Italian It Girl: Beauty with Biochemical Backing
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Facial Creams with Yogurt and Honey
Yogurt and honey masks are used for their hydrating and antibacterial properties. Yogurt contains lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), which helps exfoliate dead skin cells and enhance hydration. The lactic acid promotes a smoother and more hydrated complexion. Honey has antimicrobial properties due to its phenolic compounds and natural sugars, which help reduce bacterial growth and inflammation while retaining moisture, leading to healthier skin.
Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair
Apple cider vinegar is used as a final rinse for hair because of its acetic acid content. Acetic acid helps balance the pH of the scalp, close hair cuticles, and remove product residues. This can lead to shinier and less brittle hair by smoothing the cuticle layer and reducing scalp inflammation. It also helps in reducing dandruff and improving overall hair health.
Olive Oil Masks
Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids like oleic acid and antioxidants such as vitamin E. Oleic acid helps deeply hydrate the skin and improve elasticity by integrating into the skin barrier. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, protecting the skin from oxidative stress caused by free radicals, thus reducing signs of aging and enhancing skin repair processes.
Coffee Scrub
Coffee grounds are used as an exfoliant due to their coarse texture and bioactive compounds. Caffeine enhances blood circulation, promotes fat metabolism, and stimulates lymphatic drainage, which can reduce the appearance of cellulite. The physical exfoliation removes dead skin cells and improves texture, while antioxidants in coffee, such as chlorogenic acids, protect the skin from environmental damage.
Sweet Almond Oil for Hydration
Sweet almond oil contains essential fatty acids like oleic acid and linoleic acid, which are vital for maintaining the skin’s lipid barrier and preventing moisture loss. It is also rich in vitamins A and E. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant, preventing oxidative damage and maintaining skin hydration and elasticity.
Baths with Aromatic Herbs
Aromatic herbs such as rosemary, lavender, and thyme contain essential oils with therapeutic properties. Rosemary has rosmarinic acid and cineole, which have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects. Lavender oil contains linalool and linalyl acetate, which promote relaxation and stress relief. Thyme essential oil includes thymol and carvacrol, known for their antimicrobial properties. Adding these herbs to baths can help relieve muscle tension and improve mood through their volatile compounds.
Chamomile Infusions for Tired Eyes
Chamomile infusions are used as compresses due to their anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Chamomile contains flavonoids like apigenin and essential oils that reduce inflammation and irritation. Apigenin helps inhibit inflammatory pathways, which can reduce puffiness and calm the sensitive skin around the eyes.
Chamomile for Lightening Hair
Chamomile is used to lighten hair naturally through its flavonoids and essential oils. When applied to the hair and exposed to sunlight, these compounds interact with melanin, gradually lightening the hair color. This natural bleaching effect enhances hair brightness and creates subtle highlights over time.
Rosemary Remedies
Rosemary contains compounds such as rosmarinic acid and ursolic acid, which stimulate blood circulation and support hair growth. Rosmarinic acid has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help improve scalp health and reduce oxidative stress. Enhanced circulation promotes hair follicle health and contributes to stronger hair growth.

Note
Can you dispel the ACV health benefits myth?
There actually are health benefits to using it on occasion.
Just not all the time.
Apple Cider Vinegar, added to drinking water, makes the environment unpleasant for most protozoans and can slow bacterial and fungal growth just by the change in the PH.
If you have a bird that could either have thrush or trich, you can give it some ACV to help mitigate the symptoms and slow the progression for a short time. It could buy you just a few days more to figure out which one it is and for the pathogen specific treatment to arrive.
It is not the cure all that people treat it as.
Use it too often, and those pathogens acclimate to the change in PH and it no longer does any good.

Fire Cider Recipe 1:
Fire Cider Ingredients
2 cups apple cider vinegar
1/2 to 1 cup honey
1/2 cup horseradish
8 cloves of garlic, chopped
1/2 onion
1/2 cup ginger
1 sliced jalapeño
1/2 cup fresh turmeric OR 1 tbsp dried turmeric (optional)
1/2 lemon (optional)
1/2 orange (optional)
1 tsp peppercorns (optional)
2 whole cinnamon sticks (optional)
2 rosemary sprigs (optional)
4 thyme sprigs (optional)
Directions
Prepare ingredients and place them in a sterilized quart-sized glass jar.
