guys. i could say that im very normal abt the update. but that would be a lie. and lying is bad. yeah. im nothing close to normal abt this whole thing im deranged.

theres so many details here.

Time seems to be more calm, the last update he was at the verge of screaming (to shut them all? to call for help to control all these links? who knows) now he looks very thoughtful, taking in every detail of the whole place to see if he can get some sort of puzzle solved

This question i feel like it has more impact that it looks at first, a lot of people are pointing out the little owl friend we saw at the first doodles of the AU, yeah the owl in oot was a yapper in all rule, but he was some sort of guidance during his journey

Twilight connects the owls to Shad, a guy who has a lot of knowledge and can help him at any moment if he needs some sort of information, Four remembers the owl that helped the colors during his second adventure, and Legend connects the owls to the statues in Koholint, together with the owl that gave him hints to where he had to go

Here it is made clear the point that i was talking before: Time recognizes that even if, for a kid, it was just an anoying bird, he helped him in some sort of way, and he should appreciated that small detail

putting that joke aside, Hyrule seems to be more careful inside a dungeon, sure he can try and explore all he wants outside, but he knows very well the dangers of a dungeon, and he would like to no take any risk that could put them in danger while he can help it

I love the continuity of the comic, we all knew these were the same statues as the one that Twi used to separate them from Sky, but seeing it being portrayed in the comic is a detail that i think we all appreciate

Twilight my guy you cant go and look all that innocent we know your tricks

also Sky still remembers that time, seeing Legend as a bunny will not be easily forgotten. And Legends knows it

here i have things to say, it makes sense that the antifairy goes first for Legend, he's like. one of the most magic-based of them. Sure maybe Hyrule is our special wizard guy, but the vet uses a shit ton of magic weapons, he has to have a crazy amount of magic with him adding the rings he has

Also them all ready to defend their vet, yeah it might not be fully dangerous, but they will show no mercy to whatever dares to hurt one of them (a silent promise that they all made with the Twilight situation)

Time's attention is instantly gained with the mention of a Fairy, he doesn't sees too much of his friends in that thing, and that gives him a bad feeling of why the name

i could easily do a well thought comment on how he's magical girl material but i think with only that description enough was said

Only with the thought of one of his fairy friends having such destiny makes Time be disgusted, a Fairy turned into an enemy? Doesn't sound right, it isn't natural and just cruel for the poor fairy

also Wind was ready to catch her, he knows how valuable are fairies during a dungeon, you never know when you will need her help

Warriors during his adventure he made friends with the fairies, so he obviously will have something for her

he's like a mom who knows her children very well and will carry any treats for them, not beating up the mom/aunt of the group allegations

and Wind give the poor fairy some time before entering the bottle, she must be confused :(

I've been staring at this card a while and wondering why it was an instant buy, despite having no real attachment to said character and it occurred to me that the TCG does a really crummy job on the alt arts of Tamers. The appeal of this card is not the effect or the character but how personal it is, Violet feels like an actual character!

It is probably why these Tamer alt sets did so well, no they aren't as personal as the one above but they are at least reflective of the character and their story. The TAMERS tamer alts to this day are still some of my faves!

And while it does feel like they have been putting a bit more effort in more recent sets, it still isn't very personal, even if it is a stark upgrade from this.

Most Tamer alts are fine, they are ok and ultimately that's it, it's all you can say about them.

So, in brief, what do I mean; basically, it isn't like the Tamers have personalities of their own or things associated with them!

I have examples! This post is already pretty long but I could likely think up ideas for all our main Tamers but for now, I'll keep it at one per show.

With all the asks from 👾 I've been thoroughly inspired to write something for Hyrule in the House Husband AU because it now just lives rent free in my head AKSNNXKS (these asks were the inspiration)

The chain are in my house now which is just lovely, and while it's good to see that they're still safe. it's concerning that they were so focused on finding me that they'd abandon Hyrule for their search. Did they even see if there was a way for them to go back… or do they not care?

But if how Sage's body has reacted to being in this world for so long is anything to go off of?

Then some of the chain might need some time to adap-

"Hyrule!?"

No, no, no. Please let him be alright, he's part fae, of course, he wouldn't handle the lack of magic well. But I didn't think he'd faint on the spot!

"[name]? What's going on!? What happened to the traveller?"

"I'll explain later, just.. help me get him into my bed."

Where do we even begin, Sage doesn't have it this bad and there are no documented cases of magic withdrawal to look at. Would the best thing to do right now be to get him comfortable and keep him stable?

He’s still breathing, even though it’s worryingly shallow and his skin impossibly clammy. He’ll live though.

He has to.

“[Name] please. We all just wanted to see you, we didn’t - we didn’t think anything bad would happen.”

“Wind… It’s not your fault, Rulie’s going to be fine. I’m sure of it. We’ve got to stay strong for him alright?”

Rulie’s almost in my bed to rest now, if we can just get him comfortable then we can deal with the rest of this as it comes. Maybe I should ask…

“Sage, would you mind making some soup while I get Rulie stable? He'll probably need something thin for when he wakes up. Oh come on, you don’t need to pull that face love.”

Calling him that seems to have gotten him to show a little care for the others, even if it's just to get me to call him more pet names. Although the rest of the chain didn’t seem to like me calling Sage that, there are more important things to deal with right now.

Like getting Hyrule to wake up, if he stays unconscious for too long the only option would be to call the hospital, but that isn’t even a safe option because none of the chain has any ID which would cause a few issues, to say the least.

Starting with lowering his fever is a good idea, there should be something around here I could use. There’s a flannel I can dampen in the bathroom somewhere.

“Guys can you stay here with Hyrule and make sure he doesn’t get any worse while I go and get something to cool him down.”

