Watch Craig Robinson in Tyler MacIntyre’s Comedy Horror Slasher Comedy ‘Tragedy Girls’ (Trailer) with Alexandra Shipp
“You can’t be too careful especially with a nut job on the loose. So you want me to sponsor you?” In a twist on the slasher genre, in ‘Tragedy Girls’ Sadie and McKayla are two social-media obsessed best friends who will stop at nothing to build their online following. The self-titled “Tragedy Girls” kidnap Lowell (Craig Robinson), an unambitious local serial killer, and force him to mentor…

Training camp primer: NFC East NFC East (listed in predicted order of finish) Dallas Cowboys Projected 2020 record: 11-5 2019 record: 8-8 2019 summary: The offense clicked as well as anyone could have hoped under new coordinator Kellen Moore, but untimely hiccups and defensive inconsistency led to a pair of three-game losing streaks. After a finish outside the playoffs, longtime head coach Jason Garrett was not retained. Key additions: WR CeeDee Lamb, DT Gerald McCoy, DT Dontari Poe, S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, QB Andy Dalton, CB Trevon Diggs, DT Neville Gallimore, K Greg Zuerlein Noteworthy losses: C Travis Frederick, CB Byron Jones, DE Robert Quinn, WR Randall Cobb, DE Michael Bennett, DT Maliek Collins, TE Jason Witten, S Jeff Heath, G Xavier Su’a-Filo Cause for concern: Quinn looked rejuvenated in 2019, landing him a big contract in Chicago, and other talented defenders in Jones, Bennett and Collins are all gone. There’s enough depth to survive at cornerback, but the pass rush opposite DeMarcus Lawrence might need a boost. Position battle worth watching: Frederick wasn’t quite himself in 2019, but his retirement was nonetheless a blow. Who will replace him? Connor McGovern, a 2019 third-rounder who missed his rookie campaign due to injury, will try to unseat veteran Joe Looney, while fourth-round rookie Tyler Biadasz could factor. Over-Under win total from PointsBet: 9.5 The Cowboys are a classic candidate to improve, as their 8-8 record last season belied a terrific plus-113 point differential. There are several questions still to answer, but they have the talent to hit double-digit wins with ease. 2020 forecast: It’s unclear how much new head coach Mike McCarthy will influence the offense, but a loaded unit should continue to thrive with CeeDee Lamb’s arrival. Dak Prescott is still playing for a payday, and Ezekiel Elliott should be in better shape. Dallas’ ceiling depends on new coordinator Mike Nolan’s defense, but the Cowboys should battle the Eagles for the division title. Philadelphia Eagles Projected 2020 record: 10-6 2019 record: 9-7 2019 summary: An offense ravaged by injuries struggled to move the ball, but Carson Wentz & Co. won four straight to close the season and claim the NFC East. Wentz, however, was concussed early in what would be a season-ending playoff loss to the Seahawks. Key additions: CB Darius Slay, DT Javon Hargrave, WR Jalen Reagor, CB Nickell Robey-Coleman, S Will Parks, QB Jalen Hurts, LB Jatavis Brown Noteworthy losses: S Malcolm Jenkins, RB Jordan Howard, DE Vinny Curry, CB Ronald Darby, OL Halapoulivaati Vaitai, DT Tim Jernigan, WR Nelson Agholor, LB Nigel Bradham, LB Kamu Grugier-Hill Cause for concern: Once one of the league’s best, the offensive line is showing cracks. Pro Bowl guard Brandon Brooks (Achilles) is out for the year, and the contingency plan — veteran left tackle Jason Peters re-signed to switch to right guard — is risky. Peters’ replacement, Andre Dillard, was shaky as a first-round rookie last season, and center Jason Kelce will turn 33 in November. Position battle worth watching: After scraping the bottom of the barrel last season, the Eagles have options at wideout, but Alshon Jeffery’s health (foot) leaves a few roles up for grabs. First-round rookie Jalen Reagor should start, but he fits best in the slot or as the Z receiver, which is DeSean Jackson’s nominal spot. JJ Arcega-Whiteside is built to play the X but underwhelmed as a rookie. Greg Ward and rookie John Hightower could also factor in. Over-Under win total from PointsBet: 9.5 A decimated roster made it to nine wins a year ago, and the Eagles are clearly improved, so we feel good about the over. That said, Brooks’ injury was a big blow, and several other key players have a history of getting hurt, so it’s not without risk. 2020 forecast: Wentz got much-needed weapons, and the defense added difference makers up front (Hargrave) and on the back end (Slay). If the reconfigured O-line clicks, Wentz could return to a Pro Bowl level