29 April 2024: Princess Muna Al Hussein, Honourary Ambassador for Alzheimer’s Disease International, attended the launching of the World Alzheimer’s Conference in Poland’s Krakow.
Addressing the gathering, Princess Muna highlighted the global impact of Alzheimer’s disease, which affects millions of people worldwide, but has a relatively limited impact in the MENA region.
She emphasised the need for Jordan to develop a national strategy to combat Alzheimer’s disease and reaffirmed her commitment to raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and to supporting people with the disease, their families, and caregivers.
Princess Muna is the first ambassador for Alzheimer’s Disease International Orginisation from the Middle East and the fourth in the world, following Queen Silvia of Sweden, Queen Sofia of Spain, and former Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera.
According to the World Health Organisation, approximately 55 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s disease, and this number is expected to rise to 139 million by 2050.
In the MENA region, around 3 million people are currently living with Alzheimer’s, a figure that is expected to increase by 367 percent to more than 13.8 million cases by 2050.
Alzheimer-related challenges in Jordan include a lack of social awareness and limited resources for diagnosis, treatment, and care. Efforts are under way by the government and health organizations to increase awareness and resources.

Fic Author Self-Rec!
I was tagged by @agentmarymargaretskitz to talk about “five favorite fics that you’ve written” and I think this is such a fun idea! We all deserve to be proud of ourselves!
1. A Walk Through Hell: (Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow). An Arrow S2 canon divergence where Leonard Snart was one of the prisoners on board The Amazo. He meets and finds himself more or less responsible for Sara.
This one’s my favorite because it was my first venture into a hardcore canon divergence, and while rewatching Arrow S2 in order to write it I was surprised by how easily Leonard fit into everything.
2. A Second Chance: (Legends of Tomorrow). The sequel to A Walk Through Hell. A Legends S1 canon divergence where Leonard and Sara had already met/fallen in love on The Amazo.
Again, it was so much fun to write and gradually change how canon went down.
3. What’s Mine is Yours: (The Flash). Started writing/posting before the start of Season 6. After Frost has a one night stand with Mick Rory, Caitlin realizes she’s pregnant. She and Frost are just starting to navigate that when they discover that the baby has Frost’s genetics and in order for it to survive to term Frost must be the one on the surface. Frost - not being used to being the one with a life of her own - then has to decide what she wants and what she is willing to ask of other people. Fortunately she has Ralph to help her along the way.
I really think this one is some of my best work pacing-wise, and I find myself going back to it when I get stuck on my WIPS.
4. Watch Me (Do Just One Thing Right): (Criminal Minds) A canon divergence where Cat Adams never miscarried. At eight months pregnant she asks Spencer to come see her, so she can ask him if he’ll adopt the baby.
My first venture into the Criminal Minds fandom and absolutely reignited my love for writing!
5. Playing House: (Legends of Tomorrow). Written during S5. During a battle with a witch, all the Legends except for Sara and a newly returned Leonard are de-aged. Unfortunately the witch who cast the spell is the only one who can reverse it, and she isn’t easy to find. What’s worse, the longer the spell is in effect, the more the de-aged victims forget their adult lives.
This story was at first so challenging for me to write. I was so unsure of where it was going that I ended up giving up on it for seven months. I was convinced it was going to remain unfinished forever. But then I got a few comments on it so I decided it was worth trying to go back to, and it ended up being so therapeutic for me! We were in the height of the pandemic at this point, and I was helping my mom who was acting as a full-time caregiver for my grandma with severe Alzheimer’s. As the story went on I received a few comments saying I was writing the memory loss of the younger Legends as very “thoughtful and involved”, and when I stopped to think about it I realized I was writing the process I had witnessed over the past few years of my grandma losing her memory. It still makes me smile because I am happy with how it turned out, and it feels like my grandma got to be in the best parts of it.

Title: Embracing Elderly Care Homes: Providing Compassionate Support for Aging Loved Ones
Introduction:
As our loved ones enter their golden years, their needs for care and support may increase. In today's fast-paced world, many families face the challenge of balancing their own responsibilities with providing the necessary care for their aging relatives. Elderly care homes, also known as nursing homes or senior living communities, have emerged as a valuable solution for addressing the unique needs of elderly individuals. In this blog post, we will explore the concept of elderly care homes and shed light on the compassionate support they provide for our aging loved ones.
Meeting the Complex Needs of the Elderly:
Elderly care homes are designed to cater to the complex needs of aging individuals. These homes employ professional caregivers who are trained to provide assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, medication management, and mobility support. The staff members are well-versed in the specific needs and challenges that come with aging, ensuring that residents receive the care and attention they require.
Safety and Security:
One of the primary concerns for families with aging loved ones is their safety and security. Elderly care homes offer a secure environment with round-the-clock monitoring and support. With features like emergency response systems, secure entrances, and trained staff, these homes provide peace of mind for both residents and their families. The safety measures implemented within these homes contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life of the residents.
Social Interaction and Companionship:
Loneliness and isolation can significantly impact the mental and emotional well-being of the elderly. Elderly care homes provide a supportive community where residents can interact with peers, form meaningful friendships, and engage in social activities. Group outings, recreational programs, and shared spaces within the homes foster a sense of belonging and combat feelings of isolation, ensuring that residents maintain an active social life.
