❀ - so confusing sometimes | multi
Description: i have a request for some beautiful lotr elves! how would they react to their human s/o being so…human? sleep talking, bumping their hips on a counter, catching their clothes on doorknobs, expressive, etc? REQUEST
Thranduil. Legolas. Elrond.
A/N: I wanted to squeeze as much elves in here but alas I only wanted to make this for the elves that (i feel like) i know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thranduil of Greenwood (Sleep-Talking)
He's been having difficulties with sleep.
It all started after the darkness took hold of his kingdom, placing his people's lives in danger. How was he to rest? When his soldiers were risking their lives fighting against the darkness - all while he had the luxury of sleep, on a soft bed with his lady-wife beside him.
His human.
Gods, another reminder of why he cannot sleep.
He fears that time will steal you away from him. Your life was a mere blink of an eye to him, a minute of rain and he'll be thrown back into the barren desert. He cannot bare to lose you. It will consume his soul with grief. It will ruin him. It will kill him.
"Catch the fish, Thran." you mumbled in your sleep.
He raises an eyebrow, believing you to be awake. "It's a big one." you continued mumbling, while burrowing deeper into the sheets. "Meleth," he whispers, wrapping his arms around you. "But I feel bad, we should let it go." you hummed.
He forgets about his fears - his anxiety.
You looked adorable while sleeping - evidently still dreaming about the summer you both spent in Laketown. Before the darkness. Before the clock ticked against your favor.
"I am quite hungry." you bit your lower lip.
Thranduil chuckles, pulling your body closer until your head was on his chest. "Continue dreaming, my love. I hope that you find light in your dreams, as we've been surrounded by darkness as of the late." he whispered, although you were unable to hear.
Still dreaming about the past, and mumbling strings of incoherent words about fist and lunch.
Tumblr media
Legolas of Greenwood (Bumping their hips on a counter)
Legolas was perhaps the most hilarious elf in all of Arda. He likes making jokes, sharing anecdotes of all the trees he's had a conversation with. He's always on top of a tree, coming home all covered in mud. He was adorable.
But he was still an elf.
He still possessed grace and elegance. He's never scraped his knees as a child. He never loses his balance. He always has his shoulders squared, and walking in a straight line.
"Chocolate is evidently better than vanilla." he rolled his eyes at you.
"You are an elfling." you say plainly, continuing to mix the batter for his father's nameday cake. "Chocolate is naturally better. When an elfling wants to be happy, they don't reach for the vanilla, they climb the counter and reach for the hidden chocolate." he defends.
But you can see through him. He's a sweet-tooth.
"You told me that Ada's favorite flavor was vanilla." you reminded, referring back to the conversation you had about your good-father.
"- but I am also his favorite child, which means that I will have the biggest piece of cake. I want to eat chocolate." he pleaded.
"You are his only child, Las." your eyes narrowed teasingly. The humans were always quick to point out the chasm between your ages, but Legolas acted more like an elfling sometimes.
"- and you will eat chocolate cake on your nameday" you walk past him.
Bumping your hips on the counter.
"Ow," you flinch, and his eyes widen.
"What was that? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" he wrapped his arms around you, caging you in his warm embrace.
"Are you sick? Is that normal?" he continued asking, concern flashing through his blue irises. The pain subsides, but his concern does not. "Should I call for a healer?" he inquired.
Why was he so worried? You only bumped your hips on the counter. He continues staring deep into your irises, checking your eyes for any sign that you were feeling pain.
You piece his reaction together.
Damn.
"My wife." he repeats firmly, snapping you back into reality. "Las," you say before beginning to laugh.
Your reaction catches him off guard. "Why are you laughing at me?" his eyebrows merge together, his face turning serious. "There's nothing to worry about, I just bumped into something." you comfort.
"There's something wrong with your eyes. We must have it healed." he insists, but you shake your head. "It's normal, Las." you smile.
"- you mean to tell me that you didn't see it?" he was flabbergasted.
His face softens, his eyebrows return to their normal place. You answer him with silence and with silence he understands. You are human, same in face as the elves - but still human nonetheless. "I'm sorry," he apologized, you wrap him in a warm embrace.
Ultimately forgetting about the cake you were baking.
Tumblr media
Elrond Peredhel (Catching their clothes on doorknobs.)
Elrond's heart heaves at the sight of that scowl on your face. His lady-wife whose anger quickly turns into sadness. "Meleth, please, talk to me." he pleaded - like a lost little puppy. "I can't believe that you've left me in the dark about the Fellowship." you frowned.
You've been married for a decade, and he's always told you everything. What he ate for breakfast, luncheon and dinner. He even shares with you the types of wine he drank. You trusted each other with even the tiniest details of your lives, but why did he lie?
"I do not wish for danger to happen upon you. The great darkness has been marching against us. I fear that those forces take you." he confessed, keeping his voice low. "- but there is no use in hiding that from you, not when you already know." he breathed.
His eyes were cloudy with tears.
"As Lady of Rivendell, is it not my duty to know?" you explained, suddenly feeling guilty about confronting him all those hours ago.
"I know that it your duty, meleth. I was being selfish. I allowed my fears to consume my judgement." he apologized.
"- while the Fellowship still marches, I urge you to not speak about them, even in the confines of our haven. The darkness has grown in power. I believe that he is strong enough to pierce through my defenses." he reminded.
"Yes, I understand." you pressed a kiss to his forehead. Standing up to close the door, after closing it shut - you turn around to face him, but your robes have been caught in the doorknob.
"Gods," you mentally facepalmed, trying to pull your robes free. "Meleth," he stood up, helping you free your robes but you continued tugging at it - giving him a harder time. "Meleth," he smiled, preventing the chuckle that threatened to escape from his mouth.
The littlest joys.
He frees your robes from the treacherous hold of the doorknob.
"Thank you." you smile in return, already red in the face.

