I only hate flight rising for the fact that I had a crippling addiction to the online dragon pet game when I was younger and it was very unhealthy.

Chit Chat 111620   11-16-20
Chitchat 111620 with Jack Michael Jeremys Chair and the disembodied voice of alfredo (no he left after set up immediately , never heard him) id put “keep reading” if i knew how for this sorry
Jack: hi im jack with my friends michael and Spearow the dragon (jeremys not here , theres a spyro … pillow i think on his chair).. So we made the mistake of doing 2 minecrafts backtoback  and it ended like 20 minutes ago then like “oh yeah we have other stuff we need to set up before”… Michael:  yeah this isnt so much a chitchat it is just a chit not really time for a chat. Jack: how about we chit about recapping extralife?  It went really well thank you everyone who watched and contributed, trying to get chat up right now…. Cuz we got Chit trying to get the Chat as well… this is the 4th year in a row we raised over 1 million$ , and were having some auctions for charity. Up for auction: 3D printed gen lock heads , pictures of the Spooky Hour (Gen Notes i thought they were done with that?) , the jon risinger bob ross segment painting , some f*face hats , some wood and glass sculptures (jeremy comes back during around this) … and gratz to jeremy for urinating and coming back *on time*  Jeremy: hey my bathroom is a few steps from here… that whole time was spent peeing Oooohhhh better. Jack: michael , jeremy got anything to say about whats happened recently. Michael: no uh…. Just recovering… Jeremy: oh that was hard to watch michael. Jack: oh i have this picture i posted on twitter of fiona milking gavin…. Spraying milk into his eyes , sounds weird when i phrase it like that see if i can post it. Fiona somehow got both eyes in one shot , none in the mouth (the goal) just eyes. If you don't know the context it looks like hes spraying milk from his head like some kind of anime demon… then the paintballs happened…. Usually with paintballs theyve been going a while and theyve calmed down , that time it was new compressors and we JUST started using them for michael and gavin (Michael: “they” as in the paintballs themselves , theyve calmed down) yeah so that time they still had a lot of OOMPF and it was like getting kicked in the head over and over. Michael: no that's good , kick me in the head all you want. I went second just so i could tell how bad it hurt , so i knew where to hit gavin to make it hurt the most… immediately flipped on it like “he doesnt deserve this” and shot the face (which hurt the least) as much to spare him… i did do a few tummy shots but still. Jack: the crotch was also a good spot cuz of the cockblocker… problem is if you missed they go left or right into your thigh Michael: the thigh and stomach hurt the most … our thighs are black Jeremy: were also doing the vinyl  Jack: oh yeah we reached our goal and putting AH the musical on a vinyl , plus a new song with Fiona ive been working with her trying to get the tone and everything (Gen notes im gonna guess its there so Still in the Air isnt…) … Jeremy wanna say what you offered up? Jeremy: yeah were doing the AH rap version 2 (Gen notes either A. a version with the rest of  “The B Team” to have verses , or B. redoing it without HIM) , been working on a beat for it … ive written one verse mine so far (Gen notes , think its option B then) but i feel like its a little TOO mean so i may dial it back down a bit … the plan is shorter verses but more people , so hopefully Myself , michael gavin , Jack , Fiona , the twins , Matt , Lindsay and MAYBE a verse where the  support room jump in one bar at a time , still in the works. Jack: yeah you guys DEMOLISHED goals, chads daughter she is so sweet… she saved up chore money and wanted to donate it all of her own , she wasn't convinced to she just wanted to donate 20$ which just broke everyone - well chad and i , caiti held it together, so we asked the audience to match her 20$...  over the course of 10 minutes that 20$ became 65000$... we broke extralife we legit broke their intake of donations. We also had 2 people there who if we needed to hand something to someone wed give it to them , theyd “baptize” it as covid precaution then give it to whoever. Michael: except cloth they were like “you touch cloth you own it” … was like i could walk away with a lot of things right here , this towel? This towels done (Jack: you just going around grabbing curtains) … (start paraphrasing)  we always want extralife to be like the best show ever cuz its for a good cause , but then this year we were like “how would we even pull it off”... i don't think 2020 extralife couldve gone better given everything (end paraphrasing) “fave extralife 2020 moment” Jack: my thing… Chad James is a freaking beast and towards the end the last segment we did was called