I love Eclipse from our dimension, as a villain or an anti-hero. But even I recognize that it was his choice to become everyone's enemy, it wasn't just Old Moon's fault, and Solar is the proof of that, he had the same beginning as Eclipse, but he decided to act differently.

Eclipse could have communicated with Sun just like Solar did, but no, as soon as he woke up he let hatred and resentment guide his actions without taking a few seconds to consider a better course of action for his freedom, he didn't even seem to consider Moon and Sun's offers when they told him they could give him his own body.

He is the main one responsible for what he was, a villain, and he also has half the blame for July 16th, because if he didn't create and free Bloodmoon, those children could be alive today. He practically freed a hungry tiger that woke up for the first time in a room full of children!!

Bloodmoon was a beast with no impulse control, Eclipse has no such excuse, he simply didn't care what happened to others as long as he could ascend.

And I personally like that, not all villains need a super ultra tragic past to be bad, they are simply selfish by nature.

Oh yeah, agreed! I think our universe’s Eclipse is more selfish and impulsive, and most of his actions have been motivated by those traits and his need for vengeance. Solar’s existence in a separate body from his Sun, and the fact that he was living in the daycare, DESPITE his Moon continuing to distrust and mistreat him, shows that the way our Moon treated the original Eclipse is far from the only factor in Eclipse’s villainy. Solar’s Moon wasn’t kind to him, but he still chose to be the way he is.

At the end of the day, Eclipse dug his own hole. (Although I will say he didn’t put himself in the dirt/create himself. That was Old Moon.) He didn’t have very many options, and his situation wasn’t great, but he still did terrible things.

Just as a side note, I do think it’s interesting how Solar’s dimension hints at the fact that there wasn’t really a ‘right choice’ for Eclipse. Our Eclipse chose to be the villain and was hated for it. Solar chose to be kind, and ended up hated by his Moon and labeled a murderer anyway. Also interesting how Eclipse hated Sun and Moon and made multiple attempts to kill them but never truly succeeded. On the other hand, Solar’s separation from his Sun ended up unintentionally killing him, and then he was later forced to kill his Moon and Monty in self-defense. He did what Eclipse wanted to do, but he never wanted that in the first place.

Idk where I was going with this but yeah. Different situations but also different choices. Despite a less than ideal situation, Eclipse’s character and decisions are still the main factors in his villainy.

Hello! I would like to dub your comic, Flowerfell, I read it and it truly touched me, conveying all those emotions in my dub will be difficult but I want to try! I know about the delicate subject that Flowerfell is after the incident and although the original Flowerfell was envisioned by the author as platonic, a story of unconditional kindness, I don't think yours strays that far nor that it does any kind of disservice to the orginal. I think adding the blooming of love to the story elevated it, it's just too bad that said element was taken and used in a way that alienated the author... But those are just my 2 cents and a way for me to say that despite it all what you made was nothing short of magnificent and I want you to give me the chance to try and elevate it.

...It had been 14 years since that incident.

And even though she had yet to return to that place, she could still feel how the cold seeped into her bones and made them brittle. And how the frigid air stole her breaths until they remained shallow. The screams of House Sunshield's ward, the shouts of the blood knights, and the deep bellowing growls of Nerubians that had ambushed them. It was a trauma made manifest into living nightmares and inescapable thoughts.

"I nearly died that day."

The fact was stated in her mind, but the memories did not cease. It was a progressive ordeal as the batter, weary souls of her comrades made their way home. Quel'thalas, which had been a welcomed sight for sanctuary and hope, yet it was everything but that in a moment.

"You no longer have a place with our House."

The Lord's words forged an anchor within her heart. It lurched downward with the weight of unexpected shock and despair after being discharged. She had thought getting everyone home alive was reason to celebrate. A reason to be praised. A reason to be regarded as exceptional.

But the Ward was injured. And so too were many of the Blood Knights. Of those to be scrutinized and placed under blame, what better choice than a former Silvermoon Guard that was given an opportunity to make a name for herself.

There should have been elation in the fact she was even alive.

But the disappointment in failure made death feel like a welcome prospect. And what better way to kill one's spirit than to drink the pain away and indulge in illegal contraband. The numbness that came from extreme cold now voluntarily claimed her mind and body once more.

She didn't feel her own pain.

She didn't acknowledge her fear.

She couldn't see their disappointment.

She didn't hear their criticism.

She was liberated through her grief.

A sad soul that saw no good by her hand. Cursed by this haunting moment as it lives beneath the skin. And if she thought for a moment, it would escape her notice, it would once again be placed in the forefront of her thoughts with every act and word she carried.

In fact, in an episode after Solar's death, Ruin says that Solar is different from the vast majority of Eclipses because he made a different decision. It has nothing to do with whether he was found before or after. As soon as Solar was able to free himself from confinement, he voluntarily communicated with his Sun, making his existence known, unlike Eclipse who hid for almost a year or more to plan his revenge against Moon.

Yes ur right I remember that! I’ve seen theories that being a technical copy of Solar is what gave this newest version of Eclipse a bit more control and patience. I think it’s probably a combination of all the factors. Moon taking his killcode meant that he wasn’t immediately demonizing Solar, Solar took the initiative to communicate and reach out to his Sun, and his Sun was receptive to it. And those little differences led to completely different outcomes for Eclipse and Solar. That’s so much fun to think about and play around with!
