So, for the Eclipse Kings,

I feel that it is going to be very interesting when the kings go from seeing you(the reader) as a hanger on to their son, to their other child. I don't know how you plan to go about it, but this is an idea I had:

So, you're stuck here, for now at least. MK doesn't want to let you go, and the kings feel indebted to you enough to make sure you don't, like, starve. It could be worse, but you don't really want to stay.

And good news! You probably won't have to. You're not their kid. They don't care about you, beyond a sense of obligation, really. And while MK is basically your brother, siblings don't always live right next to each other. You can leave and promise to come back or something. Macaque, at least, will probably be glad to get your pathetic, scarred, human self out of his pristine home.

It'll be fine. You can work with this.

You can work with the mat on the floor, still more comfortable than your old hut, and the clothes not quite made for you, but still better than anything you had, and the room that isn't yours, but it isn't cold, either. You'll probably leave in the spring, after this winter.

And then, something changes. Because things are starting to properly fit you, the only human in this palace, now.

You have a bed, now, and a room to go with it(although you and MK still tend to sleep closer together than not).

And you don't tend to hallucinate, but you must have, just now. Or else Macaque just introduced you and MK as his "kids".

And you can't be their kid, and be free. They just got MK back, after assuming he was dead. You've seen how closely they watch him. He'll probably never leave, or at least not anytime soon, and never for long.

Maybe you're misunderstanding things, you think. After all, they're not heartless. Wukong has always been prone to getting in other's personal space, surely him picking you up to show you something he thought you would like is a normal extension of that.

And even if they did care, you're human. That's got to be an issue, right? No one would accept a human as part of Flower Fruit Mountain's royal family. Also, you won't live half as long as them. Why would they get attached?

However, when someone is even half as powerful as these kings, it turns out that these are solvable problems, really.

And they have never been good about losing what's theirs. Especially not now that they decided they have more to lose.

(Sorry if this doesn't fit with what you're planning. I just had lots of thoughts.)

(Anon, this is exactly it. It’s little things. And I love how you write BTW?? It’s so good!)

The starting disparity is undeniable, even though it’s not malicious and sometimes necessary, and honestly even understandable.

MK gets steak with broth and rice. You get porridge and diced fruit. Fair- he’s got a stronger stomach than you, because you always made sure that he ate better, ate cleaner, ate more. Your stomach isn’t adjusted to anything above the literal bare minimum. He can process meat without losing his guts, you can’t.

So it’s actually the furthest thing from unfair, given that it’s custom catered to your needs. Hell, they even mix in honey to make it more palatable.

But only because they owe you.

So it’s nothing more than repaying a debt when they ensure that the maidservants have a full list of food appropriate to serve you, each meal shared on MK’s insistence- it’s nothing.

Not yet.

Your mat is nothing special to them, and at first they doubt that you’ll sleep well- then the kings see how deeply you rest, how hard it is to rouse you. It’s perfectly cozy, not to them, but to you. MK tells them you slept on the ground before, left the little bedding available to him. You slept cold and hungry, but he was warm and fed, draped in whatever you could scrounge up.

So they plan to make things a little cozier, maybe only to see how you’ll react, maybe only because MK refuses to use his own bed and instead sleeps on your chest, maybe only because every minute spent with or around you is another reminder that they owe you their son’s life a hundred times and several years over.

Which has Macaque wonder if you can’t be a little cozier, because maybe he owes you some comfort after the hell you endured to provide for his son.

He calls you to the washroom one day and gives you a few of his nicer supplies, a soothing cream for wounds in one jar, a lovely citrus perfume in another. Things he has because Wukong convinced him to love himself enough to indulge in luxuries, now shared with some little mortal that didn’t know such things existed before now.

You have scars, the same as him. Macaque pointlessly “punished” himself for the death of a son still-living, hungry and cold and dirty. You earned yours the hard way, by living as best you could to take care of MK.

You have the scars for the same reason, but yours are a thousand times more earned, less piteous, and far, far worse.

So he teaches you how to take care of them, stretches to work through when they start to ache, what to eat to loosen tension in the body, so on and so forth.

But only because he owes you. Nothing more.

Not yet.

(But you use that perfume each day, and the monkey certainly doesn’t miss how you brighten at the little taste of luxury.)

