I was watching that new King Candy video on YouTube by Randomalistic and it got me thinking a lot about Wreck-It Ralph again, specifically about some background lore of the universe and the entire concept of the code and what it means to be alive in the arcade.

In this scene specifically, we are literally shown that code equals what is going on in the game. In the entire movie, "the code" is referenced like a god. You follow the code, you will be okay. If not, well... that could mean the end to either yourself or your world.

It's interesting to note that by dying outside your game you don't regenerate, yet manipulating the code itself like King Candy did didn't "delete" Vanellope. She was just made a glitch, which seems like a reasonable consequence of trying to delete her code. Perhaps it could explain why she couldn't leave the game Sugar Rush itself because her code was unstable, so the world's natural instruction to preserve her and itself would be to not allow her to leave.

But going beyond rules of the world of Wreck-It Ralph for a second, this is a cool reference to basic programing, which is essentially designing data into a sequence that a computer can interpret and execute. While the characters in Wreck-It Ralph are very much programs, they are also meant to be alive, and so, as this smart guy named Podolsky once said, "[there is a] counterpart for every element of the physical world." I don't remember where I read this part, but there were scientists talking about subatomic theory and how everything existing or anything that has existed is in some sort of quantum blueprint, parallel and expressing you, me, and that dog pissing on your tree outside into existence.

I AM GETTING TO MY POINT NOW

So my theory is that while a character may die and be unable to regenerate if something happens to them while they are outside their game, this doesn't necessarily mean that their code still doesn't exist.

Vanellope's code was attempted to be destroyed by King Candy, but that plot was a failure. He couldn't even modify existing code, like possibly changing the color of the salmon room or redesign Vanellope's kart because that's just what the code dictates. It's there and its permanent.

King Candy being an invader to Sugar Rush makes him not part of the game, and thus even though he was able to create an insert Sugar Rush character for himself to inhabit or essentially a "skin" to wear if you wanna be creepy about it, at the end of the movie he is gone. Dead as a door nail. He has no original code to refer back to because Turbo Time was unplugged, so he doesn't even have a source code that even remembers him as an individual. It's like a second death.

i feel when they meet, despite being immortal beings that have experienced more than the human mind could ever comprehend, aziraphale and crowley react to an anthropomorphic talking blue hedgehog that’s suddenly falling into their world like any other human beings: they are TERRIFIED

well. terrified as one can be at 15 year old pubescent teenage hedgehog. because after their initial fear, they’re just. Fucking confused at him and his existence; how does a creature come to be in this world? they’d ask their respective sides if they didn’t want to deal with the mess that comes with it

sonic claims that he's “used to being isekaied” (“whatever that means,”crowley mumbles) and he’ll be “fine on his own” (“fine my arse!”) but aziraphale INSISTS that the lad has a roof under his bed because anthropomorphic hedgehog or not, he is NOT letting a teenager be homeless

sonic initially thinks aziraphale is kinda overbearing and crowley is way too overprotective bc like. He’s fine! hes dealt with situations more extreme than being transported to another world (my man (gender neutral) literally DIED & was tortured for 6 months straight in a war) yet hes getting help here; it almost feels like hes being looked down on and he does NOT appreciate it

he doesn’t reject their help but he’s not the most receptive either. whenever aziraphale tries to have tea breaks, he’s “away” (out on a run) or asleep (coincidentally the same time it’s tea time)

it’s only when aziraphale catches him browsing his books and jovially gives him a few book recommendations of his own (because bookworms never have just One Rec) that he lets the two in. it’s when he starts to genuinely like the two

one fact that goes untalked about is that sonic is an AVID reader. like. my hedgehog canonically has read WAR AND PEACE in the wreck it ralph 2 movie. so getting his own personal recommendation from aziraphale means a lot. he can not only have new literature but better understand aziraphale as a being—not angel or demon, but just being. book recs can say a lot about a person after all

eventually accumulates to aziraphale bonds and sonic bonding over books. aziraphale loves giving him recommendations—but ironically, has to slow down for him bc my speedy boy (gender neutral) is what i hc as a slow reader (opposite of a bookworm).

in essence, aziraphale adjusts his reading speed accordingly so sonic can keep up with him, much like sonic does for his friends (tails). something something parallels <3 they have tea and biscuits when they’re done with a book and discuss it together. aziraphale loooves talking about the deep meanings of things, while sonic enjoys listening to him. he also listens to aziraphale talk about book bindings and smile, simply bc it reminds him of his home (wherever his friends are: tails)

crowley sees all this bonding and is secretly like 🥺🥺 bc it’s not often u see aziraphale so. Doting in regards to his special interest (books, especially book collections) so he gets sonic more books for him to read. or in aziraphale’s case, keep in his bookstore. sonic isn’t much of a hoarder so he’s like. “you can sell them when i’m done” but both are too attached to the symbolism

Writing Romance: Opposites Attract

One of the most widespread among romantic tropes is opposites attract, and with good reason. When a couple are opposites, they’re meant to be one of a few things to each other: 1. An inverse reflection of each other. 2. Compliment each other 3. Cover each other’s shortcomings

In a sense, a good Opposites Attract serves to turn two incomplete people into one solid force. If they’re a battle couple, they’ll tend to fight very well together, often balancing force and finesse, melee and ranged, or physical and magical abilities. If the show or book has a lot of time dedicated to foils and character moments, they are more likely to be the ones that each other lean on, since their opposing characters makes them interesting to react off one another. Their roles, story arcs, and backstories tend to run opposite or parallel to one another depending on the series. If one character’s arc is to mature and become more responsible, likely their partner’s arc might be to learn to loosen up and have fun, learn to trust people, or to face a trauma in their past that made them so mature at a young age.

