I've done fake anime screenshot fanart with the Cookie Run characters showcased. So I decided to make a quick test animatic, using the audio from one of the recent updates in Cookie Run Kingdom! 🎀
Taking place in the Christmas 2023 Kingdom Update known as "The Holiday Express Update". Which ran from December 13, 2023 up until January 4, 2024. 🔎
Short Summary: Basically Sparkling Cookie mentioning the most vital pieces of evidence during his interrogation, confirming that Royal Bear Jelly is the culprit. But no one listened to him.
Original Video: 🥂
youtube
Major Timestamps While Watching the Original Video: 1) 2:17 Sparkling Cookie gives his alibi, which has a lot of major points that Royal Bear Jelly is the true culprit. You need to think a little deeper to understand it a bit better. 2) 18:52 Sparkling Cookie mentioning how Creme Brulee doesn't look like he could be the culprit. It's possible that Sparkling's a little annoyed, since every other character were either straight-up shocked or unintentionally blinded by a false truth.
🎀 Longer Context of the Video 🎀
This particular animatic features Sparkling Isui talking about his own speculations on who's the culprit behind Old Jolly's murder. (Although in actuality, they were just knockout by the culprit. But no one knew until way later in the story.)
Currently everyone suspected Creme Brulee Dantes is the one who killed Old Jolly, with the pianist himself feeling devastated that they blame him for a crime he didn't commit.
Prior to that when Cheddar Cheese, Macaroni, and Linzer were interrogating all the witnesses, Sparkling gave them very vital information.
Sparkling mentioned that he saw Royal Bear Jelly pushing the room service cart. Nearby the crime scene which took place a few minutes before he saw the train conductor heading out to the next train cart.
But despite giving the most vital evidence that Royal Bear Jelly is the culprit, no one even listened to Sparkling's alibi that proves that it wasn't Creme Brulee.

If you’re up for it, tips/faves from your Disney visit?
Okay, so I'm not expert, but here are some observations from my Walt Disney World trip in no particular order:
First off, I can't speak to other food sensitivities, but I can't eat even a little bit of gluten without becoming ill in such a way that half of my trip would have been ruined, and I was able to eat pretty easily. Ordering quick service meals through the My Disney Experience app, it was usually pretty easy to tell what I could and couldn't have, and for the table service meals that we had, the staff was incredibly knowledgeable about what either was already gluten-free or could be made gluten-free. For anyone who doesn't have food sensitivities, I don't know how to explain how much of a relief this was. Food is always such a cumbersome thing for me in general, and it's even worse when traveling, so having people who clearly knew what they were talking about go over menus with me was really reassuring, and I didn't get sick at all! Foodwise, highlights include: the churros at the Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom, which are GF, the GF beignets at Scat Cat's Cafe in the Port Orleans - French Quarter resort, and the Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace in Magic Kingdom. Also, we ponied up the cash for the Be Our Guest dining experience at Magic Kingdom, where you get to eat in Beast's castle from Beauty and the Beast, and the food was excellent. It's not a cheap meal, but, honestly, I think a similar-quality meal outside of WDW would cost about the same. And, whoever our host was is truly living his best life, acting like he's a straight-up cartoon character and clearly enjoying every second of it.
We had someone with some mobility issues who needed to sit or stop walking frequently, and some lessons learned from that: first off, if you're looking at the parks in terms of the amount of public seating with shade, Magic Kingdom is the best for that, followed by Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are tied for the worst. EPCOT is just...so dang hot with all the cement, and HS...okay, Galaxy's Edge does at least have some shade, but they didn't install as many places to sit as they really could have, and Toy Story Land is almost entirely roasting in the sun. If either of those areas had had a bit more seating/shade, we probably would have spent longer in the park, but as it was, it was sort of a half-day park for us.
If you're staying at a resort on-site, staying at one of the ones that the skyliner hits is super convenient, and way less crowded than the buses. The skyliner only goes to two parks, but still...that's two fewer bus rides.