And MK- “Qi Xiaotian”, they say, trying hard to drill that lovely (it really is lovely, but you don’t think it fits him) name into your mouth, but it tastes bitter and wrong. He’s only ever been your little “Monkie Kid”, even before his years-long illusion (glamour, some call it) wore off.

MK, with all his love for you, anchors you in place.

Fine. That’s fine.

You can justify it. Reason your way through staying, never realizing that you’re adjusting.

You can’t leave because it’s too cold. Because you’re too hurt. Because there’s no easy way to find food. Because, a dozen times over, and the truth is that the only thing keeping you here is the prince.

“Qi Xiaotian”, alight with gleeful laughter, who refuses to sleep unless you’re within arm’s reach, who insists you share every new toy or treat the kings bring him. “You’re my big sibling,” he says, voice bright with conviction. “Why wouldn’t I share?”

It’s easy to let that logic soothe you. After all, MK’s the real reason you’re here. Without him, the kings wouldn’t even know you existed.

So you settle in a little more.

It’s not like you get used to all this, after all.

And then Sun Wukong grows a little more doting. Now your food is somewhat like theirs, tender cuts of meat served beside your porridge to help the adjustment back to solid and hearty food. Fruit juice in place of water. Bread with jam. Only a little bit of each, but your plate is more appealing, and you enjoy those meals a little more each day with all the new things you get to try.

He even grows playful once or twice, clinking his gilded goblet against your glass, pretending to toast with you.

You smile. It’s not the sort of fun orphans like you often get to have.

(He’s starting to cherish your smile. How cute! How sweet! No wonder you cheer his little Xiaotian up!)

You get tucked in sometimes, when you fall asleep and sprawl over MK, who cuddles into your chest like he always has- this means subjecting yourself to nightly check-ups from the kings, but they come with glasses of water and fluffy blankets, so who cares?

They tuck you both in, mostly because any form of separation would be impossible.

And maybe because it’s just cute to see their kids sleeping happily and; more importantly, safely.

Then Macaque wants to change your wardrobe. He calls you in one day, right back to the washroom from before.

Has it been months already?

Weren’t you supposed to leave when spring came blooming through?

He drapes a new hanfu over your shoulders- the last one was shabbier, duller. It was a non-distinct blue and dull white, but this one is black with gold embroidery. He ties a silk sash around your waist and then pulls a fur-lined cape over your shoulders.

It’s warm. It has to be warm, because there’s a cold chill coming in and you’ll “need” to be comfortable through it. There’s no explanation given as to why it matters to him, so you just assume that the king is being a good host.

After all, it’s not like he cares about you.

…right?

It can’t be.

But he goes a step further and tends to your hair with a vast array of implements and products, trimming the uneven edges and setting it with many different creams for restoration. And then applies a few balms for your lips, your nose…

So eventually you’ve whiled the whole day away being doted on and in some manner “soothed”, feeling genuinely and honestly good, and even-

Pretty.

You’ve never felt pretty before.

His hand, harsh as it was days prior, gently swipes the tears gathering in your eyes, then pats your head.

(And he starts wondering if maybe having an older child wouldn’t be so bad.)

And maybe when Wukong is talking to Azure and Yellowtusk about some new invention they’re brainstorming to improve the lives of mortals, some form of metal that always twists to point north, keeping them from losing their way in untamed wildernesses and winding paths. The science of it goes over his head, but he nods along anyways- anything for his Brotherhood.

And you come along to tell him something maybe that trends to “unimportant”, given that you just tug his sleeve with a mild expression, content to wait- and Wukong, really without thinking, scoops you up and sits you on his hip, motioning out a little bounce here and there.

It should be embarrassing (and it is, a little), but… he’s warm, you’re waiting for his attention anyways, and it’s not like either of the demons he’s speaking to mind, so… you just don’t argue.

But even when they leave he doesn’t put you down, and instead cradles you again, like he did the first night you both met, like a father holds his newborn baby, one arm supporting your back and legs, the other your neck. He asks what you need, and smiles when you tell him.

And even when he goes off to do whatever it is that you needed, well… Sun Wukong still does not put you down.

But maybe he just wasn’t thinking on it.

(If you were a frog, the water would be nearing a boil.)

And then there are parental threats, little idle “warnings” that they don’t seem intent on following through with.

Threats that your mouth with be scrubbed with soap, or that you’ll be sent to the corner, or taken over a knee, or some other generic punishment that a parent wouldn’t think twice about administering… but surely they aren’t being serious.