Nakshatra series: Observations from different Nakshatras
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disclaimer: These observations are based on my personal experiences with individuals I know (including celebrities).
Ashwini:
The Ashwini girls I know have youthful, baby faces (e.g., India Eisley, Kim Chiu, my classmate). They are much softer and more likable compared to other Nakshatras ruling under vimshottari lord Ketu due to the Laghu Nakshatra quality.
Ashwini men are more impulsive compared to the women. I must add that the men of this Nakshatra are also quite cocky.
Ashwini individuals are smarter than they are often given credit for, especially in academics. They are usually overachievers and can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
Bharani:
If you have a Bharani friend, they are dedicated and loyal friends.
The romantic and sensual traits often associated with Western astrology Taurus actually belong to Bharani. While Aries are typically assertive and action-oriented, they are not usually associated with laziness. It is beacuse of the individuation and selfishness correlated to the first sign of the zodiac, Aries.
It is true that Bharani individuals love ancient mythology and history, particularly about Egypt and themes related to death.
Bharani individuals often have a resting stern expression on their faces.
Krittika:
Krittika doesn't get credit for how funny they are.
They're also fashionable, and both genders of Krittika natives are able to attract the opposite gender (sex appeal to them).
The Krittika symbol is a knife, so there's no wonder why they're blunt and cut-to-the-throat. That's why some of them have a reputation for being "rude".
Krittikas also love politics. The ones (that I know) who are actually interested in helping some people.
Rohini:
Most of the Rohini individuals are actually physically GORGEOUS. Their charm is because of their looks and style.
The reputation of "Geminis (western astrology) are opinionated and talkative" actually applies directly to Rohini natives. They like to troll people and have the last thing to say on things. (Azalea Banks)
Rohinis are actually humorous too. They have this vibe of not taking anything seriously and being innocent.
Rohini and the connection to possessiveness/obsessiveness of their partner or someone romantically. (My mom has this placement, Most of my parents' arguments stem from the fact about jealousy of my dad because of some random man)
Mrigashira:
The Mrigashira men are actually very reactive to humor if you get what I mean. It's connected to their expression and body language (Ishowspeed).
Mrigashira have actual sex appeal oozing from them, and the natives of this nakshatra have many admirers.
If a woman has this nakshatra (despite the fact that some of them are villainized by women), they actually advocate for things like "women's equality, women's rights."
Mrigashira doesn't have any problem being with the opposite gender than any other nakshatra.
They don't like to admit this, but they love drama.
Arda:
Arda natives are underestimated in that they can adapt to such social cues and reach heights despite many people hating them. Taylor Swift and Drake are Arda natives who are some of the most influential people (as of when I'm writing this observation), yet other people tend to hate them because they don't take them seriously. The backlash stems from the fact that "Taylor only writes breakup songs from her teenage years when she's 30" or "Drake is too mainstream compared to his peers in the rap/hip-hop community." Something like that. (The ones I quote are the ones I've seen on Twitter.)
Their words can actually hurt a lot. Ardas are actually good roasters. Many comedians are Arda natives, and their comedy often comes from criticism and humiliation of others (pointing out insecurities, etc.). Claire Nakti has a survey about comedians, and this nakshatra is one of the prominent ones in comedy.
The Arda natives that I observe personally have thick eyebrows. The deity has a correlation to eyebrows (I usually can't remember, I'm sorry).
(PART 2 WILL BE SOON!!!!)