Because of the way Disney has set things up, if you have any interest in the more popular rides, it is almost imperative to pay for Genie+ and occasionally Individual Lightning Lane passes. It's stupid, and I hate it, but if you're trying to maximize your time there, it's necessary to avoid standing in line half the day.
On that note, though, don't be afraid to ride the "lame" rides. Two of my favorite rides were the PeopleMover and the Carousel of Progress -- both of which I never would have checked out had I not seen Jenny Nicholson's "Top 10 Lame Things To Do At Disney World" video, which I also highly suggest (I actually love all of Jenny's videos, and she has several good ones on theme park stuff. This is one of the shortest ones).
Also, because of the way Genie+ and the Lightning Lane passes work, sometimes it's really easy to get caught up in the game of scheduling the day, and just hopping from one ride to the next without lingering in the parks and checking out the different areas. This is, in my opinion, a huge downside to this system. The parks are all highly themed in various ways, and there are cool things to look at and be around nearly everywhere. If you're constantly rushing from attraction to attraction, you miss some of that. So, try to take some time to linger. It really is worth it to do so.
If you're going to all four parks over the course of several days, I highly suggest having a rest day in the middle of the trip where you don't go to a park if you can. We had originally planned our not-park day for the end of the week, but ended up swapping it around with the last park day because we were just exhausted.
Unless something seems in danger of selling out throughout the day, save buying souvenirs til the end of the day. Spending a bunch of mental energy trying to make sure you don't spill something on your cool new bag or lose your cute Chewbacca plush is silly when you can probably just run through whatever stores on your way out. Ask me how I know this.
Don't be afraid to really examine whether the juice is worth the squeeze. I had been told we had to ride this one ride at Hollywood Studios, and even though I seriously grabbed a Lightning Lane pass four minutes after they were released, our time wasn't until like 7pm. By like...4:30, we had more than exhausted what we wanted to do at the park, were grumpy, and dreading waiting around for another 2.5 hours just to ride a roller coaster...so we didn't. We probably could have gone to the hotel and then gone back to the park, but we were just tired and kind of over it at that point, so we left for the day. And, honestly, I do not think any roller coaster would have been worth getting increasingly grumpy and sunburned over the course of a couple hours. Maybe if it had been a ride we were really looking forward to, but this was one we didn't even know existed until someone told us we had to ride it. So...examine what's actually worth the time/energy to you and base your decisions around that instead of on what other people say is a must-ride, must-do thing.

Quick! Tell me about your OCs! (I just really like hearing about people’s OCs)
!!! WAAUAUAUSDUHUS OKAY!!!
and to everyone who doesn't care about my ocs, u can ignore this ask bc i'm gonna be like this for the remainder of this post
Tumblr media
u have been warned.
my ocs that i mostly post about here belong to a future comic i intend to write, draw and post online called "chimera kingdom"! this is the tag on my blog -> #chimera kingdom <- it's comprised of art of my ocs as well as some miscellaneous stuff
it's a story that means a lot to me and one i definitely want to write in its entirety .. someday .. bc some of my oldest ocs are here!!! kimberly is my oldest oc i still use!!! she is a decade old!!! buzzer and ry are also almost as old, they were made like. idk. a week after kimberly ??? and fun fact but atticus is technically the oldest oc of the bunch but he's not technically my oc since i'm borrowing him from my friend. but i was given permission to write him my own way for this comic so YIPPEE!!!!!
it's a humble project with a lot of sentimental value, so i post about it occasionally even though this is mainly a fan art blog, i haven't illustrated it all, and don't know when it'll be done. not sure if i necessarily have "big dreams" for this thing, but it'd be cool to see it all come together ....... someday
BUT ANYWAY! some general lore and worldbuilding of "chimera kingdom" bc that's important!!!
