We have seen throughout this book that women's autonomy had to be hard won before creativity could flourish. The cultural context for women's creativity was quite different from that of men. The absence of heroines and of Women's History crippled even the most talented women or deflected their talents into less ambitious or shorter forms: poems rather than drama cycles; letters and journals rather than works of philosophy. The social embarrassment connected with female authorship and publication created enormous tensions in women of talent, whose gifts, to be fully realized, demanded ambition, long-range goal-setting and a desire for fame. The social definitions of "femininity" and the unending familial obligations imposed on women made concentrated attention to professional writing difficult if not impossible for most women. Up until the middle of the 19th century it is rare to find a female writer who did not have to pay for her intellectual productivity with a distorted and unhappy life. Whether women had to forgo their sexual lives in order to have leisure and permission to think, imagine and create, whether they had to abandon marriage and motherhood in order to be free to concentrate on themselves and their intellectual product—they faced more obstacles than did their brothers in the pursuit of similar aims.

Beginning with Aphra Behn, there were also some women who defied societal taboos and led liberated or at least unconventional lives. They paid a heavy price for whatever happiness they derived from their lifestyles, and in a number of cases their work was repressed or denied a reading public because of the scandal they created. Mary Wollstonecraft is the best known example of this pattern: she was a writer reaching a wide reading public when, after her early death in childbirth, her life became a scandal. This was due to her husband's decision to publish a memoir of her life and a collection of her letters to her lover which made it apparent that she had had an illegitimate child and lived with two men outside of marriage. Thereafter, her life was paraded as an example of debauchery and of the linkage between feminism and deviance. This kind of attack on her was made all through the 19th century and was still being printed in the 1950s. It undoubtedly discouraged other women from having access to her work and from taking it seriously.

Frances Wright, a radical Scotswoman living in the United States in the 1820s and 30s, who was a follower of Robert Dale Owen and who formed a utopian colony of her own, was slandered in press and pulpit and lost most of her influence because of her advocacy of sexual freedom and racial intermarriage. Her name became an epithet, actually; to be a "Fanny Wrightist" was to be a deviant. These are just two examples of many others that could be cited from different countries. Women's lives and women's work were constantly in tension with patriarchal gender definitions.

the two heads of the “gemini empire” initially gained fame from their time as members of the first-generation girl group, INOIR in 1995. amidst the group’s massive success, kang was suddenly kicked out with a vague explanation of “breach of contract” in early 1998. jeong followed suit, announcing her departure from the group in support of her friend, criticizing the agency for its evil contract terms. adopting successful independent solo careers of their own launched the two former girl group members to individual stardom while maintaining their essential friendship both publicly and privately. in 2000, jeong and kang announced they would be opening their own entertainment agency, gemini inc. as an ethically standardized company. three years later, jeong opened the company’s first subsidiary, APRICUS CULTURE.

the initial success of apricus was only cemented by the label’s spreading reputation of being a company focused on development of quality talent rather than crafting squeaky clean manufactured celebrities. beginning with the debut of pop-rock soloist ALLISON NAM on may 16, 2003, apricus broke records previously held by larger, more established companies with relative ease. naturally, the mission and core value of apricus has caused controversy since their inception nineteen years ago. typically surrounding dating, favoritism, and drug scandals, apricus’ idols are frequently ridiculed for being the “western idols of k-pop”, referencing their immense popularity and famously bad behavior.

the company is known for their transparent and often uncensored idols as well as their emphasis on star power. with control over the complete management of their idols and artists, apricus has been one-half of the talent standard in korean entertainment alongside their sister company, solaria gardens. in general, apricus culture is one of the most easily recognized companies due to their distinct visual direction and strict musical, performance, and media training. fans have taken issue with some of the obvious instances of nepotism which netizens often joke is the “culture” of apricus culture.

Kei Zama:

Kei Zama (座間 慧 Zama Kei) is a Japanese comic artist and metalhead. After discovering Last Stand of the Wreckers, they fell hard for Transformers and started hunting down every Western comic they could, with Geoff Senior and Derek Yaniger being faves and influences for their "powerful and aggressive" styles.

Starting as a regular cover artist for IDW Publishing, they became the regular artist on Optimus Prime in late 2016.

As well as Transformers, they've drawn for their fan-fave 2000 AD: starting with those other war robots, ABC Warriors, for a 2017 Free Comic Book Day special. They were unsure about doing it at the same time as starting their ongoing Optimus Prime gig but John Barber, their co-creator, talked them into it.

Kei Zama is a Japanese comic book artist who has worked on several Star Wars projects for Marvel Comics as an illustrator and cover artist, including War of the Bounty Hunters – 4-LOM & Zuckuss 1, Life Day 1, and Doctor Aphra (2020) 21. They enjoy the prequel trilogy films and appreciated the experience of drawing characters from the 1999 prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace for the Pride Month variant cover of Darth Vader (2020) 24.

My opinions for this artist, they have made lot of details when they are making transformers comics as which they've drawn for their fan-fave 2000 AD which is starting with those other war robots aka Cybertrons and Decepticons.

