Vasili’s Retirement
Here's an aesthetic moodboard I made of Vasili when he was in the KGB!
Tumblr media
Summary: Charkov convincing Vasili to retire after giving his full service in the KGB. What made the General do so? And would Vasili agree to it?
Note: This is where I change some of the canon story for my Bell! General Charkov being a father figure for Vasili and Dimitri.
Warnings: None
Word count: 1,293 words.
“Amidst the complexities that are rising in between the relationship with the East and the West, we solemnly take your contribution as a huge factor to handle the situation quite well, Major Vasili.” The General of the KGB, Anton Charkov talks as Vasili carefully listens to his superior who called in for an important discussion. Charkov pours a cup of tea inside Vasili’s cup and for himself.
“Take a sip.” Charkov offered Vasili to partake of the beverage, as he needed the conversation to be as neutral and calm as possible, even knowing it was a hard decision for the General who was holding a heavy heart within himself to tell the news. Vasili grabbed the cup handle and took a sip of the tea, before placing it back on the General’s desk.
“But as we’re worried about the safety and security of the organisation, along with your own being... you’ve already made a lot of enemies, Vasili.” Charkov furrowed his eyebrows, placing the brim of the cup on his lips as he sipped the tea inside, before pulling back and kept it on the desk, crossing his hands. “And it’s not because we don’t trust you, but we’re only trying to keep the secrets within ourselves. You know a lot more than they do. You’re their prime target.”
“You mean the CIA could be behind me anytime? Regardless they’re the ones desperate to catch me and miserably failed.. somehow?” Vasili raised an eyebrow.
“Possibly. You can’t always trust your wits, Vasili. This isn’t a game, but a matter of serious consideration. Your life's on the line, and it’s standing on a tightrope. You’d never know if the pressure would soon be unbearable, that would likely make not only you, but the whole KGB at risk. Even if you die or get captive, it’s the same consequence.”
“So... what do you want me to do?” Vasili questioned.
Charkov held a heavy heart while trying to reveal his response to the Major. He sighed, and shook his head, and faced the officer again, feeling prepared. “You should retire.”
Vasili was astonished by that order, and it made his eyes widen. He forgot about everything at that very moment, from hearing Charkov’s response. It felt like a part of him was about to shatter. The very duty that kept him sane and dedicated, only for him to be told that he should finally let go of it. “But... General I – “
“I know, Sokolov. This is a very, very hard decision that I took upon myself. But I also had to hold a cabinet meeting for it. They advised you to retire but go undercover with a new identity and appearance. Conceal yourself as much as you can... the Western powers would do everything, and anything to get to you. And I’m not saying this as a KGB General... but as a concerned father.” Charkov tried to assure Vasili that whatever he was doing was for the sake of the whole nation’s safety and security. He didn’t want to lose it... but he wouldn’t want to see his country fall as well, only because he disagreed with what Charkov told him to do so.
With a bitter understanding, Vasili gave the nod, not wanting to condemn Charkov’s order. “Sir, yes sir.”
“Otlichno. I’m proud of you, Vasya.” Charkov lit up a smile, but Vasili had his face drowned in deep emotions. He had so much to succeed in, but turns out, this was the end. It felt like his glory days were over, but for the better, he agreed to leave the KGB on the General’s order.
“Don’t worry about what happens next here after your departure. Major Dimitri Belikov would take your place from now on. I trust him as much as I do with you, too. You both made me really proud, and I wish you luck.” Charkov extended his hand towards Vasili for a handshake.
Vasili gave a slight smile and joined the handshake the General offered to him. As Vasili got up from his chair and started to leave the office and walked through the hallway, he saw Dimitri, who too was also approaching the General’s office. The man stopped in surprise, who concealed his pain by leaving the duty to greet his beloved friend. “Dima?”
“Vasya!” Dimitri gave him a grin. “What happened? Did you do something mischievous again, that made Anton Charkov give you a huge, philosophical lecture? Like the last time?” He laughed it out, but Vasili gave a sly smile, knowing the truth.
