Android app development in Ghana  – The Android applications are made up of various components. Applications might consist of one or more of each of the four types of components. An application subset that may be operated independently of other applications is equivalent to a dynamic instance of a component. Android is frequently used for attributes that come directly from the Android SDK. App is frequently used if you use the support library.
An Android App is a piece of software that may be run on an Android device or emulator. The term “file” is frequently abbreviated as APK, which stands for Android package. This file is a Zip archive that contains the app’s resources, code, and metadata. Android apps can be developed in Kotlin, Java, or C++ and then run on a virtual machine. The official developer environment is Android Studio. As programmes are often delivered through app stores like the Google Play Store, it is possible to enable installation from an APK file or using a USB connection in the device settings. In the event that your Android smartphone is stolen or lost.
Foreground Services, Background Services, and Bound Services are the three types of Android services. Services in the foreground are those that users can see. Users may easily communicate with them and keep tabs on events. Even while consumers are utilising other programmes, these services continue to function. The user cannot see or access them because of the background. These are the tasks that the user does not need to be familiar with. Today we'll talk about how "machine intelligence" can be used in the mobile app development.
There are hundreds of thousands of apps in the App Store and Google Play app stores, and, oddly enough, most of them could be much more attractive and useful if the abilities of artificial intelligence applied to them. After all, in reality, if you do not dive too deeply into the predictions futurists, modern AI is nothing more than a well (or poorly) recognition algorithms trained and analysis. Musicplayer program while gaming

Musicplayer program while gaming android#
As more investments keep trickling into Africa’s gaming industries, these numbers are expected to explode over the next few years. Ghana and Nigeria emerged second and third, respectively, while Kenya and Ethiopia took fourth and fifth place in the continent. As the numbers continue soaring, the gaming industry is gradually threatening to overtake the music and movies market in the country. South Africa has 24 million gamers and took the lead as the largest video game market in Africa. South Africa takes the lead in the gaming industry in AfricaĬarry1st, a South African gaming platform, and Newzoo, a games analytics company, show that the number of gamers in sub-Saharan Africa in 2021 was a solid 186 million. Andrew Kaggia, the founder of Black Division Games, said he hopes to follow it with analogous games set in several other African cities. Being one of the few African-made 3D games, Nairobi X was a hot topic across the continent.
Musicplayer program while gaming android#
Still, they are mostly famous for the Android first-person shooter, Nairobi X. Kenyan studio Black Division Games created an African-themed Flappy Bird-style game locally known as KukuSama, which left the locals in a buzz. Still, the challenge arises when it comes to identifying the genre that the people in Africa are more interested in. There are numerous types of games, including strategy games, scenario-based games, and arcade games. Obi noted that the small dataset made it tricky to categorically choose the right direction, which often left them guessing. Monetization is not the only setback the local gaming companies face.ĭue to inadequate data, the biggest challenge lies in figuring out the local preferences and tastes. Developers ought to put their games on several stores and Google play alternatives like the Opera Mobile Store to empower this model. However, the resistance against in-app spending due to the extensive credit card fraud discourages most Africans from using their credit cards online. The subscription-based model demands that the player pays before accessing the game for a given period. Instead, most developers earn through subscriptions. Most people have access to cheap Chinese Android phones with limited storage capacity and processing, which can’t handle more than ten simple games and in-app purchases are not prevalent. Although smartphone owners are rapidly increasing, feature phones are still in the lead. He asserts that the mobile ecosystem in North America is balanced differently from that in Africa. Hugo Obi, the co-founder of Maliyo Games, stated that the Nigerian studio is gradually shifting from Facebook and web games to Android. The mobile ecosystem in Africa’s gaming industry While this platform is most valuable, it limits your access to gambling, a factor that gets many gamers searching for casino sites not on gamstop. Gamstop is a reputable platform that restricts and limits a gamer’s access, through self-execution, to an online gambling site promoting responsible gambling. While it’s sometimes fun to get lost in the thrill of video games, gamers ought to know their limits and, at some point, need restrictions from their gambling sites. Undoubtedly, the number of young gamers in Africa has dramatically increased over the past five years, which shows that the gaming industry is progressing upward. The rising popularity and availability of multi-functional gaming consoles are vital in expanding the market of video games on the continent. The development of smartphones has made it easier for gaming fans to play their favorite video games whenever with most assets, languages, and even characters, mirroring African aspects. Only a handful were privileged enough to enjoy these alien creations in the comfort of their homes. The young enthusiasts would use personal computers and consoles, foreign creations, to experience the thrill of their favorite games. Not long ago, internet cafes, cyber joints, and gaming were typical hangouts for African gamers.