and Philadelphia could be a Super Bowl contender. Still, the Eagles’ variance is high, as Wentz and Jackson have worrisome injury histories, and Fletcher Cox showed signs of decline in 2019. New York Giants Projected 2020 record: 6-10 2019 record: 4-12 2019 summary: The Giants benched Eli Manning early in favor of rookie Daniel Jones, who showed bright spots amid a turnover-heavy rookie campaign. New York did win two of its last three, though that likely cost it top college pass-rusher Chase Young, who Washington took No. 2 overall. Key additions: CB James Bradberry, OT Andrew Thomas, LB Blake Martinez, S Xavier McKinney, OLB Kyler Fackrell, OT Cameron Fleming, RB Dion Lewis, OT Matt Peart Noteworthy losses: LT Nate Solder (opt-out), QB Eli Manning, LB Alec Ogletree, RT Mike Remmers, S Antoine Bethea, C Jon Halapio, LB Deone Bucannon, K Aldrick Rosas Cause for concern: The Giants had only one player with more than 4.5 sacks or 13 QB hits (Markus Golden, 10 and 27) in 2019, but they didn’t add much and brought back Golden only after he had few suitors in free agency. They must hope Lorenzo Carter or Oshane Ximines develops, as Fackrell is hardly dynamic off the edge. Position battle worth watching: Solder has been a poor performer and a massive overpay at left tackle, but his opt-out leaves a major hole. Thomas will very likely fill it, but then who steps in at right tackle? The veteran Fleming should have the edge over Peart, an athletic third-round rookie who must get stronger. Over-Under win total from PointsBet: 6.5 Good quarterbacks tend to make a leap in Year 2, so if you’re a believer in Jones, we don’t blame you for taking the over. But we see a few too many concerns on both sides of the ball to have high expectations in Joe Judge’s first season as head coach. 2020 forecast: Judge and his Patriots-influenced staff aren’t under pressure to win early, so Jones’ development should be the top priority. The Giants will hope the QB returns with better ball security and awareness for pressure, but that’s asking a lot behind an unsettled O-line, even if Thomas’ transition is smooth. Jones does have a nice set of weapons, but the defense has significant question marks. Washington Football Team Projected 2020 record: 6-10 2019 record: 3-13 2019 summary: A tire fire from the start, Washington opened 0-5, leading to Jay Gruden’s firing. Rookie QB Dwayne Haskins took longer to acclimate to the NFL than hoped, but he did show flashes before a Week 16 injury ended his season. Key additions: DE Chase Young, DB Kendall Fuller, CB Ronald Darby, LB Thomas Davis, G Wes Schweitzer, OT Cornelius Lucas, S Sean Davis, QB Kyle Allen, RB/WR Antonio Gibson, OT Saahdiq Charles, WR Antonio Gandy Golden Noteworthy losses: LT Trent Williams, TE Jordan Reed, CB Quinton Dunbar, CB Josh Norman, LT Donald Penn, TE Vernon Davis, G Ereck Flowers, WR Paul Richardson, RB Chris Thompson, QB Case Keenum Cause for concern: Haskins made progress as a rookie, but he didn’t get much help, and that doesn’t seem to be changing. There’s no remotely appealing option at left tackle, and Washington didn’t add much of note at either wideout or tight end, apparently counting on development from Kelvin Harmon and Steven Sims behind Terry McLaurin. Gibson could be a slot/gadget weapon, but the team plans to start him at running back. Position battle worth watching: With Williams traded and Penn unsigned, the left tackle job is wide open. The veteran Lucas, 2018 third-rounder Geron Christian and rookie fourth-rounder Charles — a talented but inconsistent prospect who slipped in the draft due to character concerns — are the primary competitors, but signing another veteran might be wise. Over-Under win total from PointsBet: 5.5 New head coach Ron Rivera brings a strong track record from Carolina, but he’s got his work cut out for him as Washington tries to fix issues both on and off the field. There’s certainly a path to seven or eight wins, but another three-win season seems just as likely. We’d pass on this one. 2020 forecast: Young’s arrival could ignite the defense, which is loaded with talent up front and also has an intriguing set of playmakers in the secondary. But can that unit compensate if the offense is dead weight? Haskins flashes high-level processing and arm talent, but unless his slimmer self proves more mobile, he needs protection and weapons to produce. Washington doesn’t have much of either at the moment. –Field Level Media The post Training camp primer: NFC East appeared first on National Football Post.