“Ah, no Dima I... I think this is my last meeting with you.” Vasili spoke in a demotivated tone. Dimitri’s smile vanished when he said that, but he tried to brush it off thinking he may be joking with him.
“Oh, zamolchi! You’re playing with me. Aren’t you?” Dimitri laughed it out, but Vasili shook his head back.
“I’m being honest.” There was a moment of silence for a second, in between each other. Dimitri was still confused, and Vasili was the one to break it again. “I’m retiring.”
“What?!” Dimitri said in shock. “Are you serious, how could you retire – “
“I understand you feel the same as me, Dimitri. But... this is only for the sake of the nation’s safety and security.” Vasili replied. “Charkov and I have talked about it, and he wants you to take my place instead.”
Dimitri was internally disagreeing with him, as he didn’t want to believe it at first. But hearing Vasili’s words, he felt conflicted. “But... I could never be like you.”
“You’re misunderstood. Charkov trusts you like he trusts me. You’ve been assigned with a responsibility, Dima... and you must do it. For me.” Vasili grabbed onto his shoulders, assuring him. “I won’t be there, but I’d never forget what you did for me.”
Dimitri tried not to break in tears, seeing that his friend was now bidding a farewell from his post. Vasili gave him a hopeful smile and hugged him. Dimitri too hugged him back tighter, not wanting to let Vasili go this quick.
“It’ll be okay, Vasili...” Dimitri sniffs as he tries to control himself at this moment. “If you ever need something, get to me first. And it should be me only.”
Vasili pats his back and chuckles. “Of course, moy brat. Your number would be dialled first.”
“And if you feel you’re in danger... and I had to take my life for it, I will.”
“Shut up, Dima. You’re not dying, and when I’m still here, nothing would ever happen to you. Never.” Vasili looks at Dimitri and sets his cap and uniform. “That would be betrayal. That I kept a promise and you still decided to give your life for me.”
“But at least it’s better than a betrayal of trust.” Dimitri mentions something that did hold weight to Vasili’s thoughts. But he was curious about something else so he asked ahead before he could leave.
“Besides, did General Charkov call you in too?” Vasili asked, as Dimitri wipes off his tears as he responds. “Did you do something mischievous, instead?”
“No uhm, I wanted to have a conversation with him... maybe I’d talk about your leave and the new steps that I might have to follow while being in your shoes.”
“Oh, that’s currently necessary. You may take your leave, Major.” He saluted Belikov before departing, and so did Dimitri in return. As they both started to walk in the directions they were supposed to, Vasili slightly turned around to check on Belikov, and saw him fumbling with something in his hand before shoving it into his pocket and leaving a trace. Though Vasili didn’t really pay attention to it, and the scene ends to black when he exits.
Translations: Otlichno — amazing, Zamolchi — shut up/shut your mouth, Moy brat — my brother

How would Charles in BO6 feel about seeing Bell again after the events of Cold War, but in a more twisted and deranged version that he never saw before?
In the next game, Vasili lost all hope on humanity, even himself. The KGB has him on target, his best friend betrayed Vasili by shifting the blame of General Anton Charkov's murder onto him (so that his affiliation with the CIA won't be revealed), and sacrificed his own life, hoping Vasili would forgive him. He's on a constant hunt to find Adler, who is also running for his own life because the CIA now claims him as a traitor. He wants revenge over the man who took away everything from him. He doesn't want Koa, Aleks nor Charles himself to interfere in this because he knows this is a war between him and Adler, only.
But, what would Charles do in this situation?
Ohhhh, this is a great ask, seriously >:3
I think it'll be like a shock, a real big shock to see how his friend has changed in all those years after what happened and how he's even...alive. Also I imagine a bittersweet feeling for Charles, because he IS helping to prove Adler's innocence and he can notice how much Vasili wants to hunt the man, so probably it'll be bitter for him to choose, but at the same time he's happy and relieved to see him. Maybe Charles will try to negociate, he has always been good for that, so he'll try to convince Vasili to stop this, but even himself isn't sure if that can be stopped.