Top 5 Must-Know Features Of Mobile App Design
Tumblr media
The design of mobile apps transforms the easy showing of the elements, numbers and the work of an algorithm to build an application for mobile devices. Mobile application developers are effective for meeting the needs of end-users and combining them to professional specifications. This allows the programmer to design and assemble applications that are pleasant to many people because they have the relevant features and functionality that meet most, if not all, user needs that are completely combined into an application.
And speaking of the features that a mobile application design should include during the mobile apps development phase, this article interests you in the heart of successful programming applications and lets you examine the top 5 features of mobile app design that you should know about.
Here are some features that each application should have. With that in mind, it's time to dive into it.
Social network icon(s) incorporated
Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram are part of the everyday lives of numbers of millions of people around the world. That's why Facebook alone has nearly 1.5 billion current users. It is hence very important that your application combines one or more common media icons. It is the de facto means of connection among different demographic groups in the digital age. And while you're there, also combine email sharing. This will give users the capability to use this article to share emails. You can do this for effective mobile application development tools created by mobile apps development companies.
Search feature added
Many developers do not simply determine the search input field in which their users can quickly enter text. Your app needs to add a search bar. This will promote user access to content. With this, you support your users to engage with your app and stay there. Besides, this will give your users a strong search experience in your mobile application. Your users will feel very good, which will create loyalty for your brand. But if you do not hold it in the development aspect of the mobile app, your users may not be able to find the solutions they need. This is very dangerous because they will go removed, which will result in a loss of growth rate in clicks.
Responsive design
You may know that active design is ideal for websites. But it's not just for a website, but mobile apps as well. With the active design, you can resize, display, hide and format a user interface for protection of different sizes and more.
But what is responsive design? In simple terms, this is the graphical interface that allows your websites and applications to adjust to different screen sizes. With it, you do not have to develop different websites and applications - one for desktops and different for mobile devices. You just need a responsively intended application.
From what has been written above, you can see that you need to create a sensitive application that will concurrently support desktops and mobile device users within an active mobile application development design. This option is much better because its design is more efficient and faster than choosing to create two applications individually.
More touch features
Currently, there are more than 8.98 billion mobile connections worldwide. And it is also interesting to know that between this large amount of users of these devices, a much higher percentage uses smartphones and other advanced digital devices utilizing impact screen technology. This certainly shows that your application can not play if other features of the touch screen are not combined into the application. Enjoy as much of the user experience as possible depending on the touch screen. Design the application at the development stage of your mobile application for minimum keyboard use.
Offline functionalities
The applications are not the website. For websites, you will require to compare to the Internet to access them. This should Nevermore be the case for your mobile applications which will constantly be downloaded and introduced on mobile devices. Allowing the app to work in the absence of internet connection gives additional support and convenience for all. Users will be able to obtain important contents of your application without comparing to the Internet.
If your app can not be used when users are offline, it indicates that the app is essentially useless, forcing many users to uninstall it and opt for better-built apps with offline features. However, if you have built an application and this feature is not involved, you must return to the mobile application development stage and repair it immediately. This will make your importance very natural, practical, useful and fun to use.
Conclusion:
Overall, the applications are intended to meet specific needs. And these needs will not be met if the relevant functions and features are not involved in the application. In addition to this, some features must be added for the applications to work optimally, which will improve its competitiveness. But that does not mean that the application has to be stuffed with all sorts of features. Most users do not like something that is unnecessarily complicated. It is therefore important to involve only the essential features, some of which are detailed above. More About Marlene:
Marlene Rosenberg has emerged as one of the most talented and multi-faceted bass players on the scene today. Her stylistic range encompasses everything from traditional Big Band to intimate experimental ensembles.
Rosenberg was featured on the recording of the Ed Thigpen Quartet entitled “Easy Flight.” Thigpen believes, “What makes Marlene special is her strength and depth of understanding of music. In a world of clones, she has managed to emerge as her own person with her own sound and feel… her time feel is steady and swings like mad.”