In terms of design, opposites attract partners tend to be inverse in color schemes. Light and dark hair or eyes, warm and cool color schemes, clashing or complimentary fashion styles, etc. The degree in opposition also varies. Some opposites attract look very similar with only a slight difference, indicating that something small is what set them on different paths in life but are otherwise very similar, almost as two sides of the same coin. Other couples are stark contrasts with virtually nothing in common to really emphasize their differences so that they can better make each other whole, as shown very literally through the character of Garnet in Steven Universe. 

Femme and Butch

While typically, you’re mostly going to see this in femmeslash/yuri pairings, this dynamic is actually fairly universal. This divide focuses on a pairing where each couple reflects the values of masculinity and femininity. Although mostly used as lesbian terms, a femme and butch pairing can also be gay or heterosexual. A fashion-loving twink who cries during romantic movies dating a jock who likes sports and drinks beer is still an example of Femme and Butch. Heterosexual is rather obvious, but can also be inversed, with a tough, assertive woman partnered with a sweet, sensitive man, such as Calhoun and Felix in Wreck-It Ralph. A Femme and Butch pairing doesn’t need to check off every box on this list of traits, but these traits tend to be common in these types of relationships.

Brains and Brawn

Also known as Jock and Nerd, this romantic dynamic prioritizes the usefulness of both intelligence and brute strength. Another variation is Book Smarts vs Street Smarts. The Brains will be good at doing research, organizing, and will tend to fight more strategically while the Brawn is primarily going to be good at fighting and likely protecting the Brains from serious harm. Princess and Bodyguard is another possible example of this dynamic, albeit a little less directly.

Hot and Cold

Hot or Warm characters tend to be friendly, outgoing, upbeat, loudmouthed, temperamental, boisterous, and battle-ready. Cold or Cool personalities tend to be shy, calm, quiet, logical, reserved, serious, and emotionally withdrawn. However, while these extreme opposites of hot-head and cold-shoulder balance each other out, it’s worth discussing same heat relationships. Kiribaku is an example of a Hot/Warm relationship, as Bakugou Katsuki is an angry little spitfire with an aggressive streak, while Kirishima Eijirou is a happy-go-lucky sweetheart with a good attitude. This is sort of the same concept, just that both boys are on the warm side of the spectrum, with Kirishima being the cooler counter to Bakugou’s temperamental hot-head. This also works inversely, as the ship Tododeku is a Cold/Cool relationship. Midoriya is a shy, but upbeat young man who tends not to draw too much attention to himself, while Todoroki is stoic, logical, and a bit dense socially. In this case, Midoriya is Cool while Todoriki is Cold, with Midoriya serving as the “Hot” aspect of their relationship as the more friendly and outgoing of the two.  

Light and Shadow

This archetype is often used as a “opposite sides of the same coin” format, where the characters serve as foils to one another. In Teen Titans, Raven’s powers are dark and demonic, while Starfire’s are bright and extraterrestrial. Both girls get their powers from their emotions, but where Starfire revels in her emotions to make her powerful, Raven must suppress her emotions to retain control of her powers. As the only two girls, they stick out as the obvious foils of the group. Many times, when this trope appears, it’s in the form of Classic Paragon Hero vs Cynical Anti-Hero. Superman and Batman are a great example. Superman is a boyscout token good guy, while Batman is a brooding loner. One is the hope for justice and goodness to always triumph while the other acknowledges that people are flawed, and maybe not everyone deserves to be saved. Naruto is interesting because he has two dark reflections. The first is Sasuke. While Naruto is the golden-haired idealist who befriends villains almost as often as Steven Universe, Sasuke is a dark counter consumed by a thirst for vengeance and the power to exact it. Naruto’s other dark counter however is Gaara. Both are Jinchuriki, but whereas Naruto eventually found friends and love in his fellow genin, Gaara was very much still alone when he met Naruto, reflecting what Naruto could have become without that love and support in this life.

Protagonist and Rival

Another case of “two sides of the same coin”, most anime protagonists and their rival tend to either have very similar backstories, very similar motivations, or very similar personalities, if not some combination of the three. Both Naruto and Sasuke were abandoned in the world at a young age with the Hokage looking out for them from afar. Naruto started off having nobody, and was always reaching out hoping to connect with anyone. Meanwhile, Sasuke started with a family and lost it, and decided to keep everyone at arm’s length and isolate himself further. Rin Okumura and Ryuji Suguro are practically the same person. Both lost their families and homes due to Satan, both are strong-willed loudmouthed tough guys with a knack for leadership, and both share the goal of killing Satan. Natsu Dragneel is immature and battle-ready, but while Grey Fullbuster at least pretends to be above it, he’ll jump into a fight with Natsu practically unprompted. The main appeal of the anime protagonist and his rival is that they push each other to succeed, often coming from very similar roots, but where they end up is entirely up to the effort they put in and the path they choose to take. They both refuse to lose to each other, and that propells them to constantly want to out-do each other.

Sweet and Sour

My best friend and I are polar opposites in this sense. When we met, she was far too trusting, submissive, and far too forgiving. Meanwhile, I was a lot more cynical, mean-spirited, and unfortunately, a little more closed-minded than I’d like to admit. After five years of friendship, my friend is far more assertive, has a lot more confidence in herself, is a lot better at handling criticism, and rather than just submitting in an argument, she now has the nerve to get in someone’s face and make her point heard. Because of her, I’ve become less stand-offish, more patient and polite, less of a control freak, more aware of valuing other people’s emotions, and more tolerant of a group I hadn’t realized I’d been intolerant toward. We saw the world in such distinctly different ways that we have managed to rub off on each other, and now we’re both such stronger and more complete people for having known each other.