"Be- no, Vasili, please" he'd say, probably the first time he'll ever show any worry on his fase "I really don't know what happened to you, but please, don't do this. Just let's think for a moment and talk, the world is in flames already"
Then, if Vasili tells him about how BOTH agencies are looking for him, Charles will end without words until Vasili asks him, Koa and Aleks not to intervene.
"Wait! Just wait!" Charles'd say "maybe there's another way, anything but this..."
I don't know if this should have a good ending or a angsty ending :^

wake up sleepyhead | Bell/Belikov Hunter Killer-verse
It all started with another usual bantering argument between the Mi-24 gunship pilots and the hotshot MiG-25 fighter pilots. In true Soviet fashion, it devolved into a drinking contest between the two platoons.
Dimitri and yourself were the elected representatives for your Mi-24 gunship platoon in the drinking contest.
And, of course, the hotshot fighter pilot sitting next to you with the bottles of vodka and shot glasses ready took one look at you.
“You chose a woman to outdrink me, cowboys?” the fighter pilot laughed, leaning against the wooden bar counter. Your comrades simply shook their heads while smirking.
You smiled. That hotshot had no idea…
For more than several years, you’ve been unintentionally training for this. All those sleepless nights working on your dual major degree in mathematics and aerospace engineering resulted in increasing your alcohol tolerance.
You glanced at Dimitri next to you. He nodded with a confident smile.
“Good luck, Mitya,” you said, clapping him on the shoulder. Although, you knew he didn’t need it. You and your comrades could outdrink those hotshot fighter pilots any day of the week.
After all, you all rode in “drinking glasses.”
With cheers erupting around you, you turned to your opponent, who had filled the shot glasses up with the clear liquid of vodka.
“Cheers!”
And so the games began.
________________________________________________________________
“Chunga changa, the blue sky!” you sang merrily, giggling against Dimitri’s shoulder. It was you and Mitya’s song...of victory this time over those arrogant fighter pilots.
You blinked, seeing your vision swim every so often.
The barracks...the platoon barracks was that way, right?
“Chunga changa, summer all year round!” Dimitri joined you in singing this time with his arm slung around your shoulder. You stumbled once more, leaning against him with your hands grasping the fabric of his coat.
“Chunga changa, we have fun!” you sang along with him happily. The street lamps on the airfield base became a blur as you stumbled your way to the barracks with Dimitri.
“Chunga changa, we sing a song!” you exclaimed with a laugh. Ah, you loved this song so much. Your brother never understood why you loved the song like you did. But then again, Tasha was roped into singing the song along with your comrades before every mission…
Suddenly, the bright blurs in your vision disappeared. Looking up from Dimitri’s shoulder, you saw the familiar interior of the platoon barracks.
You sighed against his shoulder. The exhilaration of your victory and the song faded away into sudden drowsiness, “I’m tired, Mitya,” you murmured sleepily. You fought to keep your eyes from closing.
You needed a bed...to sleep.
You grasped Dimitri’s hand and pulled him with you as you stumbled towards the bed.
“Sleep, Mitya,” you said, tugging him closer, “Sleep.”
He laughed, “Alright, my friend. We’ll sleep!”
Just as Dimitri stepped ahead of you towards the bed, you suddenly found yourself falling. You braced yourself for the usual pain and soreness from cracking your head against the hard wooden floor only to blink at the lack of said pain.
You found yourself staring down at Dimitri. His own surprised gunmetal eyes met yours. The military hat laid askew on the bed. You leaned back only to realize something.
You were straddling him.
You blinked before murmuring, “Sorry, Mitya,” Your weight must have been uncomfortable for him. With a sigh, you rolled off of him and flopped onto the bed space next to him.
You sleepily stared up at the white ceiling.
