TV SHOW REVIEW: The End Of The F***ing World
★★★★★ - 5 stars
"I've just turned eighteen and I think I understand what people mean to each other."
Thriller meets coming of age in The End Of The F***ing World - a disturbing yet brilliant depiction of troubled teenagers, based on the comics of the same name by Charles Forman. It follows two socially inept main characters: Alyssa, who has no filter, and James, who barely speaks and is pretty sure he is a psychopath. When James and Alyssa clash together and slowly begin to fall in love, they find themselves at the crux of a series of disconcerting events that result in their downward spirals. This is one of the most well-written TV shows of the modern era. It has amazing cliffhangers that will have you gasping and screaming at the screen as you desperately click to play the next episode and an ever-twisting plot that leaves you on edge. The most poignant subplot is undoubtedly the introspective take it has on mental health, shown especially towards the denouement of the show as a whole; it's even more hard hitting through the award-worthy acting. Dark, sardonic, and sarcastic in its humour, The End Of The F***ing World is perfect for fans of I Am Not Okay With This and Skins. It's a rollercoaster of crime, love, and teenage struggle that you should definitely add to your watchlist.

Fictober day 27: You could have died!
Original writing Eternal Conflict
“You could have died!”
Alyssa raised her eyebrow at her foster father’s words. He was acting like this was the first time human nature could escalate her job like that. The entire case was to prove if a woman was being stalked by someone. No one believed she had a stalker so Alyssa took the job.
She reported who it was to the police and even informed the client. No one expected the stalker to get jealous like that. He had pulled out a gun at the last moment.
It was thanks to my quick thinking that no one got shot. I wouldn't even get involved if the police did their job.
“Your acting like I asked for my client’s stalker to be crazy like that. If you can recall, I even reported it to the police, Steven.” She glared as the other officers were wrapping things up.
He flinched a bit at her tone of voice. “Yet the officers who showed up also tried to shoot you. There are times you just have to back off.”
She knew what he meant. The stalker had the presence of a good upstanding citizen. He even volunteered at the local hospital. Nothing about it changed what he was doing to her client. That was the entire reason she was called in.
Give me more time and I would have also proved the man was also a pedophile. All this situation does is prove that I need to invest in a body camera. The money I don't exactly have.
“If I backed off then we really would have a dead body, and it wouldn't be mine. I did my job, and I even reported my findings to the police. Corruption in your department should be your job to figure out." She sighed as the conversation was starting to get pointless.
Steven paused as he knew she made a good point. “Not everything requires you have to risk your life. You could have at least had someone else there.”
That's assuming people like working with me. He does know what client protection privileges are right?
Her eyes narrowed. "My client was willing to risk her life to take this case to me. All from the fact, no one gave her the time of day when she went to the police. I listened and didn't write off her claim. I make this a policy of mine. If a client of mine is willing to risk their lives, then I will show the same courtesy."
He just paced around a bit before admitting a silent form of defeat. In reality, he’s still the one who raised her. A lot of his worry just came from the fact it was her in danger. She was set on still running her office, and all he could do was tell her to be careful.
“Can you at least promise to visit home now and then? I'll at least worry less."
Alyssa sighed as she checked her phone. "I'm not telling you not to worry. Just trust I know what I'm doing. Though if it makes you feel better, I'll make time to visit."
I always walk away with far too much food every time I come back. Maybe then people will believe I'm adopted.

The Other Kids in my Two Worlds Apart universe, and Their Parents (Mostly), Side by Side:
@lily-267, thank you so much for young Betsy's faceclaim!
Fez...
And Laurie:
Adrian (Dylan O'Brien): Physically favors Fez in the browline and the eyes. The lips too, but he has much more of an awkward Forman smile. Has Laurie's nose, cheekbones, and general face shape. Skin color is somewhere between Fez and Laurie's, and his hair is dark brown (instead of jet black). He doesn't have much of his parents in him personality wise, though. He's a Forman, through and through. He's short like Fez, but he's built like a young Red. Slender, but fairly athletic. He loves soccer and baseball (it started off with T-Ball, with Red by his side), and is mechanically inclined. With a love for tinkering with computers and video games.
And Rhonda (I couldn't find a decent quality in-character pic for the life of me):
Ashley (Josie Loren): Looks a lot like Fez, but with slightly lighter skin and more angular features (like her mother, Rhonda). Is slender, highly flexible, and is a great dancer, like Fez.
PS: Ashley's name comes from Rhonda's mother's (Judith's) maiden name Ashley. Judith's from Mississippi, and Rhonda's father Alfred was one of the earliest Freedom Riders (he's white, btw).
Kelso and Brooke:
Betsy (young, Lily Sanfelippo. adult, Minka Kelly): Looks a lot like Brooke, but with Kelso's coloring and less angular features (a fuller face, mainly). She has major Punky Brewster vibes as a kid, with some Alyssa Milano vibes as a teen and as an adult.
Hannah (Lyndsy Fonseca): Is blue-eyed and cool-toned, like her grandmother Carolyn and her uncle Casey. Looks more like Kelso when she's younger, but her mother's genes kick in when she gets older (that jawline and smile become more prominent).
PS: Although they both favor opposite parents, they still look like sisters, if you know what I mean. :)

Fictober day 26: I’m sure the has never worked, ever
Original writing Eternal Conflict
“You should pay me for emotional damages.”
Alyssa just looked at this person almost confused as to why they were still hanging around in the office. She solved the job they received, but now they seem insistent that they weren't going to pay their invoice.
Just denying everything when something doesn't go your way? It seems I had my time wasted on a child having a temper tantrum.
She sighed as she pointed to the door. "Then you can see yourself out of my office. Since your refused your invoice, that means I have more work to do."
“Maybe if you did your job. Though after my review, you won't be able to do business ever again. It will serve you right." They almost looked proud of themselves.
I did my job. It’s not my fault they were also trying to scam their employer with fake sexual harassment claims.
She shook her head. "I'm sure this has never worked, ever. So please excuse yourself out."
The age where she would be scared of a bad online review is long past. Online reviews were easy to take care of. That was the reason she had cameras installed. It was the legal issues that came with the missed invoice did with her tax statement.
They turned red with anger as they stared down at Alyssa. "You can't do anything without hearing from my lawyers."
They quickly stormed out of the office, leaving the detective with a growing headache. It was too much effort placed just to ruin her reputation. As always, she got to work on the solution. That just left her without any free time for other jobs.