the sweet and sour hour where caiti would do something nice and chad would get punished … it ended up getting stacked so we started doing some at once. At one point Chad is on the pummelhorse which is an elastic band that hits you in the undercarriage , chelsea was there with a leg wax remover , then we had cody from code 4 which is our compliance officer with hand sanitizer. So Blaine pummelhorses chad , chelsea leg waxes him and then cody sprays him with the antiseptic (michael: in his eyes… Gen Notes i mean hes probably kidding but idk it seems possible) … chads on the pummelhorse weeping and Blaines ALREADY spinning the wheel. Michael: its funny , theres so much stuff that happened and not just the segments i was there for , but a simple delight getting chad to eat that whole pickle … he was just saying “i cant do it ill throw up” and i just kept repeating “youu can dooooo iit...”... gave me some enjoyment since i was there basically to get slapped around , but in between i made chad eat a pickle Jack: so jeremy you have a fave moment? I know you were there for the solo stream section - oh i forgot about DJ JAAWNK how could i that was a blast Jeremy: yeah i was listening to most of the solo streamer section , i know Kdin had a thing where she gathered a bunch of people to do among us and it was fun…. For a certain donation amount they would just launch john mace into space , theyd just call a meeting and get him… Matt joined me playing spyro and i had the Gold Chonky spyro mods on , and if people donated enough wed spin a wheel that me or him would have to do.. We had to spin it like 15 times , and alot of them were “have to hold the controller upsidedown” which is a monstrosity… and twice it was me put a blindfold on and matt would have to direct me through the level. I panicked A LOT cuz you could HEAR the enemies shooting at and coming at you   but i didn't know where … it was like a live Matt and Jeremy do something - your welcome sarah! (Michael: you did do something… Spearow… Spearowmint gum)  so first were doing SPiderman Miles Morales PS4 edition cuz i don't have a PS5! Everyones talking about how they're sold out so the most ive done was when i was shopping for ovens i was like “lemme peruse the playstation aisle” didn't see one and went guess im not getting one… Jack: are they even selling them in person or is it just online… Michael: i know game stop is selling them , they're sold out but i know they were selling them.... Think most stores waiting for black friday to get them in store… i want one but im not going to a store on black friday , ill play fall guys if i want to get trampled Jack: oh yeah someone mentioned the ChungeScwa heist is coming we reached that goal Michael: fiona said i could be there, i asked can i help and she said something like “plz help , cuz otherwise it wont happen.” ive also offered doing a 50 turn mario party even though it wasn't a goal cuz we didn't even do last years so now wed owe 2 for 2021 assuming we can make that happen. Jack: cant you do a 100 turn mario party is that a thing? Michael: no 50 is the most , ive contemplated maybe we combine them into one game and scores carry over but it might be upsetting if im ahead by 9 stars after 50 turns and then it just becomes a 4 hour victory lap so its probably better to do 2 of them… we were about to do one in april we were planning on shooting it in april but then SOMETHING came up idk what it was … it just kept coming up for 7 months… Jeremy: and they don't stop coming and they don't stop coming… oh if were going to show my PS4 screen lemme show how much a  loser i am…. Jack: you got a platinum in bug snax?!?!? Jeremy: yuuuppppp!!!

Top 6 Episodes of One Piece
If there's a series that attempts to test the diminishing return hypothesis, it's One Piece. The monstrous epic of Eiichiro Oda is the highest selling manga of all time, but its ridiculous duration still prohibits many people from checking it out, and that hill will only get steeper as we barrel towards its end (eventually).
The One Piece anime, which is a much greater commitment to time and does not boast the brilliant artwork of Oda as a selling point, is even more of a conundrum. Yet, for the first time, so many fans perceive the story this way and fall in love regardless... Over the course of many long binges, there is something special about cuddling up in front of a screen and getting lost in a world, and the powerful spirit that burns just below the surface, even during the not-so-hot days of the anime, still keeps us building up to a new "best" chapter. Everyone has their favorite shows, the ones they feel emotionally attached to, and we would love to share yours in the forums with you. Here are my own 6 best One Piece episodes, in chronological order (but not superlative):
Episode 19 - The Three-Sword Style's Past! Zoro and Kuina's Vow!