Tolkien OC Week
A fandom event for OCs and underdeveloped characters in Tolkien's world!
This event celebrates both characters of Tolkien's world and our own characters that need more love, by creating and reblogging all kind of fanworks, like fanfiction, fanart, fanvideos, fancrafts, headcanons, playlists, edits, moodboards etc.
The event is modded by @yellow-faerie, @elamarth-calmagol and @stormxpadme and will take place between 25th August - 31st August 2024 for the fourth year running.
NSFW text entries are allowed and we’ll tag them accordingly when we reblog them, but please put them behind a “read more”.
We'll also be tracking the tag #tolkienocweek during this week!
*******************************************
Event schedule for 2024:
Day 1 (25th August): World Building
Create a fanwork about an original character, and use them as a jumping off point for worldbuilding. Share a dwarf from the far side of Rhun, consider the existence of an Aina before the creation of Arda, explore Rivendell from the point of view of an outsider, or tell us about the underground punk subculture of Gondolin.
Day 2 (26th August): Canon-OC Relationships
This year, it’s not just about romance. Today, explore a relationship between your OC and a canon character. Your character could be a lover or spouse of someone canonical, lf course, but they could also be a friend, sibling, teacher, servant, fan, or even rival!
Day 3 (27th August): Alternate Universes
Share an OC who isn’t canon compliant at all. Maybe you want to add a fourteenth member of Thorin’s company or give a reborn Celebrimbor children with a surviving and reformed Sauron. Or, maybe you want to do a crossover with your Star Wars OC or let your self-insert narrate a coffee shop AU. Go wild!
Day 4 (28th August): Gaps and Ghosts
Create a fanwork based upon a character that Tolkien either thought up and abandoned, such as Odo Took oe the characters of The New Shadow. Or, create someone he missed creating in the first place, like… um… just about anyone’s mother.
Day 5 (29th August): Non-Humanoid Characters
Middle Earth isn't just elves, Men, hobbits, and dwarves. Today, share a character who is something different entirely: an animal, a dragon, a Maia who doesn't take humanoid form, an ent or huron, or a creature of your own invention.
Day 6 (30th August): Background Characters
This prompt is all about people who are in the background of the action: the low-ranking soldiers, the servants, and the ordinary people living in extraordinary times. Or maybe you want someone who isn't so ordinary, like an advisor in the Council of Elrond who never made it onto the page, or one of the Maiar who sank the Feanorians on the stolen boats. Show us their view of the action!
Day 7 (31st August): Freeform
Did we miss something? Do you have an OC that doesn’t fit into any day, or did you want to do a second fanwork for one of the days? Today, create and share whatever you want, as long as it has to do with original or abandoned characters!
*******************************************
*******************************************
Since we want to celebrate creations about neglected characters all year long, the mods will occasionally reblog posts and fancreations about OCs and underdeveloped characters. If you would like to see your post on our blog, you're very welcome to tag tolkienocweek. Since tumblr's tagging system is often being faulty, don't hesitate to message us, too!
We are looking forward to see and share all the awesome work you come up with!

pairing - arda güler x gn!reader genre - fluff warnings - intended lowercase, petnames (babe, etc) summary - this req
Tumblr media
arda recently received a contract offer from real madrid. he was absolutely stunned when he found out about it.
“babe, come here“ he shouted from the bed room. you got up and made your way there. arda was sat on the bed, laptop in front of him, face in shock.
“what‘s wrong?“ you asked him. he pointed the screen of the laptop, signaling you to read it. when you started reading it, you realised it was a contract from real madrid.
“did you accept it?“ you questioned him smiling. “of course, do you think i‘m dumb or something“ he replied back, chuckling while pulling you to his side.
you placed a kiss on his cheek, congratulating him.
“we have to throw a party or something“ you requested, only to be met with a frowning boy. “no?“ you asked.
“no“ he confirmed. “i want to spend my party time with my baby“ he mumbled into your neck while pulling you closer.
“i fall for you harder every day“ you complained.

