10/15/16 for Ark for the oc ask thing :3c
10. Is your OC sentimental or pragmatic? Do they keep mementos or only what they need to survive? Have they always been this way or did something happen to make them change?
a bit of both, but he doesn't keep a whole lot of trinkets. he never had much when he was young, and sort of got used to pretty much just having what he had on him. he tends to travel pretty light since he doesn't really need much, so there's not much room for little mementos. what he does have, he holds onto, though. his trusty axe is held together by his average repair skills and hope, but it's not failed him yet and for that he really cherishes it.
15. What places hold significant meaning or memories for your OC? Do they have a positive or negative association with those places?
ark is from ishgard, and he's got some uh. Complicated Feelings. growing up in the brume, he hated the place for the longest time, and when he left for limsa he planned to never go back. the events of the game, of course, forced him to go back. and after witnessing real, tangible change and making some close bonds with the kinds of respected, noble people he never dreamed would have a shred of decency in them (and, you know, murdering the pope as you do in rpgs), he honestly started to come around himself. nowadays he actually goes out of his way to help with heavy lifting in the restoration efforts in the brume, wanting to do what he can in his old home now that he's realized it can change
16. How does your OC make money? Do they have a respectable profession or work a series of odd jobs? Are they a criminal? Or do they get creative in the pursuit of coin?
ark is an Adventurer(tm)! which basically means he'll do whatever odd jobs he stumbles into. he's not very picky and has a hard time turning anyone down whether it be for a completely mundane waste of his time or something exceedingly dangerous. he tends to go out of his way to take on the more dangerous side of the job, though - both so other people don't have to do it, and because he really enjoys being pushed to his limits deep down.
#oc#arkhalis#thekeatoncadet#the tiger gets asks#oops i think i accidentally adblocked the ask notif graphic and didnt see these until i stopped to check :)#also to translate ff14 lore names for u babe uhhh ishgard = catholic elf city. horrible class disparity.#the brume = ishgardian slums | limsa = cool pirate city :)#with like a little beast race racism but they're working on it

Human History Lessons with Arkhalis
Today's Episode: War Unchanging Part 1: The Great War
Audio Transcript Below. Taken by Sound Director "Siren".
ARKHALIS: Hello and good evening, listeners. This is your resident human researcher ARKHALIS, digging through the annals of history for your listening pleasure. Today's episode is one you were taught in school, I do hope. The Great Wars, the five conflicts that brought humanity to its knees. This series will be split between each War, to explain the extent of humanity's brutal nature in times of war.
World War 1 began the world down its bloody path. Those who tuned in for my episodes on the Superpowers will recognize the names of America, Russia, Germany, and Britain. Not the only fighters of the war, but some of the biggest players in the future of warfare. All began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Now, as I went over in the basics, Humans cannot use respawn anchors like Inkfish. In fact, the first inventors WERE Inkfish, as the idea of revival was taboo in that time. So, with the death of the Archduke, Austria went to war, threatening to tread over another country. One long chain of events resulted in a war between two major sides. The Entente, made of the countries Britain, France, and Russia. On the "aggressor's" side was The Central Powers, Germany and Austria. War began, a game of piling bodies high and ravaging the land. An outdated form from modern Turf Wars, though, instead relying on dug-out trenches to gain territory. War built around the trenches. Wire covered in barbs to impale unfortunate soldiers, toxic gasses to clear trenches, high fire-rate guns to cut down those brave enough to cross between, and soon even steel beasts meant to roll through No Man's Land to the other side of the engagement.
Heroes on both sides as well, from the United States' Alvin York to Manfred von Richtofen of Germany. The War was a group effort from all, stories of Divine Intervention and the paranormal implying even the Christian God was helping the fight. Now, I'm not a holy man, but the stories are interesting.
From gassing out a Russian fortress only for them to come out practically zombies, to a battle lasting almost a year that permanently changed the battlefield, for six years the war raged on... until September 11th, 1918. At 11:11, no bullets flew. The War was over. Germany was blamed, unfortunately, and it is said this one misstep led to The War To End All Wars failing to live up to its name, as evil rose from the war and seized power, leading to a second Great War.
But that is a story for another time. Check back in next time for an episode on World War 2, and the artist who painted the history books red as blood. As always, read on the tales yourself, and please, do mail in some fanmail. I will be happy to read it aloud. Good night, my fellow historians. Good night, wherever you are.

Arkhalis is one of my many alter-egos. My name is just a mask, after all. Arkhalis is the corporate side, named after an old government project. JD is the "anon" side of me, standing for John Doe. Arizona is the business-casual of my names, not wholly the truth but still divulging useful information.
Hope this helps!
-JD
Ooookay. Again, like a million questions and ZERO motivation to ask them. How does your job sound so interesting yet so boring?