Meet the delightful blue-checked podcaster mocking Andy Ngo for suffering a brain hemorrhage at Antifa’s hands
Just when you thought you’d seen the worst, most heinous take on Antifa’s assault on independent journalist Andy Ngo, along comes a new contender to show us what he’s got. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Nate Bethea, who cohosts and produces “a leftist military and veteran podcast” and who apparently is not only OK with Antifa beating up non-leftist journalists but actively applauds it.

Assisted by family and friends, Nevaeh Carter and Simone Edmondson found themselves “excited but nervous” as they arrived at the MTSU campus Wednesday, Aug. 19, moved in to high-rise dormitories and prepared to begin life as college students while the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the country.
Students from all across Tennessee — from Cordova in the Memphis area, and Maryville and Chattanooga in East Tennessee — and from as far away as Milwaukee, Wisconsin, drove to campus on the first official day of move-ins into campus housing.
Normally a two-day event, Housing and Student Affairs officials have turned the move-in into a quieter, less stressful six-day event. About 450 new and returning students were scheduled to move in on Wednesday.
This time, however, health protocols — everyone required to wear masks and face coverings and maintaining social distancing — are in place.
MTSU students are returning to campus to begin the 2020-21 academic year and the pandemic has prompted noticeable changes for those living in campus residence halls. To mitigate the spread of the coronavirus, MTSU is reopening residence halls at single-occupancy levels for the fall, meaning that rooms that previously would be shared by two roommates will only be occupied by a single student.
“The administration and staff have communicated how they are making it safe,” said Veronica Carter, Nevaeh Carter’s mother. “It’s pretty well up to the parents to make sure their student is safe.”
Carter, who is from Cordova and a spring 2020 Germantown High School graduate, said she was “excited and nervous because of coronavirus, but I want to get that freshman experience.” She will be an early childhood education major in the College of Education.
Edmondson, 17, from La Vergne and a spring La Vergne High graduate, admitted to being “kind of nervous” about starting college, though, through dual-enrollment, she already has more than 20 college credits. She will be studying videography and film in the College of Media and Entertainment.
Joi Garner, 18, of Chattanooga (Tyner High alumnus) and animal science major this fall at MTSU, anticipated “more stress” with the move-in.” She was able to “bring more items because I don’t have a roommate.” Calling herself “a neat freak,” Garner said she’s all-in for keeping her room clean. She will be taking a combination of hybrid and online courses.
The new students are expected to participate in a virtual Convocation at 5 p.m. Saturday. The event features Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, author of the Summer Reading Program book “What the Eyes Don’t See,” about the water quality crisis in Flint, Michigan, five years ago.
A mix of in-person, hybrid and online classes will begin Monday, Aug. 24.

The NFL’s best remaining free agents
Many of the top names have already agreed to deals, but as free agency officially begins, these are the top names available.
The NFL’s official start to their new league year is here, but due to the league’s negotiating or “legal tampering” period, many of the big name free agents are already off the market. That’s because the negotiating period allows agents and teams to enter into contract talks even though pen cannot be put to paper until the start of the new league year.