Headcanon that all that juicy stuff such as the hug, the acorn moment, “to me he was…” etc. all happened in book canon too because who says it didn’t, Bilbo just wanted to keep and treasure those moments to himself and leave them out of his memoir.
SO when Thorin went to Aulë’s corner in the Halls of Mandos, he watched Bilbo and Balin’s “to me he was” talk via Vairë’s tapestries. And he wondered what the rest of that sentence was, especially as the rest of the company insisted Bilbo’s use of “friend” to the house thieves was an oversimplification and not the real truth.
When Bilbo finally arrived in the Halls, though the Gift of Men could not be taken from him, he was allowed a few hours in Aulë’s corner to reconnect with the Dwarves one last time before leaving Arda. Once everyone had caught up on Bilbo’s life, and he’d said his last farewells to most of them, he and Thorin went to Aulë’s gates alone.
What followed was akin to the WandaVision finale. Though they knew they could not stay like this, Thorin’s last request was to know the rest of that one unfinished sentence he once overheard. “…What am I to you?” Bilbo’s answer was a parallel to, if not word for word, “You are my sadness and my hope, but mostly you’re my love.” One last hug and kiss, a promise to reunite when the world is remade, and Bilbo departed from Arda.

Hey! So I nabbed one of those newfangled tumblr communities with the idea of sharing, creating and promoting Arda art, writing, discussion etc that ISN'T inspired by PJ's films. Promote diverse interpretations outside the mainstream etc! So if anyone would like in on that, give this post a comment and I'll invite you!

Hey ❤️🤗 Could I maybe request Arda x fem!reader in their teenie years? They're friends or neighbors and he had a little crush on her for quite some time now. But he's not the only one, there's another guy being interested in reader and one day that guy confesses to reader in front of friends / family and everyone is like "awwww he's such a perfect match, cute cute cute now kiss" while reader thinks "Nah 🙂‍↔️ Thanks" and she runs away being overwhelmed. Arda notices what's going on and follows her silently. He soon finds her sitting on a wall, watching the sunset. He stands behind her to also watch the sunset and then confronts her and asks if she's alright and why she left the scenario, if it's because she doesn't like that dude etc... She admits she has feelings for someone else, blushing hard, avoiding his gaze. He's very excited about it, thinking she could maybe mean himself (she does) and starts nuzzling her neck, taking in her scent and not being brave enough for a real kiss but they enjoy the closeness and yeah 😂😎

The summer sun hung lazily over Ankara, casting a golden hue on the bustling city and beckoning us to the nearby beach.
Arda, had organized a day out for our group. We were a mix of excitement and nervous energy as we packed towels and snacks, ready for a day of fun by the sea.
As we arrived at the beach, laughter and chatter filled the air. The sand was warm beneath our feet, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore was a soothing backdrop to our gathering.
Arda flashed a shy smile my way, his eyes briefly meeting mine before he turned to help set up our spot.
The day passed in a blur of swimming, games, and shared snacks. As the sun began its descent, someone suggested playing truth or dare.
We gathered in a circle, and the bottle spun, landing on our friend Emre. He grinned mischievously before announcing that he chooses dare.
"I dare you to admit who you have a crush on in this circle," someone teased, and a ripple of laughter followed.
Emre's eyes flickered nervously around the group before landing on me. "I... uh, I have a crush on (Y/N)," he confessed, his cheeks turning a shade of crimson.
There was a collective gasp, and I felt my cheeks flush in embarrassment. Arda's expression darkened momentarily before he masked it with a forced smile, trying to hide his disappointment.
"You two would be cute together," one of our friends chimed in, nudging Emre playfully.
"Yeah, you should kiss!" another added, and laughter erupted once more.
Feeling overwhelmed, I excused myself abruptly and hurried away from the circle, mumbling something about needing a moment alone. I walked briskly down the shoreline, the sound of laughter fading behind me.
I needed time to process everything, away from their well-meaning but awkward attempts at matchmaking.
Arda, sensing my distress, followed silently after a few moments. He caught up to me as I slowed my pace near a quiet stretch of the beach, the waves gently lapping at the shore.
"Hey," he said softly, his voice tentative yet filled with concern. "Are you alright?"
I turned to face him, offering a weak smile. "Yeah, I just... needed some air," I replied honestly, my voice tinged with embarrassment.
"Why did you leave?" Arda asked gently, his eyes searching mine.
I hesitated, unsure how to voice my feelings.
Finally, I sighed softly, meeting his gaze. “I felt a little uncomfortable … because I have feelings for someone else," I confessed, my cheeks flushing.
Arda's expression softened, hope flickering in his eyes. "Who?" he asked quietly, his voice barely audible over the gentle rustling of the breeze and the distant sound of waves.
My heart pounded in my chest as I took a deep breath, gathering my courage. "It's you, Arda," I admitted softly, feeling a rush of vulnerability and relief.
His eyes widened in surprise, a mixture of disbelief and joy crossing his face. He stepped closer, his hand reaching out to gently take mine.
"Really?" he asked softly, his thumb brushing over my knuckles.
I nodded, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders. "Yes," I confirmed, a small smile spreading across my face.
Arda's smile mirrored mine, shy yet genuine. "I... I like you too," he confessed quietly, his cheeks tinged with a faint blush.
Encouraged by his honesty, I leaned in, pressing a tender kiss against his cheek. Arda's eyes widened in surprise, but then a radiant smile spread across his face.
He shyly lifted my hand to his lips, pressing a gentle kiss against my knuckles, in reciprocation.
"But... what about Emre?" Arda's voice broke through the tender moment, his eyes searching mine.
I sighed softly, meeting his gaze with honesty. "I don't have feelings for Emre," I confessed, feeling a wave of relief at finally revealing the truth.
Arda's expression softened with understanding, and he gently squeezed my hand. “I must admit I was disappointed when I heard Emre liked you." he murmured.
“Well the only person I like is you,” I reassured him, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.
We stood there on the beach, our hands intertwined, watching the sunset paint the sky in hues of pink and orange.
This was a new beginning for the both of us.