I...I should move, you thought sleepily. But the bed was so comfortable, and it was always cold in your corner of the barracks.
And Mitya was warm, you noted.
Just as you were about to ask Dimitri, you noticed the slight calmness in his breathing.
He was sleeping.
You sighed.
Really you should get up and move-
But maybe for just several minutes, you decided, sleeping here was okay.
Really it would take only just a few minutes…
And with that, you closed your eyes-
-And promptly fell asleep.
_______________________________________________________________
“Wake up, соня!”
Your brother’s familiar voice shouted.
“Дерьмо,” Dimitri cursed under his breath, groaning. His arm shifted underneath your head at the sudden shout and opening of the blinds at the windows.
You blinked at the glaring sunlight boring into your eyes through the open blinds of the window. Sleepily, you pulled yourself up and noticed the sudden murmuring and whistles going around the room.
“What’s going on?” you asked, bringing a hand to your face and shielding your eyes from the harsh sunlight. It was morning already…?
And there he was.
Anton Charkov, your brother, stared at you in shock with his usual morning mug of tea in hand. In fact, he was in the process of drinking it-
“Tasha?” you asked confusedly. You glanced down at yourself, noticing the disarray your clothes were in. Your uniform jacket was uncomfortably at your elbows, while your telnyashka was rumpled and partially ridden up at your middle.
Gusev whistled, “Hit a home run, Dimitri?”
Anton Charkov proceeded to choke on his tea.
The next thing you heard was the thump of a knife sinking deep into the wooden post right next to Gusev’s head. You looked down to see Dimitri glaring at Gusev.
Mitya used the knife under his pillow, you thought drowsily.
“Отвали!” Dimitri scowled at Gusev. He pulled the blankets over you, covering your disheveled appearance. He got out of bed with a sigh, straightening the wrinkled appearance of his olive-green uniform jacket.
“Careful, Dimitri! Charkov here might break out the shotgun for his little sister.” Pavel said with a grin. He always did love some drama. Although, you didn’t quite get what the fuss was about.
This wasn’t the first time you slept with Mitya.
After all, you had fallen asleep with him in the supply closet while listening to late-night broadcasts of baseball games with the short-wave radio there.
“Nothing happened, idiots.” Dimitri sighed.
“It’s okay. You’re practically already married to Bell,” Pavel gestured to you with a smug look in his eyes, “I’m sure Charkov wouldn’t mind you being his brother in law.”
“I have another knife, Comrade Pavel.”
The said man nervously laughed, “Now, now, Dimitri-you know I’m just teasing here. Does that mean Bell here is available…?”
Dimitri smiled, although you couldn’t quite see the look in his eyes. Then again, Mitya was always so friendly. He simply said with a low chuckle, “You are not helping your case here, my friend.”
Pavel paled.

Author’s Note: This is a snippet from the military years of Bell and Belikov in the same helicopter assault platoon they worked as MI-24 gunship pilots in the Hunter Killer AU I’m working on. The Hunter Killer AU fic focuses on the KGB years of Bell and Belikov but experiences they shared prior to that will be referenced in the fic. I find it interesting to think about their years in the platoon together so I might write some more snippets about their time together there.
Anyways, I wrote this as a fun little idea I came up with haha. It is based on the “wake up sleepyhead” meme lol. Also, just in case there were any misunderstandings, Bell and Belikov literally only slept together in the same bed haha. And to clarify, Bell is Anton Charkov’s little sister in this AU haha. This was fun to write. Well, thanks for reading!

Shortcomings: Has frequent headaches, loses focus at times, not very confident when it comes to taking a decision, becomes absolutely dependent on his superiors
MOODBOARD:
Tumblr media
PERSONALITY:
Myers-Briggs Type: ISTP (The Virtuoso)
Is aware of his surroundings: Because of his career as a special agent, Bell conceals himself in terms of his personal life in seclusion. Even knowing he's hunted everywhere, he intelligently makes himself invisible from the outside world which makes others difficult for him to locate or recognise.
