Anakin: [Poofs into existence mid air and falls flat on his face onto the ground]

Anakin: Ow, that hurt! [Lifts his head up] Obi-Wan? Whe- [See’s Ahsoka]

Anakin: Snips? Wow I must’ve hit my head really hard, you look old, and like really depressed. Like Obi-Wan when Cody drags him to the med bay.

Ahsoka: [Tears up but continues to silently stare]

Anakin: Uh, Snips?

Ahsoka: Shush, I’m waiting for the force vision part where you yell at me for failing you and leaving the order.

Anakin: Force vision? Snips you could never fail me- WAIT YOU WHAT?!

Ahsoka: Hm?

Anakin: How are you so calm??? My Ahsoka would be bouncing off the walls by now.

Ahsoka: I don’t feel anything. Too much has happened for a lifetime and I want to call quits. I’m for sure not your Ahsoka.

Anakin: Oh force. Where’s Obi-Wan?

Ahsoka: Probably Dead.

Anakin:

Anakin: What in the name of the force happened here?!

Ahsoka:

Ahsoka: You.

Anakin: To be fair that actually checks out.

Ahsoka: If you’re not a force vision could I get a hug please? The last person I hugged was Rex before I died for the second time.

I Always love thinking of the AUs where Anakin/Vader raises the twins, partially because of his immaculate dad T-shirts, and also I just love thinking of how he’d react to either of the twins dating a literal criminal (yk ignoring Anakin’s own numerous war crimes) cause I’m sorry Han but you don’t stand a chance

Anakin: ?...yeah? He does that? Lying is Obi-Wan's favourite sport. Bant told me that he was dropped on his head by Master Qui-Gon when he was a child and Master Qui-Gon was really tall, so the fall shook loose some things in his brain and now Obi-Wan is allergic to giving straight answers. It took me 3 years to figure out his favourite colour. and his birthday. 5 to figure out that he's allergic to shellfish. I once told a restaurant that Obi-Wan can't have shrimp and he told me to "stop giving information to the enemy". I've made a game of it really.

I've been having a codywan au running around my brain the last few days and I thought I'd share.

Let's imagine that Palpatine calculates his plan a bit differently and starts the Clone Wars about ten years earlier, just after the Naboo invasion. You end up with a young grieving Obi-Wan attempting to run a battalion and raise a precocious child at the same time.

Enter the 212th's competent, attractive Commander who is the only thing making Obi-Wan's life easier at the moment. Cody is a bit horrified at having a nine year old on their battle ship, but he does his best to help Obi-Wan create some structure and safety in Anakin's life. All of the clones enjoy having the little rascal around and are happy to watch Anakin while Cody and Obi-Wan do their evening paperwork. (If those paperwork sessions eventually become more like paperwork dates, well, no one's the wiser.) Anakin gets some sense of what healthy non-attached relationships look like through Cody and Obi-Wan's fumbling romance, so he doesn't end up eloping later in life. He's also relatively isolated from Palpatine's influence due to being stuck with Obi-Wan on the frontlines.

I'm sure that Anakin gets in several arguments with Obi-Wan and Cody about how useful he could be on the battlefield during the war if they just let him participate. I really enjoy the idea of Anakin yelling "You can't tell me what to do! You're not my dad! I've never had a dad!" at Cody.

Cody scratches the back of his neck and awkwardly says, "I don't have a dad either. Or a mom." And Anakin feels so bad that the clones didn't have a mom that he starts listening to Cody and Obi-Wan more often.