Surely.

After all, those are things parents do to their children, and you are not their child.

So you accept it as “teasing”.

The suggestions that the kings might see fit to correct your behavior slowly become reality- mostly in the form of lectures or lightly tugged ears. They do not remove privileges, given that you take and do so little- would they take your food or bedding, and make you fear a return to your squalid lifestyle?

Instead they just… talk. Talk about how you’ve disappointed them, how they’re sad, upset. How you’ve “let them down”, but there’s still second chances because they know you can “do better”.

You’re teasing MK, something harmless but just sharp enough to make him pout and snap back at you. The kings are in the room, half-paying attention, but you can feel their presence like a storm cloud hanging over your head.

Wukong’s tail lashes once, twice, and then he’s there, tugging lightly at your ear.

“Hey,” he says, his voice mock-stern but with an edge that makes you freeze. “Be nice. That’s your brother.”

Before you can be scared, Wukong lets go, ruffling your hair like he’s brushing away the moment itself, and you’re left standing there, your heart racing for reasons you don’t fully understand.

And you finally can’t find a way to justify it- because they have finally dropped the act and stopped pretending that you aren’t family.

You can’t leave, because they’ve decided you belong here.

Not because they owe you. Not because of MK.

Because you’re theirs.

What if neglected mk reader was part of the tournament before they left their world, like Scorpion's 'training' was throwing them headfirst into battle against some of the more 'side' characters like Reptile or Frost? (Ik they are important to the actual mk storyline, but they arent in this story.)

I keep imagining that someone from reader's original world coming back for revenge for beating them as a kid and declaring mortal kombat, and since its been declared- the same rules apply, neither party is able to back down even if they wanted to. So here these two are, going at it to the death- how is the batfamily gonna react?

I definitely think that scorpion would make little mortal kombat reader fight stronger opponents. Like reptile or frost. But like keep in mind that mortal kombat reader was like 6-7 years old when she left.

So like imagine losing to a six or seven year old? That would be shameful and would probably take away your honor.

Especially in the mortal kombat universe. Where everyone fights to be the best. Like you probably shamed there name and their families name.

It was like they lost to a baby. Which they kinda did. Like it was so bad that no one even thought they were good enough to fight against.

So of course there waiting for revenge. But like I'd like to imagine that it's not that simple for just anyone to travel another universe.

But like when reader returns to mortal kombat world? Oh they have a whole lot of enemies waiting to gain back their honor.

And the best part? Reader doesn't even remember fighting them. Like..

" Y/N Hasashi you took everything from me. I challenge you to a duel to the death."

And readers just standing there confused because like who the hell are these people and why do they want to fight me?

"Bro I don't even know you"

And their just like tf? She ruined my life and she don't even remember me.

But readers just standing there all nonchalant as of she didn't just get challenged to a fight to the death.

"Bro last time I was here I didn't even know my ABC."

But like can you imagine batfam finally finds you after finding away to travel to the mortal kombat universe. And they see reader just nonchalantly talking to a huge reptile who's literally talking about how their gonna tear reader apart.

And readers just using all her brainrot that she got from gotham to annoy the huge terrifying reptile.

"Wait so your saying I ripped off your arm?"

"Yes that's exactly what I'm saying."

I imagine they met through MK. Particularly meeting through MK causing wreckage and falling through the roof of Suklha meeting her Client. In this case, Suklha isn't Wukong's lawyer and he has no idea who she is.

In a very cartoonish way, Wukong got attracted at first sight. Curious and threatened. The thought of another immortal chasing after MK, his prodigy just to talk about property damage? Thats hilarious! MK was just trying to save the city! This is injustice-!

Okay, maybe he can give her the benefit of the doubt. He hasn't been teaching MK properly. He'll admit, he's not the best teacher to have. He's probably lucky to have MK as his student who's so naive and patient. Naive enough for Wukong to ask who the lady that caught him during their sparring, get his ear talked out about an immortal Lawyer amongst celebrities known as the best of the best. I mean, what kind of monkey king doesn't have her as a lawyer? She's supposed to be the best! He should fire his current one. Yeah that makes sense, its definitely not because so he can get closer to Suklha. Nah, thats too egotistical! Hes a renowned sage! He should know better!

