since you're so interested in filipino language, does it follow the structure of [subject + verb + object + extension] like english or does it break that structure? in bangla, we have the [subject+ verb + object + extension] but we also break that structure so basically we can have [subject + object + verb]. for example, we can use both "ami take dekhte chaina" which roughly translated is "i her don't want to see" based on how the sentence is structured. this is why i have such a hard time trying to follow the english structure of subject-verb-object and sometimes end up mixing both structures

to use your same example, the tagalog equivalent would be "ayaw ko siyang makita" or "ayaw kong makita siya" = i don't want to see them.

ayaw ko siyang makita: don't want (modifier) - my (subject) - them (object) - see (verb)

ayaw kong makita siya: don't want (modifier) - my (subject) - see (verb) - them (object)

the -ng suffix, which basically means that it's modifying, is shifted around according to the sequence of words ^^ it's kinda hard to explain in text sorry and im already super offtrack 😭

honestly, I'm not very equipped to discuss tagalog conjugation, because 1) my first and best language is english, and 2) it's so complex 😭 once saw a white guy discussing it here actually, its all in english!! ↓

my answer would be a yes, with caveat, because it's possible for a tagalog sentence to fall into this structure BUT there are many ways to structure a sentence in the first place

for your sample sentence of "i don't want to see her", i can't think of an un-nonsense way to fit it into that structure 😭 ayaw ko siyang makita/ayaw kong makita siya is the most natural way to say it imo. "ako ay (I am) ayaw (dont want) makita (see) siya (them)" sounds so weird

but hey, i could be wrong—disclaimer again, this is my 2nd language and not my 1st sgjdmfjf

i also struggle answering your question because it's kinda broad hsjdhdnd if you want a follow up maybe a more specific one would be easier 😓 unfortunately i wasnt able to pursue linguistics so i lack a lot of technical knowledge and terms which might have made this easier for us both huhu </3

What can an ill angel do in this world, si thought. Chat decided streaming chains words to the masses may be a good way. It'd solve that deep void in sick, craving any and all attention. Who knows, maybe cha could make someone obsess over charm and take kyute away from this cruel world, to be kept as a pet, of sorts. An angel shouldn't have to deal with all the mundane responsibilities of 'normal' life. And ce was an angel, so feli'd just have to spread cakes wings. Those delusions chipped at chirp, and even though they wore blossom down, they helped cute escape kyus own limitations. They were heaven sent, in candies mind. Cha started off small, making ug subliminal to gain followers and listening to them as kyu streamed. Si fanbase grew and grew, and so did chains desire for more and more love. Those desires consumed charm. Si would be the prettiest earth bound angel this world had ever seen.

50 for the ask game pls!! As I remember, you have Morgana and Nicholas, they were both very funny and cool in your drawings!

first things first, they were both pre-existing OCs that i decided to play as, rather than come up with a new guy on the spot. this is a disclaimer of sorts -- any similarities in design and naming between nicolas and a certain canon character are coincidental, i swear ! although, as i've come to joke : "the line is thin, between the nicc, and the micc"...

So, Nicolas, my blind first run - he's an alchemist, so I picked "professional" regardless of what stats it would give me, ending up with a skill + strength build in the long run. He uses the saw spear and pistol, and wears the student robes above the hunter set.

Being my first run in my first fromsoft, he's a fairly basic, generalist build, so now that I'm acquainted with the game i would like to experiment with beasthood gameplay - because lore-wise nicolas is supposed to be the "beast" to morgana's "arcane". I'd also like to play around with fire and electricity, being an alchemist and all. That will be for when i pick up his NG+ ...

Nicolas is quiet and mild-mannered, and unfuriatingly unreadable at times. Being a scholar, he's able to push on through The Horrors for the sake of his own curiosity ; I felt so validated when Simon told him that the Byrgenwerth spirit lived on within him...

Now Morgana. She's a witch, so naturally I took the class "cruel fate" for the arcane boost, though this would end up fitting for reasons I'll discuss further down. She uses the threaded cane and the blunderbuss - I know that when it comes to arcane the moonlight greatsword is right here, but in a game that introduced trick weapons, I am not interested in swishing Basic Big Fantasy Sword around X) her gear is completed by the Eye + Augur, with the Call and the Shell if I need extra firepower. Her default outfit is the doll shawl worn over the Yharnam hunter set.

As an OC, Morgana was heavily, unsubtly inspired by Bayonetta : she's skilled and confident, doing as she pleases in extravagant fashion ; so as I've mentionned before it's extremely fitting that, as my second run, she went through the game with far less trouble than Nicolas did ! (with some exceptions...)

