I'm just gonna say it. I hate Irondad so much. The fact that the mcu erased Peter's true hero and father figure, UNCLE BEN from the movies will always piss me off thr highest levels of pisstivity!!
There's so many people Peter has hero worship for before Tonky Stank. Cap, Daredevil, Johnny Storm, Bruce Banner and Reed Richards!!
Not making Steve or Bruce his father/mentor figure was so dumb. Steve and Peter have similar backstory and the most in common when it comes to being a hero and morals. Especially mcu Peter and Steve
I'm sorry but I'll never love the irondad/ ironboy Jr dynamic and I'm glad Tony is dead and Peter can finally be Peter Parker/Spiderman and not be tied to Tony all the time

Was just reading a very good fic and in the notes they wrote ' changed Peter's age to be 16 because I don't want to think about the implications of Tony recruiting a 15 year old to fight super soldiers' and I'm like, no, let's talk about it, actually.
Because it is horrific, isn't it? 16 isn't much better in my opinion but yknow, at least it's a year older than 15.
I'll be the first to say that I'm really, truly not the biggest Tony Stark fan, whether that be from comics or the MCU but I don't hate him and he does have his good moments for me. His dynamic with Peter is not one of them, I fear.

one thing that gets me annoyed with ir*ndad content is the fact that peter’s entire arc through his three solo films is literally ABOUT coming out from under tony stark’s shadow and realizing that aspiring to be like tony is actually taking him nowhere good and leading him to betray the values may has instilled in him

"Tony Stark broke the cycle with Peter and Morgan."
He literally behaved like Howard towards Peter and dumped him on Happy. And Happy was also horrible. Don't even compare him to Jarvis.
Morgan never got to be old enough to question him, defy him, or make a 'mistake' in his eyes. I don't think Marvel even considers her a character.

"'Rescuing' Wanda from a place she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place" was such a batshit insane line they had Tony say with Peter Parker sitting right there, like I don't know how more people don't see how detached from logic Tony became believing he was right.
He had the audacity to lecture Steve about bringing Wanda, a 27 year old woman under house arrest because someone else's bomb went off who participated in her own rescue because she did in fact want to leave, being there when he'd just committed a war crime by kidnapping Peter, a 14 year old boy who said no, from his safe home in Queens to be a child soldier, and grooming him (which btw does not exclusively mean sexual, it also means "the action of attempting to form a relationship with a child or young person [...] or inducing them to commit an illegal act"...like illegal entry into a foreign country or vigilantism that had literally just been outlawed via the Accords).
To be absolutely clear, I think we're supposed to acknowledge this glaring flaw in Tony's logic here, the point is supposed to be that for as well intentioned as Tony is, the statement "you're wrong, you think you're right, that makes you dangerous" applies to him. And it's honestly sad how many people in the last decade missed that entirely

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man #1. Prequel comic to the upcoming Disney Plus cartoon. This Peter is a bigger fanboy of Cap than Iron Man. No Irondad for this verse and Norman Osborn taking the Tony role and showing how Spidey doesn’t need a sneaky dishonest rich man to be his mentor.

YouTube keeps recommending me these videos about Tony Stark being a “father” to Peter and all the scenes of them are just Tony being awful to Peter. Like, him being dismissive of Peter and yelling at him. I’m really am convinced that these people don’t actually watch these clips and just go by their hand canons.

irondad is probably the worst thing to ever happen to spider-man as a character and it's not even because of tony. the irondad part is fine i guess. tony might be a good father figure in the right au. but spiderson? like that's not even peter at this point fandom washed him out so much that's a whole new character he's got none of the qualities that peter parker usually does like at this point that's your oc that's not peter. baby that's not spiderson that's your spidersona

I really hope this is just a Doppelganger situation and he's not playing a Tony Stark as Dr Doom. I also hope that the likeness isn't brought up.
Please keep Peter's character development away from DADDOOM!!!

My greatest regret in life is watching the Avengers movies late in life. Now I'm about 8 years too late to defend Team Cap in civil war and I have to filter through all the anti-team cap propaganda and irondad fanfic whenever I want to read marvel fanfic.

the thing about homecoming is that peter spends the whole movie begging for dad’s (tony’s) approval. he sends texts and calls happy and lies to ned about having dad’s approval (being an avenger), and the climax of the movie, the culmination of peter’s whole journey is finally getting tony’s approval and recognition and saying you know what? i’m good, actually.

Different ways Tony Stark could've met Peter Parker without blackmailling and kidnapping him because he was salty with his work buddy.
A science convention
Giving a lecture at Peter's school
Having a hot dog and chit chatting on rooftop
Saying a casual hello while flying like they're neighbours passing each other in a hallway
Even Big Iron dad fans agree that was a nasty way to introduce Peter Parker to the MCU!
Please state more if you'd like!

I'm never going to stop thinking about how May's murderer, who killed her in front of Peter only a few hours ago, was goading Peter into killing him, actively encouraging his violence, the Green Goblin wanted to revel in corrupting Spider-Man, and all it took was a Look for Peter to come back to himself and decide to save Norman instead, no words, no begging, no pleading, no repeated attempts to reason with him or escape from him, just one blocked swing and a Look.
And there's still people who think he'd want to "give team cap a piece of his mind", or would've still been on Tony's team had he not been kidnapped, blackmailed and lied to about why he was there.
Peter could not be more Steve coded if he tried and we had five movies trying to shove "Peter is Tony's mini-me" down our throats just because Peter's a genius. One trait shared with Tony does not make him like him, he's Iron Man's antithesis by the end of NWH. I'll be so mad if Spider-Man 4 is another of the same, or even worse acts like May's loss isn't as big of a deal to Peter as that man.

Did I unfollow a mutual who was spam posting Irondad-Spiderson content out of nowhere? Fucking absolutely. As a reminder; fuck billionaire, war-profiteer, accountability dodger, child endangerer, self-aggrandising, self-centred asshole Tony Stark. The only care he feels for Peter is out of -AT MOST- a guilty kind of moral obligation.
Tony has an actual child, and Peter already has a parental figure;
Aunt May loves Peter in the way you all project onto Tony Stark in Irondad scenarios, and unlike Irondad, that's canon. Argue with a mirror, I'm right.
Stan Aunt May, cowards.