Yet even as he FINALLY joined those "VIP party" hosted by someone he doesn't care enough about, just so multiple well known artists and celebrities can gather and talk nonsense while drinking alcohol. His eyes kept looking around for a blue toned lady, usually his own Lawyer attend these events, something about finding relations and connections.

Eh, he lives in the mountains. His novel is worldwide, he doesn't need those stupid stuff.

He's lucky enough to see his namecard being put beside the person of interest, holding a glass of fine wine. Wearing a new and expensive black outfit, yet similar enough to her usual look.

So we know Wukong probably isn't doing too well mentally due to LBD trauma and season five events until he traveled back due to Nuwa.

Will Wukong eventually have a breakdown at some point? If so, will someone witness it or is he alone when it happens?

oh he is coping horribly. He is absolutely paranoid and genuinely was left terrified that he could lose MK who in his heart has sort of subconsciously become his cub-

He has a whole lot of nightmares and is desperately trying to keep everything together. And let's not forget Macaque wanting him dead again- especially after having finally started to get close again and even more so with having had to confront the memories of their fight thanks to the 100 eyed demon- he really doesn't know if he can fight Macaque again- but he needs to keep MK safe and Macaque might come after MK again. Man is paranoid

Mk's outfit is honestly not the boldest or anything but it doesn't need to. But I DID want to make it very baggy as it's one of Wukong's old robes so I took references from Chihiro from spirited away (If you know, it's an important plot point in the movie)

I didn't want to turn Wukong into like an entire creature entirely so instead I just superglued the mask to his face, his face his probably really sooty/dirty, he got a growth spurt it seems (maybe from a curse?) and yes he does have 4 arms. Also a certain group who had beef with shadowpeach decided to pour boiling hot oil as well as the molten iron and copper pellets down Wukong's throat so he might sound a wee bit rustier than usual. Just enough for his husband to not recognize him at the very least.

He doesn't have them in the 3rd pic cause I drew that before making the decision and also again, I'm lazy

Sooo there’s this trend I’ve seen going around where it’s basically someone copying someone’s snaps, and then they basically just flex their muscles, and the person copying the other person is just RIPPED. Though he would joke to you and also show off his good looks which you called him handsome on multiple occasions. You told him and Mk that you your own muscles as well, and of course Wukong asked you to show him, thinking your joining in on the fun. Until when you did you flexed your muscles so hard your sleeved ripped, cue Mk's blown mind and Wukong's jaw touching the floor. He also might be blushing and drooling very hard as he pushes Mk out the house so he can jump your bones🤤

(HIB Wukong) Man he would think the concept of flexing is stupid, and thinks it's purely for showing off.(Which is rich coming from him🙄) However Luier was on his motor mouth moments and asked Wukong if he still has his muscles, and of course he was against it. Though that's when you tell Luier that both you and Wukong have muscles, it's just not seen too often. Wukong, though, you were exaggerating and just telling Luier anything to keep him for bothering him, so he asked about it. That's when you sighed and showed your BULK Biceps ripping the sleeves slightly. Luier began fanboying and shooting questions at light speed. Meanwhile, blood shot out of Wukong's like a water fountain, mumbling as he had a physical breakdown.

(NR Wukong) I'm sorry but this man is a hyperactive bean pole, you would think that all the CENTURIES of battle he would have some kind of bulk but no. DESTROY MY SKINNY ASS! BREAK ME IN HALF LIKE A KIT KAT BAR!🥵 I don't know how somebody can get even more shameless.

(MKR Wukong) Oh this should be hilarious, I mean Wukong clearly doesn't need muscles to cave somebody's face in. Wukong would roll his eyes at the idea of flexing, and also thinks it's stupid. That's when you told him about your own muscles as you walked together on patrol, Wukong immediately thought you were messing with him. Their is no way you looking all pretty and Dainty could ever have muscles like that, However It didn't stop him from asking to see out of curiosity. Upon first looking at Sun Wukong, one would assume he'd be a silly yandere.

However, while I think he can be a soft yandere, he is FULLY capable of being a threat.

He may act silly to appeal to his obsession... but he's capable of destruction.

Wukong's typical yandere type is protective with hints of being soft.

He's a confident hero who has his own fears towards the ones he loves.

Ever since he was young, Wukong has wanted to keep people safe.

The world always has threats, even during his retirement.

Which means Wukong would be rather attentive if not paranoid about his obsession's safety.

Wukong isn't usually that bad with you... But he's capable of being an intense yandere.

