Seeing this, members of the Jain Samaj from Itwari took inspiration from Mr. Badkur and formed teams and got into action to support the migrant labourers in distress and started onto the field on the 26th of March 20’ without fearing for one's own safety and life threatening pandemic wide spread.  Soon a large Community of members from Sangh joined hands and individuals started volunteering for the noble cause.The trust under discussion is “Shri Gyanoday Seva Sangh” which founded in 1992under the umbrella of “Shri Digambar Jain Parwar Mandir Trust”and with the blessings of “Acharya Shreeji Guruvar”. This sang also runs a hospital which has its own OPD, Dental and Physio Therapy Services for needy. Important to know is that this is not the first time the Sangh has come to the rescue for people in need, back in the year 2012 the Sangh has provide a complete meal to 60,000 people for a meagre 10 Rs. For 7 days and that is where they mastered their culinary skills for mass cooking and distribution. For selection of area and doing survey, the members got special support from Additional Commissioner; Mr. Nilesh Barne Sir & his team helped them in identifying the localities. It took, 49 days to distribute to 1,25,000 people with food, 150 ration kits to 150 families which comprised of 15 days ration for an entire family. "Punya karke apna Jeevan ko Safal karo"  With the blessings of Acharya Shreeji Guruvar and meticulous planning amongst the team members of sanghs they were able to carry on the task up their sleeves without any hurdle. Remembering Om Prakash, one of Hindi cinema's most versatile character actors, on his 98th birth anniversary today.

Om Prakash (19 December 1919 – 21 February 1998) was a character actor. He was born in Lahore, now India as Om Prakash Chibber. He used to play the role of Kamla in the stage play by the famous Dewan Mandir Natak Samaj Koliwada. Starting his career in 1942, he was a popular supporting actor from the 1950s until the 1980s.

Om Prakash played the leading man in films like Dus Lakh, Annadata and Charandas 'Sadhu aur Shaitan'. His pivotal roles in the films Dil Daulat Duniya, Chupke Chupke, Julie, Joroo Ka Ghulam, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, Pyar Kiye Jaa, Padosan and Buddha Mil Gaya are considered to be among his best along with Daddu in Namak Halaal and De Silva in Zanjeer. His roles in 'Sharabi', 'Bharosa', 'Tere Ghar Ke Samne', 'Mere Humdum Mere Dost', 'Loafar', 'Dil Tera Diwana' were also appreciated.

He is known for his roles in comedy films. One of his best performances in his later years were Naukar Biwi Ka, Sharaabi (1984) and Chameli Ki Shaadi, where he played a role that was pivotal for the movie. He joined All India Radio in 1937 on a monthly salary of Rs 25. He was known as “Fateh Din”, a radio personality and his programmes made him popular all over Lahore and Punjab.

Om Prakash was a versatile actor with 307 films to his credit. One can never forget his comic performances in Howrah Bridge, Dus Lakh (he won his first major award for this performance), Pyar Kiye Jaa, Padosan, Sadhu Aur Shaitaan, Dil Daulat Duniya, Chupke Chupke, Namak Halaal, Gol Maal and Chameli Ki Shaadi. His performance as Dilip Kumar’s elder brother in Gopi gave his career new impetus. He proved that he could play mature roles with equal ease and depth: Films like Chacha Zindabad, Khandan, Haryali Aur Raasta, Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, Pati Patni, Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare, Mere Hamdam Mere Dost, Annadata, Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati, Doli, Chirag, Amar Prem, Aankh Micholi, Ek Hasina Do Diwane, Anuraag, Zanjeer, Sagina, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, Loafer, Roti, Julie, Khushboo, Lawaaris, Bandish, Sharaabi and Chameli Ki Shaadi.

Om Prakash had a special rapport with Amitabh Bachchan and both worked in many successful films spanning from Zanjeer to Sharaabi.

Prakash produced many films Sanjog (1961), Jahan Ara (1964) and Gateway of India (1957).

Indian women leaders trolled more than those in US, UK, says report - india news

Indian women politicians experience substantially higher online abuse than their United Kingdom and United States of America counterparts, a first-of-its-kind report that tracked digital abuse over Twitter around last year’s general elections has revealed.Amnesty India International-International Secretariat analysed 114,716 tweets that mentioned 95 women politicians between March and May 2019 — the elections were conducted over April and May — and found that 13.8% of them were abusive and problematic.By comparison, in 2017, Amnesty International and Element AI, a software company, surveyed millions of tweets received by 778 journalists and politicians — all women — from the United Kingdom and the United States of America, representing a variety of political views. Among their top findings, 7.1% of tweets sent to the women in the study were problematic or abusive, amounting to 1.1 million tweets over 365 days.‘Troll Patrol India: Exposing Online Abuse Faced by Women Politicians in India’ includes Twitter’s response as well as Amnesty’s recommendations. The report did not name the women.Amnesty revealed that of the 95 women politicians, 44 were from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 28 were from the Indian National Congress (INC), and 23 were from other parties such as Aam Aadmi Party, Apna Dal, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, All India Trinamool Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) among others.The study relied upon the perception of decoders who were shown tweets with the username obscured, and were then asked questions about whether the tweets were problematic or abusive, and if so, whether they revealed misogynistic, casteist or racist abuse, or other types of violent threats. Most of the tweets analysed were in English.The report found that the more marginal the identity, the higher the frequency of problematic and abusive tweets. The seven Muslim women among the 95 experienced 55.5% more problematic or abusive content compared to others. Women from marginalised castes (total 19) received 59% more casteist slurs than women from general castes.According to the women politicians HT spoke to as well as those quoted in the report, the issue of online abuse cuts across party lines.“Everyone suffers trolls, but for women, it is taken to another level. It’s all unrelated to politics and very personal things (are said) that men are never asked,” Shazia Ilmi, a member of the BJP, told HT.“I was told that ‘I have no right to speak as a Muslim woman’. Rape threats were routine, as were character assassinations, insinuations about my sexual relationships with older men,” the report quoted Hasiba Amin, INC’s national convener, social media, as saying.CPI (ML) Polit Bureau member Kavita Krishnan told HT that it was incorrect to refer to this abuse as trolling. “What we face is an organised, concerted campaign of threats and abuse, unleased by the ruling party, led specifically by persons holding public office — a governor — various BJP MPs and MLAs, and handles followed by the Prime Minister and various cabinet ministers.”In response to Amnesty International India, in November 2019 Twitter listed several measures it has taken to decrease the levels of online abuse during the 2019 general elections.“Across Twitter, more than 50% of tweets we took action on for abuse were proactively surfaced using technology, rather than relying on reports from people who use Twitter,” it pointed out.“There was a 48% increase in accounts reported for potential violations of our Hateful Conduct policies... Similarly, we saw a 22% increase in accounts reported for potential violations of our abuse policies. We took action on 68% more accounts compared to the last reporting period.”However, the report pointed out that more needs to be done: “The abuse in India is often in a variety of regional languages, including colloquial slang or Hindi in English (Latin) script. All this potentially escapes the radar of Twitter’s auto language detection.”“We are aware that women in India, especially female politicians, may be more susceptible to abuse by virtue of the socio-cultural identities that they may hold. BJP crosses 300 mark, Congress bags 52 as counting nears end

