Speaking of Indian soap operas, there is one which is really fitting when it comes to the recent Jimmy/VK/Ali thing we were discussing. 🤭🤭

There's a Hindi soap called Barrister Babu, set in pre-Independance era Bengal. So it was kinda a social-romantic drama, revolving around the theme of child marriage. What happens is that there's this guy, Anirudh, who returns to his village after studying law in England. There he finds out that a little girl called Bondita is about to be married off to an old man. He tries to stop the marriage, but is unsuccessful. On the wedding day, the old man dies of a heart attack, and the villagers declare the little girl, Bondita, to be a widow and demand she be immolated on her dead husband's pyre, as is the custom. To save Bondita from death, Anirudh marries her and takes her back to his home. The thing is this Anirudh guy was engaged to his childhood sweetheart, Saudamini, who is absolutely not happy with the situation and tries to seperate the newlyweds. Anirudh is determined to help Bondita progress in life, teaching her to read and write, eventually sending her to London to become a lawyer herself. Then the show introduced a timeskip where little girl Bondita returns to Anirudh, all grown up now, and they fall in love, have kids. 🙄

But honestly, imagine this happening in omegaverse 😂😂😂 VK is bonded to another alpha, and the alpha dies, and people want poor widowed VK to immolate himself too, because an omega has no business remaining alive after his alpha has died. 🤭🤣 Jimmy finds out and to save VK, he's like, "fine! I'll bond him, he'll have an alpha then and y'all can't touch a hair on his head!" Ali as the childhood sweetheart Saudamini, who schemes to drive VK and Jim apart. 🤣 Also Jimmy teaching VK how to read and write. 🤣 VK can be aged up for this AU lol, no need to have him be 8 years old, he can be 18/19 instead. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Madonne Ashwin, the director, has produced only a few films currently. I think his first feature-length commercial film was Mandela starring Yogi Babu. I checked out that movie after seeing Maaveeran because I loved the story so mucch. Apparently, he’s good friends with Lokesh Kanagaraj and the editor for Maaveeran was also Philomin Raj (Master, Leo, Jai Bhim, Vikram - he’s a frequent Lokesh collaborator) and one song in Maaveeran was sung by Anirudh. I just absolutely like that we’re getting new blood that’s stirring things up and adding their own touch.

I remember in an interview with Baradwaj Rangan, he said that Lokesh wanted to turn star-vehicle movies into director-vehicle movies. You might be saying “duh it should be” but everyone’s got a brand - actor, director, music director, etc. and I like that the filmmakers are really putting their own brand and mark on things. I hope Madonne Ashwin does a lot more more films because I’ve loved his movies so far.

A FUCKING MASTERPIECE. Best SK anna has ever done imo.

Pisses me off when people say it annoyed them that it took the lead Sathya a really long time to become the "hero" that he draws in his comics. I feel like that was the whole point. I just can't imagine how the movie would've turned out if it did decide to stop being a coward earlier. What if they wanted us to feel frustrated and annoyed at him? I mean like that's probably what people around him felt too. I think that was perfect. I love how everytime you think you know where something is heading they completely surprise you.

The concept is just so original. I mean come on did ANYBODY expect THAT to happen from the trailers? The whole ink from his comics going into his ears and him hearing narrations like what he wrote in his comic- JUST BRILLIANT. AGAIN SO ORIGINAL. ALSO THE FACT THAT THEY GOT VIJAY SETHUPATHI TO VOICE THE NARRATOR. HE WAS PERFECT.

The fight scenes with the narration were just 🤌🤌

One thing though, the ending was kind of okay. I feel like it would've made more of an impact if he died saving his people like the voie said he would but ig they managed to save it by making him deaf instead. I mean him now only being able to hear the voice is still pretty poetic ig.

This is something I've never seen in tamil cinema, even this genre is rare and ughhhhhhh its not getting the love and attention it deserves