Last year was a frenzy during the negotiating period, with most of the top players gone by the time the market actually opened. A whole bunch of deals were cemented right at 4 p.m. ET when the league year started, and that’s the case this year as well. Players can continue negotiating with other teams after agreeing in principle to a new deal — nothing is final until the contract is signed and submitted to the league office. But once something is reported as a done deal, there is minimal flip-flopping.
It’s likely this trend — the biggest players agreeing to deals before free agency actually starts — will continue.
That said, there are still plenty of good to great players still out there, waiting to find a team for the 2019 season. Below, we’re going to point you to the best still available — in alphabetical order — at each offensive and defensive position.
Quarterback
Signed: Derek Anderson, Nick Foles, Ryan Griffin, Taylor Heinicke, Brett Hundley, Matt Schaub, Tyrod Taylor Best Available: Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Colin Kaepernick
Nick Foles is getting paid a ton of money by the Jaguars, and after that the market gets a little bit stale. Obviously, the best available quarterback (Kaepernick) s probably not going to get signed. Another team will surely try and kick the tires on Blake Bortles if/when he’s relesed, while old standbys like Taylor, Fitzpatrick, and McCown are the more reliable of the group.
Others available: Sam Bradford, Matt Cassel, Mike Glennon, Robert Griffin III, Josh Johnson, Sean Mannion, Josh McCown, Brock Osweiler, Mark Sanchez, Tom Savage, Trevor Siemian, Geno Smith, Joe Webb
Running Back
Signed: Le’Veon Bell, Mike Davis, Andre Ellington, Frank Gore, Kareem Hunt, Carlos Hyde, Mark Ingram, Latavius Murray, Adrian Peterson, Zach Zenner Best Available: Jay Ajayi, C.J. Anderson, Tevin Coleman, Marshawn Lynch, T.J. Yeldon
There’s still a strong market for running backs, with young guys like Coleman, Ajayi, and Yeldon available. It’s a strong group of running backs, and even the players below all have shown they have something to offer.
Others available: Ameer Abdullah, LeGarrette Blount, Alfred Blue, Doug Martin, Alfred Morris, Ty Montgomery, Bilal Powell, Stevan Ridley, Darren Sproles, Jonathan Stewart, Spencer Ware
Wide Receiver
Signed: Danny Amendola, Cole Beasley, Josh Bellamy, John Brown, Jamison Crowder, Larry Fitzgerald, Devin Funchess, Adam Humphries, Cordarrelle Patterson, Breshad Perriman, Tyrell Williams Best Available: Randall Cobb, Michael Crabtree, Phillip Dorsett, Donte Moncrief, Golden Tate
The biggest names to change teams at the wide receiver position were not free agents — Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. were both traded — but there are still some talented pass catchers out there. Veterans Tate, Crabtree, and Moncrief are always looking to prove they still got it.
Others available: Tavon Austin, Kelvin Benjamin, Dez Bryant, Chris Conley, Pierre Garcon, Justin Hardy, Chris Hogan, Dontrelle Inman, Jermaine Kearse, Jordan Matthews, Rishard Matthews, J.J. Nelson, De’Anthony Thomas, Demaryius Thomas, Mike Wallace, Terrance Williams
Tight End
Signed: Dwayne Allen, Nick Boyle, Charles Clay, Demetrius Harris, Jesse James, Tyler Kroft, C.J. Uzomah Best Available: Jared Cook, Tyler Eifert, Austin Seferian-Jenkins
Most of what remains in the tight end market includes veterans who never quite developed as receiving threats or veterans who have a history of injuries. It’s not a great market, one of the weaker ones in recent years.