Serious and Goofball

A classic comedy duo, the comedian and the straight man. The Goofball character tends to be immature, a knucklehead, a jokester, and comes off as a bit inexperienced. Meanwhile, the Serious character tends to be mature, responsible, disciplined, but comes off as a bit aloof. The Goofball reminds the Serious character to have a little fun every once in a while, while the Serious character reins in the Goofball before they hurt themselves or somebody else.

Hero and Sidekick

The hero has their act together and the sidekick is just doing their best. This happens a lot in Action movies where the handsome tough guy and the hapless damsel (who he kidnaps a little too often for my liking) is just kind of along for the ride. The two live in entirely different worlds. Sometimes this comes in the variant of Starlet and Manager where one in the relationship takes center stage while the other is content to help them run their life, promote their career, and help them. Another variation is Superstar and Random Extra, wherein one person leads a very visible life in the public eye being adored by millions of fans while their partner works 9-5 in an office dealing with insurance claims. Although they coe from very different worlds and lead very different lives, that doesn’t mean they still haven’t found love in an unlikely place. Often, the reason the hero or big shot loves this random nobody is because they fell in love with them before they ever became famous, or they didn’t know/care who the celebrity was and just liked them as a person without interest in using their celebrity to climb the social ladder.

Loud and Quiet

She’s quirky, outgoing, bubbly, energetic, and talkative. Too talkative. She never shuts up. He’s quiet, simple, down-to-earth, and calm. Too Calm. He never gets excited. This pairing works to push and pull each other until they’ve harmonized. The Quiet one will be pulled out of their shell and learn to be more open and talkative, while the Loud one will learn to think before they act. This couple is divided along lines of Introversion and Extroversion, and together can navigate the anxiety-triggering unease of a social gathering, and finding joy and pleasure in just enjoying each other’s company without needing to fill the silence with pointless chatter.

To be fair, many Opposites Attract couples will fit into more than one of these archetypes, and there’s probably more I didn’t list. But if you’re wanting to create a couple that balances each other out, I hope you find this helpful to you in your writing.

Epilepticon day 7: headcanons

I actually headcanon Kaminari from BNHA/MHA as having mild epilepsy, caused by his Quirk. His quirk’s drawback reminds me of me when I’m post-ictal and considering his quirks involves electricity, I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that he may unknowingly be giving himself seizures when he overdoes it with his Quirk.

I also one day want to write a Wreck It Ralph human AU where Vanellope has epilepsy because her glitch strongly parallels epilepsy in a lot of ways to me.

I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on the theory that MoM is an alternate wordline version of Sora? Its a theory I've seen popping up more and more lately. Also I know you don't agree with the Demyx = MoM theory (I don't either) but I was curious if you had any thoughts on what/who Demyx could be instead? It's kind of a vague question since there's not much to go on but I just wanted to know if you had any ideas? Love your theories and work!

I do think there are parallels between MoM, and that Sora could possibly be the “Next MoM” since 1. I believe (just a theory) that the MoM opened KH and reset the world sometime before KHX (I can write about that after September), and I’m pretty sure (also a theory but way more backed up) that Sora will be the next person to reset the world since KH1 said Sora is the one who will “open the door” and KH3 seemed to imply that as well with Sora and Xehanort’s conversation about the dictator of destiny at the end of KH3. HOWEVER, because Sora nor the MoM have never interacted in anyway, nor referred to one another in any way, there’s not a lot to go on. Luxu may not have seen the MoM’s face (if he’s still got Sora’s body and is not a body-hopper) because he’s never teased Sora about it, and Xigbar definitely teased Roxas, Sora, and Xion about looking like Ventus and his angry glare. So if Luxu ever saw the MoM’s face, and the MoM looks like Sora, then I’m sure by now, in at least KH3, Xigbar would have said something. This doesn’t mean I think Sora and the MoM being one in the same is impossible, but for now at the moment there isn’t enough for me to say “I believe in this theory”. I’m just open to the idea.

Now with Demyx, and I think there’s a possibility that he and Luxord are like Eraqus. If Eraqus truly is a descendant from Brain (and not just a time traveler with ‘Brain’ as an alias, which is a theory that’s been going around) then I think it’s possible that Demyx and Luxord are similar, since neither of them have shown up in UX’s story YET, and it seems to be nearing its climax with the end of Wreck it Ralph– maybe. Nomura’s tease may mean that UX has a lot more to cover then I originally thought:

“In regards to KH scenarios, I wrapped up the story for Re Mind, as well as the two story quests for UX. All that is left is to finish the remaining two story quests. However, I have received another mysterious request… Let’s just say this request involves an unannounced 3rd story line for KH. Once I complete this mysterious request, I’ll complete the 2 remaining story quests for UX.”

What I can’t tell is if “2 story quests” refers to Unchained X (the complete data repetitions of KHX before the story branches off) Union X (the story of the union leaders) and then two other stories. OR, if he means the different subplots within UX and how they finished. Cause I still genuinely believe Nightmare Chirithy will come back (foreshadowed by the return of Darklings) and we need to finish that thread once and for all, and also finish the thread of the Union Leaders leaving the worldline. And THOSE may be the only two plots, cause if they end, then UX ends. But what Nomura means could go either way (or a third way I haven’t thought of). If UX still has TWO ENTIRE sets of story lines to go through, then that leaves AMPLE time for Demyx and Luxord to be introduced as dandelions. But if UX truly ends after fulfilling what Luxu wrote in his observations, and Demyx and Luxord are never shown, then THAT leads me to believe they’re like Eraqus, and only have the ancient keyblade legacy within them that’s been passed down.