Pour the apple cider vinegar and honey in the jar until all of the ingredients are covered and the vinegar reaches 1/2 inch from the jar’s top. You can use a glass fermentation weight on top to keep the ingredients submerged, but that is just a preference. Shake well. Store in a dark, cool place for a month, shaking daily. It’s in vinegar, so it won’t go bad! Once done, strain, bottle, and label.
Storage: It’s vinegar, so it keeps all winter and early spring (6 months) if left in a cool dark place. Keeps in the refrigerator for up to 10 months. You can take a dropperful every few hours, or I put 2 -3 droppers full into a big mug of hot water and drink that.
Benefits of ingredients
Ginger root – Ginger contains gingerol, an antibacterial compound that promotes body warmth, helping to fight off cold symptoms.

Lemon – The levels of vitamin C found in the juice and peel are extremely effective against bacterial infections! Lemons act as a great potentiator in this cider recipe.
Rosemary Sprigs – This piney plant alleviates muscle pain, boosts the immune system, and relieves cough while you’re sick.
Turmeric – Turmeric increases the antioxidant capacity in your body. This means that all of the new antioxidants in this cider will have a home to live and work in!

Home Remedies to get rid of yellow teeth
Tumblr media
Yellowing teeth can occur gradually due to various factors such as aging, enamel wear, and plaque buildup. While some yellowing is inevitable, there are simple home remedies that may help brighten your smile:
Oil Pulling: This traditional practice involves swishing oil in your mouth to remove bacteria and stains. Coconut oil, high in lauric acid, is a popular choice. Swish a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes daily.
Baking Soda: Known for its whitening properties, baking soda acts as a mild abrasive to scrub away surface stains and creates an alkaline environment that inhibits bacterial growth. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water and brush your teeth with the paste a few times per week.
Hydrogen Peroxide: As a natural bleaching agent with antibacterial properties, hydrogen peroxide can whiten teeth and kill bacteria. Use a 1.5% or 3% solution to avoid irritation. You can also mix it with baking soda to make a toothpaste-like consistency.
Apple Cider Vinegar: With its antibacterial properties, apple cider vinegar can help whiten teeth, but its acidic nature may erode enamel. Dilute it with water and swish in your mouth for a few minutes, then rinse with plain water.
Activated Charcoal: Crush a charcoal tablet into powder and brush your teeth with it to help remove surface stains.
Fruits and Vegetables: Crunchy raw fruits and vegetables like strawberries and pineapple can help rub away plaque as you chew. While a strawberry and baking soda paste may have minimal effects on enamel, excessive use could damage teeth.
Incorporate these natural remedies into your oral care routine to help brighten your smile over time. Remember to consult with a dentist before trying any new oral care practices, especially if you have existing dental issues.

🥤Daily Detox Drink🥤
So I'm all for doing as much as you can that's beneficial for your well-being that isn't medicine. That said, homeopathy is not the answer to every medical condition and you should definitely consult your doctor before integrating homeopathic remedies to your health regimen. I am not a professional. Please, dear Lord, don't take my word as gospel.
Anyway, here's a budget friendly detox drink with a bunch of health benefits. You can find the ingredients at your local supermarket. Nothing fancy. This isn't really a cure for anything in particular, just a general keep-you-healthy beverage. 👍 Health benefits per ingredient are listed at the bottom (plus, if you're interested, the magickal properties as well).
Turmeric powder 15ml
Apple Cider Vinegar 30ml
Ginger (chopped) 1 tbsp
Black Pepper 1 tsp
Lemon Juice 60ml
Honey 30ml
Cinnamon (chopped or powdered) 10ml
6 cups WARM water (not boiling!)