“You’ve still not said what’s happened to him. Do you know what’s happening?”

“I have a hunch. Nothing certain, but we really need to focus right now. I promise you I’ll explain in a moment, Sky.”

Shoving past where they've all gathered in my room wasn't the easiest thing, but the adrenaline from all of this seems to be giving me an edge over the rest of the heroes, because I know if I didn't have that it should have been near impossible to do. 

Coming back with a damp towel; laying it on Hyrule; his breathing becoming more steady, making now the perfect time to explain to the chain what’s most likely happening to him. Now I’ve just got to hope that I can think of how best to explain what might be going on.

“You all want to know why Rulie’s like this? It’s a little hard to explain and I’m not even sure if it's right but I’ll try my best to explain.”

No response. They are looking at me with a lot of concern though, more than that as well but it seems their concern for one of their brothers is outweighing whatever else they want to tell me right now. Guess the best action would be to explain what I can then try to answer any questions they might have.

“You probably noticed Sage’s ears right? Something similar has been happening with him, we guessed it’s most likely due to the fact that there’s no magic in this world. Something to do with that seems to change Hylian or magical features to make them fit would be the best way to put it. Hyrule’s part fae, so the lack of magic impacted him far more as well as far faster than it did with sage.”

“... you’re saying that something like this is going to happen to all of us? That we’re going to lose our magic if we stay here?”

I don’t know if I’m simply hearing things or not but Legend sounded like he was weighing that up as an option. I know they were somewhat desperate to be with me seeing as they’ve gone through all of this to be here but to throw away part of themselves like this? Sage didn’t have a choice to be brought here.

Would he have chosen it if he had the chance? How they’re all acting, like this doesn’t seem world-ending to them, like they aren’t sacrificing everything they've ever known. I think he would have decided this in a heartbeat now.

“It seems like that. Unless you have a way back to Hyrule then I think it’s almost certain to happen.”

Rulie looks to be stirring a bit now giving me an excuse to step away from why the chain are acting so concerning; instead focusing on him as he wakes. Gently taking his hand in my own the only real thing we can do is wait for him to get up and then figure out how bad everything is. However long that may take, I’ll make sure to stay here by his side.

He doesn’t need to wake up alone with everything else he’s going through.

Trinkets. Might give you little things like hand warmers or gloves or fuzzy socks or even his hat in a pinch, just to keep your hands and feet warm (let it be known his hat is only for your hands. Feet gross him out, I don't make the rules)

And when he finally understands what anemia really is, he's momming you into eating properly. He's a mom friend, the mom in the relationship, you've called him mom before literally just to fuck with him.

"You're fucking eating it even if I have to pin you down and shovel it in your face because I fucking will" (I personally headcanon that he has the mouth of a sailor. It just fits)

(Heads up, this post has a bunch of grammatical errors because I wrote it at 2am)

When Aurora woke up from her slumber, Dawn offered to abdicate the throne so that Aurora could rule but she immediately turned it down. She was never meant to be a ruler, from the beginning that was her brother's thing. Instead, Aurora is curious about the world around her! She wants to explore and make the best of her current situation. Sure, she lost everyone and everything that she had ever known but she wants to look to the bright side (as bright as her situation can be..) and explore. She wants to meet new people and help out with reconstructing the kingdom from the outside. Sure.. Her insistence to help people has caused a bit of mistrust before but all of that has been resolved.

She is also very creative with words, often creating some very interesting nicknames for her loved ones such as her beloved Prince Tomcat, Link! Another thing she's quite talented at is magic! As a descendant of Hylia and her hero, she's always had the trademark prophetic dreams and sacred power. Even though her father had insisted that she doesn't have to train those powers of hers, she insisted that it would be good to train them and that eventually lead to her playing around with other spells such as Nayru's Love, Din's Fire and Farore's Wind.

Aurora also loves meeting new people, easily worming her way into people's heart in a second. Even the people in this dark stage of the kingdom felt themselves warm up to the curious princess.

Aurora is optimistic often to a fault. The most prominent example of this would be when she fell asleep. She had thought that her brother would listen to reason that fateful day, she told herself that her brother was simply stressed because of his new found duties as a king. She had been so caught up in her own thoughts that she didn't realise that the fuse was going off right under her nose and that eventually resulted in her curse, resulted in losing everything and everyone she ever loved. It's okay though, because she has her new things in the current era! She has friends like Link and Dawn and new places to explore and new places to see now! It'll all be okay if she thinks to the future!

Alright, that wraps up Aurora's mentality in the aftermath of Zelda II! She's curious, creative and optimistic but her wishes to simply look on the bright side will occasionally cause her to get burned. She may not be ready to admit it but she was traumatised by what had happend to her and I wanted to explore that as well as her shift between the two ages. She went from a happy and bright kingdom to a somber and just beginning to recover kingdom.

Now, I'm going to explore her relationships with Rulie and Dawn a bit.

So, as I said earlier, Aurora wants to explore the world that she's woken up to and thus she and Rulie began to travel together! They support each other through many things. Sometimes Aurora can't uphold her optimism anymore, her burns will flare up and she'll break. Rulie will be the hope to soothe those burns and smooth over the cracks. Sometimes Rulie's self doubt will get him down and Aurora's optimism will help him stand up again. Aurora's curiosity will leave her teetering over an abyss of darkness with a piece of knowledge that makes her think that she deserves to be sucked up by the darkness and Rulie will help her realise that no, you don't deserve to be sucked up by the darkness! They trust each other. Again, they uplift and support each other no matter what! The two are also some pretty big chaos gremlins. Remember, they're both a Link and a Zelda. They've got chaos built into their genes. They've definitely accidentally burnt a tree before with their fire spells (they thankfully didn't cause a huge fire because because Aurora Nayru's loved it until the fire went out).

