#And horses and cows will eat mice and birds if they get under their noses

Herbivores are high strung beasts, constantly on the lookout for danger. If it thinks you are danger, you are dead.
Predators generally don't think humans are worth interfering with, and don't tend to be aggressive unless they're desperate or protecting their young.
(Though some animals, *cough*bears*cough*, have a really wide defensive radius where they'll feel threatened just by you being near, so don't mess with bears. Most other predators will just see a human and go the other way if they don't have something to protect)
I think people tend to forget that herbivores are incredibly dangers.
#Obligatory: bears are omnivores and so are hippos#Human categories of carnivore and herbivore are kind of flawed and DEEPLY misunderstood by the public#Very few animals eat SOLELY meat or SOLELY plants#Even obligate carnivores like cats will nibble on plants for extra nutrients and of course get plant matter into he stomachs of their prey#And horses and cows will eat mice and birds if they get under their noses#A lot of animals that people consider “herbivores” are actually omnivores#Pleas don't “grass feed” your fucking chickens#Insects are a HUGE part of their diet and will happily eat meat if offered#Seeds and leaves are staples for them but they are also predators#They will chase bugs and mice across the field and then fight each other for who gets to eat it#I don't remember what they caught but one of my old chickens had caught something#and the rest of them chased her in circled while she screamed in victory#They kept trying to steal the food right from her beak#Anyway that got off topic fast