The Exoversal Major Crimes Unit is lead by Trippz Grissom, who came from the Unity Hearts Multiversal Cluster. The Crossover Chaos Exoverse was formed from a parental dispute between Xedra Colmare, and her then-husband Xalgoth. Their dispute was so explosive, that it destroyed Exoverse Zero, and started the First Exoverse. The couple had 3 sons, and 1 daughter that they were fighting over. Bone, the oldest, Venom, the second oldest, Ice, the second youngest, and the only daughter, and then the baby of the children, Qhkarus Colmare, who later reincarnated into Puggsy (Fangface). Fanboy (Fanboy and Chum Chum) is in the Adventurer's Club (Mission: Magic!) due to being in a relationship with the leader, Kim Yu. He loves her to pieces, and they are due to marry within a few weeks as of this writing.

Fred Jones and Daphne Blake (Scooby Doo) ended up together, and ended up having kids. Velma is an eternal bachelor, and Shaggy ended up with Makoto of Jupiter, also known as Sailor Jupiter. (This was inspired by ScoobMoonBusters) Fangs (Fangface) is gay, and ended up with a skateboarder by the name of Ken Hunter. They were both famous in the 2000s for their skateboarding, so they are considered a power couple. Winston Zeddemore ended up retiring from the Ghostbusters, and is now married to Queen Ti'yah Clarke of the Desert Nekonian peoples. He is also a Monster Hunter, and is good friends with Black Panther and the people of Wakanda. Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro (Futari Wa Pretty Cure) are married. They still have their Precure powers in this universe, and Nagisa is a high ranking commander in the Japanese Defense Force. She is semi-retired from it, though, but can still be called in if there's a situation. Honoka works at S.H.I.E.L.D as a scientist, alongside Velma Dinkley, Tom Van Beuren (Van Beuren Tom and Jerry), also of the Antiknyghtz!, and many others. Eugene Meltsner (Adventures in Odyssey) is an alien, his blood originating from the planet Bagklock. He is of the Ixfay tribe, and is a Bagklockian Skypiean. His real name is Yuija Malznar, and he is of blood related to the previous royal family. He cannot step foot on Bagklock due to that fact, and has lived on the planet of Avalon most of his life. Milkweed (Fanboy and Chum Chum), Hogwarts and Sakurazami (Magic School from Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure) are part of the same school system. Hikaru Hoshina (Star Twinkle Pretty Cure) went here in Crossover Chaos after graduating her canon school. This is where she met Gastoon Lagaffe (formerly Bow Lagaffe), and Kyle Bloodsworth-Tomason. They currently share an apartment together. Shantae is in a relationship with Vinnie Malaproper (Mission: Magic!). Because of this, she is semi-retired from protecting Sequin Land, which is situated in the Caribbean in this universe. If shit goes down, though, she will go there and save the day. Vinnie often comes along when this happens. The Lylat System (Star Fox) is a dead galaxy. It is currently being mined by the Byakkan Empire, a black comedy parody of KallyPanaStudio's Jellielandia. John Avery Whittaker (Adventures in Odyssey) is a retired Green Lantern. He used to fight alongside Hal Jordan back in the day, and retired during the Blackest Night Crisis. Beatrix (Gaston) Lagaffe is a Grey Jedi. She used to be a true Jedi, but then lost her mind, becoming what she is now. She is also a Grendel, a space werewolf species, is queen of them, and is also a trans woman. Gaston, her name in original canon, is instead her deadname. British Columbia, a capitalist country originally part of Canada, and Alberta, a communist country also originally part of Canada, constantly butt heads over a lot of stupid stuff. The rest of the 1500+ countries in the world think they're idiots. In the ancient past, an ancestor of Housemaster (Arfenhouse) came to Earth from space and landed in Ancient Ireland. His spaceship looked like a toaster, and he even called it such. Hence, why the country of Ulster is named such, and why toasters are named toasters. Wreck-it Ralph and Fix-it Felix are the mail carriers for Muncie, the Democratic Protectorate of Indiana. They have rubbed shoulders with Garfield and Jon Arbuckle, by the way, and are aware of Garfield's heritage from the Stars and Stripes Supergalaxy, and his ties to the Biker Brethren of the planet of Washington. They find it super ridiculous. Sailor Moon and Goku are married, and rule the Moon Kingdom together, due to the fact that Tuxedo Mask and Chichi died heroically in the Exoversal War. Chibiusa in the Crossover Chaos universe's father is Goku, hence she has a pink Saiyan tail. The universe of Ni No Kuni is one of many "parallel universes" in Crossover Chaos, and Swaine Pendragon, who in this universe is a Naga, comes from that universe. Parallel Universes and Alternate Universes are different things. Parallels are universes where there are different people existing then the main verse. Alternates are where the same people exist as the main verse, but are under different circumstances then the main verse. Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters is in the same school system as U.A. High School (My Hero Academia) and the Splitsboro Sidekick Academy (Sidekick), among others. The Time Knife (The Good Place) is on Pluto, in the Time Palace. It is watched 24/7 by guards that are trained from birth to protect it.