the short synopsis: "in the near future, a government-funded lab/secret service/school conglomerate called the Chimera Kingdom experiments on humans. chimeras are the newest step in human(?) evolution, individuals with the added survival skills of a specific animal. they primarily exist to kill off monsters— dangerous, soulless creatures set to destroy humanity if not combated."
so basically chimeras are the merging of a human body and the strength, survival skills, and instincts of one animal. they still maintain their human body throughout unless their animal limbs serve as part of their survival (like bird chimeras with wings, big cat chimeras with claws, etc.). chimeras have to manually tap into their chimera states, meaning that under normal circumstances they're just regular humans. when a chimera's chimera state is active, a symbol on their inner wrist will appear and glow. that's what these are!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
chimeras are like. fantasy science basically. they're definitely scientific creations in-universe but leave some breathing space for fantasy too, so u don't concern urself with the specifics. the further this story goes, the more reality will be suspended as well
so how does this relate to the characters ?!?!
i won't go tooooo in depth with the individual characters since that would make this ask way too fucking long and i doubt anyone would want to read that. so i'll just link this post and this post which have the basic run-downs for the 10 student characters. these posts are a bit outdated now but i haven't had the time or the luxury to remake them so ..... they'll do for now =v= i also don't have everyone's bios written, so there's more characters than just these 10. if anyone i draw catches ur interest feel free to ask me! i WILL scream about them
anyway all 10 of them are chimeras attending Chimera School, a part of the Kingdom. the 10 of them make up the elite class, aka the "best" class due to everyone's potential to be very strong and useful chimeras. this class ignores grades since it's more focused on chimera missions and other stuff directly benefiting the Kingdom, less on actual academics (though they still learn the basics, dw). so they're of different ages but still on the same level playing field
the protag is kimberly, she's a rabbit chimera and her goal at the Kingdom is to become the strongest chimera!!! she's been in her twin brother ry's shadow since she can remember, so she has a bit of beef with him though it's not inherently malicious. he's good at everything so she wants to be better than him in just one thing. like .. u know when siblings are a little fucked up? yea :D
she acts as the audience surrogate for a bit before more perspectives are introduced. everyone has their own goals and motivations, and develop as the story moves forward. i intend for "chimera kingdom" to delve into war, love, grief, vulnerability, reclamation of power, and what it means to be human. and what it means to be an individual being when u can't even feel like u're worthy of being anyone. ya feel ?!?!?!?!
every character deals with one or multiple of these themes! in some kind! so lmk if there's a specific character u're interested in !!! i will word vomit for HOURS. i just don't want to crowd this already-crowded ask when there's a good amount of characters in my comic. and again i implore u to check out the links above for some quick info :)
SORRY THIS IS SO FUCKING LONGGGGG

various lore bits about her World.
Konigreich des Stolzes is ruled under King Mutigsten. With a flag so deeply green with silver in its border and emblem, boldly displaying the outline of a creature. In the form of an animal called a ‘lion’, with the shape of magnificent wings protruding from its back, its long tail curling around the legs like a snake. The closer you looked at the head of that lion, it seemed as if horns had sprouted to crown its intimidating appearance.
The Kings Knights consist of 6 very skilled and brilliant alchemists, accompanied often by the learning and aspiring squires ( who know little of impressive alchemy, but are quick to learn ) All squires were under the service of the King, either themselves or their family members, and are required to do a 'blood' test to be certain they are 'capable' of performing Alchemy in His Service. With the exception of a single squire by the name of Atlas, who is believed to be the reincarnation of the god of strength - Poros.
The World a mixture of fantastic beasts and alchemy mixed with steampunk elements as alchemy and mechanics struggle to out-class one another. there are the more traditional 'creatures' you see in fantasy media : kobolds, sahaghin, faerie, golems, dragons, etc etc ( said to either be an alchemy-made phenomena, or directly created by the EinSof itself ) - but there are also the creatures you find in medieval alchemy texts.
