my beloved appealshipping :) a redraw/continuation of an old drawing from 2021 (under the cut along with design stuff as always)

august 2021 -> may 2024

this was the first digital drawing i think i was ever like super proud of. you can see how far ive come with colours and understanding how clothes & anatomy work since back then. however, i still really liked how they were dressed (especially how they matched :>) and decided to just tweak them to what i wanted. dawn's outfit was initially based on how she looked in an official advertisement (dominos pizza i think ???) which is why her hairstyle was a bit weird. in my second drawing i changed it to look more like her usual hairstyle because i like it more. zoey's outfit was meant to be a tuxedo but i wasn't super familiar with how suits work; i gave her a vest & jacket buttons in the second drawing to make it look a bit more fancy and formal but also because i was initially missing a yellow element from her outfit and this time i wouldn't have the shoes for that navy element. i love how the new one looks and theres still stuff im not super pleased with but its definitely an improvement and i loved making it :)

In the polycule of Ash, Dawn & Zoey, do they sleep in the spooning position or any other way in particular?

I dunno, I honestly don't think much about those details?

I just know that when they're all together (which is not often since they would still often be travelling around) Dawn usually sleeps in in the middle, to avoid this sort of happening:

Have you imagined Ursula (Dawn's arch rival) flirting with Zoey to spite on Dawn and Ash temporarily giving Dawn his Sparkle Brooch so that she can defend her girlfriend?

I like this idea.

When Ash found out about the Ursula situation, he decided to help Dawn out by lending her the Sparkle Brooch, as he trusted her to use its power for good. At first, he thought she was going to take on a Swordfighter or Mighty form, but she chose a more elegant solution instead.

Dawn transformed into a Figure Skater named Diamond Dust (it’s best not to point out that this gives people another excuse to call her “DeeDee”), and she proceeds to spin circles around Ursula and prove that she is far more fabulous. Once Ursula stormed off in a huff, Diamond Dust proceeded to sweep Zoey off her feet and the two danced on the ice together.

Yeah so we were talking about appeal/pallet/contest solidarity and themes, respectively. Have my completely uncensored and unedited 2 am thoughts on this.