In my head if there is even a third Wreck it Ralph there are a few things I might find interesting or like to see them do

Go back to a focus on gaming with a lot more homages to the 90s since I feel in the first Wreck it Ralph the 16 bit era was kinda overlooked

Maybe introduce a Sonic parallel character to act as a foil to Fix it Felix.

Expand upon the nature of video game characters perhaps. I would find it interesting perhaps if they visualized the game development process since I feel the stories behind the development of games is something that is often overlooked within the public mainstream. In terms of plot, I can’t help but think the decline of arcades and how they have become increasingly rare. With that in mind I imagined the film starting out with essentially time having finally caught up to Ralph and the arcade which he has called home. I also can’t help but think of Donkey Kong Country and how it completely transformed Donkey Kong from bad guy to the hero of his own game. This leads me to what I envision as one of the overarching themes of the story with Ralph learning about his future and coming to grips with the fact that he himself might have to change. He has pretty much accepted the fact that he is the bad guy so what happens when the only life he has known gets suddenly taken away from him.

Smash Characters and people who main them

So, I was thinking about who mains certain Smash characters. Aaaand I got these ideas.

Mario: Probably Mickey Mouse. Or Emmet from the Lego Movie franchise idk

DK: Surely not King Kong because he has big hands and would break a Joy-Con just by touching it, not even a GameCube controller is safe. 100% Winston from Overwatch is the candidate, even better if he takes the blue DK skin lol

Link: Sora. This one is easy as hell.

Samus: Tony Stark is the first option that comes to mind.

Dark Samus: And since Rhodes can’t use Samus, might as well use the OTHER Samus lol

Yoshi: It is canonically stated in Deltarune that Asriel Dreemurr mains him and loves him to death.

Fox: I’m not sure how a red pirate fox animatronic holds a Joy-Con or two but probably Foxy from FNAF is the perfect main here.

Pikachu: It’s either Agumon or Jibanyan, too easy. Also put Jibanyan in Smash Sakurai pls

Luigi: Probably Donald Duck to parallel Mickey, the only difference between the two would be that Donald has a short temper while Luigi is a cowardly lion (and the plumber-sailor thing)

Review: I freaking loved this movie. It’s funny and heartbreaking and the parallels to our lives nowadays regarding the internet are spot on. I was invited to watch this movie before it actually arrives in theatres over here in Germany, so I was very lucky to see it beforehand.  It’s a good laugh, a good cry and contains a life lesson, like every disney movie has.  Rating: 4,5/5

The Front Runner (2018)

Review: Opened last thursday and is almost cancelled in all of the theatres over here, because it’s running really bad apparently. I have to say, I am not surprised, because this is not a movie for everyone. You need to have a thing for political movies to enjoy this one. I did very much, even though there were a few parts that kind of made this movie unnecessarily long.  What I also didn’t like about the movie was that it’s really superficial. It’s only scratching the surface of what could be a very interesting storyline. I know it’s based on real events, but I believe there’s more to tell to the story. The depth of the characters sadly lacked a ton. Jackman’s and also Farmiga’s performances, however, were strong and I enjoyed watching this film whatsoever.  Rating: 3/5

Le Flic De Belleville (2018)

Review: It was Sneak Monday you guys and what can I say - I was so confused when the production companies showed off their logos in the beginning, because I’ve never heard of one of them in my whole life before. I’m not really into french movies, don’t really know why to be honest. I still had no idea what this movie was about, not even when the title (ger. ‘Belleville Cop’) was revealed. But it was pretty much self-explanatory after a short time into the movie. It was very entertaining, but it reminded me on ‘CHIPS’ - another movie I’ve seen in a Sneak Preview a few years ago.  Had some good laughs and I was pleasantly surprised, it’s nothing special though. No special screenplay or camera work, no special acting achievement or anything. Hence my rating.  Rating: 2,5/5

Allied (2016)

Review: I’ve been wanting to see this since I first saw the trailer in the cinema years ago, but no one wanted to watch it with me or we had no time to watch it. So I had to wait a little more than two years to see this. Luckily, Amazon sent me an E-Mail with its 99ct - offers and ‘Allied’ was one of the movies I actually rented for 99ct on christmas eve. But I just watched it today, because I wasn’t in the mood before - I really had to watch it now, because otherwise I would’ve wasted 99ct for nothing and actually missed a really good movie.  The trailer gave away very much about the storyline, still I pretty much enjoyed watching the movie. It does create suspense and it builds up to a very tragic ending. I cried a lot during the end, so if you know you’re a crying baby during movies and you want to avoid that, this is not for you.  Very dramatic, but not the strongest performances by Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard. Saw both of them delivering stronger performances in other movies, but they did have great chemistry on screen. I also loved the costume design, no wonder this movie was nominated for several awards in this category. Rating: 4/5

Just this figure who takes a few children to an enchanted adventure. Imagine her as Remy from Ratatouille tho.

Hiroshi: The first one who came to my mind was Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. They’re both just so kind and pure and full of good intent. Also Dumbo, because I always headcanoned for that to be one of Megumi’s favorite movies when she was a child. Also, I kind off think it would be adorable to see him as Pinocchio. 

Mika: Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame would be the first one to come into my mind! Mika is a really, really good dancer actual and also has quite the sense for justice and speaks up for what she believes in. I could also imagine her as Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, mainly because of Tink’s temper. I also kind off want to give her a role of one of the Disney Princesses, because she’s just so romantic. But I dunno who.

Kaori: Princess-Wise, Tiana. A hard-working woman who puts her all into accomplishing her goal. Very Kaori-like. She would also fit as Megara from Hercules though. 