He's got strong powers which I imagine would make it hard for his obsession to leave.

He doesn't want to hurt his obsession... although deep down he knows he could.

If he ever hurt you, he'd never forgive himself.

Wukong likes to view himself as your guardian.

He's your personal hero, someone meant to protect you.

He wants you to praise him for that.

I feel Wukong would use his fame to get close to you.

That or you happen to be a friend of MK's, which makes it infinitely easier for him to be close to you.

Most of the time Wukong likes to be close to you while you're aware.

He loves your company.

He's very talkative, often showing interest when you speak.

Normally he seems bored when others talk, but with you he listens to every word.

He's clingy too, completely addicted to your affection.

He no doubt hugs you often, nuzzling closer as you pet his fur.

Surprise hugs are a common form of affection for him.

You'd think if they happened so often you'd get used to them.

You don't.

I have a feeling Wukong is touch starved when it comes to affection.

When he's close enough to you, he's always trying to coax some sort of affection out of you.

He's a big one for it.

Like most animal-like yanderes I write, I imagine Wukong has some animalistic traits.

For example, I imagine he feels comforted when he smells his scent on you... and your scent on him.

Your scent brings him comfort and soothes his possessive behavior towards you.

If you were around others for too long, I can even see him hugging you to try and cover you in his scent again.

Maybe that's why he hugs you so often...?

Speaking of other possessive behavior, Wukong may express frustration when you're around other people for too long.

That and he might bite to mark his obsession, licking the mark afterwards as an apology.

Wukong can be manipulative due to his charisma and tendency to outsmart people.

He'll manipulate others away from you if he has to, or just coax you into visiting him more often.

Even when you're away from Wukong, he isn't that far away from you.

Wukong can shapeshift, which means he could watch you as a bird or something.

You're never truly alone, always watched over by him.

Wukong feels it's his duty to protect you.

Especially since he finds himself falling in love with you....

He's always playful, grinning and trying to make you smile.

Meanwhile when you're unaware, he's watching you like he can't be apart from you.

He can be anything from a bird watching from the sky to a spider on the wall while you sleep....

He tends to breach your privacy due to his abilities.

That and I can probably see him lying on your bed when you aren't there or even sneaking into your home while you're sleeping to nap beside you.

He loves your warmth.

Would he hurt anyone for you?

Nowadays he typically tries to be less violent, but when he was younger he tended to be ruthless.

He probably still would hurt someone over you, yet they'd have to be a threat.

Someone like, y'know, Macaque?

Even when jealous he tries to soothe his violent urges by cuddling you or nipping lightly at your skin.

However... If something makes him snap... He may just wake up with a metallic taste in his mouth and blood on his fur.

Truthfully, he's always been holding back due to his power.

If he loses his cool... Who knows what could happen, right?

He... doesn't want you scared of him.

Would he kidnap you? I can see it but he wouldn't word it like that.

He'd probably say he senses a threat going to happen... then, until MK can take care of it, he wants you to stay in his home.

His home just inhabits you, him, and the monkeys on the mountain.

He mostly keeps you in his home, insisting on you sleeping beside one another.

It's selfish, he's fully aware.

Unfortunately, by the time he lures you to his home, he's too far gone.

Even when you point out his obsession, he just sort of... accepts it?

Has he kidnapped you? Yes, unfortunately.

Has he hurt others for you? ... It takes him longer to respond but he'll nod his head.

Will he ever let you go?

He ends up shaking his head, too scared to lose you like he lost some others in his life.

He may have messed up, both in the past and now, yet he won't anymore.

You'll be safe and cared for with him.

More importantly... safe and with him.

It's difficult for him to explain to the others why you're always with him.

He'd probably tell them you decided to live with him... Then hope they don't press further on his attraction to you.

☀️ When you're not looking, he'll take your camera/and or camcorder and take secret photos/videos for you to find later. They'll either be full of sweet praises or silly jokes and close-up shots of him messing around in your room.

🍜 MK seems to be the type to appreciate every form of artistic expression, including photography. When he learns that you've had it as a hobby since you were a kid, he'll insist on being your muse or suggesting things for you to take photos of–cuz, y'know he's the type to think everything is an important memory to keep record of.

🌙 There have been times when you tried to sneak a few shots of him, but these plans were all thwarted as he disappeared before the shutter went off. He'd reappear behind you, kiss your cheek, then tauntingly say you'll probably get him next time.