Tumblr media
In the modern age, where the manga is so informative and comprehensive, it's hard to believe that there was once a period when the anime really successfully expanded on the plot. The anime version of Zoro's flashback is so amazing that it is the "true" version of the story in my heart, which comes a little later than it did in the manga. What once was a fast and blunt page is turned into a wonderful piece of sound, letting us live for an episode in the Japanese countryside as we hear the story of a young Roronoa Zoro and his original opponent, Kuina.
In its obsession with gender, this episode also ends up being easily the most empathic the show has ever gotten. It portrays Kuina, the prodigal swordsman, dissatisfied with the awareness that the gap in intensity between her and Zoro will increase drastically as they become adults. This is a moment for a young Zoro to take seriously his female rival, and in the present day, Tashigi finally takes up whatever thematic baggage is left behind by her death. This is One Piece's tender side at its finest.
Episode 119 - Secret of Powerful Swordplay! Ability to Cut Steel and the Rhythm Things Have!
Tumblr media
This is another fantastic episode of Zoro that places us in the middle of the Straw Hats and Baroque Works' climate war. The adversary of Zoro is Mr. 1, who really isn't a swordsman, but a man who can turn his entire body into a weapon. Not only does Dice-Dice Fruit from Mr. 1 allow for some of the anime's imagination, but this episode manages to offer one of the coolest battles in the entire series. It's bloody, it's raw, and Zoro throws a guy into a building.
Towards the end, the episode is at its best, when everything gets quiet and builds up to the final blow. It sells the show with so much conviction that I believe it's cool. I believe this is one of the series's most driven episodes, and a great example of the show's cinematic narrative eye.
Episode 278 - Say You Want to Live! We Are Your Friends!
Tumblr media
If 151 was the episode that made me a fan, the episode that made me a lifetime fan is 278. This episode and the one before it are older examples of "one-hour specials" from the series, which are gradually split into two episodes until released on home video and streaming sites. This episode is jam-packed even as just the second half of a special, as we conclude the tragic backstory of Robin and transition into the present where the Straw Hats make their greatest gesture yet to save their friend from the greedy World Government.
One Piece can become astonishingly sad for being such a vibrant and enjoyable series, to the point that it almost competes with itself to see how unhappy it can get. If the highs were not so gosh darn consistent, these lows would become tiresome, and Straw Hats' assault on the government flag, followed by Robin's major "I want to live!" One of the most cathartic moments you'll ever find in literature is the scene. At this point in the plot, the Straw Hats are still underdogs, so their bold "never give up" attitude in the face of their greatest enemy hits particularly hard. This episode illustrates the chasms that One Piece can jump to be the saddest and happiest tale it can be, from baby Robin surviving the genocide of everyone she's ever loved to adult Robin pleading for another chance at life.
Episode 396 - The Fist Explodes! Destroy the Auction!
Tumblr media
In One Piece, Luffy punches a Celestial Dragon so hard that he knocks the color off the screen, still one of the most frequently referenced and applauded moments. If there is one thing that One Piece is unbelievably good at, it's payoffs. It sets the pins up so that in the most bombastic way possible it can knock them down. To this day, the Celestial Dragons are the most heinous villains we've seen in One Piece, and the repercussions of (again) defying the World Government are obvious, but Luffy still has to do his thing with Luffy.
The emphasis that the show places on Luffy's pledge to Hatchan not to intervene, no matter what, is what really captures me about this moment. You get the feeling that Luffy is the kind to keep an earnest promise, but watching a hero get pushed beyond that stage is always fascinating.
Episode 574 - Back to the Present! Hordy Makes a Move!
Tumblr media
The general opinion, as far as I can tell, is that Fishman Island is the series' worst arc. With this sentiment, I don't agree. I think it's one of the heaviest, most three-dimensional instances I've ever seen of fantasy-world-racism-as-metaphor-for-real-world-racism. Basically, the mid-arc flashback covering the plights of Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime is a film-length drama, and it's one of the series' best flashbacks, for which there's fierce competition. It's very underestimated.