Others available: Darren Fells, Antonio Gates, MarQueis Gray, Jermaine Gresham, Jeff Heuerman, Michael Hoomanawanui, Lance Kendricks, Marcedes Lewis, Logan Paulsen, Richard Rogers, Dion Sims, Geoff Swaim, Levin Toilolo, Maxx Williams, Luke Willson
Offensive Line
Signed: Oday Aboushi, Jamon Brown, Trent Brown, James Carpenter, A.J. Cann, Jon Feliciano, Ramon Foster, Mark Glowinski, Denzelle Good, Jonotthan Harrison, Bobby Hart, Seantrel Henderson, Ja’Wuan James, Ted Larsen, Spencer Long, Cornelius Lucas, Bobby Massie, Mitch Morse, Ty Nsekhe, Michael Ola, Kevin Pamphile, Matt Paradis, Mike Person, Greg Robinson, Rodger Saffold, Ty Sambrailo, Brian Schwenke, Donovan Smith, J.R. Sweezy, Billy Turner, Daryl Williams Best Available: D.J. Fluker, Mike Iupati, Kendall Lamm, John Miller, Jeremy Parnell, Ryan Schraeder
As usual, teams did their best to re-sign their own offensive linemen. It’s rare that a high-end tackle or guard makes it to free agency, and when they do, they are quickly snatched up, as was the case with Brown and Paradis.
Others available: Jeff Allen, Joe Barksdale, T.J. Clemmings, Chris Clark, Nick Easton, Cameron Fleming, Ereck Flowers, Max Garcia, Garry Gilliam, Ryan Groy, Ulrick John, T.J. Lang, Andy Levitre, Jordan Mills, OT Marshall Newhouse, Cedric Ogbuehi, Tyler Shatley, Quinton Spain, John Sullivan, Travis Swanson, Jared Veldheer, LaAdrian Waddle, Josh Wells, Stefen Wisniewski
EDGE
Signed: , Anthony Chickillo, Frank Clark (franchise tag), Jadeveon Clowney (franchise tag), Dee Ford, Trey Flowers, Dante Fowler Jr., Brandon Graham, DeMarcus Lawrence (franchise tag), Steven Means, Brooks Reed, John Simon, Preston Smith, Za’Darius Smith, Terrell Suggs, Cameron Wake Best Available: Ezekiel Ansah, Shaq Barrett, Markus Golden, Justin Houston, Clay Matthews, Shane Ray
Just look at the signings to determine the value of the EDGE position in the NFL — all of the top players got franchise tags except for Flowers and Fowler, who were quickly locked up.
Others available: Sam Acho, Jerry Attaochu, Connor Barwin, Vinny Curry, Kony Ealy, Eli Harold, William Hayes, Bruce Irvin, Michael Johnson, Dion Jordan, Matt Longacre, Aaron Lynch, Benson Mayowa, Pernell McPhee, Derrick Morgan, Alex Okafor, Nick Perry, Frostee Rucker, Derrick Shelby, Frank Zombo
Defensive Tackle
Signed: Tyson Alualu, Henry Anderson, Angelo Blackson, Carl Davis, Johnathan Hankins, Margus Hunt, Malik Jackson, Grady Jarrett (franchise tag), Jordan Phillips, Sheldon Richardson, Shamar Stephen Best Available: Christian Covington, Timmy Jernigan, Corey Liuget, Darius Philon, Ndamukong Suh, Muhammad Wilkerson
There weren’t many top-end defensive tackle talents available in free agency. The ones who have had recent success on the field either agreed to terms quickly, or were given the franchise tag.
Others available: Allen Bailey, Malcom Brown, Tyeler Davison, Dominique Easley, Mario Edwards, Rodney Gunter, Ziggy Hood, Ricky Jean-Francois, Zach Kerr, Brandon Mebane, Earl Mitchell, Haloti Ngata, Mike Pennel, Ahtyba Rubin, Danny Shelton, Brent Urban
Linebacker
Signed: Kwon Alexander, Ray-Ray Armstrong, Anthony Barr, Preston Brown, Deone Bucannon, Bruce Carter, Thomas Davis, Jordan Hicks, Justin March-Lillard, C.J. Mosley, Denzel Perryman, Craig Robertson, Adarius Taylor, Damien Wilson, Paul Worrilow Best Available: Mark Barron, Jamie Collins, Gerald Hodges, Brandon Marshall, K.J. Wright
C.J. Mosley, Kwon Alexander, and Anthony Barr got big-time deals to kick off free agency and there’s still a few quality players left on the market — especially for teams looking for run stoppers.
