I imagine them to be a happy family in the modern AU where Fengxian and Lakan are married and Lahan and Maomao are their children. Fengxian would be strict but she very much dotes on her kids (just not as obviously as Lakan, but who can compare with Lakan).
I feel like Lakan would be a lawyer which would put his skills to use, whereas Fengxian would be an academic in mathematics, and of course they're both super good at xiangqi and go in different ways. (I'd like to think Fengxian taught Lahan a lot of maths when he was younger and that encouraged his love for the subject).

Jing yuan, blade, luocha and dan heng with s/o who has a scaramouche/wanderer inspired little brother and sometimes she asks them to accompany him (so he won't kill anyone lmfao) the s/o and the brother dynamic is like scara and nahida!! I imagine him and blade either getting along nicely or absolutely despising each other
-----♡
A/N: Hello, Anon! Thank you for the cute request! I absolutely love it!<33
Content: Fluff, established relationships, reader has a little brother, mentions/threats of violence, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!
((Not fully proofread))
-----♡
》Luocha
Tumblr media
Luocha didn't mind you bringing your brother along at first... until he began becoming a menace to him. He would never outright tell you, that he finds your brother a little annoying and instead just opts to ignoring him, whenever he becomes troubling.
He however also knows how much he means to you and therefore will do his best to try getting along with him. He finds your dynamic kind of adorable, as your brother at least spares you from most of his mean shenanigans.
Luocha will keep your brother out of trouble and will scold him when he gets too out of hand, whether your brother likes it or not. Eventually, he'll begin to maybe respect Luocha, but that's something he'll never admit.
-----♡
》Jing Yuan
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan is completely unaffected by your brother's mean words or actions and in fact finds it very entertaining. He'll just give him a lazy grin and tease him with his own words, until your brother gives up and leaves him alone.
Threats of violence or destruction also don't work, as he'll just ask him to duel him then. Once your brother inevitably loses, he'll just take him to play Xiangqi with him to calm him down. Jing Yuan isn't the one to brag and understands that your brother may just be a troubled brat. He'll eventually learn to respect the older man through that too.
Jing Yuan finds your dynamic with your little brother really adorable and will often comment on how much "nicer" he seems around you. And he better be, as Jing Yuan won't hesitate scolding him, if he ever dares insult you too much.
-----♡
》Blade
Tumblr media
Considering how similar they are, I'd say that they despise eachother because of it. They are both harsh and mean, something they often take out on eachother with poor you in the middle of their arguments. They won't ever see eye to eye and even completely refuse to.
With that said, they also argue over you specifically, mainly if the other was much harsher to you than usual. That ends up with threats of violence of all kind, which you have to nervously shut down before anyone gets really hurt.
But you also try making them get along for your sake at least, by making them spend time together training. This actually does seem to work, as they are impressed by eachothers abilities and begin to mutually respect eachother for their strengths... but that's something they'll never admit to eachother.
-----♡
》Dan Heng
Tumblr media
He's just... confused. Like, how are the both of you even related? The first time he met your little brother, he just deadpanned and walked away, deciding he was certainly not going to deal with that. Your little brother will get a similar reaction every time, until he begins to become less mean to him on your request.
After that, Dan Heng will attempt to get along with your brother in some ways, like showing him around the archive room or training with him, whenever he asks. He knows how important he is to you and therefore does his best to deal with him, despite his mean personality.
Though his patience actually pays off, when your brother starts respecting Dan Heng over time and seems to genuinely enjoy his company alot. He never says it outloud ofcourse, but you can tell that he does, whenever he asks you, if you're going to visit him again in an "annoyed" tone of voice.

