you most likely talked about this, but given that in Beacon, teams are also separated into duos of partners (ruby&weiss, blake&yang), who do you think got partnered up in STRQ? (assuming that this buddy system was already in place during STRQ days)

i know i'm going against the tide with this one, but: summer & taiyang, raven & qrow. for few reasons.

one: the boy meets the warrior in a forest, and says he fell for her the moment he saw her silver eyes <- this is a story tai relates to, and eye contact is beacon's manner of forming partnerships.

two: as fun as all the "qrow's semblance gets in the way of him partnering with raven" scenarios are, i really don't think there's anything that would get in the way if raven wanted to partner with qrow (which i think she would) + qrow, who thinks his semblance makes it difficult to be near his family, would likely see partnering with raven more as a bad luck than he would partnering with some stranger.

and three, and this is what it really comes down, for me: i really do think the emotional core within strq is summer reuniting with tai, and raven reuniting with qrow. like the twins smiling at each other in the epilogue? that's the emotional goodness right there after everything they've been through; the disagreements, the fights, "we're not family anymore"s, learning the truth, finally reaching some sort of an understanding, to standing side-by-side once again.

and while there's less for summer and tai, they still included that scene in the flashback. they could have had summer sneak out with tai none the wiser, but they didn't; instead, summer promised she'd be back soon, and tai answers with a resolute "i know" (and he's still waiting, hoping against hope for her to return) ("no, come back!" <- when ruby's message gets cut short at the worst possible moment, tai's reliving the past right there).

idk really how to explain it, but there's this general feeling too that's like... if i had to split strq in two halves, summer & tai / raven & qrow makes the most sense to me. like, that's where the story is, not to say there isn't any story between anyone else, but especially qrow is like. who else do you partner him with? he doesn't really have anything to do with summer or tai emotionally story-wise, so if partnership is meant to be this Special Bond between two people, with what the show has presented us with, that really just leaves raven.

then there's also the fact that summer & tai went on oh-gods-another-patrol missions ("i think he misses adventuring with you." t. ruby rose) while raven & qrow went on spy missions (probably not on same ones, but i bet they still communicated what they were up to bc that's what intelligence gathering kind of requires). would ozpin separate partners like that? who knows. maybe? would be kind of rude though lmao

...it also makes the naming convention of RW | BY and ST | RQ the same, which doesn't necessarily prove anything, rather it's just a neat little bonus on top :)

but what do you think of Lewis/Louis=Jabberwalker?

Jaune believes Alyx traded him for her exit, the Jabberwalker is different from the Afterants in so far that it can destroy them and its face reminds me a ton of Raven's Grimm mask (with the implication that both the mask and the Jabberwalker are modeled after some type of Grimm. or the mask is modeled after the JW, but i doubt that)

so did answer another ask yesterday about this topic—though that was about alyx = the jabberwalker—and i found the possibility of.. anyone, really, being turned into the jabberwalker on the account that 1. the jabberwalker appears in alyx's story early on, and 2. the cat seems to be certain that remnant folk don't ascend like afterans do.

however, having slept through the night and spared some more braincells to thinking about things other than summer rose, i'm willing to reconsider the possibility that one of them—either lewis or alyx—became the jabberwalker once they got to the tree; if the tree doesn't cause remnant folk to ascend the same way as afterans, to whom ascension is a natural process, then what's to say it wouldn't either 1. have a corrupting effect on those not from the ever after (when we first saw the jabberwalker, they were seeking for something, and they also want to fix something; is it themselves that they want to fix?) or 2. ascension, while natural, is a bad thing to happen to someone who isn't sure who they are and what they want to become -> the cat prevents herb's trial for ruby from completing bc it wouldn't have turned out great for ruby, perhaps?

what i find curious too is that blake keeps referring to the jabberwalker as a jabberwalker, while the cat uses the jabberwalker. idk if it really means anything, but if the book only talks about one—and according to jaune, there's supposed to be only one—then why leave the door open for more with 'a jabberwalker'? that aren't. ya know. just clones made by neo.

either way, the story is just a story, and clearly has an unreliable narrator; since alyx and lewis supposedly would have faced the jabberwalker before they met any of their other companions, it's possible that it. never happened, or that it did happen, just not when the story says it did; perhaps whoever wrote it took the fight against the jabberwalker that actually happened at the end of the story and moved it to the beginning to obstruct the truth. to have a nicer, more happier ending to the story.

The day had been long, deplorably so, between the voracity at which she trained and the cosmic levels of solitude she felt during the lit hours, Cinder was ready to collapse in on herself. Even the books she made active use of devouring line by line and page by page were escaping their intrigue today as she laid back in one of the mighty seats of their apartment.

Dog-earring a red cover bound book and tossing it aside, its form clumping into the folds and leather of the couch beside her, Cinder turned away towards the main room’s window. Although it was midday, it was difficult to tell, a mighty snowstorm which blackened the skies in sheets of white and ice barrelling down against the buildings. Harsh sounds of whipping cold sounded like a whip cracking against the thickened windows and structure, that alone would have Cinder curling up upon herself as she was now. Knees to chest and arms, prosthetic and not, clutching tightly at them for just an ounce of security though even that proved faulty.

However when another racket joined the grave whips of snow, Cinder spun around to their door, as the noise of lock and key turning brought heat to her chest.

Groaning was the next thing she heard, alongside the lumber of thick soled boots, “Urgh!” Rang out in terrible annoyance. “The roads are a nightmare, forget it, I will be working from here today.” Winter did her best voice work when she tried sounding venomous, but in this moment she sounded all too tired to be more than annoyed and exhausted.

“Is the coffee still warm?” Winter called out as she turned her back for their hook, not noticing the somewhat rampant noises of house shoes on hardwood behind her. “I do not care what the programs say that chill is as bad as the snow-!”

Her voice caught in her throat just as she managed to hang her coat, caused by the hands and arms of growing warmth which currently ensnared her middle. Blossoming hot air near blistered her frigid nape as Cinder’s lips precisely found the corner of her jawline; it forced a gasp through Winter all the same.

Stinging hot as her lips left, Cinder could only smirk at the corner of Winter’s surprised eye. “Was that truly necessary? I feel like my heart is going to bound from my chest, Cinder.” Turning within the rather tight hold enough to put them front to front, Winter’s red hued glare did little to dissuade the touch of excitement within that golden eye.

“It was desperately needed, Fräulein.” her voice curling into a lull as she inched herself closer to Winter.

Blustering slightly at the title, Winter rolled her eyes with force. “At least lock the door before you make me miss my morning events?” A stray low kick sent the door quickly to close as a soundtrack of throat drawling laughs inched onto frozen skin once more.

18: do you believe in ghosts and/or aliens?

Ghosts: no Aliens: a bit I tend to be more skeptical with things, and ghosts don't have given me enough reasons to believe in them (yet), and aliens is a things that seems more something like people who really know they exist would slowly present this to community to not create a shock, also it's likely to happen even if they're almost at the another corner of the universe. But tbh, if there's aliens, maybe we are them while studying close forms of life, or maybe there's really aliens there, maybe both, maybe neither! and for ghosts I say yet because I also tend to believe that there's always a chance for a certain to be wrong. It's one of the things I like to think, "there's nothing more misleading than an obvious fact"