^Also a very Kaori-like thing to say. I could also kind off imagine her as Marie from Aristocats and I don’t know why. She could also be Pocahontas tho, based on the fact that she’s a flower-child deep down who loves gardening. 

Lola: Mother Gothel. I think Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph could suit her. Lola is just as cheeky and knows perfectly how to annoy. But in the end, you gotta love her. Nick Wilde from Zootopia could also be a good cast for her honestly. 

Mona: Violet form the Incredibles mostly! Both being closeted introverts that actually care a lot about their image. While also being incredibly shy. I could also imagine her as Elsa from Frozen in some sense. Especially with the ice-theme. Sally from The Nightmare before Christmas might be a good choice too.

Takayuki: Donald Duck honestly. They have the same temper. He could also be Shang from Mulan though, because off how serious  Shang is. He could also be Wreck-It Ralph though. O just simply Anger from Inside Out.

Kazuo: The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. He could also be Quasimodo though, in which everyone is scared of him because of his looks…While he’s actually a sweet guy!

Yasu: Do you know the vultures from the Jungle Book? Jokes aside, I can kind off imagine him as Wall-E to be honest (I don’t even know why) or Prince Eric from Arielle or Prince Philipp from Sleeping Beauty. Also Simba for no real reason (maybe because of the ambition to make his family proud). Also I kinda live for the concept of Yasu and Chieko as Sullivan and Mike from Monsters Ink.

Chieko: I think she might fit Jane best from Tarzan, but she could also be Belle from Beauty and the Beast because of all the books. She could also fit into the role as Cinderella though, since she’s very hard-working but tends to fade into the shadows a little. She deserves a chance to glow! Also Zazu from the Lion King honestly…and again Mike from Monsters Inc. 

Hideyoshi: KUZCO from the Emperor’s New Groove! It fits to a tee. Timon from the Lion King could also be a possibility tho. Or Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.

Daisuke: Kind off Woody from Toy Story. Or Pacha from Emperor’s New Groove….Or Pumba from The Lion King.

Hiraku: Probably fits Aladdin best. A kid from the streets who wants to achieve the great big gold. I could also picture him as Hercules though. Or Prince Eric (because of the obliviousness). Also���..Gaston, because I just need that. 

Akio: The LeFou to Hiraku’s Gaston. He could also fit Bagheera from Jungle Book, who just wants to do his job but gets hindered all the time. Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio might also be a good pick. Or the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, since he’s always so busy.

Suzume: Mushu from Mulan honestly. Though she also fits into the role of Esmeralda, since she’s also someone who stands up for ideals while being very caring at the same time. As a jokester she could also be Clopin from the Hunchback of Notre Dame tho. Tbh, she would also fit the roles of Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast or the Genie from Aladdin, since they’re such great performers. And let me tell you this, she would totally own the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. 

Shigeo: Hans from Frozen actually fits best honestly. I mean Shigeo is a great actor that really knows how to play the innocent lamb, while actually being a selfish, power-hungry prick. I could also see him as Scar from the Lion King though, because “Be Prepared” is just a good song for him. …Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective could also be a good choice maybe……..Give me a little bit more time and I might also come up with characters that are not villains.

See, it's mostly a massive crossover, but the main story established is that Ralph, Vanellope, Calhoun and Felix stumble across a new game world, meet the Incredibles and find themselves facing off against these little viruses known as "Creeps", and later meet Judy and Nick from Zootopia, which strangely establishes that this is a parallel Disney universe where everyone and everything exists in a computer, and no I have not seen the Wreck-it Ralph sequel, so I do not know if this is explained in this movie.

Anyway, you have a hub world to work with, that eventually fully unlocks the higher your level up.

You can select up to five Heroes (or Villains, they have them too) to battle the Creeps in the main campaign, but as you level up everyone, you unlock side stories that take a few days to really play through because you need to level up the Friendship on the side and complete other tasks.

You can let them play on Auto, or you can strategically select attacks. The Creeps occasionally take the form of other Disney characters, some of while you may already have unlocked. Again, these guys are supposed to be viruses attacking the Multiverse World.

You can craft and collect badges to strengthen your attacks or upgrade your power levels further, and a lot of them are fun nods to other Disney elements (I actually saw a badge referring to that old show "So Wierd", which really humored me because I used to watch that after school all the time on Disney Channel).

The flavor text is rich, and there's a lot of charm into each character animation. Heck, Jack Skelington and Sally is animated with a jerky style that replicates the stop animation fluidity and Captain Jack Sparrow has that little wobble when he walks. It's simple animations, but they look and feel like the characters we know and love. Ursula drags herself across the floor because of her octopus legs, and Judy uses a ketchup bottle to fake her death. It's just neat that they gave everyone unique charm.

The skill sets are also fun and often have nods to the source material. Ursula has a move called "Poor Unfortunate Souls", Scar has one called "A Matter of Pride", Rafiki has one called "Asante Sana Squash Banana"... This is just a fun Easter Egg packed game. The environment backgrounds are also loaded with fun jokes, like a food place called "Timon's Grub Hub" or a department store called "Oliver & Company", and yes, yes, there's Powerline concert signs too. A Darkwing story mentioned Tuskernini.

Just about every Disney property gets a nod somewhere. The badges especially, I've seen the Naco from Kim Possible, Dipper's hat, Mousercize, some stuff from SFTFOE, a Jar of Dirt, like anything you might have liked from Disney now or growing up, it's probably referenced somewhere or is going to be implemented soon.

So it's like a cross between a gatcha game and an RPG.

I like it it, I've been playing it since like December.

