I am absolutely shipping Selin and Anthony.
(In every season there's at least that happy ending --- or that couple that have been selected because of high compatibility. I feel like the hint is that Selin and Anthony are going to be that couple.).
Even if Anthony labels himself as a traditional guy (the 'opening doors' for women kind), it was refreshing to see that he did not objectify Selin at all. Yes, there was a comment on her aesthetics, but none of those actions that are usually linked to men who still have a long way to go in their personal development journey. Selin also was more focused about their connection than what Anthony's body could offer.
When I saw that a new season has been released (actually 'being released' is a much better phrase as new episodes are still being aired), I felt a bit of reluctance after the result of diving in WLW spaces due to viewing 'Saving Face' last year and as a result while I research my write-up on the film I dove into WLW spaces and had conversations with those who identified as a WLW.
Only you, dear reader, could judge how much of a difference it makes to my viewpoint after having significant (diving into content and managing to find more of my people who also turned out to be at least 5 individuals who bring their own unique WLW experience and point of views) exposure to something I didn't expect wading into prior to viewing Alice Wu's directorial debut.
Oh...and not to mention after taking the time to put together my 'spouse search' essay! As it was a realisation that I need to put in some time to really let go that my worth (and social standing). There's also that episode of 'Reputation Rehab' where viewers were shown how much manipulation (I'm hoping it isn't that much for 'Married At First Sight') that happens to keep the audience (or maybe I should say: A specific kind of audience) hooked.
As the opening minutes (which are usually filled with teasers) ticked by, I was hit with the realisation that the first voiceover (interview?) was about respecting women. I thought even with #MeToo continually ticking by, its still timely and makes me want to rewatch past seasons to check what the opening monologue would be.
It was a bit of a struggle (and a slight frustration) that there are no 'practically dressed women' represented (are there ever?), and I'm annoyed at the culture (in general...across the world), that heels are the acceptable choice when attending Hen Nights
PS: I absolutely love that the guy who is put on the pedestal by the rest of the bachelors as the 'looker' is a confessed introvert.
PPS: Was it just me or did Tamara absolutely melt when she saw Brent for the first time!? Because that was such a 180! I did not expect her to approve!
------------------
Personal Development Reminder #1: Surface rigidity has a link to a personal fear.
Even if it was amusing to watch Tamara and Brent bicker, I thought it was interesting when Tamara revealed why it was important for Brent to apologise: when Brent does something that deeply hurts Tamara, she feels like he wouldn't be able to own up to his actions.
Personal Development Reminder #2: Let people show you who they are.
It's very easy to judge others based on what they wear or their income streams, but even if it takes a significant energy to do so. But if you don't have the energy, walk away with kindness.
------------------
Highlights:
- The guys chatting about how much delight they get from getting a chance to being the small spoon.
- Brent's aversion to 'bad feet'.
- Tamara's walls disappearing for a moment as she locks eyes with Brent up until he reads his vows.

