the thing is. empathizing with the doodler is the hard choice. it's risky. who knows what it'll actually do, and who can you trust? normal or the two adults who very much want to beat this thing with violence? and tbh I think they're doing so well at playing teenagers in this regard? literally a few episodes ago it was all "fuck adults we don't need adults" but they've tried to do this normal's way before and things only got worse!

but we the audience know that they do not and that's the concept of choosing empathy over violence, ending generational trauma instead of continuing the cycle, letting the doodler - an entity so starved for love and yet completely unable to obtain it - go free instead of potentially endangering other worlds (with the kiddads plan) or letting willy have it... it's the entire moral of the podcast. and that's why normal is right about what they should be doing, even if he's doing a horrible job at it. and while I don't think it's gonna be a clear-cut "good" option, I think it'll have better long lasting effects than continuing the circle of violence. that's all thank you for your time

WELCOME, Folks!!! to my Cyber Punk Nursing home Dndads Pitch!!!

DNDADS PRIDE

So the idea is that Grandkid's (Scary, Link, Normal, Taylor) Grandkids (shown above) are the playable characters, but there are all seniors who have been placed in a Long Term Care Facility (a better name for "nursing homes" btw). But the world has progressed enough that things are cyberpunk!

maybe all of the PCs loved one's all stop showing up on the same visit day. The PCs combine their efforts to try to find out why, and then they run into a big mystery or conspiracy through that.

themes that could be in season 3 just because we set it in a care facility and have senior Characters.

humanizing people over 50, [Please please please, we've done it to the middle aged, we sexualized the heck outta those dads. ive seen what people have done with Omega Daddies in certain circles (my circles) we have the Power to let retired people be more than a punchline. i want something to look forward to in my older years! let them be silly complex sexual full people PLEASE!!!]

community building!!! alot of care facilities in my area Have social and communal activities they do because their residents get together and demand/them. groups -just like the one ive drawn- get together, out of boredom and loneliness (often people who have better mobility and memory) and then make it their job to work with staff and people who have a harder time advocating for them selves. to make sure social needs and wants are being fulfilled. and now that we have (what i perceive to be) a younger audience. it would be great to show them how that sort of work is done and how it can make a big change to quality of life. [the 3rd character (who i designed for Will) seemed like the type to start one of these groups. just look at her with that big purse and cool jacket. thats a move maker folks!]

the way that older/disabled people are often overlooked, and therefore people often forget to keep secrets away from them. [the second character (i designed for Matt) i wanted him to look as unassuming as possible, for this exact reason]

Interesting Villains and Problems that aren't often shown because people font write about older folks.

an exploration on how technology can help people (and how corporations will make people have to pay for medically necessary things)

the way nurses and care staff can be very helpful and empathetic. and how others are assholes who are at best just here for a paycheck, and at worse actively hurting people for amusement.

Elderly abuse, not just actively hitting people. there are countless examples of people taking advantage of people who are disenfranchised (like an older people or people with disabilities). often we see and talk about financial abuse. [my idea of the first character (hopefully played by Freddie), was someone who seemed oblivious to a deadbeat family member using them for money maybe because of a memory issue. (potentially there could be a twist about the PC knowing the whole time, and deciding to go along because they think its funny that their kid has to sit threw a marathon of daytime television to get 50$ a week instead of just outright asking for a lump sum)]

first of all, hermie :(( THE INTRO??? JUST EUGH I WAS TRYING NOT TO CRY IN PUBLIC- the hand holding part? im just...god, anthony burch why would you do this to me

then theres linc helping norm carry the body, just accepting that thats what he needed then...god, and scary was so soft with normal this episode about everything the feelings were biggg, normal trying to do the spell with the coins- just ugh

(then theres the twins hotwiring a car together in perfect sync? i just love the two of them sm so i loved that detail, the fact anthony outright says that they move as one force too, just- god their twin codependency makes me ill)

them traveling to what im assuming (lot of context clues) is the remains of oakvale....the old man being barry?? im so happy will remembered that henrys an elf with his aging thing too, the fact he runs a refugee camp on old earth?? im in love with that, and just how they went with his character, it makes me so sad tho... mercedes :(( pls im in shambles

marloakworthy.......... my beloved ............... a part of the reason why I love them so much is because I feel like they kind of complete or make up for each other's qualities if that makes sense . Or like they fill in the weaknesses of the individual pairings? Which is why I love them TOGETHER.