Holistic Health and Wellness:
Elderly care homes prioritize the holistic well-being of their residents. Alongside physical care, these homes often offer access to various amenities and services that promote overall health and wellness. This may include fitness programs, therapy services, wellness activities, and nutritious meals tailored to meet the dietary needs of seniors. The focus on holistic health enables residents to maintain their independence and enjoy a fulfilling life.
Personalized Care and Dignity:
Every individual is unique, and elderly care homes understand the importance of personalized care. Care plans are tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each resident. This personalized approach ensures that residents receive the care and support necessary for their well-being while preserving their dignity and individuality. Respect for autonomy and the involvement of residents in decision-making are key aspects of the care provided in these homes.
Respite for Family Caregivers:
Caring for aging loved ones can be physically and emotionally demanding for family members. Elderly care homes provide respite for family caregivers, allowing them to take breaks, pursue their own interests, and recharge. Knowing that their loved ones are receiving professional care and support can relieve the stress and burden experienced by family caregivers, fostering healthier relationships and improving overall family dynamics.
7. Expertise and Specialized Care:
Elderly care homes like The Golden Estate often have access to a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and social workers. This expertise ensures that residents receive specialized care and support for their specific medical conditions or needs. Additionally, the homes may offer memory care units for individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia, providing a safe and supportive environment for those with cognitive impairments.
Emotional Support and Counseling:
The emotional well-being of residents is a priority in elderly care homes. These homes often provide emotional support and counseling services to residents, helping them navigate the challenges that come with aging. Trained professionals offer a listening ear, guidance, and strategies for managing emotional and psychological issues, ensuring that residents feel heard, understood, and supported.
9. Continuity of Care and Medical Support:
Elderly care homes prioritize the continuity of care for their residents. They work closely with healthcare providers to ensure that medical needs are met effectively. This includes regular health assessments, medication management, and coordination with external healthcare professionals as needed. The presence of trained medical staff within the homes ensures that residents receive prompt and appropriate medical attention, promoting their overall health and well-being.
10. Activities and Enrichment Programs:
To foster a vibrant and engaging environment, elderly care homes offer a variety of activities and enrichment programs. These may include fitness classes, arts and crafts, cultural events, educational workshops, and recreational outings. By providing opportunities for residents to pursue their interests and engage in meaningful activities, these homes promote mental stimulation, creativity, and a sense of purpose.
11. Transition Support and Adaptability:
Transitioning to an elderly care home can be a significant change for both residents and their families. However, these homes are equipped to support individuals throughout the transition process. They provide guidance, emotional support, and assistance in adapting to the new environment. The staff members understand the challenges associated with this transition and work collaboratively with residents and their families to ensure a smooth adjustment and a sense of belonging.
12. End-of-Life Care and Support:
Elderly care homes also offer end-of-life care and support for residents who require palliative or hospice care. They provide compassionate and dignified care during this sensitive time, ensuring that residents and their families receive the necessary emotional, physical, and spiritual support. This approach allows residents to spend their final days in a comfortable and supportive environment, surrounded by caring professionals and loved ones.
13. Family Involvement and Communication:
Elderly care homes recognize the importance of family involvement in the care and well-being of their residents. They encourage open communication and actively involve family members in care planning, decision-making, and regular updates about their loved ones. This collaborative approach fosters trust, transparency, and a sense of partnership between the homes and families, ensuring that residents receive the best possible care and support.
Conclusion:
Elderly care homes play a crucial role in providing compassionate support and care for our aging loved ones. By understanding the benefits they offer—such as meeting complex needs, ensuring safety and security, promoting social interaction, prioritizing holistic health, preserving dignity, providing respite for family caregivers, offering expertise and specialized care, and giving emotional support—we can embrace the concept of elderly care homes as a positive option for our aging population. Among the obstacles of obtaining medical marijuana is determining that is permitted to expand it, as well as how much they can expand. The states which have legalized marijuana for medical use have applied standards for whether and also how much marijuana a person is allowed to possess or grow. Points are a little bit more made complex for dispensaries. Thailand permits caregivers and patients to develop cooperatives to expand the plants, however a lot of the product which reaches the market is grown on small "ranches" which still run outside the law.
Recently a huge store specializing in info and supplies opened Thailand. The store does not sell any type of marijuana, nor any kind of plants. There are some plants on screen however they are had by licensed individuals and also will certainly be eliminated prior to they bud. Accredited Dispensaries, Opening a medical marijuana dispensary entails a little work. In each of the states where the sale of medical marijuana is legalized the demands are a bit various. Organizations should look for a permit and also offer proof that the shop is either possessed by the company or that the leaser has actually accepted the business. Some states need a safety and security plan to be drawn up, or request tax documents and so forth. One of the largest difficulties encountering these legal businesses is acquiring the complete range of organization services, such as seller accounts for processing charge card sales or savings account, considering that marijuana is only legal on the state degree, not at the government level. Possibly the best disagreement that the government will reply to is the prospective tax base that medical marijuana will produce. In hard financial times it is tough to turn away any resource of much necessary earnings.