Aside from being an exceptionally pretty episode, both halves of it are extremely strong, one at the tail end of the flashback and one coming out of it. Neptune mourning the death of his wife, distraught that the difficulty of race relations implies that he can not convey his frustration, is a great scene, as is the forgiveness of Jimbei by Nami for his connection to the pirates of Arlong. The push and pull between hope, cynicism, remorse, rage, and love is what makes this arc perfect. You just ever feel like you're halfway through everything life's going to bring you through, even at its worst. As for its place in the big picture plot, this episode is a significant step in the relationship of Jimbei with the pirates of the Straw Hat, and it establishes the purpose of the Ryugu Kingdom to join the World Government and attend the Reverie, a heavily built-up political event that is due in the manga any day now.
Episode 616 - A Surprising Outcome! White Chase vs. Vergo!
Tumblr media
This is a particular stand-out episode in the series for fighting animation, since it's so much more physical than normal. Even with the powers of Smoker and Vergo flying every way, the effect goes down to their good ole fists. The personal investment between two marines duking it out is already very intense, but it's put over the edge by the great choreography and style, and that alone would put such an episode on my radar.
That said, once Smoker vs. Vergo turns over to Vergo vs. Rule, there is a cherry on top, with the real villain of the arc, Doflamingo, listening in from a distance. The rest of the series gives too much consequence to the law defeating Vergo in such an over-the-top manner.
So those are the episodes I feel are worth revisiting the most! Obviously, I'm expected to have skipped a few or omitted incredibly significant episodes in this top six list, with a series that long. If you enjoyed this top list of mine don’t forget to leave a like and share it with your friends. If you have any suggestions for my next top list just mail it to me at [email protected] and i will feature you for my next article. Stay tuned and stay safe everyone!

Dragon Age Origins Fanfiction
So recently, I’ve looked at the first fanfiction I’ve written three years ago as I’m struck with a case of low motivation to continue my current projects. I’m currently struggling with making my writing immersive but the problem is, I have a weird reaction to that. A beta reader once told me to write it through my character’s senses because my current writing is not making readers connect with the character. Problem is, when I try to write as if I’m in my characters’ head, it feels weirdly violating, Like I’m committing mind rape to them. Probably because I write my characters as If they’re real, and I just give them the plot for them to react to it and I to record what they do with it. My characters rarely end up as I intended at first. So this immersion thing really messes up our dynamic and it’s affecting my current works to the point I’ve stopped writing altogether.
Anyway, I read my old finished fanfiction again and while I think it’s not as good as I thought then, it also surprised me. I’ve forgotten some of the old jokes and it made me laugh both because I enjoy it and surprised that I’ve actually wrote those funny things. Then an idea to solve my current problem appeared in my head and I’m testing it out to see if it works.
This is only an excerpt, but I’m planning a rework of my old fic for publication soon. It’s about the Fifth Blight and narrated by Philliam, A Bard wrote it like an interview style/non-fiction book. The old fic in question: https://archiveofourown.org/works/13074672/chapters/29909850
Chapter 2
Paragons are the elite of dwarven society and their symbol of dwarven excellence. They are the equivalent of gods in our society, for dwarves worship their ancestors and they consider paragons a living Ancestor, carrying the wisdom and will of the departed ones. They can be drawn from any caste, even the casteless, which is the only way one can change their caste upward. The house of one of our heroes was descended from such a Paragon.
The Noble House of Aeducan was founded when their ancestor became a Paragon for leading the dwarves against the darkspawn during the Fifth Blight and saved their race. Currently, they were the ruling, royal house of Orzammar, of which our hero belongs.
Now he would have told his tale from when he was recruited into the wardens, but that would not give us an idea of his character. Coaxing him to start during his time in Orzammar before his recruitment was difficult, as I understood it was painful for him to recount those events the most, but I managed it, as you shall see.
Thorin Aeducan’s story:
I am Thorin Aeducan, the second child of King Endrin Aeducan. I have two brothers; Trian was the eldest and the heir apparent and Bhelen the youngest. We grew up close as only boys do, until our coming of age where we went to our separate ways; Trian to train under our father to succeed him and me and Bhelen off to the army and lead them against the eternal threat of darkspawn. Fighting in the Deep Roads wasn’t much to Bhelen’s liking and went off to live like a pampered prince in the Diamond Quarter. I, meanwhile, see no better life than among those who fight and shed bled with each other.