Others available: Stephone Anthony, Josh Bynes, Will Compton, Kyle Emanuel, L.J. Fort, Najee Goode, Mike Hull, Mychal Kendricks, Cameron Lynch, Kevin Minter, Mark Nzeocha, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Vincent Rey, Kelvin Sheppard, Nathan Stupar, Manti Te’o, Ramik Wilson
Cornerback
Signed: Robert Alford, Justin Coleman, Pierre Desir, Kareem Jackson, Kevin Johnson, Jason McCourty, Steven Nelson, Darryl Roberts, Bradley Roby, Eric Rowe, Buster Skrine, Blidi Wreh-Wilson Best Available: Ronald Darby, Darqueze Dennard, Jason Verrett
There weren’t many big name cornerbacks on the market this year, but there are still a few names that can help people. Teams looking for a quality cornerback that isn’t a world-beater, but still effective should be able to find some value in free agency.
Others available: Briean Boddy-Calhoun, Bashaud Breeland, Tramaine Brock, Morris Claiborne, E.J. Gaines, Phillip Gaines, Brent Grimes, Davon House, Nevin Lawson, Tony Lippett, Rashaan Melvin, Captain Munnerlyn, Brian Poole, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Orlando Scandrick, Sam Shields, B.W. Webb, Kayvon Webster, Shareece Wright
Safety
Signed: Adrian Amos, Chris Banjo, Antoine Bethea, Landon Collins, Tashaun Gipson, Colin Jones, LaMarcus Joyner, Tyrann Mathieu, Eric Reid, Earl Thomas, Kenny Vaccaro, Jaylen Watkins, Eric Weddle Best Available: Tre Boston, Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Johnathan Cyprien, Glover Quin, Jimmie Ward
Yet another strong year for the safety position, and this time, they didn’t wait around to get deals done. Big names like Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu made it to the open market, and quickly agreed to deals with their new teams. However, there is still some meat left on the bone at the position.
Others available: Mike Adams, Jahleel Addae, Kurt Coleman, Chris Conte, Clayton Geathers, Marcus Gilchrist, George Iloka, Kendrick Lewis, Mike Mitchell, Reggie Nelson, Ron Parker, Adrian Phillips, Curtis Riley, Andrew Sendejo, Darian Stewart

Defensive Tale of the Tape: Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals
Well last week’s game was unpleasant to watch for Cowboys fans. That leaves us with first of what we hope will be very few Tale of Tape editions coming off of a Cowboys’ loss this season. This week’s opponent is the Arizona Cardinals. Dallas has to come off of one of the worst losses in the Jason Garrett era and get right back on a pane this week for Arizona. This game represents the latest installment in what used to be an annual trip between division rivals. While the teams no longer occupy the same division, Arizona is both a place where there are a ton of Cowboys fans, and a place where the local team’s fans hold division foe-level animosity to the team with the Star on their helmet.
Let’s take a look at how these teams compare by position. We already discussed the Offensive side of the ball and now we’ll make a comparison of each team’s defense and special teams. You can check out Part 1 here.
Defensive Line
The Arizona Cardinals play a traditional 2-gap, 3-4 defense. They have big bodies up front that are hard to move. These guys normally do all the dirty work to let the linebackers make all the tackles and sacks. But don’t get too caught up in statistics. The Cardinals’ down linemen are good football players even if their contribution don’t show up on the stat sheet. They also spend a lot of time in their nickel and Robert Nkemdiche has finally started to show why he was such a high prospect in the 2016 draft. He was considered a top 10 talent but he fell to the end of the draft due to questions about his motor and discipline. He has the talent to be a true disruptor in the middle of the defensive line and his line mates are good at occupying blockers in the run game.