Aurora's relationship with Dawn is akin to 2 sisters. Aurora is willing to let out her problems to Dawn and Dawn shares some of her own as well! They both often look out for each other and make sure that the other is okay! If one isn't ready to share a problem then they'll assure them that jf they need help they'll always he there. They're both daughters of the royale bloodline and they understand the pressures of being in that role. Dawn is also a little protective of Aurora as well as Rulie. These two are the only people she's truly opened up to other then Impa, she trusts and loves them with her whole being so if anybody dared to hurt them then *cracks knuckles* you best believe your about to be throwing hands with the queen of Hyrule! Same thing with Aurora, harm Prince Tomcat or Madame "broke the triforce and sprend them across dungeons at 11 hears old" and you best believe that you're gonna get burned like that one tree! All in all, Dawn and Aurora are sisters through and through! Dawn is also the braincell sibling between the two. She is GENUINELY the definition of the tired older with her energetic little sister. Madame "broke the triforce and his the pieces throughout dungeons" can't really talk though, now can she? Lol, I feel like you can tell I have siblings from this.

I UNDERSTAND THE ASSIGNMENT. I UNDERSTAND THE LOVE WE HAVE DESPITE HOW TIRED WE CAN GET OF EACH OTHER! SIBLINGS RISE!!!!!!!

Y’know what? Fuck it, let’s go through the boys and see who else has weird instinct.

Time could be the similar to fairy instinct Hyrule, although on a much lesser extent.

Like, he doesn’t actually have fairy blood, and Time is probably way less impulsive, but I can totally imagine, sometime after he remembers, Player will sometimes do or say something that makes him clench his fists so that he doesn’t make a grab for them. Maybe his time spent in the fae filled forest had some sort of impact on him.

Not including all of his mask forms because there are too many and I don’t think they’d leave a permanent mark like years spent in a magical forest did (well, except fierce deity, who quite literally left a mark)

From what I know Legend’s got two. He’s got his bunny form, and his mermaid form!

I can imagine parts of his anxiety and distrust has to do with his soft bun bun form, but maybe knowing that Player is safe calms him when he’s in their presence. I can also imagine him just rubbing into their sides, like he just can’t get enough of their warmth!

I personally don’t imagine mermaid’s to be these angelic beings that can do no harm and are perfect, sweet angels (if you’ve seen my corrupted Legend art, you’d know). It’s much more of a predator prey relationship, except the predator is smitten for the prey and the prey isn’t even prey, they’re just this person who absolutely must be cuddled with.

Four’s a little guy! Except more little, and mousy! Unfortunately, I don’t know much about the minish, so if you or anyone else have any ideas that’s be great.

And we’ve already talked about Rulie and Twilight.

I got a random headache while writing this and now I want to die.

NO BECAUSE I LOVE THIS SO FUCKING MUCH BB YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

Don't care if he's not really a fairy- Fairy instinct! Time in we trust! He's more mischievous in a subtle way tho? Leading Player away to hang and relax while the rest of the Chain panic about their missing comrades, Time in that moment thinks its hilarious but once he's snapped back he's embarrassed about letting his instincts take over.

Bunny! Legend just clingy fr- flops onto Player constantly, snuggling up next to them in their sleep mat and having to always hold their hand (while saying that he doesn't even need them all that much)

I also agree with Mermaids being more feral than how they're depicted in media (tho it does change, as we've got sirens too so it just jumps between the two) Feel Mermaid! Legend would get Player some water jewelry so they can just chill in the water without being disturbed and would hiss at anyone who tries to ruin their time together

I don't know about the minish but I will say I feel Minish! Four likes to make nests and he and Player would be cuddling within it. Maybe he's a little skittish so there's a lot of hiding and such?

its time for ghost game episode 11 thoughts dump! spoilers below ofc. big focus on ruli and angoramon's dynamic this week to nobody's surprise ever

so first off, don't take this week's meme completely seriously dgvhjdfj i actually am not disappointed with this episode at all! of course i'm kinda bummed we're several months in and haven't seen all the evolutions yet, but taking a step back and looking at it from a narrative standpoint, it sort of makes sense these two specifically wouldn't have managed it yet at least. ruli's interpersonal relationship with angoramon clearly isn't quite as developed as it could be yet, and while this episode was focused very strongly on it and they came on in leaps and bounds, i can kinda see that having them magically sort everything and become super great partners in just the span of 20 minutes would be... eh.

especially with the nature of their conflict becoming clear- angoramon has other things going on in his life and strikes me as a somewhat private person who doesn't always feel the need to explain himself, while ruli is very much a social butterfly who is used to sharing things and sees keeping secrets from each other as a sign of distrust. it's about boundaries! they're very different types of people, which in some ways is a good thing for their friendship on a surface level, but it does mean they're going to need to put in work and effort to get to know how each other really ticks and that's becoming increasingly obvious even to the both of them by the end of the episode. last week in my predictions i spoke a bit about how their dynamic is super comfortable around each other, just not close yet- i think that still stood at the start of this episode. ruli got worried about angoramon "acting off" because she's become so used to his presence as it was that she didn't really know him as well as she probably thought she did; meanwhile angoramon didn't even realise that she noticed, nor that he could have done anything "wrong". and he didn't! it's just in both of their natures to act as they did and it ended up causing friction. it was bound to happen eventually and i'm glad it resolved itself as well as it did; the whole episode worked really nicely in my opinion, everything i hoped for and more with regards to their characters.