The Silm talks a lot about Morgoth "marring" Arda and mutating the creations of the Valar, but beyond the geography of Arda (including entire continents, the Lamps, The Misty Mountains, Two Trees etc), along with certain vague implications (that may or may not be true) of his "monsters" originating from mutated people or animals (Orcs from Elves, Trolls from Ents, etc), there doesn't seem to be much information about WHAT creations Morgoth actually destroyed and/or changed. So I've been thinking about it
Millions of years ago the tectonic uplift of the Appalachian mountains created a lot of weathering and sequestration of CO2, consequentially changing the entire climate (from a greenhouse climate to an icehouse) and chemistry of the ocean(s) — What if, by raising the Misty Mountains, Morgoth forced Arda into a Glacial Ice Age? (It's already canon that Sauron caused at least one of the Long Winters in Eriador!)
What if Morgoth delving Utumno created volcanic activity and tectonic uplift that triggered a mass extinction event? What if prehistoric animals or plants were alive during the Spring of Arda but were destroyed by Morgoth? Like it would make total sense that the Sleep of Yavanna, "a time of darkness and stillness of nature", is just a poetic way of describing something like that
WHAT IF MORGOTH MADE DRAGONS FROM DINOSAURS AND PTEROSAURS
the possibilites are endless

I definitely think that Melkor's skill as a manipulator is underestimated, not just for the way he was able to sow dissent in Aman without it being traced back to him etc., but for the sheer fact that he was able to win Mairon over to his side in the first place.
Think of it: Mairon. Sauron. The one whose name is basically a byword for subtlety and manipulation. And Melkor was able to deceive him.
Yes, I think it's clear that Sauron learned much from him, that he was able to put to good use (ahem) in later ages. But I also feel, sliding into the realm of headcanon, that Mairon was always intelligent and perceptive, with an aptitude for reading others, even if he didn't initially use these gifts for such dubious ends. Yet Melkor was able to win him over. Whether or not he believed himself whatever spiel he fed Mairon, he was able to convince him that coming to his side was the way to put Arda in order. He deceived the Deceiver. Surely that speaks volumes about his own intelligence and cunning.

How I made my glowing stardust cookie wig with translucent spray paint and button battery LEDs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started with a pure white arda wigs jaguar that was already fully styled since you will need all the shapes to be set before adding color. To style it, I did the classic "heat the fibers upside down, tease via backcombing, brush them out, heat and tease again, brush out...again" method that is formally outlined in my karna tutorial. You dont have to have your shapes perfectly locked in before adding in color since you will be brushing it out once more, but you will need all of your teasing and heat training to be done before adding color.
Stardust Cookie's wig involves leaving the bangs pure white and the back sections blue. There are a million ways to do this (start with a blue wig and add a white bang front, airbrush color, dye wefts and sew them together, etc) but the method that was the most economical for me involved using krylon translucent spray paint. I know using spray paint on a wig sounds scary and i would not use an enamel or fully opaque spray paint on a wig, but the krylon translucent spray paint is shockingly soft, flexible, and goes on in light coats.
To keep the bangs white, I pinned down some cling wrap all around the bangs and made sure the line was snug. at this point I very gingerly began applying spray paint to the back sections of the wig. I did this in very light coats at a distance of about 18 inches from the wig. Honestly right after spraying, the fibers were still soft and the coverage was as good as i was expecting to get, but i did take a hog bristle brush and thoroughly combed out the fibers after this stage. This helps break up any strings and more evenly distributed the color.
This method works well if you want a soft color that does not need to be perfectly uniform. And I knew since I was adding lights below, that the color coverage itself didn't matter a whole lot, so long as it was translucent, didn't have any major streaks or clumps, and light could get out smoothly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To add lights to the wig, there are 4 button-battery 30-LED fairy light packs glued into the underside netting of the wig. Always be sure to check if your LED wires can withstand hot glue heat before application (but most standard LED packs can withstand a low heat setting.) I did not have any problems with the heat of the wig + my body heat causing problems with the LEDs after being worn for several hours. These lights provide a diffuse, background glow throughout the wig and can be seen through the blue color. the below image of the wig only has lights underneath the netting (only one pack on for that image).
Tumblr media Tumblr media