Works in solitude: Vasili/Bell has always prefered to work alone, but it doesn't mean he doesn't mind going on missions with the team. But, as his habit of being a special agent, that trait normally came from him back in his days when he worked with the KGB.
Observant and intelligent: Vasili was able to survive any sort of situation because of his good observant skills, and his capacity to act quicker. He was able to learn a lot of languages as well, and posed himself in different identities, that made it harder for the intelligence agencies to track him down.
Tumblr media
Is reserved and introverted: Bell really doesn't speak to anyone much, unless when it comes to planning or going for missions, he needs to form a sort of communication to keep it lively. He is seen being more comfortable with Mason and Woods, but never felt having a good vibe with Adler. It was odd on his part, but it was going to grow very obvious when the truth would have come closer to any minute.
BACKGROUND STORY
Bell, who first used to live under the identity of Vasili Sokolov, was born in a family who had an army background, where his mother and father, both served during the Second World War, and hearing their stories, it gave Vasili a motivation to support his parents legacy by joining the intelligence — which was the KGB, going under the codename "Crow".
THE KGB ARC [REDACTED]
When Vasili joined the organisation, he showed a remarkable performance as a special agent. Some say he was born to join the intelligence and make the country proud, or he was a gifted child who could learn anything quickly and successfully perform a mission by stealing info or destroying any plans that could harm his country, without any failure. He even pointed out possible mistakes while planning out a mission, and in the end they worked out efficiently. Alongside, he made himself a friend, whose name was Dimitri Belikov, and grew closer to each other and worked together as a team.
Sooner or later, Vasili's influence spread all around the world, especially during the Cold War, the enemies of the Soviet Union had a kill/capture on him. "Kill" because Vasili knew too much about them, and "Capture" because, they wanted him to tell everything he has with him, which likely created a risk for the KGB and they couldn't do so. With that, General Anton Charkov gave him the order to "retire" and stay hidden to protect himself along with the organisation. Disappointed, Vasili protested that it was the only thing that "kept him going", but having no choice, the agent decided to leave the KGB, under the General's orders.
PERSEUS ARC [REDACTED]
It was a matter of time, when one was going to collect him instead, realising he was now no longer affiliated with the KGB. Vasili was met with someone who called himself "Perseus", and requested him to join his alliance, since he knew about Vasili from his influence, and promised to give him full security, knowing he was hunted worldwide too. Seeing that as an opportunity, Vasili agreed to join in good terms, directly becoming Perseus's loyal agent.
As he continued his journey in the faction, he had shown his skills again which made Perseus as his most trusted agent, unlike the rest. But, at times Vasili has shown inner conflict towards his ideas. During the moment when he was explained about "Operation Greenlight" with the members, it left a strange feeling within his heart. He tried to protest, but he somehow couldn't refute his superior's words, and decided to acknowledge instead. Vasili had kept showing a remarkable performance, much to Arash Kadivar, one of the faction members, being envious of his relationship with Perseus.
Kadivar lures him to Trabzon Airport, where he takes Vasili, and explains that he didn't want any more "competition", resulting in him shooting the special agent in the car he was present in, leaving him to die and bleed alone. But, sooner or later, an attack situated on the airfield, unbeknownst to the dying Vasili who was growing unconscious every passing minute. Growing lost in his own thoughts, about Perseus that promised him to give him protection from the outer forces, but didn't recognise that his "own" people were against him too, as he questioned his existence at the same time.
SAFEHOUSE ARC
The voices echoed, and the man started to lose his breath.. until he woke up, and found himself in a strange place, where he couldn't remember anything of what happened. This is where, he encounters Russell Adler, a CIA agent who he curiously looks upon, having no idea. Unable to introduce himself, Adler briefed him about his name, being it under the codename "Bell". And this is where, all the very events of the canon game begin from here.

Vasili in Black Ops 6 (PRE-LORE)
EDITED: 27/10/2024, As per Black Ops 6 release, with updated lore as per context!
