Ah, the Vampire Academy timeline, my old nemesis.
I think Frostbite is the last time it makes any sense, because it completely falls apart in the first chapter of Shadow Kiss.
Just a few pages into SK Rose says it's been "almost three weeks" since Mason died, which, if we're being generous, puts the date at about the 21st of January. Okay, no problem there. Except the very next page she says it's 31 days until her 18th birthday - so about the 21st of February.
Which was also fine until the 10th anniversary edition came out and the short story 'From the Journal of Vasilisa Dragomir' specified that Rose's birthday is the 21st of March.
And it only gets worse in Blood Promise. I've tried to make some sense of it so many times but it just doesn't work. I love this series, but the perfectionist in me starts weeping any time I think too hard about logistics
I just finished rereading Frostbite, and I've been noting down events to construct a timeline, so going purely by the events in the book, I can confidently say that Mason was most likely killed on December 31st. The days when they were captured are a bit fuzzy but I'm fairly sure it's either December 31st or January 1st.
#WHERE DID THAT MONTH GO‚ RICHELLE?#WHAT DID YOU DO TO FEBRUARY?!!#Also I lied when I said it was fine when Rose's birthday was the ~21st of Feb prior to the 10th anniversary#Bc throughout SK Rose references it still being winter before stating 'spring had finally come' in the final chapter#Whether you start spring on 1st of March or the vernal equinox (~20th March)‚ it's certainly not Feb 21st#And ESPECIALLY not feeling like spring in the Montana Rockies in Feb#Anyway sorry for the ranty info dump. There's just something about the mess of the VA timeline that gets me in a rage lol#frostbite spoilers#vampire academy
