Just a thought that a traveling Mogul could have met with some interesting people during the many years that he chose to live in obscurity following his initial efforts at conquest. SEGA CLASSICS ARE DELISTING DECEMBER 6TH !

Not art but PLEASE go buy any of the Sega Classics Games you like from the steam Dreamcast collection and more as they're being delisted December 6th, 2024. I know I rant and rave about how terrible sc5 pt 2 and jet set radio are on steam but this is the only easily accessible way to buy some of these games (sc5 pt 2 especially!!!) now that the xbox360 store is down too. You can read more about it here, its not just games being delisted from steam they're being delisted in a ton of places seemingly.

Altered Beast Review (Sega Genesis)

Plain and straight to the point: this game rocks. I love everything about it. I used to play this game alot at my local arcade that used to be in the mall in my town. Got pretty good at it too and even beat it there, sunk some quarters and probably way too many honestly but it was all worth it in the end. This game can simultaneously be frustratingly difficult and really fun at the same time which is a hard combination to master.

Oh lawd was i altering them beasts. I played most of the levels through with my wife using the level select codes to give us some extra health but it was all for naught, I was simply too rusty. We were able to get through 3 of the 5 levels together before we gave up and I just used the infinite lives trick in solo to complete the game. That's what you gotta do when you can't just sink some money into the machine instead.

So Altered Beast where to begin. You play as a scrawny dude who apparently needs a snickers or something he's simply got quite the temper. You have a punch and a kick and like a weird up kick thing to attack enemies. Enemies range from zombies to skeletons and weird serpants that come out of the ceiling and floor to suprise kill you so ya lots of cute stuff. You go through the levels punchin and a kickin until you get to this Dracula lookin dude (I don't know the lore) and if your in your beast form it starts a boss battle with one of his changed forms and if not it's another cycle of level until your in your form.

Which gets me to the games main gimmick which is this elusive beast form. One of the enemies are these blue wolf things that show up every one in a while and when you kill them they drop these power orbs that once collected powers you up. Collect three of these and you will turn into whatever beast is attributed to that level. I feel I won't spoil all the beast forms here but they are all cool and unique and have there own strengths. The cute teddy bear one is especially OP.

That's pretty much the gist of it. Altered Beast is a staple of the Sega Genesis and a must have for any owner of it. It doesn't take long to get through it your good and doesn't overstay it's welcome for too long. All good fun from start to finish