For Black Ops 6, Bell's allegiance to the campaign might hold much significance in framing Adler as the traitor. Under a heavy price.. and here's the story.
After the events of Cold War, Vasili who was said to be "dead" had actually survived the bullet, that almost reached his heart but through successful surgery, he had recovered. As we're talking about a clandestine force which framed Russell Adler as a traitor, Vasili might take that very opportunity to enact revenge on the man who ruined his very life.
On the other hand, Vasili didn't have his hands clean either. While Adler was targeted by the CIA, Vasili was targeted by the KGB — the very organisation he used to work with, turned against him. Because following the events of the previous game, General Anton Charkov was murdered and all of the blame shifted to Vasili, whose claims suggested that he did this because Charkov kicked him out of the KGB. When the truth was.. Dimitri Belikov was the culprit.
Vasili would be spending days inside of his new safehouse, with Dimitri by his side. Dimitri Belikov was actually Vasili's old friend, who worked with him along in the KGB, as well. Little to Vasya's knowledge, Dimitri sure kept him safe from the CIA, but he was also keeping him safe for the KGB, who gave him an order to keep an eye on Vasili Sokolov. Dimitri was on a tight rope, either to stay truthful and loyal to his best friend, or do whatever the KGB says.
Vasili only had one goal. To see Adler fall. To pay for what he's done. But, it's a disappointment that Vasili never got to realise that someone else was also waiting behind to backstab him. And let out a painful truth, that always reminded Vasili that he was never supposed to achieve justice in the first place.
But, when the truth came out, that Dimitri was working as a mole for the CIA, and he pushed the blame to Vasili in the fear that he would be called a traitor too, shattered Vasili to the core. Dima was ashamed. He felt guilty that he could do such a thing, much to the ex-KGB agent's dismay and anger of betraying him, as well.
No one was good at this point. Everyone did worse things behind each other's backs, but it seems like Vasili had his breaking point — that very moment which made him feel completely alone.
Surrounded by the KGB agents, who had an order to capture "Crow" or kill him off if he escapes. But, Dimitri couldn't hold onto it anymore, and also turned his back against the KGB, getting into a fight. Vasili defended himself and was also fending off with the rest, but he saw Dimitri getting shot on every part of his body, and passed out. Vasili got out of his hiding spot to hold onto Dimitri's body, as the wounded man asks for forgiveness.. for what he did to his beloved friend.
Dimitri wanted to pay for his actions too, for being a traitor, and with that, he deserved all of this. Vasili broke down, seeing his friend die but Dima couldn't hold it any longer, and died in his arms.
Vasili stared at his friend's dead body, and saw the agents had surrounded him. A burning rage grew inside Vasili, as if he had enough. At this point, he'd burn the whole world. And with that.. he'll get to Adler. No matter what.
And a few days after Belikov's death, Vasili got an unknown phone call from some unknown organisation, who knew who he was, and wanted to recruit him so he can pursue his revenge further. They too were behind framing Russell Adler as a traitor to the country, something which he made him want to align with them, not because of their ideologies.. but for that one similar interest. Russell Adler.
Leading you all, to have Vasili be a part of the Black Ops 6 campaign.

Sokolov and Belikov Lore
This is about Vasili and Dimitri's bond and friendship throughout the storyline, and in what circumstances these two ended up.
Tumblr media
Vasili Sokolov joined the KGB around the age of 22 years old.
Sometime later, Vasili met Dimitri Belikov and they two formed an immediate closure with each other, during a particular mission where the two were sent together.
They both were disciples of General Anton Charkov. Lev Kravchenko was also one of the people who praised the two for their incredible work and service for the Soviet Union.
If there was any other person whom Vasen'ka could trust, it was Dimitri. And one of them was ready to sacrifice their life to save the other.
But, somewhere around the late 60s, Dimitri shifted his allegiance and political ideologies towards the CIA, during a meeting with Jason Hudson to stop a man named "Perseus" from preventing an upcoming threat which was quite imminent, while being a part of the KGB in secrecy.
