Natchiyar Thirumozhli is a compilation of 143 verses of Shri Andal. This is part of the great work of Natchiyar Thirumozhi. Vaaranan Aayiram consisting of 10 verses of Thirumozhi written at her age of 15. She was bought up by Periazhlar another Vaishnavaite saint; she deeply fell love with the Lord Ranganatha. It relates the sequences of her dream of getting married to the Lord to her friend... The beauty of these verses lies in the fact that any young woman on the threshold of marriage of this present times can identify herself with Andal, transcending time, class, and other barriers. Apart from the astonishing literary merit of these verses that are dripping with Bhakti, what is amazing is the rituals of the marriage mentioned 1200 years earlier are still followed with the same enthusiasm even today. In the 10 stanzas, she makes reference to the 10 important steps of the marriage ceremony viz. . So a week ago my roommate and I were going through songs on Spotify to listen to while we were studying. We were bored of our usual playlists, one thing led to another and we found this song called Govinda by a 90′s British rock band called Kula Shaker.  

Upon research I found that the band was known for its interest in Indian music. In fact two of its most famous songs, Govinda and Tatta, had Sanskrit lyrics. Further, many of their songs featured Indian instruments like the tabla and the sitar. On top of all that, their band name is inspired by King Kulashekhara Alwar, a tamil saint-saint like king from about 3102 B.C.

Anyways back to one of their hit songs and the one my roommate and I stumbled upon - Govinda. 

The song itself is very slow, repeating the same few lines over and over again with traditional Indian instruments weaving with the lyrics. The lyrics (which are in Sanskrit) and a loose translation I found follow:

Govinda Jaya Jaya Gopala Jaya Jaya

All glories to Govinda all glories to Gopala. Here Govinda (supreme lord) and Gopala ( boy who tends cows) reference to Lord Krishna. 

Radha-ramanahari Govinda Jaya Jaya

Glories to Govinda and Radha-ramanahari ( one who favors Radha). 

Nrsingadeva Jaya Nrsingadeva (twice) (repeat verse) Gaura Gaura Gaura Hari

Glories to Nrsingadeva ( Krishna when he adopts a lion head and a human body) and glories to Gaura Haria ( the golden supreme). 

Gaura Hari Prabhupda Govindam

The golden supreme, the supreme lord.

So from this loose translation it can be noted that there are many names being used to describe Lord Krishna - most of them as bahuvrihis. Example: one who adores Radha or one who tends cows.

The music video also has traces of Krishna, showing blurred images of a boy and girl (Krishna and Radha) as well as peacock feather - a strong motif for Lord Krishna.

The song is pretty catchy and it does praise Lord Krishna. Further, it is very common to praise the lord through songs in the Indian culture. But what are your thoughts on the way Kula Shaker did it?