ruminating on vader further: i think after all these years of Total Cultural Dominance and of course the immense sympathy the prequel trilogy bathes him in, it's easy to overlook how terrified the original trilogy is of vader. he spends very little time as a character and much more as this creeping manifestation of everything our heroes dread. where there's dark, there's vader. where there's violence, there's vader. multiple shots position him against the vastness of space, almost blending into it, just this omnipresent demon. the jedi's plan is to get luke to kill him. that is all. obi-wan and yoda have spent ~2 decades of their lives hoping and praying and aspiring to getting luke to kill him. luke loving vader and bringing him to the light isn’t something they can even entertain, and they think any attempt will only lead to more darkness. it is the ultimate, near-supernatural feat for luke to do so. and even then, vader is in the light for about five minutes and dies in agony. it's why i can't take a lot of posts these days that fret over anakin being possessive or angry or people liking anakin seriously. like first of all, he is the greatest and most famous bottomless pit of misery in american cinema, no amount of anakin blogging will undo that, and he's not real. second of all, star wars works best when it's about this tension between vader as something unspeakable and evil, and vader as a real person that does love and has been loved in return. it's just what's like to have a dad, really,

I was thinking about how in the Sith Raised Anakin AU it would affect the other side of the characters, as in. Maul does get some positive growth by having little Ani around and even though they both know they, technically, have to kill each other when the moment comes (and it never does) there's still a mutual respect and fondness. Especially from Anakin's side because he was like a lost duckling and the least worst around was Maul.

So when in TCW Maul was going insane and said 'he's been groomed for this', in this AU that becomes 10x times more interesting because he's on the front seat and he's known Vader since he was just little scared Ani, and I can imagine him going "oh damn, this is Very Bad. Even for my standards.". And the most logical route would be want to try to help Anakin, but lol, i feel like he would just want to try to kill him anyways, but in this case it would be a mercy kill, or an attempted mercy kill.

HOWEVER this wasn't the point of this rambling, because I was actually thinking about Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan who as we all know didn't have the skills to be the parent of a hypertraumatized 9 years old boy. But this Obi-Wan has never had to deal with any of this, he has the trauma of Qui-Gon's death and living with that failure, but there wasn't any promise to carry on and no jealousy over Qui-Gon wanting to take a new padawan, and there wasn't any monumental task falling over his shoulders.

And all of this just makes me believe in this AU, Obi-Wan is just...much more immature. Like, he's almost exactly his same self as at the start of TPM. Like you wouldn't believe that's a 30-something years old, he still acts like the school's mean girl who's dating the mysterious jerk Maul, who's also the partial reason he can't fully go on because that jerk also killed his master

(no, is not real dating, is just a very 'oh My mortal enemy, i can't stop thinking about the moment i finally kill him ', but very gay).

So to summarize, Obi-Wan is just even more of a bitch in this AU, and probably isn't anywhere close of getting into the council, he didn't even kill Maul, what a loser (i love him)

Anakin clearly exhausted but sitting through the meeting: Yes Masters.

Mace: Skywalker, where is your padawan? She needs to give her report.

Anakin: She’s currently at the medbay, she was injur-

Echo bursting into the room: General! The Commander! She-

Anakin: [Let’s out the most exhausted sigh he’s let out on this whole meeting] She escaped the Medbay?

Echo: Yes general. Kix is leading the torrent to catch her. We could really use your help.

Obi-Wan: Seriously Anakin-

Rex: With all due respect General, Commander Cody himself tells me that you are worse.

Council: . . .

[Loud fighting noises are heard from outside, the sound of things falling over and stun bolt shots and lightsabers are heard]

Ahsoka clearly drugged yelling so loudly they hear it in the hologram room: KIX HAS MORE IMPORTANT PATIENTS! ITS JUST A FEW BLASTER BOLT WOUNDS! YOU’RE NOT TAKING ME ALIVE!!!!

Echo: That’s my cue to go leave. [Runs out of the room setting his gun to stun]

Anakin and Rex: We’re coming with you. [Follows Echo]

Council: [Concerned glances to one other]

ROTS AU where Padme is the one with nightmares and comes to the correct conclusion that it's because she's pregnant with a Force-sensitive baby. Now, having heard Anakin's Weird Parentage Backstory at one point or another, she comes up with a plan. she goes to the Jedi temple healers and announces that she's fairly certain she's pregnant with a Force-sensitive baby and needs a medical checkup. And when the inevitable questions about the identity of the baby daddy come up, she calmly tells them, "Well, that's the strangest part. There was no father."