Excuse me but I'm new to Disney Heroes: Battle Mode. And I was wondering if you have any tips for unlocking characters? Also I noticed that there are some characters who are not listed. Do you know anything about that?

Mostly, you participate in events, gather hero chips in the Elite missions, open crates (some cost gems, some cost specific types of coins), or buy a handful in the shop when the stock cycles. The contest events sometimes pay out in good chip prizes or Diamond Crates, which could hold some chips for a rare pull. Also helps to join a decent guild for collective prizes for you contributing efforts.

Think of this like a blind box or gashapon sort of element.

A lot of it has to do with time spent. I also have VIP access because I plop some Google Play credits into this game every month and the VIP prizes stack on each renewal. Character prize rosters cycle with each update, and some are retired for a while before being plopped back in, such as the case with Darkwing, who was inaccessible to me until a couple weeks.

My personal current roster layout looks like this, with many needing work due to being recent recruits. I don't have access to some other characters yet, such as Miss Piggy or HDL or Timon and Pumbaa yet, but that's part of the fun and anticipation.

Diamond Pulls are the trickiest, but with Elite Missions, you can snap up a few rare chips a day. There's also special days where you might get 2X items or EXP during the missions, which are a fun booster for harder to get items.

Also, pay mind to your daily missions. They can give you some bonus currency or level you up faster (which refills and adds to your energy). Events may happen concurrent to IRL Disney events, such as the Toy Story, Aladdin and Lion King events happening during opening weekends for the movies, or holiday bonuses.

The best tactic is to just play and pay mind to the bonus prizes and directions. Crates are the best source, and you can sell extra badges if you're desperate for quick coinage to buy market items or more crates. You'll need to level up characters to make them stronger, boost thier attacks, add on mods you get from "Invasion" events, Friend Badges from campaigns, and enhancing equipped badges.

Ermanda’s Inner Sanctum: Scorpion 3.19 “Monkey See, Monkey Poo”

Thank you Scorpion for addressing the environmental issues facing the Amazon in terms of logging, missed pharmaceutical opportunities, and the impact of smaller niches for an area that houses the largest number of species, named and unnamed, on Earth!  Thank you Don Tardino for directing this episode!  Love him!  Overall, this episode is so hilarious!  I mean, we could have guessed this from the episode’s title alone, but it delivers so much more comedy than I anticipated.  Give me all the puns!  The Quintis “bicker clicker”, Sly’s tomato conundrum and psychosomatic breakdown, Ralph as the king of shade, and Toby’s twerking are just a few of many great comedic moments!  We also meet a new animal friend (Simian Freud) that could easily become a part of Team Scorpion like Ferret Bueller!  Cool fact: In the same way Happy gains a friend in Ada, Toby establishes a camaraderie with the monkey!  It pays off because the monkey saves Toby’s life!  Aww!  And is it just me or have we seen the cyclone handle a lot of animals this season?!  And a scorpion isn’t even one of them (😉 @aspiestvmusings)!  Ha!  Anyways, this review will expand on topics I have addressed in previous reviews as various story arcs unfold this season.  Let’s get started with a song to commemorate the episode!

Sly’s Genius Breakdown

Since this season’s focus is more on the personal sides of Team Scorpion, various scenarios explore how the geniuses and normals react to a loss or disappointment.  The geniuses retreat to their brains while the normals create emotional distance.  These coping mechanisms affect team dynamics and the biggest changes occur amongst those whose disappointments/losses have great impact to the plot.  The most prominent example is Walter’s reaction to Taige.  Other obvious ones include Happy/Quintis and the false pregnancy and Ralph’s questions and comments about Waige.  Now, Sly’s mannerisms after the election loss are another drop in this emotional bucket.

How is Sly coping after his election loss?  Looks like he caught the silly experiment bug from Walter!  Hahahaha!  And it’s no surprise that Walter is supportive in Sly’s endeavor to grow the perfect tomato slice for sandwich bread.  Even the way Walter places his hand is hand on Sly’s shoulder in a supportive manner is a testament of his EQ growth and Sly’s openness to contact even if he brushes his shoulder afterwards.  The quest to find a new passion leads to some hilarious brainiac moments!  At least this gardening project is more useful than Walter’s u-dog.  Lol!  However, a caterpillar that lands on his hand induces a psychosomatic reaction that leads to skin irritation from an itching sensation at the point of contact and transitions to anxiety-induced hand paralysis.  When Ralph conducts an experiment to test his hypothesis (it’s all in Sly’s head), Sly sees that his reactions are a manifestation of guilt for electing to stay in the garage for the mission because of his phobias.  Sly tries to remain supportive by pushing himself past his fears, but he has his limits.  The support from Ralph and Walter in this episode again convinces Sly to do things he would have never done 3 years ago.  He’s not doing anything major soon, but as Sly says… baby steps!  Yay Sly!  Yay for character development!  

Ralph Dineen: Scorpion’s Budding Little Genius

Ralph is growing up guys!  He is seeking more autonomy with his decision on a new haircut!  In addition, he is a steady voice of reason to everyone this season.  This is a great juxtaposition because he is the genius who is growing up with a lot of EQ exposure as opposed to the others.  Therefore, he relates to everyone in many ways and provides the team with perspectives they usually wouldn’t see without prompt.  Given that the cyclone is curious about EVERYTHING, Ralph knows what’s happening in the garage.  He’s the first to point out Cabe’s need for emotional support after his breakup.  This juxtaposition is also present whenever Ralph mentions his school curriculum.  Paige always reminds him about the importance of his secondary level schooling as much as his part-time student status in university.  This schedule fosters his psychological development in addition to his intelligence.  Gotta love this kid and the mother/son dynamic!  And I love that his haircut has a practical purpose!  It is an efficient means to get his lab goggles to form a proper face seal!  Love it… and so does Paige!  Once again, this show addresses conformity and uniqueness through Ralph, sending the message that individual uniqueness is lost when one conforms to societal standards.  Gain the EQ, but don’t sacrifice the IQ for it!  