To light up the upper parts of the wig, there is one pack of LEDs threaded through the teased, textured bases of the spikes. Because these lights are on top of the netting and going through the textured sections, they scatter off of the teased hair and provide illumination to the higher parts of the wig. below is an image of the wig with only the single "top" lights lit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and that's how I made this wig! Other than that the rhinestones and other accessories were just glued on w/ hot glue. This wig looks nice in person and on camera and is stable. Granted its a little uncomfortable since you can feel the wires and the battery packs ngl but i've certainly worn worse. You can use hairspray on top of the translucent spray paint in small amounts, but in general i would proceed with caution since if nothing else, it may make the fibers look particularly stringy (which is why i highly recommend heat-set styles for this application over hairspray-set ones)
Believe me you can go pretty far with a "let me just slap some LEDs in there with a bit of glue" attitude when it comes to adding lights to stuff.

──⠀۪ ♡ ۫ notes: thank you for the request! such a cute idea, hope you enjoy!

◦ you had no knowledge of the existence of hobbits prior to your involvement with the fellowship
◦ so, it was a challenge to warm up to them—considering the stark differences between them and your own kind
◦ there were many exchanged glances of amusement ( and sometimes admittedly, slight annoyance ) between you and legolas as they ( specifically Merry and Pippin ) broke into song and dance, or questioned you both with astonishment at your general lifestyle differences—notably your 'lack' of daily meals
◦ yet you soon found them charming and sweet. admiration washing over you as you eventually grew closer throughout the journey, tenderly adoring their resilience as they hurdled through days often filled with tireless travel, sometimes an encounter with unfriendly armed foes, and scarce opportune for second breakfast
◦ they were in desperate need of proper combat training, leading you to begin rousing them from sleep once dawn settled into the air, placing daggers and swords in their grasps for routinely lessons of swordsmanship
◦ of them all, Frodo was the least to air his grievances despite bearing the weight of all of arda on his shoulders, and you wanted to offer any help that would lessen his burdens through providing words of encouragement that brought a small smile to his lips, sharpening his sword, and even offering to help carry his load of the travel supplies ( aka Legolas swooping in to say "I've got it, meleth nîn" [ 'my love' ] )
◦ at this point, you've developed a soft spot for them and are borderline helicopter parenting:
◦ offering any extra sips of water from your canteen and beckoning them to eat their fill, sacrificing your own cloak for an extra blanket as they sleep ( which meant Legolas had to sacrifice his own for you, of course ), all while maintaining a constant watchful eye over them
◦ you hadn't given much thought to the expression of your parental behaviour until it becomes quite noticeable to the rest of the fellowship—after you discovered the secret bet Legolas and Gimli held on the number of times you would urge the hobbits to be careful throughout the day ( Gimli won the third time in a row )
◦ the daggers you shot at legolas upon finding out as the dwarf inevitably was unable to contain his boasting for winning over a 'pointy-eared elfling'
"the look on the elf's face!" Gimli shouts as he squawks with laughter before being silenced by your eyes that turn to cast upon him disappovingly
◦ this does not hinder you at the slightest from looking out for the hobbits, as you continued to dedicate yourself to caring for and protecting them in any way you can

The Valar and their action and non-action (especially in the first age and leading up to it) are a complicated subject to say the least, but one part of it, to me at least, is that the Valar so did not sign up for this.
Think about it--Eru shows them a vision of a created world, then they figure out that they have to create it themselves; ok, fine, Manwe and Ulmo have a great time making weather systems, Aule fashioning the mountains, Yavanna her plants, etc. They're having a great time (minus Melkor's interference) literally world-building. This is largely what they are good at and what they want to do.
They did not sign up to deal with political crises, personal/family crises, morality crises, and war, they were probably never intended to have to deal with this in Iluvatar's perfect world, and they are bad at it.
None of this is meant to excuse their, uh...less than stellar decisions, but this post isn't about those, it's about the context of the Valar signing up for Minecraft in Creative mode and not only getting thrown into Survival, but also thrown into adjudicating elf drama, elf marriage/life/death metaphysics, and kinslayings.
Admittedly, they put themselves in a position of authority over the elves, but I still don't think they expected all of that, especially not before they entered Arda, when all they wanted to do was create a beautiful world for the children of Iluvatar.
And then it all went to hell.

𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓞𝓷𝓮 𝓡𝓲𝓷𝓰 vs 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕊𝕚𝕝𝕞𝕒𝕣𝕚𝕝𝕤
Over the years I've encountered a few discussions around the question of which work was "greater", the One Ring or the Silmarils. Unfortunately, these discussions were often framed as a sort of "character competition" with the goal to determine that either Fëanor or Mairon is the "better" smith and I don't think that's particularly fun or doing either work justice. So... here are my two cents regarding the comparison between our favorite pieces of jewelry.
⟡ Their natures and purposes.
Firstly, the One Ring and the Silmarils are two different kinds of objects, and by that I don't just mean shape, materials or design.
The One Ring is a tool. It was created to dominate the wearers of the other Rings of Power to aid in Mairon's quest to subjugate and control other rulers in Middle-earth (and not to show everyone what a cool smith he is). Aside from this purpose, the One Ring functions as a sort of amplifier, working with and strengthening whatever abilities its current wearer has. It's impervious to damage and can only be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom where it was made, though it's possible such a feat could have also been achieved by the Valar, particularly Aulë.
The Silmarils are more akin to a science experiment or passion project. Fëanor was inspired to capture the light of the Two Trees after seeing Galadriel's hair and proceeded to research and experiment how such a feat might be achieved. They were hallowed so no mortal or evil hands could touch them and, after the death of the Two Trees, were the only way to restore them. Like the One Ring, they couldn't be simply broken or unmade and only Fëanor knew the exact process, though it's once again not impossible that the Valar could have done so, particularly Aulë.
⟡ Who was involved.
While the One Ring and the Silmarils were created by Mairon and Fëanor respectively, there was also some involvement from other parties.
As far as the One Ring is concerned, Mairon learned how to make a "ring" like this (his ring is obviously a ring and we've also heard of Morgoth's Ring which is not, so read "ring" as a metaphor/umbrella term here), or an "object infused with someone's power", from Melkor and his process of placing his spiritual essence within Arda. Being a former Maia of Aulë, we can also assume that Mairon learned the craft itself as well as potentially special techniques from Aulë.
As far as the Silmarils are concerned, the light came from the Two Trees of Valinor which were created by Yavanna and the hallowing was performed by Varda.
Thus, we can conclude that in both cases outside influences were involved, namely various Valar, and given how the Valar made the basic components of Arda (the planet itself, water, air, etc), it's pretty much impossible to create anything in Arda that you couldn't argue against being related to some Vala's domain in some way. That is not to take away from anyone's creative abilities or craftsmanship, it's simply a consequence of existing in a world that has demiurgic angels its architects.
⟡ Their historical impacts.
To say that the One Ring and the Silmarils were important artifacts within the history of Arda would be an understatement and to narrate their entire arcs would be beyond the scope of this post, as well as not very interesting.
I believe it suffices to say that both the One Ring and the Silmarils triggered arcs that spanned centuries and essentially dictated at least an entire age and were the main driving force of the plot, with many other events being chain reactions of the original conflicts sparked by the existence of these artifacts. They have influenced countless lives and ultimately led to the final defeat and downfall of a dark lord. Their historical impact was immense.
⟡ Their raw power/potential.
This is a bit of an iffy point of comparison, since power in the Tolkien universe is deliberately designed not to be a clearly quantifiable and comparable thing. Because of this, I'll also stay clear of commenting on the individual power of the creators and focus on power in terms of potency and potential of the artifact.
The One Ring acts, as previously mentioned, as an amplifier and is thus dependent on its wearer. Aside from being unable to be unmade outside of Mount Doom, it also appears to be able to expand and shrink to fit its wearer. When worn by mortals, it has the side effect of making them invisible. A powerful individual who successfully claims the One Ring, as in bending it to their will, could gain full access to its powers and attempt to control the bearers of the other rings; though in order to do that, they would have to overcome the will of Mairon whose essence is contained within the One Ring, a feat that Tolkien has stated to be impossible inside Mount Doom (unless maybe they're a Vala, and I personally think even a more powerful Maia would at least be at a high risk of succumbing).