the more i think about it the less i think an all-out evolution as an expression of bond would've fit well in this episode, in fact it could've even been read as a bit of a cop-out. the conclusion here is one of resolving to do better, not a statement that things are magically better just like that. to compare with last episode and teslajellymon, at risk of sounding like a broken record- kiyoshiro and jellymon have been almost proactive in their development as a duo, butting heads and never quite being complacent in each others' presence, and as a consequence they're actually as close as anything. they know each other and what makes each other tick so well that they were able to achieve evolution, even if they still clash on occasion. and while at a glance it might seem like ruli and angoramon are more "settled" in their dynamic, in truth they haven't actually explored their dynamic much at all. ruli is headstrong, sociable and the clear "leader" of the two, while angoramon has established himself as the follower who goes along with things and just keeps her safe. ruli's clearly gotten used to that, which is why any perceived deviation from that norm put her on edge. at this point the reason why they aren't capable of evolution yet, or why just this episode's events couldn't magically improve everything, is kind of evident- but they're well on their way, and this was the wake-up call i think both of them sorely needed. i'm really hoping they keep up this good exploration of character in the episodes to come, it's got me on the edge of my seat a little if you couldn't tell gfhhfv

now because i feel like i should definitely talk about something else: reppamon! I really like reppamon just in general, and their role as a "villain" this episode really interested me. i really liked how in attempting to explain and resolve their problem, both ruli and angoramon managed to come to a better understanding of their own issues; being able to combine dealing with the monster of the week AND personal problems in essentially the same breath worked really nicely i think. ruli's final spiel about needing to talk a lot and learning to respect each other through that is really what convinces me she's going to try and take her own advice. reppamon's tail being sentient and its own being was also something i never noticed before and having it brought up was pretty cool! and can we talk about that fight scene (between angoramon and reppamon, before kausgammamon showed up) for a moment because the animation quality spiked HARD, i rewatched it like 5 times while trying to write this.. it's been a while since angoramon actually fought one-on-one and got seriously physical with an opponent (possibly even since his introduction?? if i'm remembering right) so seeing him finally get some action again is a breath of fresh air. hell it really does feel like he's just spent the past 8 episodes just standing around when you compare it to this, i couldn't be more glad about it in general

kausgammamon showing up again was neat also! I'm less focused on it than other things this episode for sure (hell, i'm pretty sure the whole thing would've turned out almost exactly the same if hiro and gammamon hadn't been in it at all oop) but the fact they can sort of pick-and-choose which of the three evolutions for gammamon depending on scenario gives me some hope they'll end up using all three a fair amount. i know it's most likely that betel will remain the "standard" path but it's nice to see the other evolutions coming out for situations that aren't exclusively super specific and gimmicky. i'd say i'm disappointed we didn't get much of jellymon and kiyoshiro this episode, but this really was ruli's time to shine and hiro gets main-character-pass so it's pretty understandable! the whole 'no phones' thing was kinda funny talk about bad timing... also i really desperately want to see what jellymon does with her new camera i'm literally begging them to not leave that as a throwaway gag

that'ssss about all i have for this round, but next episode predictions? i really don't have that many right now, but i think it's more likely going to be some kind of filler compared to the past 2 weeks, the teaser seems pretty general to me. would be nice getting the gang all in one place again at least. if we're getting any new evolutions at all i'd put money on wezengammamon first; i think the metaphorical dust will settle a bit before we get symbareangoramon after what we saw this episode. hordes of zassoumon seem pretty intimidating, and if they really do spread and multiply through chain mail it'd be interesting to see how digimon and technology intersect in a little more detail, so i guess i'm hoping for a deeper look into that most of all here!

OH BOY HERE WE GO SO (WARNING: LONG)

This is sorta a strange AU in that it doesn't have the Hero's Cycle or Ganon or even possibly the Triforce as a real thing??? Possibly might end up more generic but i hopefully made up for it with All The Stuff Happening

So! We have Legend, who's a warlock that lives in a lil hobbit hole in the woods and generally doesn't wanna talk to anybody EXCEPT MAYBE for those few people that come by and say hi every once in a while. Maybe them. Hobbit hole and surrounding land is like covered in plants and stuff. He generally deals in more "man-made" magicks, enchantments on jewelry and man-made objects and written spells n things (just a heads up the magic and how they use it is gonna be like. super up in the air for a while so i might change it. except for wild. you'll see in a bit)

Hyrule! One of Legend's closest buddies and Half-Fae High Mage (in training)! Also lives in a hobbit hole in the woods; he and Legend are hobbit hole buddies. Because of his half-fae status, he gets to pick and choose what rules, fae or human, he is beholden to at any given time. Thiiiis has a bit of a stigma, I'll say that much.

Rulie's more attuned to magic as a part of nature, not requiring written word to cast anything, and generally isn't as bound by rigid structures as humans who classify magic (this may possibly be because of the Triforce, which i have now decided is real in this AU). He could tell you right off the bat if something is cursed (he's got experience, after all!)

Wild! Also one of Legend's closest buddies and a witch! He can cast enchantments over the food he cooks and is very good at brewing potions and drinks. Possibly wants to open his own tavern someday. (Apparently the origins of the witch possibly came from lady brewers who worked in taverns and bars! I thought that fit way too well for Wild)

Twilight! Werewolf, plain and simple. He bothers Legend sometimes (affectionate). He's the son of Time and Malon and lives on Lon Lon Ranch.

What is Lon Lon Ranch? Why, no mortal knows! They couldn't tell you where it is, how to get there, or even how it never seems to be marked by the passage of time or space! They just know you can get some dang good milk from there.

Time! Just An Old Man, Promise. Definitely nothing going on here. Definitely not somehow outside the bounds of time and functionally immortal along with his wife Malon and possibly his son Twilight. Nope. Just Some Dude who works on a farm and goes fishing with Wind and Wild and somehow has vast tomes worth of knowledge and history that Legend is itching to get his hands on. And also has a soft spot for fairies.