Toby, You Good? Pt. 7 (via Quintis)

Happy presents some really great reasons to choose Dr. Rizzuto as a marriage counselor.  He helped Toby and Walter stop bickering 😉 last year and discovered that she and Toby were secretly dating.  Plus, it is also better to have a third party.  Happy also claims that they probably wouldn’t even be getting married if Dr. Rizzuto hadn’t pulled that news out of him.  Happy’s focus is primarily on herself based on her emotional faults.  Yet, Toby insists on ignoring Dr. Rizzuto’s successes in his life because his degree is not from a world-renowned university as his (and because he’s not a genius like him).  This is another explicit exploration of a Quintis dynamic shift where the focus pulls away from Happy’s emotional failures to Toby’s image of perfection that he projects onto his fiancé!  We are seeing more of Toby’s pathology at work.  First major clues were seen in 3.11 Wreck the Halls.  In all his loveliness, he has one that works to his detriment like the other geniuses.

Let’s break this down once again.  Notice Toby has a similar approach to every psychologists’ visit (reference 1.06 True Colors, 2.16 Fractured, & 2.17 Adaptation).  He also has the same fashion styling in each of those scenarios (wardrobe foreshadowing 😉).  Toby, like the other geniuses, are the best in their field, so they carry a sense of intellectual confidence that comes off as arrogance.  He expresses this through sarcasm.  Also, Toby’s childhood fostered feelings of inadequacy when he failed to fix his parents and picked up his father’s gambling habit.  The latter is one of several devices Toby uses to self-sabotage when things seem perfect.  Furthermore, he makes love declarations all the time, but he still struggles to make his needs known from the beginning (x).  And the image of perfection Toby projects on Happy doesn’t always create a platform for her to express her innermost thoughts since there is uncertainty that she will get a honest assessment as Dr. Rizzuto so perfectly states to him.  So I ask once again: who comes for Toby when he can’t help himself?  Notice how he has moments of truth at the end of each psych sessions and when Paige, Happy, or Ralph helps him.  In this episode, the answer is Dr. Cecil Rizzuto!  All of this continues to suggest that Toby has a secret he’s not sharing with the class or something happens where Toby learns to more consistently give Happy space to come to him.  You know, the scent of that Quintis shift is getting stronger! 😉😉😉    

The Waige Flip (via Walter O’Brien)

HOLY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!!!  The end scene adds a new and exciting chapter to this ongoing saga!  This moment is important for several reasons.  First, Walter reaches a new level of EQ on his own.  He doesn’t get a hint from the others.  In fact, he’s the first between him and Paige to suggest a way to meet Cabe’s needs because he relates to the emotion.  Second, it’s an enlightening moment for Paige.  One of her concerns is Walter’s emotional availability for a romantic relationship.  This is not surprising considering that Walter claimed more than once that the notion of romantic love is fantasy.  It’s also not easy to deduce that Walter’s jealousy and pettiness was more a projection of deep, emotional pain when he already has difficulties relating to emotions period.  After Tahoe, Paige was not convinced that Walter truly related to the feeling of love and heartbreak.  And Veronica didn’t help the cause through her example.  So Walter’s change has her wondering about the possibilities.  And I think that Toby and Paige's linkup in this episode is done because they both experience enlightenment when it comes to their relationships.  Third, it links to the “sink or swim” philosophy.  Walter is getting like Dory and swimming well!  Go Walter!  🎤 Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming! 🎤

Overall, this moment makes everything Walter said to imaginary Paige in 3.03 It Isn’t the Fall That Kills You 10x more profound.  In fact, it is necessary to Waige developments.  Remember Cabe’s “half-baked” advice from 3.02 More Civil War?  Walter is cooking quite nicely I must say!  And now Walter goes to Cabe in a time of need when it comes to the women in their lives.  Hello parallels!  Now Paige is in the position to address her hesitations and ask herself again if a relationship with Walter is worth the risk given that he has reached a level of EQ on his own, without her help by drawing from his own experiences.  And another thing… What happens between them when some of Walter’s memories return in pieces that make him curious about what happened during the space mission?  Let’s see… this is episode 19, right?  It’s only a matter of time.  This relationship flip is unfolding quite nicely!  Btw, I am still looking for a ship catchphrase guys.  Quintis is to “The Mighty Love Oak” as Waige is to… [fill in the blank].

The actual name of the bon bon fruit that saves the day and beats the virus… dragonfruit!  And it’s actually very delicious!  

I guess the choice to have Happy snip off the needle from the syringe is to have Happy use a tool and create a bonding moment between Toby and Happy amidst the bickering.  Funny thing is that the needle actually screws off quite easily to expose the blunt opening in reality.  I do it everyday depending on the medication I have to administer!  Haha!

Dr. Cecil Rizzuto confirms what we’ve known all along… Happy Quinn and Toby Curtis are perfect for one another!  He also thinks the hat is stupid. 😂😂😂 Man, Happy is getting a lot of wins in this episode with Dr. Rizzuto’s help!  And Toby turns over a new leaf once again, praising Dr. Rizzuto for his work.  Ah parallels!