Ben Templesmith:

Ben Templesmith is an Australian comic book artist best known for his work in the American comic book industry, most notably the Image Comics series Fell, with writer Warren Ellis, and IDW's 30 Days of Night with writer Steve Niles, which was adapted into a motion picture of the same name.

Templesmith produced his first commercial American comics work in 2001, providing the art for Todd McFarlane Productions' Hellspawn, which was published by Image Comics. He has gone on to create his own original works as well as contribute to many licensed properties at various publishers, most notably IDW Publishing, with which he had an exclusive agreement through most of 2008 and part of 2009 before returning to being a freelancer.

Original works Templesmith has produced include the miniseries Welcome to Hoxford, the New York Times best-selling Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse Tommyrot: The Art of Ben Templesmith, Conluvio and Choker at Image Comics with writer Ben McCool. He also provided a number of covers for the Oni Press series Wasteland.

In April 2012, DC Entertainment announced that Templesmith would be one of the artists illustrating a new digital Batman series with stories set outside regular DC continuity.

My opinions for this artist, that his art works have like different emotions but he want it to be in the dark theme scene on the comic as it very unusual for it in the comic itself as it is like explaining the emotions with colours but in dark theme style.

Joëlle Jones:

Joëlle Jones is an American comic book artist and writer, best known for her work on Lady Killer, a series published in 2015–2017 by Dark Horse Comics, for her cover work on various Marvel Comics series, and for her work writing and illustrating DC Comics series including Batman and Catwoman.

Joëlle Jones is an Eisner nominated artist currently living and working in Los Angeles, CA. Since attending PNCA in Portland, OR, she has contributed to a wide range of projects and has most recently has worked on Batman for DC comics. She also wrote and drew the series, Lady Killer, published by Dark Horse comics. Jones has also provided the art for fashion designer Prada, and various projects for Marvel, Boom, Vertigo, Oni Press and The New York Times.  Joëlle currently has projects with DC comics as well as continuing her Series Lady Killer.

My opinions for this artist, that her art works has very complexing colours on her work as she works on the details little by little as she had made positive spaces and aswell negative spaces to show what specific parts that our attention should be.

New month, new journal pages! I finished out January with 14 books read - standouts were Georgie, All Along by @kateclayborn.author, What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat by @yrfatfriend, and The Birchbark House by Louise Erdrich (which had an outstanding audiobook production). I love how colorful my bookshelf turned out 💙 And onto February with these beautiful pinks inspired by @mochibujo February Patreon kit 💖💖💖 Hedda’s setup also inspired me to try waterfall tabs instead of my file-folder style tabs and I really love how it turned out. I might keep using these style tabs here on out 😻 All the washi tapes are from Notebook Therapy (Moonlit Blush, Winter Moonflower, and Vintage Rose 2) and some of the extra rose stickers are from The Washi Tape Shop. (Had a little trouble with the drop-shadows on playlist/habits so that turned into a colorblock 😹) I also added a new challenge spread to my collections journal - Blackathon hosted by Jesse @bowtiesandbooks is this month!! When I tell you that I feel bad for not working out for a month now, it’s cause I REALLY do. Haven’t gained weight. Maybe like 1 or 2 lbs. but I lose them once I stay active during the day doing other stuff.

Very productive yesterday. It’s Sunday so I’m taking it slow. I’ve been working on other resumes.

I’m not too excited about the social work thing. Don’t know if I should take it. But I’m definitely taking those baking classes 💕

⸻ ⠀𓆩*𓆪 . ㅤ ╱ ㅤ ﹙  KAYAK72  ﹚    &.&    is a fictional record label based in new york city, usa, established by KEON HINTON in july of 2014. the label was created by hinton as a reaction to the legal battle with his former label, NEVERBOUND RECORDS, over the ownership of his produced, written, and released music. priding itself on artistic self-expression and self-representation, the label slowly rose to visionary status within the american music industry.

despite hinton’s pristine public reputation, his label struggled to find funding and established talent due to his blacklisted status within the industry. the label resorted to finding talent from the internet to build up their roster, cosigning onto indie projects, and acting as a creative space for joint ventures rather than hinton’s initial ambitions for the label. continuing to struggle with funding throughout 2014, kayak72 began filing for bankruptcy in late 2014, the process being halted suddenly with the additions of hinton's half-brother, TEVIN HINTON as chief operating officer & his wife, ROMINA RICCHETTI-HINTON, as creative director.

under ricchetti’s creative direction, kayak72 was pulled from financial disaster through the signing of producer RAQI as head of musical production. ricchetti eventually pushed hinton towards a solution for the label’s financial struggles: the label’s first music group. with the recent disbanding of one direction, ricchetti saw the opportunity for a new group to fill the vacated spot. after holding an open call for auditions, ricchetti called in a favor from close friend CLAUDIA VALENTE, the creative director of GEMINI INC. to assist in constructing a training program similar to the one established by the south korean label. through this program, kayak72 debuted their boy group, DIEM, a year later.

the group debuted to immense success, immediately commanding international attention, gaining them an american music award for new artist of the year in november of 2015. with newfound prominence, kayak72 forged a more significant alliance with gemini inc., even forming a joint venture in the scouting of the girl group, APHRA EVE, which would debut a year after their male predecessors.
