Earth’s poles of inaccessibility.
by Ambamja
A pole of inaccessibility marks a location that is the most challenging to reach owing to its remoteness from geographical features that could provide access. Often it refers to the most distant point from the coastline, implying a maximum degree of continentality. The term describes a geographic construct, not an actual physical phenomenon.
The Eurasian pole of inaccessibility is contested and changes depending on which parameters are chosen to define it. Point Nemo shows the oceanic pole of inaccessibility, the point in the ocean the farthest away from land.