A/N: I hope this was alright! Thank you again for the request!<33

Hikaru no Go Drama Impressions
Episode 3
Episode 3 sets up Shi Guang’s isolation from his classmates aside from his childhood friend. Also his aimlessness, which results in him acting out at school and not applying himself to his studies. You get the sense that he sees no point in any of it. Not until he gets yanked back into the world of go by Wu Di and the bullying from the xiangqi club, and then YU LIANG reappears which is yet another push for him to reenter that world, properly this time.
I watched this one in a rush so thoughts are gone from my head lol. Episode 4 under the read more bc I rambled big time.
Episode 4
The conversation Shi Guang has with Chu Ying underwater is the heart of the show. It’s true, he doesn’t start to learn it with the intention of making it his life’s goal or career, but he does have the curiosity and a desire to understand why it’s so important to multiple people in his life. And that makes it worth pursuing. It’s the first and only thing he has shown any interest in that connects him to other people, after all. His obsession with the model cars when he was younger was an isolated activity, even though it was popular, none of the other kids who liked it played with him.
Ah, I remember this part where they try to recruit the xiangqi guy to join them in the tournament! They changed his backstory a little, but the one that the adaptation gives for him quitting matches the character and it’s also reasonable. I have always liked this show because it does a realistic job of presenting where each player comes from and the reason they started playing and/or stopped. Anyways, He Jiajia grows on you, haha. He is definitely a tsuntsun. And Extra. He’s great once he stops being a bully (notice in the tournament tho, his asshole level scales according to his opponent lol; he’s rude to people rude to him, and maintains politeness if the other is not a jerk).
Also, I love Chu Ying’s commentary that NO ONE CAN HEAR BUT SHI GUANG. It’s hilarious. The comedy duo is back in action and I’m loving it.
btw Shi Guang is so chaotic?? He’s so high energy and all over the place while everyone is just Staring at him because they’re super tense and probably focused on winning. for now, Shi Guang’s just having fun! testing his (newfound) skills!
Their little ragtag team is so fun to watch. Looking at the plot progression, it makes sense to have this tournament part be more fun and humorous than the previous matches, which were so serious in tone. This is also developing the aspect of the show that says ‘it’s not all about winning’ bc for all that this game can get intensely competitive, the show really does NOT push that on its viewers and stays open minded about everyone’s reason for playing it differing from each other. This tournament sets helps set that up. As does a lot of other smaller parts of the show.
It’s coming back to me now, but I think when I watched the anime, this was when I realized it wasn’t going for the typical sports anime set up, which would usually feature heavy rivalries and underdog matches between the “established” schools/clubs and the MC’s team. The show clearly sets Yu Liang up to be Shi Guang’s rival, but Yu Liang doesn’t even want to go to high school and is less than enthused about contributing to its go club lol.
Though, he is certainly interested when he realizes SHI GUANG? MIGHT BE HERE? You can see him clearly getting his hopes up and then, BOOM instant laser focus!
Ah, yes, I am reminded of how oddly meditative the rhythm of the clicking of the timer and the stones hitting the board is...
So I haven’t been taking screenshots (I didn’t expect to love every moment of this show as much as I am lol), but I adore the smile on Yu Liang’s face when he sees Shi Guang and his team won!
Tumblr media
Look at that smile. It’s so wholesome.
And there are even wholesome hugs in the bathroom?? C’mon, this show is killing me.
AND HERE IT IS. Shi Guang deciding yes, this is something he wants to pursue for himself when he asks Chu Ying to accompany him.
Ah. “In a world without rivals, there is no divine move.” I’m surprised they came out with it immediately and stated this, but yes: a meeting of two great minds pushing each other to their limits and striving to better themselves.
Also, the ghost gets character development too! Chu Ying realizing that his goals shouldn’t be forced upon others, and him resolving to help Shi Guang reach his full potential.
I CAN’T BELIEVE YU LIANG. What is this ‘let me write my number on your hand’ business?? xD also, hilarious that it got smeared off later omg. im dying. dead. and yu liang literally waiting for his call?? omg. he’s not even brushing you off intentionally haha. these two can both be rather dense.

What’s it like to have a hobby in rural Japan?
I guess I have passed that anime/manga phase but I was definitely looking for another hobby that would be worthwhile and that is something I could share with many people... What did I end up with? Boardgames!!!
I remembered going to a lecture about teaching English through board games. I was so inspired by it that I actually started to build my own collection of board games and play them with the English club members in the high school I was working at 3 years ago. I hid any hint of Japanese in the games I share (i.e. Japanese rulebooks), then I print out English rulebooks which board gaming companies and sites like boardgamegeek.com has very abundant of.
Before getting into Modern Board Games which is the games I discovered, I was already a huge fan of classic board games like Chess, Checkers, Shogi (Japanese Chess), Xiangqi (Chinese Chess), Go, Othello. As I started out to be an abstract gamer, I ended up loving abstract strategy games that came out from Modern Board Gaming such as Hive.  When I was in university back in Toronto, I bought a Settlers of Catan set. Being an introvert myself, I thought it would be impossible for me to get the game on the table. I later got into Munchkin Fu which was a fun game.
But the lecture I attended in Japan introduced Love Letter, Hols der Geier, and soon after, I started watching YouTube shows such as Game Grumps’ Table Flip, Geek & Sundry’s Tabletop and eventually became a huge fan of Richard Ham a.k.a. Rahdo who does runthroughs of modern board games and The Dice Tower which taught me that board games have true potential for socializing, interaction and the universality of games. I am currently own around 300 games after the hobby went full throttle in late 2014. I got Carcassonne, Pandemic, The Duke and Dixit. Then I got some games for younger players like Ghost Blitz, Botswana and Incan Gold. It was a great opportunity for me to learn more about my Japanese friends who isn’t competitive only in physical endeavors but also in social gaming. I learn how my friends and my students behave in a casual board game where the experience of the game and the interactions among each other outweighs the idea of winning or losing.
The games in the photos are some of which I played this past week: Mysterium, Onitama, Goda Cheese (Get The Cheese), Sushi Go! and The Duke.
For your reference, my favorite board game designers are Shadi Torbey (Onirim, Sylvion, Castellion, Nautilion), Bruno Cathala (7 Wonders: Duel, Mr. Jack Pocket, Kingdomino), Reiner Knizia (Botswana, Lost Cities, Keltis, The Quest for El Dorado, Modern Art), Matt Leacock (Pandemic), Stefan Feld (The Castles of Burgundy, Trajan, Notre Dame, La Isla), Rudiger Dorn (Las Vegas, Istanbul), Phil Walker-Harding (Sushi Go, Cacao), Uwe Rosenberg (Bohnanza, Patchwork, Glass Road, Agricola), Jun Sasaki (Deep Sea Adventure, Rights, Startups, Kobayakawa, A Fake Artist Goes to New York) and Seiji Kanai (Love Letter, Mai-Star, Say Bye to the Villains, Eight Epics)