The dilemma began where Dimitri believed he was doing all of this for the righteous cause, but because he aligned his interest in the West, which would cause Vasili and the rest of the KGB to turn against him and declare him a traitor. It was even worse when later, Dimitri had an order from the CIA to kill Anton Charkov to retrieve the high security card so they can gain access to the lower tunnels and retrieve the list of the names of the spies to stop Perseus, without leaving any evidence. And it happened a few days later, after Vasili's retirement.
Hudson rather suggested shifting the blame to another agent, to prevent himself from getting threatened or captured by the KGB, since Dimitri was their only useful asset. And it did happen, as Dimitri gave the report to Lev Kravchenko about Vasya's indulgence in Charkov's death.
Meanwhile, Vasili was in retirement, but Perseus, who was already waiting for him to leave the KGB so that he could recruit him in his faction with a higher position, according to his stats. Perseus gave him the offer, and Vasili agreed, thinking this could be the new step to his life while working for the Soviet Union. But, Vasili slowly felt himself trapped while trying to align himself with Perseus's ideologies which were most likely about destroying the entire Europe via "Operation Greenlight".
All these memories, of the team infiltrating the KGB base, and killing Anton Charkov after Vasili's leave, were created a memory in his head during his brainwashed state.
Vasili didn't want to believe that he killed his General because the revelation was that the memories were all made up during his time in MK-Ultra, and was also doing research on who was actually responsible for the latter. Which sadly.. was his own friend, Dima unknowingly.
Dimitri and Vasili, both of them were entangled in the strings of the agencies they were secretly working with.. which would have led to a drastic result during their reunion in Black Ops 6.

Belikov/Bell Among Us AU fanfic concept and pics
Idea: Bell works in the same crew as her older brother Anton Charkov on the spaceship’s expedition. Always stuck behind her brother’s shadow, Bell finds herself often alone on the spaceship. But a chance encounter has Bell befriending Dimitri Belikov, an old friend of her older brother, as they bond over their mutual interest in baseball.
Unfortunately, several suspicious incidents of sabotage cripples the spaceship and mysterious deaths lead to suspicions rising amongst the crew. Everyone knows one thing.
There’s an imposter among them.
If any of y’all are interested in me writing this out or have some thoughts on this, feel free to let me know.
(Note: The colors for Belikov’s spacesuit are inconsistent in the pics since I couldn’t decide on a single color. XD)

Brief thoughts on Belikov’s past in the helicopter assault platoon during the early to mid 1960s
So I’ve been wondering lately about whether or not Belikov actually flew Mi-24 gunships. I know it was said in his wiki that’s the case.
Tumblr media
(Source: https://hero.fandom.com/wiki/Dimitri_Belikov)
However, there one problem with that.
The Mi-24 didn’t exist in the early to mid 1960s.
The development of the very concept for the Mi-24 was worked on during the early to mid 1960s. The first flight of the Mi-24 was made in 1969, two years after Belikov met with the CIA during his time in Vietnam as a Soviet advisor. Introduction of the Mi-24 into the Soviet military only happened starting from the year 1972. Since Hudson said that Belikov worked for the CIA for 13 years, this means that there is no way Belikov would have served late enough to be around for the introduction of the Mi-24. Realistically-speaking, it’s pretty much impossible for Belikov to have flown Mi-24s during his service in the military.
However, what’s interesting is that it seems BOCW possibly diverges from history in this regard.
During one of the dialogue options with Charkov in his office, Belikov talks with Charkov about the days of their platoon. Specifically, Belikov and Charkov look at the photo Charkov has in his office of an Mi-24 landing in some mountainous region.
Tumblr media
Now, here’s where my confusion starts. Either one of two things is true.
1) Charkov just likes helicopters and keeps a random picture of an Mi-24 landing in his private office. And Belikov and Charkov just talk about their platoon while looking at this random picture of an Mi-24 out of nostalgia.