Never would he want his lover to see the gore that is to take a life. Bi-Han would actively try to avoid exposing his partner to anything like that but he cannot

The only time he'd kill in front of his lover was if he absolutely had to and he is not very tidy about it. He's rageful and consumed by wrath as he murders them and you are only left to watch life cease to be. He feels incredibly guilty afterwards but struggles to find words. In actually, you would end up comforting him because he feels so lowly about exposing you to something like that

Johnny is a showoff and is always doing the absolute most with everything. This includes taking someone out

He thinks he is impressing you and turns to you expecting a big reaction and cheering but he doesn't you just look...zoned out. He asks you what's wrong and didn't you see how high the dude's head went up in air? It takes him a bit to realize that witnessing someone die can be heavy and then he will awkwardly start to comfort you and apologize

Shao is not a comforting lover. To kill someone is show that he is better than them in every way. He enjoys taking down his opponents

If his partner was stunned to see someone die he would tell them that they will quickly get used to see the death of thousands because he will no one standing who gets in his way

Would prefer his partner not having to witness someone die as he knows it can be extremely difficult for someone to witness. Geras is unbothered by the death of others but he is mindful of his partner

He would try to shield your eyes from it. If you saw it he would apologize to you and validate all of the feelings you are experiencing while also promising to help you through them

Liu Kang has been accustomed to killing for many years now and yet he still knows that it will have an impact on you. You are not like him. You haven't been alive for thousand upon thousands of years to adjust to this life style

Killing in front of you is not easy for him but he knows it's much worse for you having to witness it the first time. He is kind and gentle with you and tells you that it is alright and to let him take your worries away

The last thing Kuai Liang wants is to bring his lover discomfort but he knows that is unrealistic to shield you from everything

That is why when he kills someone in front of you, he is quick to be by your side but also give you the space you need. Kuai Liang says that it is okay to not be okay in this moment or even for awhile after that. He speaks on how he will be your strength just as you are to him

Baraka's kills are often brutal and messy even when he doesn't intend them to be but Tarkat cannot be helped

He wants to comfort you, take you into his arms and tell you he is sorry but he can't. Not when he is covered in blood and still feeling the itch from taking a life. It's a difficult thing for him to do but he tries to comfort you as best he can but Baraka struggles with saying the right words that will help

i think MK would mostly feel a sense of loss for the fact that in a way, things should have been like this, like when he “hatched” Wukong probably would have found him if it wasn’t for the fact someone or something brought it to Pigsy shop. He would have grown up with someone who could tell him how to be a stone Monkey and teach him his power. Surely, I think Wukong wouldn’t have been as good as a parent as Pigsy, and MK doesn’t regret a bit how things actually ended up happening, but it’s a bit of a case of “sometimes I imagine how my life would have been if it went this way”

Starsfic: I love your Red King AU? May I please have some headcanons?

Of course! I don't quite know what headcanons for my own AU means (confusing post, I'm not gonna lie), but I assume you want little tidbits. These will all focus on the Red King of Eternal Slumber/that part of the story, because I'm hoping to create a fic or something.

Red King has ombre eyes

If Red King were colored, her eyes would be a gradient from purplish-pink at the top to orange at the bottom! A quick visual:

Red King often isn't actually trying to eat MK

She just likes spending time with him. If they ever got close to her actually eating him (soup prepared and all), she'd probably give him an easy escape route. MK doesn't know this, however, so he's always properly terrified whenever his hand ends up in her jaws.

A sizeable portion of MK's paycheck goes to keeping Red King fed.

She says if MK is going to be so rude as to not let her eat him, he better bring her something to eat! And MK obliges, because he thinks she's fun and also he really doesn't wanna get eaten before he even gets another day off.

Just like her mother, Red King loves Pigsy's cooking, and MK is close to Pigsy's cooking, so he blows his check getting her everything she lazily points at on the menu. With how much she eats, taking it without paying would be a robbery, and he can't just steal from Pigsy.