NEW DELHI: Sealing its phenomenal electoral victory, the Narendra Modi-led BJP crossed the 300 mark and was leading in one seat as counting for votes for 542 Lok Sabha seats neared its end on Friday. The massive exercise began Thursday morning with early trends establishing the BJP's conclusive lead, making it evident that Modi's message, packaging muscular nationalism, security and Hindu pride, had worked wonders. With the BJP riding a Modi wave that took it past its 2014 tally of 282, the opposition was left way behind with the Congress winning only 52 seats, two less than it needs for a Leader of Opposition post in the lower house and marginally more than the 44 it got in the last general elections. Regional parties followed the Congress in the electoral table. The DMK with 23 wins, the Trinamool Congress and the YSRCP with 22 each, the Shiv Sena with 18 and the Janata Dal-United with 16 made their presence felt in an election that took on overtones of a presidential contest with the domination of Modi. The other regional parties, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, did not fare well. The BJP and its ally Apna Dal(S) won 64 of the 80 seats in the state, demolishing the challenge posed by the SP-BSP alliance. The Samajwadi Party (SP) won five seats and its alliance partner Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 10. Left parties CPI and CPI-M were left with five seats -- three for the CPI-M and two for the CPI. This is about half of their tally of 10 in 2014. Election Commission figures also showed the BJP had won 302 and was leading in one. With the elections establishing 68-year-old Modi as the most popular leader in decades, the BJP and its allies in the National Democratic Alliance(NDA) are poised to clinch around 350 seats as against their previous 336. Such was the force of the BJP wave that even Congress president Rahul Gandhi lost in his bastion of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh to Smriti Irani, but in consolation prize won the Wayanad seat in Kerala. Former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda also bit the dust when he lost the Tumkur seat in Karnataka where the BJP bagged 25 of the 28 seats. After Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, Modi is the third prime minister of the country and the first non-Congress one who has been able to retain power for a second term with full majority. BJP placates sulking allies SBSP, Apna Dal (S) in UP ahead of LS elections

Before the final countdown to the Lok Sabha elections 2019, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has managed to placate its sulking allies in the high prized state of Uttar Pradesh, which is heading for a massive showdown during voting in April and May.

Its principal allies in UP viz. Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Apna Dal (S) had been unhappy over the ‘high-handed’ approach adopted by the party towards them.

While SBSP president and UP cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar had been openly giving statements against BJP leadership and even challenging the Yogi Adityanath government to sack him, Apna Dal (S) patron and union minister Anupriya Patel had also recently expressed dismay over the treatment meted out to her party by the BJP.

There were reports of Patel holding parleys with top Congress leadership in New Delhi over a possible pre-poll understanding. In 2014 elections, Apna Dal had won 2 seats (Pratapgarh and Mirzapur), while BJP emerged victorious on 71 seats of the total 80 LS seats in the state, helping the saffron party form the next government at the Centre with a majority.

Reservation should be based on population, says BJP UP ally Apna Dal

Diverse views of BJP allies Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) and Apna Dal (Sonelal) in Uttar Pradesh on reservation to backward classes have become thorn in the flesh for the ruling party ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

While the SBSP has given 100 days' ultimatum to the BJP to implement recommendations of a social justice committee on backward reservations, the Apna Dal (Sonelal) has raised questions on the basis of the report without caste census.

The committee constituted in May last year had in its recommendations to the state government favoured division of backward castes in three categories -- backward, 'ati picchda' (very backward) and 'sarvadhik picchda' (most backward).

"The recommendations of the committee cannot be implemented without caste census. The government should first do caste census and then implement any such recommendation.

The reservation should be according to 'jiski jitni sankhya bhari, uski utni bhagidaari' (based on population). And when the government has not done any census, how can it provide quota within quota," Union minister and Apna Dal (S) leader Anupriya Patel said.

"If without caste census, the government implements the recommendations, it will be seen as a move of the government to create infighting among backwards," she said.

On the other had, SBSP chief and cabinet minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said, "If the government does not implement recommendations of the report within 100 days, my party will leave the BJP and contest on all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh."