YUP. Just a normal dude.

Warriors! Royal Captain of the Guard and Right-Hand to Sky and Sun. Generally suspicious of magicks and their goings-on. Totally not backstory relevant (wink).

Sky! Prince-Consort, God-Killer, and betrothed to the soon-to-be Queen of Hyrule, Sun! Yes, while the King was much adored, his time is swift coming to an end, but it's okay, he lived a good long life, and- what do you mean the King won't die? What do you mean he got a new advisor with possible ill-intent? Well that doesn't sound good, hopefully some prince-consort won't go harrying off to the woods to some random hermit in the woods because he's been having dreams about something going horribly wrong and magic being involved! That'd be absurd because that's something only prophetic seers can do - aw dangit there he goes.

Four! Has possibly the most wild backstory of them all, but suffice to say he's the apprentice and grandson of the Royal Blacksmith who has the ability to weave elemental enchantments into the blades he forges. Has a twin brother changling (Shadow) and four younger brother who might be spirits and might have pieces of his soul because of backstory shenanigans.

Wind! Possibly a mer. That's all I got so far, I'm sorry buddy.

States are banning a popular interview question — but that doesn't mean you'll get paid what you're worth

As of January 2018, employers in California can no longer ask job candidates for their salary histories.

But removing this question doesn't guarantee that employees will be offered their worth. 

It's still crucial to advocate for yourself and negotiate for the best compensation package possible.

Lawmakers in California have just joined several other states in passing a bill that prevents public and private employers from asking for your salary history.

It seems like great news on the surface, but there's a danger in you getting too comfortable going into the interview thinking they can't lowball you.

There are several important points you still need to negotiate in addition to salary, in order to make sure your total compensation accurately reflects what you're worth.

Adopt the right mindset from the start.

It can feel like a relief to get a job offer — the most gratifying end to what can often be a long and winding search. So, when you finally hear those magic words from an employer, the strong temptation can be to not look a gift horse in the mouth. But that's the wrong thought process.

A job is not a gift that you are so fortunate to receive. This is business, and a job is a business agreement. You are providing your labor and expertise for a fee — it is expected that you will negotiate that fee to your maximum advantage.

In 100% of scenarios, negotiate.

Most candidates don't negotiate at all, or they negotiate barely enough to be able to feel satisfied within themselves. The reason for this is primarily fear — fear of setting expectations that are too high, fear of appearing greedy, fear of not looking like you care about the organization, and the big one: Fear that they will rescind the offer.

Rescission almost never happens. The only way it could is if the candidate is being clearly unrealistic. For example, if the offer is $100K and the candidate's counter-offer is $200K, that's not typically within the realm of negotiation (for salary or anything else being bought and sold). The only other scenario in which the employer may rescind an offer is if something significantly negative suddenly occurs in the organization, and they decide not to fill your position (the negotiators may be struggling to hold onto their own positions, in that case.)

Negotiate every time. Even if they offer you a number that is exactly, or above what you want — and your heart is bursting with joy on the inside — negotiate.

Here are some elements to keep in mind so that you can effectively ask for — and receive — what you want.

Know the ground rules & the extras.

Salary does not equal total compensation. There are several key additional benefits you can request from your employer to constitute the total package that will provide you with the work/life balance you need.

Signing bonus: This is a clear indicator of just how incentivized the employer is to bring you on board, particularly if you're a competitive candidate with specialized skills and experience. Additionally, you can negotiate a signing bonus if other employers are competing for you.

Interim performance bonus: If the standard review occurs annually, negotiate a performance review and percentage bonus at a shorter time interval, such as three or six months. Ensure you've asked the question regarding what the expectations for your new role will be in that interim, and ensure you are well-compensated when you deliver on those objectives.

Administrative support: A quality executive assistant can make all the difference in you spending the lion's share of your time mired in the details of busywork, or focusing on delivering your valuable expertise. If the level of your new position wouldn't normally call for an executive assistant in this particular organization, communicate how such support will increase the impact you can deliver — and shorten the runway time. Note: It's not up to you to negotiate the assistant's salary. Allow the employer to hire that person and handle the compensation discussion without your involvement.

Convention-related comp time: Comp-time could give you breathing room after you travel to participate in a professional conference in your industry, and truly affect work/life balance. You're likely to be more productive if you have a paid day to recuperate, let your new knowledge sink in, then return to work hitting the ground running.

Wellness days: Asking for additional days off might seem obvious, but it's important to factor in wellness days for you to engage in self-care. Maybe this sounds "kumbaya" to you, like you're asking for a day to breathe in incense and study the clouds, but a wellness day is a legitimate need. It's important to have the ability to recharge without the mental pressure of knowing you're using a sick day or vacation time.

The salary-related employment law in California and other states notwithstanding, companies generally expect — and respect — candidates who negotiate. Just because they can't ask you for your prior salary, doesn't mean they get to state the salary range and that's it.

Confidently ask for what you want and provide professional reasons that support your requests. As your negotiations progress over a series of rounds back and forth, write down the details. And before you accept the offer, make sure you see what you've agreed on in your negotiations in writing.