My First Time Watching 'Captain America: the First Avenger'
Part I in the My First Time Watching… the MCU series, in which contributor Alyssa watches all of the Marvel Universe movies in chronological order.
So, I haven’t seen any Marvel movies. I know! I promise I haven’t been living in a bunker. Superheros have never been something I was interested in, so I’m going into this almost blind. To be honest, all I know is that Chris Evans is really good at twitter and that him and Jenny Slate used to date. Anyway, let’s do this thing!
Okay, it's snowing, and it looks like the beginning of an alien movie I’ve seen, don’t remember which one
Ohhhhhhhh the shieldddddddddddd
Okay, 1942, interesting
Captain America is from the 40s right? I HAVE seen many a tumblr gifset about this
Pro tip, if the first shot of a character is their boots walking on cobblestones with menacing music in the background, they’re bad news
Why does Mr. Filch care so much about this skeleton
A……….. cube?
And an Odin mention? This is already A Lot
Ah, a vaguely threatening blue light
Okay, I might be giving away my lack of knowledge of the film industry here, but how exactly did they make Chris Evans look like that
He does not look right my dudes
His…. head is strange? Is he literally supposed to be like four feet tall? Like, I get he’s pre Captain America here and should be pretty underwhelming but… I’m sorry, moving on now
Sebastian Stan?
Who else was creeped out by him in I, Tonya? Major yikes
CLARA?!
Awww Jenna Coleman is in this! for like 30 seconds, but still
Mustache dude looks a little like Eric Forman from That 70’s Show
I know enough that this dude is Tony Stark’s dad, be proud everyone
Got a feeling that Stanley Tucci is gonna be important here
Honestly, when is Stanley Tucci not important in a movie?
Trust me Steve, it’s totally okay to kill Nazis
Ya know, I miss the days when the Nazis were actually portrayed as the bad guys. Sad!
Okay, the strange blue light is some kind of power source
YAS PUNCH HIM RIGHT IN THE FACE GURL
Okay, that flag thing was pretty clever
I’m so sorry, but when Peggy said “My grandmother has more fight in her, God rest her soul” ALL I could think of was Gordon Ramsay’s legendary “My gran can do better, and she’s dead”
I’m Very Upset that they have Peggy using “ladies” and “girls” as insults though
Hey, Trump fans, please pay attention to Stanley Tucci talking about how Hitler got his start
Are they gonna mention that Hitler was actively looking for Atlantis during WWII? It’s real, look it up
SOMEBODY GET THAT KID A SANDWICH
Oh wow, that machine even managed to perfectly oil his chest, impressive
Peggy is so funny omg
Okay but WHY is there one vial left? That seems so stupid? Like use them all or don’t put it in there?
AWW THE OLD LADY
How many weeks of eating only chicken breast and asparagus did Chris Evans have to commit to for this?
I love that they’ve succeeded in this crazy medical experiment and the FIRST thing they do is have him sell shit, thanks so much Capitalism™
Okay, so he’s gonna go save Bucky
Love how he just… casually jumps out of a plane that’s being shot at
You know, they’ve all been acting like he’s brave and I’m starting to wonder if he’s just dumb
WHY does he have that dumb shield
He honestly should just have a giant sign that says “I’M SNEAKING IN”
Wow what a coincidence, he finds Bucky
Was Bucky being like, experimented on?
Me, drunk on Christmas, when the cousins I haven’t seen in ten years show up
Ohhh this dude also got the serum???!!!
Nice, red Voldemort
It's not a superhero movie without a dramatic “he really never should have made that” jump over a fiery explosion in slow motion
Natalie Dormer is also in this????
And she’s not afraid to go after what she wants lmao
Is.. is vibranium the stuff from Black Panther?
Bucky seemingly falling to his death WOULD be very sad, but I know he survives this in some kind of capacity (again, thank you Tumblr)
Even if I didn't know he survives I would have guessed it tbh, that seemed like a really anticlimactic death scene
Wait, when did they capture the doctor guy? Did I miss that?
Oh, this is the plane he was found in in the beginning of the movie huh
This is a good time to mention that being thrown out of a plane (or anything) at an extreme height is like, my worst fear
That and the current political climate
Ohh, I see, he crashes it on purpose
He couldn’t have like, landed it gently somewhere? Or parachuted out of there? I feel like there are a lot of other options
This is gonna be unpopular, but why does he have her picture? Like, they never even dated? Did they even really know each other?
There was definitely a level of cheesiness in this movie that made it less enjoyable for me, not gonna lie
I guess that’s pretty common with superhero movies though?
Oh, they found the blue square of death, good
And he wakes up in the modern day, how absolutely terrifying
At least he didn’t wake up post 2016, can you imagine explaining THAT?
Overall, this was just okay. I’m sorry! Don’t hate me! Maybe I’ll me a Marvel superfan after this, who knows? Anyway, remember to punch your local Nazi everyone <3
Alyssa’s rating: 🐝🐝🐝