There are religions in this world. Christianity and cults do exist and consider EinSof believers ( alchemists ) to be heretics that place themselves above their god. there is a political aspect behind all kingdoms that is fueled by their religions and King Mutigsten is perhaps the most zealous of all. Their Kingdom Stolez is surrounded by all borders by opposing religious Kingdoms, and though all Kingdoms agree to keep peace for the sake of the people, King Mutigsten is not known within the castle for his peaceful co-operation ( hence, why he enslaved Qistina after her awakening with Khrosteia, for even deeper reasons to be revealed at a later date. )
the world is called Egedore, and she lives in one of the many Kingdoms in their region.

Any must have rides to do or places to go when at Disney
*cracks knuckles*
Well since you asked....
For rides, at MK I'd definitely recommend Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain (if you like coasters), Thunder Mountain (if you like coasters), jingle cruise, the people mover, and Pooh bear cause its cute af. For food, 10/10 recommend Casey's Corner, I dream of their hot dogs 😂 if yoh want more of a sit down restaurant, skippers canteen is great! But if you have picky eaters, The Plaza and Tony's are also good choices.
Epcot rides: Spaceship earth, the ratatouille ride (if you don't mind 3D), GoTG coasters (if you like coasters), soarin!, and test track! For food, we could be here all day 😂 epcot has the best food, especially with the world showcase but if you're looking for a sit-down restaurant, I recommend La Hacienda, Rose and Crown, and (if you have picky eaters) The Garden Grille.
Hollywood studios rides: Rise of the Resistance (idc if you're a star wars fan or not, it's AMAZING), rocking Rollercoaster (if you like coasters), tower of terror (if you like drop rides), slinky dog coaster (very mild), and star tours. Bonus! Not TECHNICALLY a ride but the Muppet 3d show is one of my favorite shows so def recommend checking it out. For food, Woody's Lunchbox is great! Gets really crowded though so fair warning. For a sit down, mama Melrose is *chefs kiss* and for picky eaters, the ABC commissary has a plethora of options.
ALSO ! The Fantasmic fireworks show (its amazing and possibly one of my favorite shows) does dinner packages with certain restaurants. Def check it out!
Animal Kingdom Rides: kilamanjaro safari!! Avatar's the flight of passage (if you don't mind 3D), mount everest coaster (if you don't mind cossters), and, though not a ride, the festival of the lion king show is GREAT!! It's for all ages and it's so fun! For food: the yak and Yeti restaurant is a MUST! If you can't get a resi, they also have quick service options outside the restaurant! Also recommend the Tusker House for picky eaters!
Disney springs: food wise, you have a million options but for me, Chef Art Smith's Homecoming is a MUST! Best fried chicken, BBQ pulled pork, AND Mac and cheese ❤️ raglan road is also an excellent choice! As is Enzo's hideaway and the Boathouse! For picky eaters, rainforest Cafe and planet Hollywood are great choices, and if you're more in the mood for something quick, earl's sandwiches, The polite pig, and chicken guy are great options. For me, a Disney trip isn't complete w/out stopping at Ghirardelli's ice cream ❤️
Hope this was helpful!

Re: Disney Parks - It would be great to see some posts about your favorite spots in the park, food places and/or rides.
sure! don’t mind me, i’ll just do a long post lol.
i’ve always been a magic kingdom girly, but that’s kind of died down for me. but still love love magic kingdom at night and she’s my favorite solo park. i’m a big haunted mansion, pirates, and big thunder girly. i do love adventureland and tomorrowland a lot. i still get lost in fantasyland and she is not my favorite LOL. hot take im still mad they got rid of my two favorite food/drinks in mk literally 3 years ago. but for nostalgia purposes, casey’s corner is good.
