random headcanon: when he was alive, Angel/Anthony tended to get into a lot of fights with randos in bars and stuff, you know taking his aggression due to having a shitty father onto everything else, since he was really young. Molly would patch him up and sermon him everytime, worried for his safety.
Angel uses his rep as a troublemaker to make it the only reason why he would ever get home all covered in bruises, using it to hide the fact his closet is getting thinner the older he got, but he stilled lived in the 1900s.
Basically, Molly couldn't know her brother was getting hate-crimed in alarming rates.

#Angel had gone throught massive rewrites throught the years #but the thing that had been there since the very beggining is that he is a openly queer man from the 1900s surrounded by violence #and I think about that alot
I've been thinking about that too! (Probably because I'm reading Lackadaisy at the moment and the early 1900s is on my mind.)
I wouldn't say I'm a huge history nerd, but it would be really interesting to research the decades in which Angel would have been alive, and what life was like in Brooklyn back then, and how the mafia really behaved (as opposed to what we see in movies), and how queer people were treated. Just to see how that would have influenced Angel's personality.