MAFS Dom blasts embarrassing Tamara as cast feud reignites
It’s been over six months since this year’s season of Married At First Sight came to an end, and yet the drama between the contestants is just as chaotic as ever. A majority of cast members reunited for the first time this weekend while attending the Team Ellis boxing match in Melbourne to support their co-stars Brent Vitiello, Daniel Holmes and Jackson Lonie, resulting in plenty of awkward moments and nasty confrontations. MAFS’ Tamara Djordjevic and Kate Laidlaw had an awkward reunion at the boxing match on Saturday. Photos: Matrix/Supplied After Yahoo Lifestyle revealed that Tamara Djordjevic told fellow bride Kate Laidlaw to “f**k off to her own table” at the event, causing a divide between all of the girls in attendance, the 30-year-old operations manager has now explained the reason behind their feud. “I dislike Kate because she openly spoke to media about us girls when we had invited her out with us, saying we were embarrassing and that she regret being with us,” Tamara commented on The Wash’s Instagram on Sunday evening. “So why would she want to come over to our table if she dislikes us… I can’t stand fake s**t and if you want to be that way don’t expect not to get a reaction.” RELATED: Meanwhile, Kate took to her Instagram Story around the same time to address the feud and explain her side of the story. “I had no interest in talking to Tamara or being at their table!” she wrote. “I was just saying hello to Anthony [Cincotta] and his gf. As an adult I was choosing to be civil and pleasant at a public event, clearly she couldn’t do the same. “I’ve never been treated so badly. Watching some of the other cast members laugh at her behaviour was truly hurtful. Adult women being mean girls and bullying is not cool, it’s embarrassing.” Domenica Calarco didn’t attend the boxing match but has weighed in on the drama. Photo: Channel Nine Dom weighs in Domenica Calarco, who is friends with Kate and was one of the few cast members who didn’t attend the event on Saturday night, then replied to Tamara’s Instagram comment to call her out. Story continues “Probs because you ‘prank’ called Ella [Ding] and I at the dinner table… Maybe that’s why she said you were embarrassing,” she wrote. “And she’s right, you are embarrassing.” The incident Dom is referring to happened back in April when Tamara was accused of “harassing” her co-stars with rude phone calls during a wild night out with Carolina Santos, Jessica Seracino, Kate and her twin sister Bec. Dom claimed that Tamara, who had called her on a private number, screamed at her “calling her a c**t”. “She then said to me, ‘Have you got your f**king teeth fixed yet?’. I just laughed and then she hung up. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to give them anything but I am furious,” she told So Dramatic!. Ella Ding also told the publication that she had received a call from Tamara, who passed the phone to Carolina. “I asked her why she was calling me,” she explained. “Carolina was going on about Mitch [Eynaud] and Tamara, saying ‘Aren’t you jealous Tamara has touched his d*ck?’ and basically just trying to me feel bad that Tamara is with Mitch and rubbing it in my face. I told her that I don’t care and that Tamara can have him.” Tamara has since deleted her comment on The Wash’s Instagram post, which consequently deleted the whole thread including Dom’s response. It’s stupid, it’s over the top, it’s gross, and it’s terrific! Just what I needed to end the week! There some laugh out loud moments in between this eye rolling, groan inducing movie, all thanks to a fantastic cast and some really clever writing.

Global Gaming (as real as global warming)...
It’s taken a long time for me to come to terms with it, but I, Millie Cincotta, have become a widow to Fortnite. I have been left high and dry, night after night, as my 22 year old boyfriend engages in online interaction with randoms as well as his friends. It is the sad truth.
But let’s be real, this isn’t just happening to me. Online gaming is a 21st century phenomenon that has become a huge part of a significant percentage of the population. Gaming communities have taken over and are increasing in size by the minute.
Now I’m not sure whether said boyfriend plays for any particular ‘reason', but I can tell you that when he wins his night is made (I know, I don’t get it either) which makes me think he falls into the category of competition in Caillois’s player types. Playing competitive games gives him a feeling of satisfaction and disappointment, as he either triumphs or is defeated; this feeling leaving him wanting more, with the desire to chase that winning feeling.
To me, gaming with randoms sounds about as interesting as watching grass grow. I sit there rolling my eyes as Anthony tells me about the stories and conquests he has recently discovered and achieved. Not to mention, my three brothers who have also infiltrated my life from a young age with their incessant need to befriend strangers whilst playing Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto (COD and GTA to gaming pros).
The boys like to tell me that their enjoyment of online gaming is about as explainable to me as online shopping is to them. But thats what I struggle to comprehend about gaming… With online shopping I reap the reward, I get to wear the nice new knit I bought for months and years, whether the boys get to enjoy their online win for minutes at most.
In saying that, online gaming brings the boys together, not only online, but it gives them topics to discuss for hours upon end. Maybe that’s the aspect that they enjoy most? The sense of community and identity that they get to form when playing online, behind a persona that they could never replicate in real life form; with people from all over the world. Is it crazy to say that maybe gaming even gives the boys insights into the wider world that I may never get from purchasing online? Wow. Lots to think about.