Demarcus “Tank” Lawrence is stacking great performances to begin the 2017 season. He is becoming someone for whom offenses will have to account. The Cowboys are hoping that Damontre Moore can come back off of his suspension and provide Lawrence some help from the opposite end to continue harassing quarterbacks. Maliek Collins is doing the dirty work on twists and stunts to help free up his teammates on the line to get pressures and sacks. He even got a statistical boost when the NFL gave him half a sack from week 1 that had been originally credited to Tank. Outside of these two, there hasn’t been any consistency in the rotation. Stephen Paea has been serviceable against the run but the rest of the team hasn’t been getting off blocks and disrupting the run game or the pass game like the team wants. With that being said, in week 2 this appears to be a very slight…

Advantage: Cowboys
Linebackers
Sean Lee was as bad in Denver as he was good in week one at home. Play after play he was either washed out by the blocker or simply missed the tackles. Lee is too good for that to be anything other than a temporary lapse and he should be expected to bounce back this week in Arizona. Jaylon Smith leads the team in tackles after two weeks but it is obvious that he is still working his way back to full speed. He will continue to get better as he gets more game speed reps and hopefully will continue to see improvement in his drop foot. As good as he’s been, if he is the best LB on the field then the Cowboys are in trouble. Lee has to step up like the captain he is, and lead this group to a much better performance in week three.
Like Denver last week, Arizona’s pass rush comes from their linebackers. Chandler Jones has picked right up this season and is a monster coming off the edge. They also have one of my favorites from the 2017 draft in Hassan Reddick. He is showing up all over the field and looks to be the real deal for the Cardinals. They also have a healthy Deone Buccanon as a rangy linebacker that can cover, blitz and hold up against the run. All in all this is…

Advantage: Cardinals
Defensive Backs
Patrick Peterson is one of the absolute best cornerbacks in the entire NFL. Unlike most of the other top CBs, he actual follows the opponent’s best receiver all over the field. This makes his job even harder, as he has to deal with slot formations, motions, and every other device an offense can concoct to free up their top target. He does all of this at the highest level. Arizona’s problem over the past couple of years is that they haven’t had anyone good enough to hold down the opposite corner, and offenses have simply played keep away with Peterson. There is some hope in the desert that Justin Bethel might be able to fix that. He is helped tremendously by having an outstanding safety duo backing him up. Tyrann Mathieu and Antoine Bethea are experienced, talented safeties and Peterson’s ability to shut down one side of the field allows them to help out in the run game.
Dallas took a ton of lumps with its brand new secondary in week two. They sorely missed Orlando Scandrick’s veteran leadership and more importantly his talent. He has practiced this week and is confident he will be able to play while his hand continues to heal. Nolan Carroll was a hot mess before getting his bell rung twice. That leaves him in the concussion protocol and his availability for the Monday night game up in the air. Rookie Chidobe Awuzie will probably miss this week as he aggravated the hamstring injury that kept him out most of the preseason. Anthony Brown keeps playing well but there is a great deal of uncertainty around him. The potential of Jourdan Lewis is there but this is a huge…
Sep 25, 2016; Orchard Park, NY, USA; Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson (21) intercepted a pass by the Buffalo Bills during the first half at New Era Field.
Advantage: Cardinals
Kicker/Punter
Dallas has the good fortune of employing Dan Bailey. He has been outstanding to begin the season and is definitely the best kicker in the NFC. Chris Jones and Bailey were two of the very few bright spots in the team’s week two defeat. They continue to give the Cowboys great consistency and high-level performance. That may not be something said a lot about a punter but he routinely pinned the Giants inside the 10 yard line and gave the Cowboys a huge field position advantage. Ryan Switzer flashed his ability on punt returns, and the hope is that he will continue to improve as his opportunities increase.
Andy Lee and Phil Dawson are both former Pro Bowlers and are still consistently good. Dawson doesn’t still have the distance he once did but he is accurate and dependable with the game on the line. The Cardinals have dealt with a ripple effect of David Johnson’s injury in that Kerwynn Williams was his primary back up but also their main kick & punt returner. They do have the luxury of rolling Pro Bowl returner Patrick Peterson out for punts when necessary so they should be able to navigate this without a problem. Bailey is better than Dawson, Jones and Lee are close at this point in their career but the possibility of Peterson on returns makes this a slight…
Advantage: Cardinals
