How To Protect Poultry Feed Quality With Feed Antioxidants?

Antioxidants are added in poultry feeds to protect the feeds from oxidation and deterioration during storage. The usage of antioxidants as animal feed supplements has increased in the recent past. Nutriox has proven to be one of the most effective antioxidants for animal feeds.

Requirement Of Feed Antioxidant

Poultry feed risks spoilage due to oxidation. The process of oxidation destroys the nutrient content of the feed, mainly the fat and fat-soluble vitamins. Oxidation in feeds results in the rancidification of carotenoids, fats, amino acids, and Vitamins A, D, E & K. Oxidation creates an odor and makes the feed unpalatable for poultry. The oxidation of feeds reduces its nutritive value and if spoiled feed is consumed, it can create massive nutrient deficiency. The presence of certain trace minerals in poultry feeds may also catalyse the oxidation process. Process Of Feed Oxidation

Feed antioxidants play an important role in protecting nutrients. Nutriox, which is the feed antioxidant manufactured by Avitech Nutrition, contains Ethoxyquin, Propyl Gallate, and Citric Acid. Citric acid prevents oxidation catalysis through metal chelation and thus stops the first phase of oxidation. Ethoxyquin takes control in the next phase by stabilizing the free radicals.
