DIG (Anantnag Atul Goel said yesterday, “The weapons were meant for the new recruits of terrorists” Until recently, terrorists were mostly seen using AK 47 or AK series rifles but now these recoveries of sophisticated US Made M- Series is a matter of worry for security forces in Jammu Kashmir.
As those weapons are more effective and were earlier used by the top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammad only. Three years ago, the first M Series rifle was recovered when three terrorists of JeM were killed in south Kashmir including the nephew of the Masood Azhar.

SRINAGAR: Five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died after terrorists attacked security forces at KP road in south Kashmir's Anantnag on Wednesday evening. Three others including a local woman and a Jammu and Kashmir Station House Officer (SHO) are critically injured. A terrorist has been shot dead by forces in the exchange of fire. “One terrorist was firing in the middle of the road, taking cover from a CRPF vehicle. He even tried to barge inside, but was eliminated by the forces,” the police official said. Police said that the body of a foreign terrorist, with an AK-47 weapon, has been recovered from the spot. Minutes after the attack, terrorist outfit Al-Umar Mujahideen claimed responsibility. The Pakistan-based terrorist group is led by Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, who was one of the terrorists freed by India along with Masood Azhar in return for the passengers of Indian Airlines flight IC 814 hijacked in 1999. In a statement to a local news agency, the terrorist outfit said its cadres carried out the attack on the security forces party, leading to the killing of five personnel. The KP Road, where the attack took place, leads to the Amarnath cave. A great salute to the Indian Army and J&K Police for gunning down 8 terrorists in 3 encolunters in Kashmir. Eight terrorists, including top commanders, have been killed in three different encounters in Jammu and Kashmir, police said. One terrorist was killed in Anantnag and another was caught alive. Encounters are underway in Shopian’s Dragad and Kachdoora, news agency ANI reported quoting Jammu and Kashmir DGP, SP Vaid. “Seven bodies of terrorists and huge amount of weapons have been recovered in Dragad,” Vaid said. In Anantnag, the encounter broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Peth Dialgam area of the district in the early hours, news agency PTI reported quoting a police official. SRINAGAR: Zakir Musa, the so-called chief of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, a group affiliated with Al-Qaeda, was killed in an encounter with security forces in a village in South Kashmir's Tral, officials confirmed Friday. A defence spokesman said one terrorist was killed in the operation at Dadsara in Tral area of Pulwama district Thursday night. "The (slain) terrorist was identified as Zakir Musa after the body was recovered Friday morning. Weapons and war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site," defence spokesman Rajesh Kalia said, adding that the operation has been called off. https://youtu.be/qD29Iidlwps Senior police officials said security forces had launched a cordon and search operation at Dadsara village and when the terrorists tried to escape, an encounter broke out. Spontaneous protests broke out Thursday night in Shopian, Pulwama, Awantipora and downtown Srinagar, with people raising slogans in favour of Musa, prompting authorities to impose curfew in some parts of the Valley as a precautionary measure. The restrictions have been imposed in some areas of Pulwama, Srinagar, Anantnag and Budgam districts. Educational institutions have been ordered closed for the day while mobile internet services have also been snapped across Kashmir. Two terrorists have been killed in an ongoing operation in Arwani area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said on Thursday evening. A police official said so far two terrorists have been killed and searches are underway to look for another terrorist believed to have been killed in the gunfight. They reportedly belong to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Outfit. He said the identity of the slain terrorists is yet to be ascertained.