Sage kinda would have to be a house husband since he is from hyrule and not from here making him not have any documents of his birth, pretty much making it harder for him to get a job or anything that has to do with people needing to know of his birth and I doubt people would believe that he came from a video game especially knowing how his ears look more human than hylian and half of his arm is missing and people would question that and look at reader thinking their suspicious and they have done something terrible to sage like kidnapping and sage wouldn't want that. Sage would probably have an interest of true crime shows because he would be able to pick the bad and good habits that killers did to or get caught and find the things that would kill a person more efficiently. Because of him now only having one arm he is gunna need help for some tasks like the ones where you need both arms altho he wants to prove that he is perfect to be a house husband for reader which the hole needing help to open a jar might break that to him but that is a plus cause that means reader would have to be with him as it can be used to bond and to get their attention to him instead of the chain. Being at reader's world now would Legend's hair be turn more normal he would probably have only few streaks of pink hair and twilight marks look faded like their old tattoos and much for the favor of sage those two would not turn into their animal forms as much and I think hyrule would feel much weaker as he is a fairy. Hyrule would probably try to learn modern medicine from shows and twilight would probably tag along sage when he is farming or going to the farmers market. Maybe one of them becomes a influencer to help reader with the bills since now there isn't just two people living but more than twelve if you count the others and reader.

And you're so right, reader would be DONE with how they're having to provide for everyone now. If any of the links offered to help, they'd be readers new favourite instantly - much to everyone else's jealousy.

as for some of the other points 👾, Sage very much volunteered but at the same time reader would be in so much trouble if he was found without any ID, there's a chance he'd try to forge some just to make it easier on them so they don't have to be as stressed about him going out or getting arrested themselves there isn't a single way he'd let that happen after all. But Wind would be the real issue - adults can somewhat slide, excuses for loosing things sure. but a kid? Reader is fucked if that ever got picked up on, and school is a whole different problem to deal with.

As for legend and the others, his hair would probably stay the same - sure the magic has gone, but it's not like hair dye doesn't exist here. The same could go for Twi's markings since they could be written off as a tattoo permanent without the magic so you're right about how they'd fade over time. It's less like the looks are the issue, it's just the magic isn't there anymore and anything - like their ears, Hyrule's fairy side and sage's arm have no way to fit into the real world so they get lost over time. ALSO POOR HYRULE, He's going to be bed sick for at least a week while his body adjusts. DO YOU THINK SAGE IS BAD WITH JUST AN ARM MISSING?? RULIE CAN'T MOVE AND HE'S NOT PLAYING IT UP AS MUCH AS HE COULD. While I do like the idea of Sage losing his arm within the real world as well, I feel like it wouldn't be completely lost. Reader would be constantly reassuring him that he's good enough and perfect as he is, only encouraging him to do it even more ✨✨. But if it was he would play it up for so many sympathy points, begging reader to open jars, to have them dote on him when he gets phantom pains and suspiciously only having it play up when the others want reader attention.

🥺 I feel bad for hyrule since that's gotta suck, I feel like he is gunna be monitored by reader till he is good since he is so vulnerable and needs help so reader is gunna probably cuddle and keep their eyes on him and just be like a free nurse since poor boy doesn't deserve this. When sages tries to get cuddles from reader by telling them that he is getting phantom pains again which ends up him having to share reader with hyrule and with the fact the chain almost always have their eyes on reader and so notice sages tactics and how he and hyrule easily get cuddles from reader because of the pains and reader wanting to help them and some of the chain might complain about things like headaches or other things to reader as to retaliate against sage or just point sages actions.

They would play it up as much as they can. in the end it just turns into a giant pile with reader at the centre so all of the chain can touch them. And they each have their own way of playing up their injuries. But at the same time the chain probably aren't pleased with Hyrule since reader's given him their bed till he can recover, and they don't like the fact their beloved is most likely sleeping on the floor so that they each have somewhere nice to sleep, with sage most likely to drag them into sharing with him.

Because this is such a good idea I've been brainrotting over it since I got this ask, I've got some Hc's for what each of them are dealing with, they'll go from who handles the shift worst to best! I also know you mentioned this wasn't a request but I just couldn't help myself 😭😭

✦ Sage and Rulie have it pretty fleshed out with how they've got their arm and entire body each, and there are points they don't even need to exaggerate how bad they're feeling cause they got hit the hardest upon ending up at readers. only Sage has far more time to adjust than any of the others, so by the time they arrive he has to act like he's gotten worse again for attention. That he'd get in a heartbeat if he only asked.

✦ wild has it bad as well, getting full body aches from how his body is adapting. the shrine probably left him with some remnant magic that is leaving him much weaker in this world now that its gone. Sage also gets this but less due to being out of the shrine longer, his arm also gets more attention anyway as it leaves him much more vulnerable

✦ Twilight and Legend have similar issues to each other, from not being able to access their animal forms anymore rip wolfie granted Twi gets it far worse with migraines as well from his head injury during his adventure. It feels similar to chilblains for both of them while they gradually adjust from their withdrawals.

✦ time would have it pretty bad from losing whatever the fierce deity has done to him, as well as the loss of any magic from being here. he's also an old man so he probably has joint issues sadcsdpvm

✦ sky most likely gets asthma attacks more commonly, not that he didn't get these in Hyrule but the increased pollution is so bad on his lungs that getting him an inhaler was the number one priority when he ended up in readers world alongside something to soothe Rulie.

✦ Four still has the colours and get migraines from them, just now its not possible for them to split. Nothing really affects him too badly but he can still get readers attention with what he does get.

✦ wars and wind never had anything that could really affect them badly, to begin with - they just tend to fake injuries and whine if they don't get as much attention as they need though.

✦ of course, there are some things that affect all of them such as losing their hylian features and generally just being weaker for a period while they adjusted to this new world, some just taking it far worse than the others did.