Rosenberg, who grew up in Illinois, began clarinet studies at the age of ten and took up the electric bass in high school, playing in the jazz band. She began acoustic bass in college at the University of Illinois, where she received the Smith Memorial Women’s Scholarship in 1977, and the University of Illinois Bass-Violas Scholarship two years in a row. Sim Shagaya’s uLesson African edtech startup raises $3.1M
Nigerian founder Sim Shagaya is back with a new startup —  uLesson — that has raised a $3.1 million seed round led by TLcom Capital.
The venture is integrating mobile platforms, SD cards, culture-specific curriculum and a network of tutors to bridge educational gaps for secondary school students in Nigeria and broader Africa.
Founded in 2019 by Shagaya — who also founded Nigerian e-commerce startup Konga and ad venture E-Motion — uLesson is headquartered in Lagos with a production studio in Jos.
The startup has been in development phase and plans to go to market in February 2020 in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Gambia — Shagaya told TechCrunch on a call.
“We’re targeting Anglophone West Africa…for a market of effectively 300 million people,” he said.
On product demand, Shagaya notes the priority placed on education across West African households vs. structural deficiencies — such as student teacher ratios as high as 1:70 in countries such as Nigeria.
“We have this massive gap…We’re adding more babies in this country nominally than all of Western Europe…Even if the [Nigerian] government was super efficient, it couldn’t catch up with the educational needs of the young people that are coming up,” Shagaya said.
To address this, uLesson will offer an app-based home education kit for students with an up-front yearly subscription price of around $70 and the option to pay as you go. The startup’s product pack will contain a dongle, SD card, and a set of headphones to connect to Android devices.
Curriculum on the uLesson program will include practice tests and tailored content around math, physics, chemistry, and biology. The venture has already created 3000 animated videos for core subjects, according to Shagaya.
To leverage high android mobile penetration in Africa — and minimize data-streaming costs — uLesson content and performance assessment will come via a combination of streaming and SD cards.
Parents and students can connect online temporarily to update the app and sync curriculum and results, while operating off-line for the bulk of lessons.
Shagaya likened the use of SD cards to the old Netflix model of sending and returning DVD’s by mail, prior to faster and more affordable internet service in the U.S.
The uLesson program will also package a human component. The startup plans to deploy a network of counselors in major distribution areas to instruct on how to use app and follow lesson plans.
uLesson is to be a supplement to secondary school education and a more affordable and effective alternative to private tutors, explained Shagaya.
After taking uLesson to market in Africa’s most populous nation — Nigeria — and other countries in the region, Shagaya and team plan to adapt the product for a future East Africa launch.
In both Nigeria and Kenya uLesson will face competition from existing ventures. Edtech in Africa doesn’t have as many companies (or as much VC funding) as leading startup sectors fintech and e-commerce, but there are a number of players.
Source: Briter Bridges
Nigeria has online edu startups, such as Tuteria. Feature phone based student learning company Eneza Education has scaled in Kenya and expanded to Ghana.
uLesson could count having Shagaya as CEO as one of its advantages in the edtech space. The venture marks the founder’s return to the startup scene after a hiatus. Shagaya earned a Harvard MBA and worked for Google before repatriating to Nigeria to found several digital companies.
His best known venture, Konga, went head to head with online retailer Jumia in pioneering e-commerce for Nigeria and Africa. Konga was sold in a distressed acquisition in 2018.
Shagaya successfully exited his digital advertising venture E-Motion this year, after it was purchased by Loatsad Promedia.
The Nigerian tech entrepreneur confirmed he’s redirected some of that windfall into uLesson’s $3.1 million seed-round.  As part of TLcom’s lead on the investment, partners Omobola Johnson and Ido Sum will join uLesson’s board, Sum confirmed to TechCrunch.
For his part, Sim Shagaya underscores the for-profit status of his new startup, while noting it carries greater meaning for him than past commercial endeavors.
“If you drill down to it all, all our problems in Africa are tied this problem of education…If we do this right, our impact will be huge. For me this is probably the most important work I’ll do,” he said.

Fintech startup Flutterwave has partnered with Visa to launch a consumer payment product for Africa called GetBarter.
The app based offering is aimed at facilitating personal and small merchant payments within countries and across Africa’s national borders. Existing Visa card holders can send and receive funds at home or internationally on GetBarter.
The product also lets non card-holders (those with accounts or mobile wallets on other platforms) create a virtual Visa card to link to the app.  A Visa spokesperson confirmed the product partnership.
GetBarter allows Flutterwave—which has scaled as a payment gateway for big companies through its Rave product—to pivot to African consumers and traders.