Dump all the stuff in the warm water and mix it round. Store it in the fridge. This makes enough for a week's supply, ingested daily in the a.m.
Here's what it should look like once bottled. I tried to make it look palateable. I warn you now, it is not. It IS, however, good for you.
Tumblr media
These are some of the benefits when the ingredient is ingested:
Turmeric - boosts your metabolism, aids with symptoms of hayfever, depression, inflammation, high cholesterol and osteo-arthritis. Also helps with the build up of fat in the liver and mild itching. It has strong cleansing properties, along with encouraging prosperity, love, spiritual growth and wisdom.
Apple Cider Vinegar - helps regulate blood sugar, good for gut health (bloating & indigestion), helps with relaxing leg cramps, helps ease coughs & colds, aids with high cholesterol and increases energy levels. Strong cleansing and banishing properties, enhances romantic connections, encourages prosperity and intution.
Ginger - relieves nausea, vomiting and headaches, reduces inflammation, eases joint pain and symptoms of osteo- and rheumatoid arthirits, menstrual pain, risk of heart health and high cholesterol. Ginger encourages vitality, protection, love and romance, healing, prosperity and psychic awareness, and courage.
Black Pepper - good for gut health, eases symptoms of inflammation, depression, and helps regulate blood sugar levels. It also aids in brain function, collagen production, nutrient absorption and dental health. Similar to ginger, said to have anti-cancer properties. It encourages emotional strength and opens spiritual pathways; promotes healthy personal power, self worth, courage, stamina, and self control.
Lemon Juice - rich in vitamin C, anti-oxidants and citric acid (preventing kidney stones). Aids in hydration and digestion. Used to call in longevity, purification, unity, uplifting, clarity, friendship, happiness, rejuvenation, awareness, love, fidelity, new beginnings, cleansing, and protection.
Cinnamon - Packed with anti-oxidants. Helps reduce inflammation and protects against heart disease, as well as regulates blood sugar levels. It is said to aid in neuro-degeneration like in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, have anti-cancer properties and aid in bacterial and fungal infections. Honey - Another anti-oxidant gold mine, helps regulate blood sugar and blood pressure levels. It's overall great for heart health and cholesterol and can soothe a cough and sore throat. Honey is symbolic of fertility, community, prosperity, diligence and work ethic.

10 Home Remedies to Beat UTI Without Antibiotics
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are common, especially among women, and they can cause significant discomfort. The infection typically affects the urethra, bladder, or kidneys and can lead to symptoms like frequent urination, pain, and a burning sensation while urinating. While antibiotics are often prescribed for UTIs, there are several natural remedies you can try at home to alleviate the symptoms and speed up the healing process. If you're considering managing your UTI without antibiotics, it's essential to consult a healthcare professional, such as a dietitian in Chandigarh, who can provide personalized advice tailored to your health needs.
In this blog, we will explore 10 effective home remedies that may help in managing UTI symptoms naturally.
1. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water is one of the simplest and most effective ways to treat and prevent UTIs. Water helps to flush out bacteria from your urinary tract, reducing the risk of further infection. It also dilutes the urine, which can reduce the burning sensation associated with urination. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Additionally, water-rich fruits like watermelon and cucumber can further boost hydration.
2. Cranberry Juice
Cranberries are often considered a natural remedy for UTIs due to their ability to prevent bacteria from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract. While cranberry juice won’t cure an active infection, it may help in preventing recurrent UTIs. Be sure to choose unsweetened cranberry juice, as added sugars can irritate the bladder. Drinking a glass of cranberry juice daily can reduce your chances of developing another UTI.
3. Probiotics
Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that help maintain a healthy balance of microorganisms in the body. Consuming foods rich in probiotics, such as yogurt, kefir, and fermented foods, can support gut and urinary health. Probiotics help to restore the natural bacteria in the urinary tract, reducing the growth of harmful bacteria. Including probiotic-rich foods in your diet may support your immune system and help combat UTIs naturally.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is known for its antibacterial properties, which may help reduce the bacteria causing a UTI. It also helps balance the pH levels of the urinary tract, making it less conducive to bacterial growth. To use ACV for UTI relief, mix one or two tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of warm water and drink it once or twice a day.
5. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that strengthens the immune system and helps acidify the urine, making it more difficult for harmful bacteria to thrive. Eating foods rich in vitamin C, such as oranges, strawberries, bell peppers, and broccoli, can help manage and prevent UTIs. If you prefer supplements, consult a dietitian in Chandigarh for personalized guidance on the right dosage.
6. Baking Soda
Baking soda can neutralize the acidity in the urine, which may alleviate the burning sensation when urinating. By reducing the acidity, baking soda can also help to flush out bacteria more effectively. Mix half a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it once a day. However, this remedy is not recommended for those with high blood pressure, as it may increase sodium intake.
7. D-Mannose
D-Mannose is a type of sugar found in certain fruits, like cranberries, and is often used to treat UTIs naturally. D-Mannose works by preventing harmful bacteria from adhering to the walls of the urinary tract. You can find D-Mannose supplements in health stores or online, but it’s important to speak with a healthcare professional before using this remedy to ensure its suitability for your health.
8. Garlic
Garlic is known for its antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, which make it an effective remedy for infections, including UTIs. Garlic contains allicin, a compound that can kill the bacteria causing the infection. You can eat raw garlic, add it to your meals, or take garlic supplements. A daily dose of garlic may help boost your immune system and prevent bacterial infections.
9. Heat Therapy
Heat therapy can provide relief from the discomfort caused by a UTI. Applying a heating pad or warm compress to the lower abdomen or pelvic area can help soothe pain and reduce inflammation. Make sure the heat is not too intense to avoid burns, and only use it for 15-20 minutes at a time. This method can offer temporary relief from UTI-related pain.
10. Herbal Remedies
Several herbs have been shown to have properties that can support urinary tract health. Some popular herbs used to treat UTIs include:
Uva Ursi (Bearberry): Known for its antibacterial effects, Uva Ursi may help reduce infection-causing bacteria in the urinary tract.
Goldenseal: This herb is believed to have antimicrobial properties and can support the body in fighting off bacterial infections.
Horsetail: Often used as a diuretic, horsetail can help increase urination, which aids in flushing out bacteria from the urinary system.
Before using any herbal remedy, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you're already taking medications, as some herbs may interact with drugs.
Conclusion
While antibiotics are often necessary to fully treat a UTI, these home remedies can provide relief and prevent the infection from worsening, especially when used in combination with a healthy diet and lifestyle. Staying hydrated, consuming probiotics, and incorporating vitamin C-rich foods can be excellent first steps in managing UTIs naturally.
If you’re prone to recurrent UTIs or are seeking personalized dietary recommendations for better urinary tract health, consulting a qualified dietitian in Chandigarh is a wise choice. A registered dietitian can help you with dietary plans that support your immune system and overall health, potentially reducing your susceptibility to UTIs in the future.
Remember, these home remedies should be used as complementary options and not as substitutes for medical treatment, especially in severe cases. If your symptoms persist or worsen, make sure to seek medical advice promptly.

Is Apple Cider Vinegar Safe for Pregnant Women?
Tumblr media
Is Apple Cider Vinegar Safe for Pregnant Women?
During pregnancy, prioritizing the health of both mother and child is crucial, and knowing which foods and supplements are safe is essential. While apple cider vinegar (ACV) is widely praised for its health benefits, its safety for pregnant women remains a topic of discussion.
Though ACV is often viewed as a natural remedy with several wellness benefits, there are important factors expectant mothers should consider.
This article explores the question, “Can I drink apple cider vinegar while pregnant?” We’ll dive into its benefits, potential risks, and tips for safe consumption during pregnancy.
What is Apple Cider Vinegar Made Of?
Apple cider vinegar is made from apple juice that goes through a two-step fermentation process, transforming sugars first into alcohol and then into acetic acid. This process results in a nutrient-rich vinegar containing vitamins, minerals, and enzymes.