animal kingdom is also my girl. she is my absolute favorite at christmas and the park entrance music !? but especially the christmas entrance music? SO GOOD. i love dinoland so very much and could go on many rants about it. she is so themed and so great and i wish they didn’t want to get rid of her. dak is a lovely vibe park, but also one i typically don’t do for very long tbh (BUT SHE IS A FULL DAY PARK FOR TOURISTS!! SHE SHOULD BE) so i don’t have much food recs besides satuuli. love flight and dinosaur.
epcot with the walls down consistently throws me off. epcot hot take is that she’s not fun without a festival but!! it’s fine!! she’s also a fun vibe and i vibe with literally just doing laps around epcot and talking with friends. love the mexico pavilion, it’s just so busy i do not ever want to stay there long. guardians is my favorite. love spaceship earth and soarin as well. very intrigued by the test track refurb. honestly, more a festival food person there but i do enjoy the quick service in the mexico pavilion.
hollywood studios is such a hard solo park place, but she’s still managed to grow on me a bit. somehow think i like the food there the most..abc commisary and woody’s are my favs. studios is just so hard to do much unless you bought genie (or whatever her new name is lol). my solo park vibe was typically dinner and muppets. like that’s all. but slinky and minnie&mickey’s are fun and galaxy’s edge is great too. def a night park for me.
ANYWAYS sorry long post. lmk if you want my resort opinions because i feel like i frequent the hotels a lot at this point. or firework show opinions because i have LOTS of those

Starting a Journey (Short Story)
A small window into the world I’ve been building and a story I’ve been dreaming up for a very long time.
----
“Let me make something absolutely clear. If most students enter nurturing a candle to a hearth, maybe a bonfire if they’re gifted, you have walked in a wildfire. You will destroy everything in your path if you do not take care.”
“That was not of my own accord!” Amata cried defensively.
“But it is your responsibility,” stressed Sophic Zervos.
----
Three Years Later
----
The stables were clean, nearly empty, and idle. Most families had already fetched their horses, if they came with one, and started the long journey home. Amata walked directly up to her stable with a tall black quarter horse, complete with two white socks on his front legs.
Hello Marcus.
Hello Amata. His ears twitched impatiently. What took you so long?
Amata ignored his impertinence. Ready to go home?
He stared and swished his tale, eyes giving away insecurity.
I’ll be with you every step of the way. Amata reached up and scratched the spot between his eyes. Marcus closed his eyes and lowered his head. Okay.
It had taken a year of working, saving, and bartering for Amata to afford this trip. Then years before that to ensure there would be enough to get Amata set up for her new life. All this while going through school.
Now the fruits of her labor had come to fruition. A fully provisioned wagon, less the bags she carried, was secured in the barn. A graduate as well, with a firm handshake from Sophic Zervos, no less, and a diploma to prove it. At the ceremony Amata thought she even spotted a tear at the corner of his eye.
Amata swung open Marcus’ barn door. I have to muck your stall and leave things nice before we go. Feel free to stretch your legs.
Are you going to miss cleaning up my shit?
Amata rolled her eyes.
Marcus happily trotted the length of the stable poking around for leftover alfalfa.
How one horse-man could poop so much was a mystery to her.
This is humiliating.
Marcus, we have already discussed this.
I will not do it.
Amata sighed. I didn't even get reins, Marcus. Do you know how that looks? A horse without reins? You are in total control. I will only break at your command.
I am a nobleman. I shouldn’t have to pull a cart like some kind of work animal.
Indeed you are a nobleman. Please Marcus. Be a gentleman and help me get you home.
He huffed. And pawed. Then he lowered his head to allow Amata to slip on the collar.
Even his obstinance could not dampen Amata’s mood. All their hard work, yes even Marcus’, was being realized. And she wasn’t about to waste time splitting hairs on his horse predicament.
Amata took extra care to check in with Marcus with every buckle and strap. They did a test walk with all the breeching and when Marcus declared it passable Amata nearly jumped for joy. Even he couldn’t hide a small horsey smile.