“Rave is B2B, this is more B2B2C since we’re reaching the consumers of our customers,” Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola—aka GB—told TechCrunch.
The app also creates a network for clients on multiple financial platforms, such as Kenyan mobile money service M-Pesa, to make transfers across payment products, national borders, and to shop online.
“The target market is pretty much everyone who has a payment need in Africa. That includes the entire customer base of M-Pesa, the entire bank customer base in Nigeria, mobile money and bank customers in Ghana—pretty much the entire continent,” Agboola said.
Flutterwave and Visa will focus on building a GetBarter user base across mobile money and bank clients in Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa, with plans to grow across the continent and reach those off the financial grid.
“In phase one we’ll pursue those who are banked. In phase-two we’ll continue toward those who are unbanked who will be able to use agents to work with GetBarter,” Agboola said.
Flutterwave and Visa will generate revenue through fees from financial institutions on cards created and on fees per transaction. A GetBarter charge for a payment in Nigeria is roughly 40 Naira, or 11 cents, according to Agboola.
With this week’s launch users can download the app for Apple and Android devices and for use on WhatsApp and USSD.
Founded in 2016, Flutterwave has positioned itself as a global B2B payments solutions platform for companies in Africa to pay other companies on the continent and abroad. It allows clients to tap its APIs and work with Flutterwave developers to customize payments applications. Existing customers include Uber, Facebook, Booking.com, and African e-commerce unicorn Jumia.com.
Flutterwave has processed 100 million transactions worth $2.6 billion since inception, according to company data.
The company has raised $20 million from investors including Greycroft, Green Visor Capital, Mastercard, and Visa.
In 2018, Flutterwave was one of several African fintech companies to announce significant VC investment and cross-border expansion—see Paga, Yoco, Cellulant, Mines.ie, and  Jumo.
Flutterwave added operations in Uganda in June and raised a $10 million Series A round in October that saw former Visa CEO Joe Saunders join its board of directors.
The company also plugged into ledger activity in 2018, becoming a payment processing partner to the Ripple and Stellar blockchain networks.
Flutterwave hasn’t yet released revenue or profitability info, according to CEO Olugbenga Agboola.
Headquartered in San Francisco, with its largest operations center in Nigeria, the startup plans to add operations centers to South Africa and Cameroon, which will also become new markets for GetBarter.

Google had to cancel its I/O 2020 keynote due to the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year. Like every other year, the Mountain View giant was expected to make a host of announcement including Android 11, Pixel 4A, Pixel 4A XL, Nest products and more. However, since the event stood cancelled, there was uncertainty about when Google will make these announcements. If it weren’t for the pandemic, Google would have released the Android 11 Beta 1 at the Google I/O event scheduled from May 12th to May 14th. Now, the search engine giant has shared a teaser video announcing an online event called “#Android 11: The Beta Launch Show.” As the name suggests, Google will announce Android 11 Beta 1 at the upcoming event. The company has shared the video embedded above on the official developer’s website. The online-only event will be held on June 3rd at 8.30pm IST. Dave Burke, VP of Engineering at Google will be hosting the event and announcing all new features of the Android 11. The event will be wrapped up with a post-show live Q&A, where questions from users around the world will be answered. Users can ask their questions using the #askandroid hashtag on Twitter. Since the Android 11 Beta 1 rollout has been pushed to June, Google has rolled out a fourth Developer’s Preview build of the Android 11 today to fill the gap. Usually, there are only three developer previews before the update moves to the Beta phase. The Beta 1 update that will rollout on June 3rd will include the final SDK and NDK APIs. Google will also start accepting Play Store submissions for apps targeting the new Android 11 with the Beta 1 build. . . . . #techies_page_google #techies_page_android11 #techies_page #techies #tech #technology #google #android #android11 #beta #developers #rollout #australia #austria #usa #canada #iceland #usa #uk #switzerland #spain #italy #europe #germany #france #argentina #ghana #westafrica #brasil https://www.instagram.com/p/B_5GbsWgHSE/?igshid=48z1485qk8bc

Original Post from Security Affairs Author: Pierluigi Paganini
Security researchers at Adaptive Mobile who discovered the SimJacker issue have published the list of countries where mobile operators use flawed SIM cards.
Exactly one month ago, researchers at AdaptiveMobile Security disclosed a critical vulnerability in SIM cards dubbed SimJacker that could be exploited by remote attackers to compromise targeted mobile phones and spy on victims just by sending an SMS.