Possibility that with the help of the sheikh slate from wild when the chain end up in reader's world before the chain's magic largely fades away that wild makes fake IDs for the chain as when two people are in one house it's not that suspicious but when there is a bunch of people with the same name with no ID and including a child who have no track record of existing other than some video games, people are gunna take notice and as reader is the only one with a track to confirm their existence and so wild making IDs for the chain and sage probably already has his as reader's first priority is making sure the links have IDs and so when we get that out of the way, wars being influencer as it fits him the most cannonly. Twilight would be with sage with farming since he would probably have more experience than sage because of having all of his memories and being a country boy himself and him probably not trusting sage. Wild being the tech guy would probably try to learn as much as he can about technology and hyrule after getting back on his feet would probably try to learn modern medicine since his magic can't be 100% counted on and him still wanting to be useful for reader. Because of the fact wind is a kid reader is probably gunna have to be his adoptive parent since people are gunna notice how reader suddenly has a fourteen year old kid now especially family altho random people could believe that wind is Reader's kid because of the fact wind looks similar to most of the links and that's probably gunna cause a little riot because all the links wanting to say they are the father( I'm just picturing reader walking with the links and some random person spots wind and they ask "who's the father" and all the links except wind say "I am") wouldn't object the links have that has their own magic source or has been storing a large one stay way longer like sheikh slate, the ocarina of time, the master sword since it has demize as a source of magic and other stuff the links have and dink is probably gunna have it worst than hyrule since is literally born from magic as he is a literal shadow and he is probably his own source of magic so could he become reader's shadow and be sages eyes for the price of reader's attention as since he can be a shadow so no would think twice of seeing him in the office as they would think is reader's or theirs shadow and since he cannonly doesn't have that much of a bad relationship with sage after all "the saying of my enemy of my enemy is my friend"

Sage is working with their enemy to get to reader and it's working??? It could also be similar to the thing time and FD going on in that case, having dink become little more than an extension of Sage in the end and then sage has more magic than the rest of the chain due to it.

really though all of this is so good with how each of the chain would react, wild would 100% be the tech guy and try to make all of them ID's - even though Sage would most likely be the more capable one he'd simply refuse to do it. Wars would pick up how to do make up tutorials or something similar I'd imagine... what if he picked up livestreaming, and ended up being introduced to the zelda games? so far reader's been very reluctant to show them so there'd be a lot to explain.

Wind would most likely have to be enrolled into a school though as much as he hates that idea, not wanting to be away from reader or the chain for a single moment if he can help it, and them arguing over who his dad is KDLSPAV GOLDEN.

I'm gonna send this in before I go to bed tonight, but back to my old FFXIV Player shenanigans. This is gonna be a bit of long one.

After finishing the main story of Shadowbringers, it is now plausible that the mc could have become the monarch of the fae kingdom of Il Mheg. This of course is after taking the throne from the last king who had been corrupted beyond saving and using this magic clothing set to become the new king. The only reason mc doesn't canonically is cuz they still have the post story and a whole other expansion to do so becoming the fairy king wouldn't be too wise at the time. So instead of mc becoming the king, the throne was taken by our pixie friend by the name of Feo Ul who's aggressively Scottish and it's great.

But imagine a scenario in which they did choose to take on the mantle of the King of Il Mheg. This Player would become a fairy, since that's kind of how that works. Yet they still retain their desrie to travel the world and experience its many wonders, their human trait that never faded. It is a bit inconvenient to travel in their large fairy form so with the help of magic they simply take the form a normal human, or a human with pointed ears since they're in Hyrule. I'd also like to imagine that their clothing set is also still incorporated into their human form outfit as well since stylistic choices and it's kind of the symbol of their status.

Now, to the LU thought.

Hyrule and Time knew that Player wasn't human not too long after they met. They also knew that they were steeped in some sort of fairy like energy. It didn't take long for then to deduce that Player most likely had fae blood in them, which would explainba lot really. Rulie is happy to have another fae friend to interact with and Time us just a tad bit more relaxed in their presence then usual.

I'm not sure how exactly the Chain finds out that Player is a king, only the reactions.

Wild and Warriors are having internal panic attacks because excuse them, they've been horsing around and acting like a couple of morons in armor with a king. A king of fairies, no less? Just send them to god now please.

Hyrule is almost in the same boat, but more in the sense of how young people respect their elders. In his mind, Player is basically the equivalent of a Great Fairy, and he was raised by fairies, so it's kinda like interacting with a well respected individual or something. I'm not sure how to phrase it.

Time and Twilight appear to be indifferent, though Twilight displays genuine surprise and a bit of embarrassment (totally not because he husky screamed at Player a few times for scritches, no, not at all). They acknowledge their status, but they also know that Player wouldn't want to be treated differently based on it so not much changes.

Sky and Four are calm yet curious about the whole thing. Sky grew up in a time where the previous monarchy had long since fallen and he was a long ways way from truly establishing a new one, so he doesn't entirely get it in his head that Player is kind of pretty very important. In his mind, it's just his friend who he's very fond of. Four understands it more than Sky does, but because of his relationship with Dot (the bestest of besties), he also doesn't really acknowledge the title beyond Player having it.

Legend isn't really sure how to feel. He's got a very specific opinion on the monarchy but he also greatly respects his Zelda and the things that she does. He's at a crossroads, so he'll come of as stiff and standoffish (more so then usual) before eventually bouncing back to the way he used to be after getting it in his head that Player is still just Player.

Wind is asking many questions. He's curious! He has no concept of the signficance of the monarchy and he's too excited to even process that what he's doing would be considered disrespectful. He just thinks it's cool that Player rules a kingdom!

It's all very neat.

Also here's a picture of what Feo Ul looked like after they took the throne. So it's safe to assume that Player would bear a similar appearance. I don't know much about FFXIV (Tho XV and VII are two different stories) so apologies for not knowing that but this is a cool idea!

Honestly I feel like they'd be a bit calmer to this kind of thing? Magic and fairies is their norm, finding out Player is some sort of fairy monarch from another world is a normal Tuesday for them. Will there be mixed reactions, sure, but in the end it's something they can all deal with!