The Silmarils are, due to their light and their hallowing, effective against evil and can ward off evil creatures or cause them grievous harm, even to Melkor. They're also the only way to restore the Two Trees of Valinor, a feat the Valar were unable to accomplish without them, and Yavanna herself cannot reproduce them in their entirety. Like the One Ring, they're pretty much indestructible and, while they don't seem to have a will of their own or one stemming from any of the parties involved, they have the tendency to influence the fates of those who own them, simply by way of being critically important to various parties and being lusted after. If one wants to take the (discarded) Second Prophecy as part of their personal canon, the Silmarils will also be used to restore the Trees at the end and thus aid in the healing of Arda.
⟡ Their allegiance.
I've touched on this aspect somewhat before, but for this point I'm going to take a quick look at how exactly these objects appear to have allegiances and how these may change or be turned.
The One Ring's true allegiance is Mairon, whose spiritual essence it holds. It serves its other wearers with the purpose of hopefully making its way back to him and will occasionally betray them, showing what could be a will of its own, though so far it's tied to Mairon's. It could be turned to serve another, if one individual possesses the power to do so, but this possibility has remained theoretical in the story and would, even if Mairon was defeated or even (partially) enslaved, still end in his favor insofar as that the new master of the One Ring would inevitably be corrupted by performing such an act. Thus, we can conclude that his safeguards were mostly sufficient and the ring remained faithful.
The Silmarils don't appear to have a will on their own on the same level and don't really have allegiances either. However, thanks to the hallowing certain parties are unable to touch them without being burned and withered; whether the hallowing, as far as the notion of evil is concerned, is tied to some abstract, objective moral standard or is connected in some way, shape or form to the will of Varda is unclear, but fact is that Eönwë's warning turned out to be accurate when Maedhros and Maglor were burned by the Silmarils. I would speculate that, if Fëanor had survived and been around at that time, he too would have been burned and go as far to suspect that this would have happened even if his first attack on Angband had been successful and led to a swift reclamation of the Silmarils, since he was already a kinslayer by that point. Thus, the Silmarils were no longer "faithful" to their original maker and his heirs.
⟡ Conclusion.
So where do we stand after considering all of the above points? I think that the One Ring and the Silmarils are on the same level regarding various aspects. As far as allegiance is concerned, I would say the One Ring has a bit of an edge as it never turned on or became unusable for Mairon; but as far as raw power/potential is concerned, I would say the Silmarils have the edge there because of their global importance in regards to the Two Trees and due to them holding the light of one of, if not a Vala's greatest work.
In my opinion, it really comes down to what you personally find more impressive - a tool for domination or the jewels of fate.
Nevertheless, comparing these two from various angles is fascinating and I frankly find it sad that such an interesting topic is more often than not reduced to some sort of character bashing or gotcha moment; which, in case that wasn't clear already, is NOT the purpose of this post. I'd be curious to hear what other aspects you would highlight and other comparisons you would draw, though would humbly request you respect the aforementioned purpose of this post (and what it's not).
As for the creators, let's say just this: Fëanor has made several great works and Mairon, while we know less about him overall due to the limited narrators of the Silmarillion, is a highly capable and intelligent individual too; one doesn't stay respected within the household of Aulë even after betraying him or become a teacher of Celebrimbor and the Gwaith-i-Mírdain for nothing. Neither of them is "stupid" or "trash" (as far as craftsmanship is concerned, what you think about their morals and personalities is a different story...).

Thanks for reading and I hope you found this post interesting and/or entertaining. I kept it more on the casual side since I thought it sufficient to get the point across and lots of people here know the lore required and don't need extra quotes.

Tolkien is admittedly pretty good at sparing his couples from permanent separation. Look at Frodo & Sam, Beren & Lúthien, Aragorn & Arwen, the many Elf pairings, the many human pairings, etc. They each get to spend eternity together, be it in Valinor for the Elves who are eventually re-embodied, or beyond Arda wherever mortals go after death.
But then there’s Aegnor, who will spend literally the entire duration of the world’s existence in the Halls of Mandos, loving and mourning someone he only knew for a few comparatively short decades because his own lineage was a traitor to him, his lack of mortal ancestry preventing him from ever having the choice to be with her forever.
And also there’s Bilbo, who spent 80+ years loving and mourning someone who he only actually knew for 7 months, and who he must inevitably leave behind in the Halls of Mandos when he departs the circles of the world.