The SimJacker vulnerability resides in the S@T (SIMalliance Toolbox) Browser dynamic SIM toolkit that is embedded in most SIM cards used by mobile operators in many countries. The experts discovered that that the exploitation of the vulnerability is independent of the model of phone used by the victim.
Now Adaptive Mobile published the list of countries where local mobile operators are using SIM cards affected by the Simjacker flaw, anyway the company did not name the impacted mobile phone carriers.
“This varies by country and region. From our analysis we could identify 61 Mobile Operators (excluding MVNOs) in the 29 countries that use this technology.” reads the report. “Based on public reported information the cumulative subscriber numbers of these S@T Browser-using Operators comes to ~861 million mobile connections (SIM cards).” “Not all SIM cards in the operator may use this technology. In discussions with a few operators in the LATAM region we were informed that the majority of SIM Cards (>90%) in their network had it.”
Below the full list of countries published by the experts:
Central America: Mexcio Guatemala Belize Dominican Republic El Salvador Honduras Panama Nicaragua Costa Rica
South America: Brazil Peru Colombia Ecuador Chile Argentina Uruguay Paraguay
Africa: Ivory Coast Ghana Benin Nigeria Cameroon
Europe: Italy Bulgaria Cyprus
Asia: Saudi Arabia Iraq Lebanon Palestine
The S@T Browser application is installed on multiple SIM cards, including eSIM, as part of SIM Tool Kit (STK), it enables the SIM card to initiate actions which can be used for various value-added services.
Since S@T Browser implements a series of STK instructions (i.e. send, call, launch browser, provide local data, run command, and send data) that can be executed by sending an SMS to the phone.
The Simjacker attack involves an SMS containing commands that instruct the SIM Card in the phone to ‘take over’ the phone.
The attacker could exploit the flaw to
Retrieve targeted device’ location and IMEI information,
Spread mis-information by sending fake messages on behalf of victims,
Perform premium-rate scams by dialing premium-rate numbers,
Spy on victims’ surroundings by instructing the device to call the attacker’s phone number,
Spread malware by forcing victim’s phone browser to open a malicious web page,
Perform denial of service attacks by disabling the SIM card, and
Retrieve other information like language, radio type, battery level, etc.
On October 3rd, the experts presented their research at VB2019 conference in London and they published a technical paper on the attack. The paper shows how the flaw is being exploited by threat actors and privides technical details on technologies used in the attacks.  report.
The experts explained that the attack is transparent to the users, the targets are not able to notice any anomaly.
Adaptive Mobile revealed that a private surveillance firm was aware of the zero-day flaw since at least two years and is actively exploiting the SimJacker vulnerability to spy on mobile users in several countries.
“Within the report we outline why we think it is a surveillance company that developed this exploit.” read a FAQs page published by the experts. “However, we have not named the specific company that we believe is responsible, as to do so, we would need to release some additional proof. That proof would also reveal specific methods and information that would impact our ability to protect subscribers.”
Experts also added that the vulnerability has been likely exploited by nation-state actors for targeted attacks on persons of interests.
After the flaw was publicly disclosed, the researchers at SRLabs developed an Android app, named SnoopSnitch, that can detect Simjacker-like attacks. The SnoopSnitch app only runs on rooted Android mobile phones with a Qualcomm chipset. SRLabs researchers also updated their SIMTester app to include Simjacker.
Experts at Adaptive Mobile also analyzed the impact of the recently disclosed WIBattack and explained that it impacts a smaller number of users compared with SimJacker. Experts estimated that only 8 operators in 7 countries are using SIM cards vulnerable to the attack.
“WIB is a propriety SIM card technology like S@T which reports show could also be exploited via ‘Simjacker-like’ attacks. However, it’s important to state that we haven’t seen any attacks involving WIB.” concludes the report. “The WIB technology itself seems less prevalent that the S@T Browser (see diagram below and section 7 of the report), and available publicly information doesn’t indicate that WIB has the same apparent oversight in recommended security level.”
The following graph shows the number of Vulnerable Countries & Operators for S@T Browser and WIB.
“This has important implications for all Mobile Operators if they wish to deal with attacks from threat actors like this in the future.” concludes the report.”It means that previous ways of relying on recommendations, with no operational investigation or research won’t be enough to protect the mobile network and its subscribers, and what’s worse, will give a false sense of security.”