Before the morning was over, Amata had Marcus hooked up to the cart and ready to go. She stepped up, thankful they had practiced a few times, and took her seat.
To Sonora! Marcus’ home!
Marcus gave a quick neigh before jumping forward into a quick trot, laughing.
Amata hung on, frightened and also laughing.
The path was not particularly well-traveled, outside of interprovincial post and tradesfolk. The road itself was maintained by the kingdom, modest but serviceable. At first, the woods looked just like the rest surrounding the school. Tall verdant trees bore silent witnesses to more than a few magical mistakes. The sun was high but it hardly felt pressing since the canopies provided abundant shade. Insects chirped for mates and moss clung to bark, rocks, and anything else it could stick to. The only downside of this lush flora was the humidity required to support it.
Marcus wordlessly clopped along, catching his breath from his initial burst of energy.
Amata pulled her tunic forward a few times to allow for better airflow into the garment.
It would be six days’ time before they reached a small town, then another eight days’ time before they could touch Sonora.
Marcus?
What do you want?
What is your mom like?
What?
What’s your mom like?
Marcus hesitated.
Amata pressed on. We have a long trip ahead of us. And you wouldn’t let me bring anyone else into this. So what’s your mom like?
She is kind. I always said I never knew how that woman created me.
Amata chuckled. Marcus turned his head back in a pretend glare.
My mother sees the best in people. She can make friends with anyone. Almost no one is a stranger to her. She will love you.
At this, Amata blushed a little.
And you? Are you sticking to your story?
That I am the child of a commoner woman, now passed blesshersoul, and a noble father who refuses to claim me? Yes. That is my sad, sad tale. It is not so bad. I met an interesting fellow who got himself turned into a horse.
Laugh all you like. But do you not get lonely, being known by no one? Amata flinched. And you suggest that you be the one who knows me?
We have a long trip ahead of us. And I can’t bring anyone else into this. He mocked playfully.
It was Amata’s turn to hesitate. What can I do to make my story more believable?
All good lies have shadows of truth. You can start by telling me the truth.
The silence hung awkwardly between them. Amata let her head hang and covered her face.
I think my parents are dead. The people who killed them are after me too.
Ah, I see the… issue here. I am sorry Amata.   Amata took some shaky breaths. Let’s stop for daymeal.

Affordable Adventures Near Taronga Western Plains Zoo
Tumblr media
Dubbo, nestled in the heart of New South Wales, beckons families and wildlife enthusiasts with its crown jewel: Taronga Western Plains Zoo. While the prospect of encountering lions, giraffes, and cheetahs is thrilling, the cost of Dubbo Accommodations Near the Zoo can sometimes raise concerns. Dubbo offers a variety of comfortable and affordable options to ensure your wildlife adventure doesn't break the bank.
Motels On The Move: Comfort And Convenience At A Reasonable Price
Motels are a classic choice for affordable accommodation near Taronga Western Plains Zoo. These conveniently located establishments often boast on-site parking, free Wi-Fi, and potentially continental breakfasts to kickstart your day.
Many motels feature family-friendly rooms with multiple beds, perfect for accommodating families without requiring extra expenses for cots or squeezing onto single beds. Look for motels within walking distance of the zoo or near public transport links, minimising travel hassles and maximising your time exploring the wonders of the animal kingdom.
Self-Catering Apartments: Save Money, Savor Freedom
For families and budget-conscious travellers, serviced apartments offer a cost-saving alternative to traditional hotel rooms. These fully-equipped apartments have kitchen facilities, allowing you to prepare meals and avoid dining-out expenses throughout your stay.
Imagine whipping up a quick breakfast before heading to the zoo or enjoying a family dinner cooked with fresh local ingredients from nearby supermarkets.

Package Power: Bundling Savings For Smart Travelers
A little research can go a long way regarding finding affordable accommodation near Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Many hotels and motels offer special packages that bundle accommodation with zoo tickets. This can result in significant savings compared to booking these items separately.
