Was just thinking about how Vanessa gets a lot of flack for being near the UES so much when her only connection is Dan but just thinking about. More than her friendship or romantic relationship with Dan, but her only friend Dan or her family Dan. Her relationship with Rufus as Dan’s parent when her own relationship with her parents is so strained and they’re so far away both physically and emotionally. Her being “practically Jenny’s sister” even though they fight and she’s Dan’s friend yet she’s so close to his sister doesn’t she have a sister? Don’t they live together? Gabriela and Arlo are Not Present but what about Ruby Abrams? Another letdown or more? Like. Maybe Vanessa is the doomed girl who’s so interwoven that when Dan becomes connected to the Upper East side she doesn’t really have a choice but to follow, does she? And then the rest of the family does and she’s just interwoven in. Because maybe it is all or nothing for her, go with them or break from them.