Both foreigners, Morgana and Nicolas hunt as an elusive pair. The latter originally came to Yharnam to enroll in Byrgenwerth, but with the college shut down shortly after, together they pursued their own research on beasthood and arcane, independently from the Healing Church, thus branding them with heresy. They don't have sworn enemies, but don't aim to join any organization either. Just a power couple that mostly keeps to each other sdfghj

If I wanted to incorporate their (loose) original storyline in the game, Morgana would get the "Honoring Wishes" ending (not out of respect for the MP, merely didn't have what it takes to resist her) then bestow the "Yharnam Sunrise" ending upon Nicolas. The latter would awaken, keeping his memories at the cost of his humanity, to seek a hunter that would find the missing piece and succeed where they didn't. And if I pushed that crossover to the end, that hunter would be their daughter Amy, aka my main OC, haha !

A small addentum regarding Nicolas - as an OC he was less developed than Morgana when I started playing, so I ended up building him directly from his experiences as a hunter, and in turn, based my general headcanons for the Paleblood Hunter from him ! I wanted to mention it because it gets confusing in my early fanarts, but now they are distinct characters, even if I depict them with the same face/hairstyle and a similar personality. Here's a chart for better understanding :')

Not Amy making a post where she fully admits she doesn't always have the best judge of character (i.e about NG), but the self awareness stops juuuuuust short of realizing she may also be wrong about Georgia and Anna, because the way someone acts on social media does not always indicate the full picture. >_>

she’d have to evaluate the fact that she doesn’t do anything for the lgbtq community by fetishizing mxm relationships, that she’s infantizing and dehumanizing David and Michael, and that under it all she has a lot of misogyny and hate for two women who never deserved it. She will NEVER EVER EVER HAVE THAT SELF AWARENESS also I highly doubt this is self awareness and more of a desperate bid not to be cancelled for her actions when Neil gaiman was outed as a predator and abuser, so there’s that I guess.

also I think it’s really weird that she’s trying to equate her experiences to his victims (because even though she says she isn’t, she is) had she really believed them she wouldn’t have been “uwu let’s wait for more GOOD OMENS MY GOOD OMENS” (even though I’m so relieved nothing happened to her because as a survivor of sexual abuse, it’s the hardest thing to go through and I’m so glad that she never had to deal with that or what comes after)

How I feel about this character: I love Kaoru so much!! I love her design, her outfit is so beautiful and matches her so well, and her personality is really funny! She's definitely my favourite character from NG. \(^ヮ^)/

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Akira and... I think that's it, lol.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Her and Ami! Their friendship makes me so happy... \(;∀;)/ (Also her and Akira!)

My unpopular opinion about this character: I'm not sure...? I really liked her character in NG, and I prefer her over Seiji, but I'm not sure if that's an unpopular opinion or not... I also liked the romantic plot between her and Akira, so maybe that?

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: I think she deserves to get at least one autograph from a spirit like she's always talking about, lol.

hi ana do you perhaps have any recs for mother-daughter relationship pieces?

I don't seek out a lot of works on mother-daughter relationships (probably because they're a bit too close to home sometimes), but one I did love a lot when I first read it was Deborah Levy's novel Hot Milk (2016). It's the book which this line comes from:

However, the novel is from the adult daughter's perspective and the mother is pretty awful, so the relationship is more clearly portrayed as toxic. In that vein, if you want a really dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship, read Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects (2006).

Two books which interrogate mother-daughter relationships from both sides with more empathy are Celeste Ng's standalone novels Everything I Never Told You (2014) and Little Fires Everywhere (2017). I prefer the former over the latter, but both are worth reading (the tv adaptation of the latter is decent enough too).

Jeanette Winterson's novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (1985) and her memoir Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? (2011) both approach her relationship with religion as a queer woman and with her adoptive mother. Both are fantastic reads.

Rebecca Solnit's The Faraway Nearby (2013) sits somewhere between essays and memoir and everything under the sun, as is her way, but Solnit comes back to her relationship with her ailing mother throughout the book.

The central character in Kazuo Ishiguro's A Pale View of Hills (1982) is a woman reflecting on her daughter's suicide, and it's a beautiful little book, but obviously a difficult read.

Kiran Millwood Hargrave's The Island at the End of Everything (2017) is also beautiful and very sad at times. It's technically a middle grade book but I wouldn't let that stop you, Hargrave's writing is wonderful regardless of the age group she is writing for.

Though I haven't read either book yet, I know that Bernardine Evaristo's Girl, Woman, Other (2019) and Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club (1989) both feature mothers and daughters (or similar roles) as their core characters.

Finally, there's many beautiful novels which don't focus on mother-daughter relationships but do examine motherhood or other inter-generational relationships between women which are well worth reading: Homegoing (2016) by Yaa Gyasi, The Owl Killers (2009) by Karen Maitland, The Gracekeepers (2015) by Kirsty Logan (who also has an upcoming memoir on queer motherhood called The Unfamiliar), America is Not the Heart (2018) by Elaine Castillo, and The Mercies (2020) by Kiran Millwood Hargrave.