Watch for deals and packages advertised on hotel websites, travel booking platforms, or the zoo's official website. These packages often cater to families or specific durations of stay, so be sure to compare options and find the one that best suits your needs and budget.
Public Transport Perks: Affordable Access To The Zoo
If staying within walking distance of the zoo isn't feasible or doesn't fit your budget, consider hotels near public transport links. Dubbo boasts a reliable bus network that connects various parts of the city, including the zoo. Many hotels offer complimentary shuttle services to nearby bus stops, making it easy and affordable to reach the zoo. Public transport passes are also available, potentially saving you money compared to taxi fares or the cost of car rentals if you're not planning on extensive exploration beyond the zoo.
Final Thoughts
By considering motels, serviced apartments, package deals, and public transport options, you can secure comfortable and budget-friendly Dubbo accommodations near the zoo. Remember to research and book your stay in advance, especially during peak seasons. With a little planning and these tips in mind, you can transform your Dubbo adventure into an unforgettable and affordable experience filled with wildlife encounters, family fun, and lasting memories.

This not only accelerates the design and decision-making process but also fosters innovation through diverse perspectives.
Choosing the Right 3D Design Partner

Day 5 - Extended opening hours (soon)
two of wands // discovery, accomplishment, planning
For the first few days of business over here at zen-cha, I've received queries about whether we'll consider staying open sundown. I hadn't been a fan of the idea initially - nighttime, to me, brings to mind taverns and bars, and I neither serve alcohol nor want to handle tipsy customers in my cafe, since the furniture isn't exactly very replaceable on short notice and I'm running the place on my own.
The idea of staying open longer to sell more pastries is fairly tempting, though, and it's not like I have anywhere I need to be after I close the cafe - I'll just be in my room in the hut next to the cafe, coming up with new recipe ideas or just drinking tea.
A customer came in today looking for tea and sweets, and as he ate he told me about his time in the vibrant cafe-streets of the Daybreak Kingdom to the east. The Daybreak Kingdom is famous for its cafe culture, and I won't lie if I said that the very idea of zen-cha itself was at least partially inspired by the many varied cafes I saw on the one time I had visited the kingdom for business. This customer told me he was quite the cafe-hopper, and that in the Daybreak Kingdom, there are some dessert cafes that open until late in the night to cater to those looking for a sweet treat after dinner, or those looking to sober up with a quick sugar rush.
Of course, nobody's going to be wandering half-drunk through my forest in the middle of the night. But this is, after all, not entirely a mundane forest that I've chosen to set up shop in, and it occurred to me that maybe the children of the night, and the other creatures who rule the forest when the moon is high, might also want a sweet treat to get them through the night.
After sundown today, after closing up shop for the day, I took a stroll out through the forest. With my makeshift dowsing-rod that I'd fashioned from the branches of the witch-hazel plant, I was pleased to find a quiet river flowing through the forest somewhere west of the cafe - and flitting around the banks of the river, a great number of fireflies. Watching them loop around each other, like ever so many twinkling stars hovering just at eye level, an idea came to me - if I opened my cafe at night, I could light up the interior of the cafe with fireflies. Their flickering lights would surely make interesting shadows with the plants growing all over the cafe, and they would provide sufficient light without destroying the relaxing mood of the shop.
Not real fireflies, of course. I wouldn't be that cruel - they'd die alone and mate-less if I were to keep them in captivity for more than a day. But conjuring animal constructs is child's play, something we used to do for fun in between classes at the Academy, and I imagine conjuring fifty or so firefly-sprites each night wouldn't make me break too much of a sweat.
So on the banks of the river, I decided - after the Winter Solstice break, I'll start opening my cafe into the evenings for half the week, for customers to come enjoy my tea and desserts by firefly-light. Who knows, perhaps I might meet some interesting new customers, and even come up with some new menu items exclusively for the evening service!