LIKE I LOVE OAKWORTHY but there's always been this inherent problem where Normal is obsessive because he's desperate for affection and Hermie is flighty because he's afraid of commitment and vulnerability. And I looked at that and went THE SOLUTION IS POLYMORY. Because if Normal has a consistent and stable relationship he can fall back on than he wouldn't be as intense with Hermie and therefore Hermie wouldn't feel as trapped and could open up more. I think Hermie is very afraid of just how much Normal loves them because he cannot reciprocate to the same degree and it makes him feel guilty trying to do romantic scene partner stuff because it feels like leading Normal on for feelings that they won't ever have in reality.

ENTER SCARY !!!! I think Hermie and Scary DO have good chemistry their relationship would be a lot more loose and casual which makes it fun! It's like they're both really good actors and so it's fun for them to do more of Hermie's scene partner stuff and having a safe space for Hermie to act and play around with roles is good for him I think he needs it for enrichment JABEVAHAHA while with Normal Hermie would feel some pressure to Just Be Himself despite not knowing what that is. SOMETHING HE CAN RELATE TO WITH SCARY! I think the two of them can really connect on the whole. Lying about who you are so much that the mask BECOMES you and you lose track of whats real and not. I think it's really interesting to compare their identity struggles and they can give each other a certain perspective that Normal wouldn't totally understand. Scary and Hermie are both very cynical people and even though they try to be better and more soft and comforting it is not entirely natural and they're learning as they go and sometimes its nice to have someone around who's also really imperfect and learning beside you.

AND NORMAL. MY SWEET PRECIOUS BOY EIEBWFAHAHAHHA. I think he brings a lot of light to the two of them. Like I said they're both very cynical so while it's nice to have someone to relate it's also easy to get trapped in a downward spiral feedback loop. NORMAL THOUGH. He's the one who pulls them out of it. He's the kind of person who loves with all his heart and his earnest and steady affection is just very comforting to people like Scary and Hermie who are used to people leaving. Norm and Scary just Get each other due to them being foils and thematic parallels JWBEGAHHAHA I think out of all the individual pairs normscary is the most stable. I FEEL LIKE I DONT EVEN HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT? The way they understand each other and can support each other . It's just kind of inherent to their characters and their dynamic. But I think Scary can be afraid that she's going to push Normal away or make him leave and so that can lead to stuff like her not pursuing or being vocal about her affection or swinging hard the opposite way and panicking purposely shoving him away because it hurts less when she chooses it. Thats what its like. Hermie is there as a third person another perspective to be like HEY. YOU GUYS ARE BEING DUMB.

I really see marloakworthy as more like. Normscary is the steadyfast main romantic relationship while Hermie comes and goes but these two are his favorite people.

I'm a known polywagon enjoyer and while I DO love all the other inner dynamics within polywagon I think marloakworthy has my favorite parts boiled down. Which is why it's my favorite dndads ship atm!

DnDads Halloween Week 2k23

Day 3: Visiting a farm

Didn’t get anything written for today and I won’t have time tomorrow because I’m working but I wanted to share what my idea was for this prompt. It’s kinda vague, and I might get to it one day, but I was a little too ambitious I think to be able to do it justice. Also, it’s not necessarily Halloween themed, but hey prompts is prompts, and this is the idea this one prompted for me!

Okay. So. Grant visits his Auntie Casey’s home/brewery with his parents. Fun fact about Casey is I headcanon her as a polyamorous lesbian with two wives…one of whom is Meredith Blake from the Parent Trap (feel free to ask me questions about this it’s so real to me that sometimes I forget it’s actually objectively a really weird crossover ahaha). Carol has a massive crush on Meredith but doesn’t realise thats why it is cause she’s not aware of her own attraction to women yet, but when the Wilsons visit them Carol hangs off her every word and Meredith thrives on the attention. Their other wife is an OC called Catie who I also love. Less to say about her atm (except that she’s a very quiet, gentle and kind woman) cause I don’t want to spoil things but I may include her in other fics in the future!

Anyway, when they arrive Carol and Meredith instantly slip away to drink wine together and gossip, and Catie, who was raised Catholic and really gets on well with Darryl because of this shared background, starts chatting to him about everything and anything.

Grant heads off to the family room to play games, and Casey comes in after a little while to see how he’s doing. He’s officially come out to his family in the few months since he’s last seen her in person, so they have a nice heart to heart about being queer.

And yeah! That’s my idea! Wish I’d had the time and working technology to get it all written but oh well shit happens!