Okay so I am a big fan of Terraria of course, that is one of my favourite games of all time. I feel that a majority of the game I am not actually great at, but the building is something that I love and spend most of my time doing these days. My first experience with the game was playing a cracked version of the game back in middle school on my school laptop. One of the first things I ever found was an Arkhalis, which none of my friends had and it instantly made me fall in love with the game from that point. I wish I still had that world so I could have my base back, it was a house made under a hill, using the hill as a dome around it, with glass view holes and such. Of course it would be nothing compared to my current builds, but a chance to revamp my very first base I ever made would be lovely. Speaking of my first time playing Terraria, it does remind me of the wiki, which is an amazing and valuable resource, but I find it quite an interesting thing because I cannot really say I recommend it for new players to use because it would just add more questions, but it is in an interesting position where it is almost only used by experienced players who already know what they want and just need a refresher on a crafting recipe or how a specific wall would look. I also quite like the series of games Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk, and the sequel Milk outside a bag of milk outside a bag of milk. They are both quite short experiences and pretty cheap so if you have max 3 hours spare and want something to do I would recommend those. I find them very relatable to how I feel quite often. Another game I really quite enjoy which is a more niche title is Post Void, which was my first time playing a game in that style and it is supremely fun. It only took me about 80 minutes to 100% the game so of course I do also recommend that if you have the spare time. Among other games of course I love the Portal games, both Portal 1 and 2 have amazing humour and their gameplay is fantastic. I do still need to one day go through and complete those fully as I have yet to 100% either of them, mostly due to the CO-OP levels but of course there is some of the main game I have yet to complete as well. Plants vs Zombies of course was a staple from my childhood and I still love it to this day. It is great fun and a very relaxing game with many incredible mini games you can play, and some time wasters too like the zen garden, they are really good about trying to pull you in and keep you playing hahaha. Of course Minecraft too, I am really not that good at it but I love playing it as much as the next girl. Like many people my age my first experience with Minecraft came from Minecraft Youtubers, likely from Team Crafted, which were a group of Minecraft Youtubers I spent much of my time watching back in those days. They were very lovely at that time, sometimes I do still want to go back and watch some of their old videos again, but of course I have aged and I do not think they have aged very gracefully. Unlike me of course.

Arkhalis Headcanon
The Arkhalis is not a sword, but a tiny shard of a bigger one.
In the days of old, an eldritch titan threated Terraria and her habitants. Asking for the power to protect the world has he knew it in exchange of an eternity of servitude, a humble goliath blacksmith [a really really big human-like humanoid (not a giant though)] made a deal with the spirits of light and dark. The trickster spirits had another idea in mind.
They showed him the way to a meteorite that fell millenia ago, promesing him a "blessed metal" to smite his foes. With it, he forged a sword unlike any other he had made before. The sword was longer than he was tall, the blade was as broad as his muclular arms were and had a dim blueish glow.
When night fell, the the goliath, along side a valkyrian harpy who seeked revenge for her fallen sisters, fought the fiendish titan. The hulking behemoth rised his blade-like arm to strike his foe down but, with his heaven-sent blade, the goliath parried the mortal blow, shattering the titans arm in dozens of pieces, making it kneel. The harpy, without hesitation, lifted her ally above the titan's head and dropped him, going on a free fall right after him. The goliath slammed the sword into the demonic behemoth's skull, but the force of the impact shattered the blade, enveloping the heroes and the titan in a white light.
The titan fell dead onto the land and, due to the blast of the impact, the shards of the blade were scattered across terraria, with the heroes nowhere to be found.
But the titan had the last laugh beacuse it's rotting corspe released a ravenous curse onto the land. A bloody festering illness that twisted the soil where the corpse laid. And the spirits of light and dark found joy in their new-found "toy".
Some shards of the sword were recasted into other weapons and artefacts while some people tried to make the original blade whole again. Other shards were never found.

starlight, terragrim and arkhalis are all still kinda close range things tho, you can see what i mean if you use them. starlights kinda like a post plantera shortsword (in terms of how the weapon works, not the actual length of the weapon) and the arkhalis and terragrim's projectiles are like a flurry of sword slashes
also like, other classes have their clear definitions: summon weapons are weapons that summon things to fight for you (and whips that focus your summons as well as deal damage), magic weapons are anything else that consumes mana to use, ranged weapons are anything that uses some form of ammunition (with one or two exceptions), and melee is just everything else
suddenly thinking about how fucked the categorization of "melee" in Terraria is
you literally have a section on one of the melee pages titled projectile only

COMPANY NOTICE
To all workers of Kamabo Corporation: Welcome back home, glad to have helped the reconstruction effort.
The Topsiders are yet none-the-wiser to our re-emergence, a fact I hope keeps hidden quite well.
That being said, I have reached out to the topside via this "Tumblr" app. Thankfully, the old app on this old Terminal connects to it.
As always, keep up the good work.
-Arkhalis
Hi there! This is a multi-character OC blog for Splatoon! Specifically, based in Kamabo Corporation, as a new Commanding Executive Officer (CEO) steps up to the plate. Amongst the many Octarians, a few are of note.
Subject 1: Doktor, the closest thing to a licensed doctor in Kamabo. Probably insane. Wears a lab coat and surgical mask.
Subject 93: Coral, Lead Engineer. Works on mechanical projects for a living. Wears Gen-1 Octoling Armor.
Subject 10,009: Niner, currently the latest sanitization, considered the last right now. Usually a topside operative, and most likely to answer asks.
Arkhalis, CEO. Runs the circus, well-trained with a love of the Old World. Rumors say he's a survivor of the last World War. Face is rarely if ever seen, but when out, wears a Gas Mask and old Military Helmet.

A bottle of Sarsaparilla and a heart of steel goes a long way, I'd suggest try the soda option.
-Arkhalis
Some of those options are just diabolical. But, I'll have to be basic for this one and say plain water.

In response to Terraria sprite edits's violium broadsword and solus katana, see about either a terra blade, star wrath, or an arkhalis.

"Cold War, likely... unless these apes are smarter than the old apes..."
That is all, O.R.C.A., thank you.
==>
Standing up, Arkhalis adjusted his gas mask, beginning back up the wall into the ventilation shafts once more.
Question regarding projected amount of humans left. Sorry for breaking in, just needed to ask this question.

generating response...
