Grindstone, Matchmaker, what’s the difference?

Grindstone #173 and Mikha’s #16. A unique one! In multiple ways!

It started, as ever, with everyone lining up to call out their names and weapons.

Mikha’s first fight was against an Au Ra named Sinner. 

"Let us have a good match."

The man fought like no one Mikha had faced before. He fought like no one Mikha had ever seen before! Using his usual tactic, Mikha took off at a run. Sinner followed him... on all fours. He chased Mikha the whole time, never rising up onto his legs.  He pounced at the archer and tried to claw him, and at one point tried to gore Mikha with his horns. But Mikha was fast and lucky, and came out on top.

Aoi Obinata, the judge, announced: Mikha defeats a Wash regular, Sinner! 

Mikha’s second fight was almost his last.  He was paired up with Alyse Farraday.

"And don't worry, I try not to thrust too hard with cuties such as yourself."

A pretty Dragoon, from Ishgard, called Mikha cute.  He was so distracted by her flirting, he took two quick hits before he even realized it. 

It looked like it would be over fast, but thanks to their fighting location (the Wash, a wide, slow-moving stream), he was able to gain ground, draw even with her score, then make the final blow. It was a messy fight though, and thanks to his initial lack of focus, he really was lucky to have won.

But not only did he come out with the win, he now has a date with her as well!

Round three, and the Wash finals. He was matched up against Aaron Frostheart, also a member of the Agents FC. 

Your move. I'll just play defense.

He gave Mikha the chance to strike first, but it didn’t make much of a difference. Mikha was outclassed by the Grindstone veteran. Hit after hit landed, sending Mikha into the water once more. Though he used a greatsword, Aaron moved like a Dragoon, crossing long distances in a jump. He drove Mikha off his feet.

Mikha got one single hit in, but it was over fast. 

Even though he lost, Mikha had a darned good night. He got to the third round, which he’s only done twice before. He fought TWO Grindstone vets. And he got a date!