Take a geez at this article and it might open your mind to gaming a little more, it definitely did for me (now that's not saying I’m completely converted) : https://www.theguardian.com/technology/gamesblog/2013/jul/31/gamer-communities-positive-side-twitter

KVB321 Studio Project 1 | Presentation
Previously in my art practice I have explored the idea of domesticity and the idea of the home. I have focused on the idea’s that are derived from my life whether they be memorable, or fleeting. This semester however I have found a change in my art practice in that I have started using collage as a medium, and honing in the broader idea of domesticity to my personal life, more specifically, using the loss of my mother at a young age as a source of context for my art practice. Collage is something I have been exploring this semester, as well as the laborious process it provided as a way of mimicking the labours of life, the harsh, human qualities of life and a way of mirroring the labours my mother endured throughout her years of childbirth and up to her death. Thus I am exploring the ideas of loss and how this loss can be articulated, despite my own sense of loss and memories being fleeting and childlike
The first work that began to take shape this semester, was my original collage which I have titled Seven 2017. This work featured the overlapping cut outs of two different images of my mother, photo copied 60 times each. In collaging these images of my mother, I have in turn created a calendar like circumstance. By photocopying, cutting, applying, gluing, arranging and patterning I am able to show the labours of this piece, as a representation of the labours my mother faced throughout her life. Collage is also a deliberate use of form and material, in comparison to simply drawing a portrait to commemorate my late mother. Collage shows the artist hand, each piece is placed in a certain way for a reason, and by showing the labours of this piece I in turn can connect myself and my mother in the same place, in that I created it and she create me, as well as the hand she had in raising me is mirrored in the way the artist hand can be seen in this piece
My second work of this semester was an extension on Seven 2017. Using the photo copied images of 6 different photos of my mother, I then traced around these and cut out the pieces, being left with a sort of formless, and ambiguous blob. I then enlarged these shapes 2x the original size and using adhesive spray I was able to secure these shapes onto 2 meters of translucent fabric in a clump like manner. The work plays more formally with the idea of memories and childhood than in my previous work and I believe it to be more successful in translating my memories of my mother, who I did not know very well. While I know her to be a solid figure of my childhood, hence the solid white of her shapes, she is also a transparent figure, one who I did not know at all in my teenage years, nor remember well, almost as if I am looking at her through a cloudy veil.
My third work plays with collage in a different way than the previous two. Using an old broach of my mother’s in the shape of a swallow, I photo copied it, first colour and then black and white. I then cut these out and arranged them onto the photo copier’s screen, changing where they were and printing it onto the same paper. A pattern of sorts can be seen of the blue and black birds that appeared to fly around the page. While it was all on one piece of paper, there were many layers to this design. I wanted to experiment with translucent paper, at the time the best I could find at the time was Vellum paper. The material changed the way the work was read and I found I could layer different compositions underneath, creating a layer of depth that mimic the translucent feel of the previous work I had done. A light box was created to enhance the piece and a way of combining all the separate layers into one.
The three key Artist that have been informing and helping me to create decisive works and decisions this semester are Sally Smart, Elizabeth Gower, and Linde Ivimey.
Sally smarts artworks consists of a variety of different materials and processes of making that collate together in the semblance of the human figure and life like structure. Using collage as her medium in many of her works, I find that I can relate the works that I have been doing this semester to sally smarts practice and indeed several particular pieces which express rhythm and movement, while still holding qualities of displacement of body parts and arrangement. Her piece Argument (In Her Nature), 2011. Acrylic and collage on canvas, 187 x 92 cm was one of the first works that I was introduced to. I find the formal qualities of collage in this piece to address the potential the collage presents as a way of distorting the human figure and also as a way of expressing movement and time within a work. My work Seven 2017, while in comparison to Smarts, small, I find that I have expressed a similar way of using the black and white photograph, with small portions of block colour. I see the potential of upscaling my collage to increase its drama within a space, and command a greater presence just as Smarts work have done.