ACV comes in both pasteurized and unpasteurized forms. Filtered, pasteurized ACV removes any sediment and bacteria, while unfiltered versions are raw and unprocessed.
Is Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Safe for Pregnant Women?
In general, apple cider vinegar (ACV) can be safe to consume during pregnancy, but certain precautions are necessary. Understanding both the benefits and potential risks of ACV during pregnancy is important.
It's recommended to consult your doctor before including ACV in your diet, especially if you’re pregnant, have any health conditions, or have a weaker immune system. Raw, unpasteurized ACV can be potent and may carry harmful bacteria.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar During Pregnancy
ACV may relieve certain pregnancy symptoms, though pasteurized vinegar is generally considered the safest option.
Relief from Morning Sickness: ACV’s acidity may help with nausea and other gastrointestinal issues, potentially providing some relief from morning sickness.
Supports Digestion: ACV may aid in digestion and detoxification. Its probiotics help maintain gut health, potentially alleviating constipation and acid reflux.
Eases Leg Cramps: Rich in potassium, ACV may help reduce pregnancy-related leg cramps, which often result from low potassium levels and circulatory changes.
Prevents UTIs: Enzymes and minerals in ACV may help prevent urinary tract infections. Consult with a doctor regarding appropriate use.
Supports Blood Pressure and Circulation: The acetic acid in ACV may help lower blood pressure and improve circulation, potentially easing varicose veins and swelling.
Potential Risks of Apple Cider Vinegar for Pregnant Women
Gestational Diabetes and Sugar Content: ACV has natural sugars, so it’s wise to monitor intake, especially if there’s a risk of gestational diabetes.
Avoid Hard Cider: Pregnant women should avoid alcoholic varieties of apple cider, as alcohol is not safe at any stage of pregnancy.
Heartburn and Acidity: ACV’s acidity may exacerbate heartburn and acid reflux, which are common in pregnancy, especially in later stages.
Bacterial Contamination: Unpasteurized ACV may contain harmful bacteria like E. coli or Listeria, which can be risky during pregnancy.
Can Apple Cider Vinegar Cause Miscarriage in Early Pregnancy?
No scientific evidence links apple cider vinegar (ACV) to miscarriage in early pregnancy. However, it’s generally safer to opt for pasteurized foods over raw or unpasteurized ones during pregnancy, as raw ACV may carry a slight risk of bacterial contamination, which could be harmful for those with weakened immune systems, including expectant mothers.
To stay on the safe side, consult your healthcare provider before adding ACV or any new supplement to your diet during pregnancy. They can provide guidance suited to your specific health needs.
How to Safely Consume Apple Cider Vinegar During Pregnancy?
Apple cider vinegar should never be taken undiluted due to its high acidity, which can damage teeth and irritate the esophagus. If you choose to consume ACV, dilute it with water—1 to 2 teaspoons per cup (240ml) of water is recommended. Start with a small amount and monitor your body’s reaction. Avoid if you have digestive issues, heartburn, or reflux, and consider using ACV sparingly, such as in salad dressings, to minimize discomfort.
 When to Consult a Gynecologist
If you experience any adverse reactions like skin rash, stomach discomfort, nausea, or dizziness after consuming ACV, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
Can You Use Vinegar for a Pregnancy Test?
Yes, it’s possible to use vinegar as a basic at-home pregnancy test. When mixed, the HCG hormone in a pregnant woman’s urine may cause vinegar to change color. However, the accuracy of this test is limited, so it's best to confirm with a medical-grade test.
Bottom Line
A balanced diet, regular prenatal care, and cautious use of apple cider vinegar can support a healthy pregnancy. If unsure about adding ACV to your diet, consult your healthcare provider to ensure it’s a safe choice.

Kidney stone formation may slightly elevate serum creatinine levels. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, which may lower the risk of kidney stone formation. Its antimicrobial properties may help ward off bacterial infections and may prevent your blood creatinine levels from increasing. But, scientific research is lacking in this aspect.