2) BOCW has Mi-24s being around in the Soviet military during the 1960s.
Personally, I’m gonna go with the latter option and headcanon it as that, simply because I love the Mi-24 and it’s just cool to imagine Belikov flying that during his military service as a helicopter pilot. That and I’d wager Treyarch could possibly have made a bit of a historical inaccuracy in this little detail.

Conversation
Belikov and Bell are totally just comrades, y'all...
Charkov: ...And that's how my lovely fiancée and I met. You should come to our wedding this month. Speaking of weddings...when is the next wedding happening?
Bell: Wedding?
Charkov: Between you and Belikov.
Bell: W-what?! Belikov and I are comrades. We’re comrades! Best comrades. Just comrades-

Charkov: I fear no man.
Charkov: But that thing…
Belikov: *standing on top of a pile of KGB bodies*
Charkov: It scares me.

I’m bored so here’s some Lev Kravchenko thoughts/headcanons I had:
•In terms of Kravchenko’s family, we know he has a sister, Irina, but there’s no mention of parents: the earliest record of activity from him asides from birth (20 Mar. 1922) is his apprenticeship under Nikita Dragovich. Given that Kravchenko is rumoured to have murdered his sister when she made romantic moves towards Dragovich, it’s assumed he didn’t have a close relationship with her.
•Speaking of Dragovich, Kravchenko serves him with unquestionable loyalty. Knowing that he wasn’t close to his sister, it’s possible that he also wasn’t close to his parents, leaving him rather starved of attention as a child. This could be because he was a violent child, given his nature when he’s older, or his brutality came as a result of his parents because that’s what got him attention (he might also have just fallen into the wrong crowd). With Dragovich being possibly the first person to ever give him positive praise, Kravchenko latched on to Dragovich, becoming blindly loyal.
•Amusingly, Kravchenko and Alex Mason mirror each other to some extent. Both have tempers that need someone reigning them back. Both need a superior who will excuse their violent and morally grey choices. Though it’s hard to exactly compare Mason to Kravchenko given Mason’s condition, the roles of Dragovich and Jason Hudson in Kravchenko and Mason’s life respectively make BO1 even more entertaining, in my opinion.
•The wiki considers Kravchenko a sadist, which is the only thing he’s ever shown in the games. He even enjoys torturing his own workers, as seen with Dr. Peck in BOCWZ. Given his childhood and the possibility that he was a violent kid, physical abuse may be his only way of showing his emotions.
•That being said, Kravchenko does show a slight softer side, particularly towards Dimitri Belikov. If Belikov gives him false information framing General Anton Charkov, Kravchenko will act rather friendly towards Belikov and speaks with a gentleness that lacks in all his other dialogue. I do not count his joke towards Reznov before Dimitri Petrinko’s death as friendly given that it comes off as more of an attempt to make Reznov feel secure and unsuspecting around Dragovich and Kravchenko so he doesn’t predict what will happen once they find Friedrich Steiner. It’s a classic manipulation tactic.
•Going back to Omega Group, after Dragovich’s death, it’s said that Kravchenko became the lose cannon of the Red Army. He was only reigned in a bit when he joined the KGB a bit before the 80s began, then was sent to Omega Group. It’s possible they put him there because he can get something out of killing zombies and no restrictions or ethics apply. In other words, the KGB didn’t know what to do with unpredictable murderer Kravchenko but they couldn’t get rid of him because he’s a human weapon who’s very effective.
•Kravchenko left the KGB around 1984-85 and got involved in arms dealing to Afghanistan. It’s here he comes in contact with Raúl Menéndez. Because Menéndez holds similar qualities to Dragovich (intelligence, persuasive charisma, manipulation via power), Kravchenko became loyal to him and assisted Menéndez’s arms dealing business in Afghanistan, ultimately leading to his death which Menéndez indirectly orchestrated.
Got any more things you noticed about Kravchenko? Or any thoughts on things said here?
