'I have never seen a painting of a drone' also a relatively new and contentious development in our culture. Essentially a piece of military hardware, now readily available to a desensitised public. Fears of privacy and surveillance contend with the exciting new possibilities presented by these machines. The large-scale drone painting is a simple juxtaposition between painterly approaches, which gives the piece a striking rhythm. After Bomford, Andy Allen

‘After Bomford’ is part of a larger series of paintings based on the Metro air vents around Prague. These large and unusual structures pop up in areas of the city; all completely different in design but are in essence the same functional structures. Despite living and working in Prague, and visiting each of the vents several times, these works are painted from the black and white photographs of Cedric Bomford. This allows another level of distortion and invention to take place. The works also use Graffiti as a visual trigger; this ‘low art’ is then repackaged in the context of Oil Painting. The harsh shadows and distinctive shapes of the structure jostle with the sickly sweet background leaving the viewer with a jarring and otherworldly image. This work is an experiment in the viewer’s perception, lots of strong visual triggers jostle. The strong vertical lines, the text and the silhouette all scream for the viewer’s attention. **This Painting is Artist quality Oils and 12oz cotton duck canvas, stretched with traditional glue size over a hand made pine stretcher bar