Elizabeth Gower’s is an artist that I have been researching and also channelling through my practice in the last several weeks as I look at collage as a way of pattern and ordnance, rather than a spread of different materials and layering. Her works play with packaging, collage and pattern making in a way that I can relate to through my own experimentation of collage. Artefacts from the 20th Century (chairs) 2000 Paper on drafting film 113 x 113 cm is one work that visually I find is in line with my own direction this semester. My vellum piece uses a found image, and patterns it, creating a pulsing and rhythmic piece just as Gowers creates movement with the use of collage and mirroring. My own work uses a similar framing style to create movement, just perhaps not in as much ordinance as Gower’s. Like Smart, Gower draws on the ideals of collage as a way of expressing her interest of pattern and reconstruction of an image. Gower is particularly drawn to feminism, the body and collage and I find as more time passes in exploring my art practice this semester that I am interested in exploring the similar ideas through fragmentation and memories and how those two things link to my idea of motherhood. By taking my mother as the figure hood of female influence in my life, I see a potential to continue to explore ideas such as femineity, domesticity, the idea of the home, and the ambiguous notion of what a mother means to me, Just as Smart and Gower are able to deconstruct and assemble reality through collage.
Linde Ivimey is another artist who I have been looking at through a peer suggestion. While she is not a collage artist, she does however play with the ideas of childhood and memories through these plush, almost off putting sculpture works which represent the broader sense of childhood and play and how memories are affected over time. With an eclectic mix of materials including sheep bones, human hair and porcelain teeth, steel and fabric, her works are confronting and beautiful. I find what connects our works together is the sense of drawing from childhood memories and realizing them in a physical form. While my work stems from my memories of my mother, Ivimey work manages to capture a childhood, through an adult’s perspective, looking back in a way I have yet to achieve. I will continue to use her works as a form of inspiration in which I can draw key elements from.

MAFS Jackson spills on current relationship with Olivia: Thats life
They were one of the strongest couples to come out of Married At First Sight when their season ended earlier this year, but Jackson Lonie and Olivia Frazer shocked fans in August when they called it quits after ten months together. Now, Jackson has opened up about the breakup while chatting with Yahoo Lifestyle and revealed where they currently stand with each other. MAFS’ Jackson Lonie has opened up about his current relationship with Olivia Frazer. Photo: Channel Nine “I want the best for Liv and hopefully she finds a nice guy because she deserves that,” he shares. “But yeah, unfortunately, we just kind of grew apart a little bit, which happens in life. “We’re still very close and we’re still good mates and we still talk probably once a week, so there are definitely no hard feelings there at all.” RELATED: The 31-year-old went on to say that while people expect there to be “an elaborate story” behind their split, there simply isn’t one. “It’s been as smooth as a breakup can be, I guess,” he continues. “We were just both on different paths and yeah, that’s how it goes, unfortunately. That’s life.” ‘We’re still very close and we’re still good mates and we still talk probably once a week.’ Photo: Instagram/olivefrazer Jackson and Olivia’s Melbourne reunion This weekend the pair will have their first public reunion since breaking up when Olivia flies to Melbourne to support Jackson at his celebrity boxing match. The event, which will be available for fans to stream online on October 15, will see Jackson go up against fellow MAFS star Sam Carraro in the ring. Jackson will also be donating his portion of the event’s ticket sales to Coast Shelter, a community housing operator providing accommodation for people who are homeless or experiencing domestic and family violence on the Central Coast. “Liv is 100% supporting me,” he says. “She’s coming down with the whole crew and they’re all there to support me, so I’m very excited to have them there and cheer me on. Story continues “We’ve got Matt [Ridley] coming down, Cody [Bromley]’s coming down, Mitch [Eynaud] is still in Fiji but he’s going to be there in spirit, Tamara [Djordjevic], Carolina [Santos], Anthony [Cincotta]… Al [Perkins] is coming down as well. “I’m just very excited about it, and I can’t thank Coast Shelter enough for even giving me the opportunity to give them a hand. To see the good work that they’ve been doing, it’s amazing and I’m just very grateful that I’m able to give back to them.” Fans can live stream Jackson’s boxing match online on October 15 here.