Pretty sure Cadence of Hyrule Link (or as I call him in my mind Lora, after Coloratura, like the Opera term?) is his own thing, much like how Warriors is, he didn't get melded in with any of the Link's from what I can see in Jojo's lore and much like Warriors he's not in the timeline (and I've got the books with me to double check), so I'm pretty sure his adventure is his own thing, another thing I use a lot to see if there Hyrule's are in the same branch of the timeline is lay out, like is Castle Town named Castle Town or Hyrule Town, how big is Hyrule Field, where is Link's House and where is it relative to another games, does this Hyrule have things that another game has like certain songs and items etc, it helps though that's a me thing for the most part cause I'm an overthinker, Cadence of Hyrule's Link layout doesn't match Legend's or Rulie's from what I remember of his game, besides I think Legend would probably remember the time a stranger from another world wielding a shovel that's actually a bit of a grave robber and literally missing a heart broke into his place through a magic portal to wake him up for music shenanigans with a fairy called Trill, which is Cadence of Hyrule's main fairy like Proxy, Tatl and Navi because she's trying to get back to her own place and drag even more Theater Kid Vaati with her back in one go. I personally headcanon that if he's anywhere in the timeline, he's probably the inflection point between Legend and Hyrule, after Legend's time, but most likely a few hundred years before Rulie give or take, making him one of Legend's descendants but Rulie's grandfather in spirit, or he and Warriors share an era or he's on that gray area with Warriors, Calamity and Wild, though I could be wrong. It would make sense though since I headcanon he gets the Triforce of Power back from Cadence after she leaves, so that would be almost a full Triforce which could lead to the events in Rulie's era.

All I can think now is that Cadence of Hyrule Link would definitely be a theater kid with Player, like he just gets introduces them to musicals from their world and they go absolutely nuts reenacting them when they can, I can definitely see him reenacting something like Helpless from Hamilton with Player just to mess with the Chain members who outwardly simp (because, not only is he more well prepared to deal with Player's unhinged vibes because of Cadence, whom I'm pretty sure has no chill given her main weapon is a shovel, but he also probably gets not so hidden gremlin vibes from her before she's gone), or any song with those romantic and yearning vibes, and I feel like he would really love the game Bad End Theater too, it's a great game if you ask me and shockingly cheap to get.

Basically shy at the start but very determined and with the classic Link will to help people, but an absolute band or theather kid once someone pulls out an instrument or mentions music, you wouldn't get him to sing normally but once he gets going he goes full on Disney Prince, probably a great dancer too and incorporates it into his fighting style, just, draws Player into an impromptu tango dance mid battle, spins and dips them to simultaneously get them away from a stray Bokoblin and deal with it in one go (Wild and Hyrule are chugging vinegar, Warriors could never- boy is unintentionally smooth and everyone is punching the air). His Zelda is also likely very spunky, like Artemis or Flora (she literally gets on his case for breaking pots and it's hilarious, can fight like Artemis which is very rare and I bet Cadence influenced her too) and she'd probably delight in knowing Player, her, Cadence and Player would be besties through energy alone, and Cadence for having another person that knows what it's like to be impromptu isekaied and she would absolutely hit Legend with a shovel if he started anything. She's out of chills to give after Octavo's shenanigans, probably teaches Player how to effectively make a shovel a weapon too.

All I'm saying is that if Nintendo won't give Warriors, First, the Link before Wild (whom I personally call Fia, after the Celtic word for hunter, though hero of seraph sounds so metal and I just- have Many Thoughts but I wouldn't wish to bother ya with my crazy theorizing and rambling even more than I likely do XD) and him some respect and content, but they'll make the Four Swords dress up spin off apparently canon, then I guess I'll just have to do it myself even while sleep deprived.

Speaking of musicals, any favorites you have or think the Chain would have?

Also, Songstress Reader, again maybe they have an Azura from Fire Emblem deal? They can use any of the vocalized songs from the boys era and their various effects, but the more they sing the more it harms their body or it could be specific songs that harm it (Like how Azura gets harmed by Lost in Thoughts All Alone because of the curse placed on the song and on the people whose kingdom they come from), like say the Song of Time, Song of Healing, maybe their own spin on Lost in Thoughts All Alone which can purify Malice like energy and even calm down dragons out of rages, The Ballad of the Wind Fish etc, the problem is when the Chain sees the side effects (I can imagine Wild paling and outright panicking if we're going the Azura route, like, Malice like energy crawling up their body, attacking it for daring to drive it away, Player trying to muffle their pain but inevitably screaming like a Redead under the sun, it crawling up Player's body until they fade into water or wind if they over do it), though it could also be that they spit blood if they over do it, I don't know, just a thought and an excuse for the Chain to watch Player be a good singer and dance, completely at ease as the fairies relax while listening to them, or the Loftwings trying to accompany Player by chirping along or Wolfie joining in, or maybe a full blow songstress au which is niggling at the back of my head (basically it boils down to Songstress knowing Fierce Deity from way back when, and it has quite a few bad endings for each of the Songstress' till we reach LU Modern Player Songstress). Maybe I'll go more in depth into it one day when I have more energy and time.

ALSO MUSICAL FIGHT SCENE I FUCKING LOVE IT- Player's definitely enjoying it too I mean this is really main character behaviour and they love it. (The boys are salty on the sidelines as he dips Player and somehow ends up with a rose in his mouth)

Listen, idk much about Cadence but if she's truly a gremlin she's gonna do just fine with Player, besties one might say and chaos will cover the land of Hyrule within seconds.

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to Fire Emblem so forgive me but this sounds cool! Honestly Player with musical magic just makes me really happy it's my favourite genre of magic.