Everyone's always like "oh Wukong getting the circlet back is gonna bring some good Shadowpeach drama" but like... How would Mk feel??? I can just imagine Wukong freaking the fuck out and Mk of all people is the only one who can calm him down, the WHOLE gang (including Macaque) just remind of the journey. ESPECIALLY TANG.

like bro... how hard is it to have some sunburst duo angst guys.... all I want to see is Mk realizing how emotionally fucked up Wukong is and him being the only person he's emotionally vulnerable with, I really wanna see how Mk and swk interacting like this because Mk feels like swk is all holy and shit, but I am in desperate need of swk being forced to show how actually broken he is, and who else can he trust BUT Mk?

mk Is one of the few ppl who actually care abt him, and in return, all of the love Wukong feels is directed towards him, which naturally has caused Mk to idolize him- even if he knows swk was never the best person. swk throughout s1-s3 has never truly been vulnerable w/ him, and in s4 Mk only scratches through the surface of the emotional trauma his mentor has. And so I feel like having Wukong freak the fuck out about the circlet is the first step in Wukong actually healing. I feel like he'll only confide in Mk how much he's scared or whatever because Mk is the only person who doesn't remind him of his past (the journey, specifically), and so the circlet has little to no association with him.

and I know some ppl would make the argument that "oh Macaque has known him emotionally or whatever" but I don't necessarily believe that means Macaque would comfort him in the same way Mk would. in the s5 trailer, it's MK putting his arm on Wukong when Li Jing put the circlet onto him, not MACAQUE. this proves that Mk cares abt him heavily (physically AND emotionally), but I don't disagree that Macaque cares, I just think that Mk is more prone to caring about him explicitally than Mac. it's obvious that he's way too early in his character arc to care for Wukong like Mk does.

and I think that that care would lead into Mk being more open w/ Wukong, and maybe after all that, Wukong would confide in him more.

i feel like at this point Mk will have to take on the task of being Wukong's emotional support system, he'll have to grapple with all the shit Wukong has been through, and I fully believe he'll wonder how tf Wukong was able to live with all that. especially now, when he's being forced to remember his past (in a more physical sense, that is, s4 was more emotional than anything)

SO when Li Jing puts the circlet back onto him, maybe Wukong will instinctually lean into the emotional comfort Mk provides him? and since he's probably the only person who's been willing to actually listen to him, maybe he'll open up to him more, now that he practically has no choice.

or he'll have a panic attack while Mk holds him in his arms and desperately tries to calm him down while the rest of the gang watches without realizing that they're making things worse, but hey, what do i know

i am a firm believer in Wukong having severe PTSD from the journey if you couldn't tell already

he gushes about you almost constantly. it can be about any interaction he had with you. he will talk to the nearest person about it

Wukong supports it but he's mostly confused but that's fine

if he ends up admitting his feelings, he's got a flower that reminds him of you and y'all are meeting somewhere so he can do the thing. Mei is probably watching in case everything goes wrong

when you accept, he's so fucking happy and it takes everything in him not to kiss you the second you say yes

She'll show you off to her chat if she's streaming. they'll make a few simp comments about her crush but she acts cool and brushes it off

on the inside, she is worried you might find out and is surprised that you don't

she'll take you for rides on her little dragon bike around the city

you have to go to work? there she is! need a ride to the grocery store? mei knows your location

NOOO it's not because she likes the feeling of your arms wrapped around her while she's driving you around

she's a little bit more upfront about her feelings, but she still has her and MK go through stupid shenanigans to get your attention

she's a little worried about her parents not being approving of you because dragon clan stuff

but I think because of the episode with the dragon sword, her parents would come around

when she wants to tell you, Mei would try to disguise it as you two hanging out as friends

MK and Sandy are following you two around while you're both having fun

Then, Mei takes you somewhere a little more remote and admits her feelings. When you say yes, she throws herself onto you and is the happiest Dragon Horse Girl in the world

Redson

this motherfucker is a tsundere through and through

This time, they have two wingmen, MK and Mei. but she doesn't like it

he'll try to shoo them away every time they make a comment about him making a move on you

Redson will bring you the finest jewelry in the world if you wear it

if you don't he'll make little trinkets for you

either way, he's giving you gifts since I see that as his love language

each gift redson gives you has a seal on it, showing anyone that tries anything with you that you're under the demon bull family's protection

If you notice something, cue the flames

she will deny everything that has to do with their crush on you

Once he confesses, that's when he'll ask MK and Mei for any kind of help, and they're on thin fucking ice already

She brings you another piece of jewelry, however, this one is a bit grander than the others. He treats it like a marriage proposal even though they're reminded several times that you have to date someone first before you marry them

You accept it though, and that's all that matters to him