Probably the first sign I had that everything would change for me occurred on the day I was ordered back by my Father to the city to honor my work in the Deep Roads. It started harmless enough, in my room at the palace, as Gorim assisted me in dressing up for the feast. I donned the antique armor of my grandfather which was more showy than practical. The burnished metal was too bright, the metal too thin and the shape too bulky. Looking at my reflection, I could see I was uncomfortable in it. My body was accustomed to my regular armor, which I think was molded from spending too much time fighting it grew callused to make them fit. While not-ill fitting, the ceremonial armor I was wearing was sending danger signals in my mind which I could not shake as Gorim laughing softly behind me, in the same spirit as if he just caught me wearing my grandmother’s gowns.
“Not to your taste, my lord?” he asked, dressed decently in armor that was as not as pretentious as the one I was wearing. His grin made even his wide face wider and his whole face was effusive as the light from the torch was caught in his simply styled, but neat, copper hair.
I looked away from my reflection to his smiling face as he held a matching antique sword in his hand. Then I looked down on myself. “This belongs in the Shaperate,” I said, as I readjust the straps of the gauntlet again.
“Hardly, my lord. If you’re concerned about it breaking apart due to age, then worry not. It was crafted by excellent smiths whose skill is still unsurpassed by anyone alive. It would certainly withstand some bit of walking.”
I groaned. “Not that. It just feels…wrong. This,” I pointed in the mirror at the shoulder guard, which was comically large enough to use as a shield, “isn’t something I’d think to be good to wear. How am I supposed to move in this thing?”
“That was the point. It’s meant to catch attention as fast as possible,” Gorim said, stepping closer to my side. “Its size was supposed to show the breadth of your strength and power and make everyone looking at you fall in awe. Which is perfect for the feast your father threw for you. We can’t have our celebrant looking unremarkable now can’t we?”
I shook my head at their silliness. My regular armors were perfectly fine.
“Now, do you wish to wear your shield to the feast?”
“Yes. Let me see them as the warrior I am and not some dressed-up spoiled prince,” I said as I gestured at my reflection. The shield on my back might calm me enough not to notice what I was wearing in time for the party. A shield saved me plenty of times in the Deep Roads when I sometimes lose my grip on my sword, and nothing was more comforting by the feel of it on my back.
“That would surely tell the nobles that you are a warrior if they hadn’t known already,” Gorim snarked. I shrugged that off. Gorim was more jesting of his lord than other seconds but I don’t mind it. No one was more faithful and more trustworthy than he.
Gorim stopped grinning at last and his tone was serious when he spoke again. “Moving on to the business at hand, the king expects you to make an appearance at the feast, but there’s no rush. The noble family heads will spend hours boring your father with petitions and petty grievances.”
“And you’re suggesting we do something else?”
“Well, as part of the celebrations, permits have been auctioned off to members of the Merchant Caste who wished to sell wares in the Diamond Quarter. Lord Harrowmont has also opened up the Provings for young warriors to test their mettle before the upcoming battle.”
I considered it. Though I would have liked to watch the Provings, it just served in the past for lesser nobles to push their petitions by chatting with me, hoping I’d pass it to my father’s ears. Though I discouraged them at every turn, still they persist so I never enjoyed watching at all.
“The Proving sounds appealing but I’d rather not meet other nobles until it’s time. Let’s go have a look at the Diamond Quarter.”
Gorim bowed. “As you wish, my lord. The day is ours until the feast.”
I cast one look at my room. It was sparsely furnished and decorated, for I rarely use it but today, it was filled with gifts from my friends, other noble houses, commoners whose names I do not know and even from my men who I left in the Deep Roads. Even though they could not leave their post as I did, they still managed to send gifts to me. We sneaked out the palace, bypassing the hall where my father was entertaining his subjects and emerged onto the Diamond Quarter. I huff with satisfaction as I saw the city laid out, sparkling like a well cut jewel. The Diamond Quarter was laid out with two wings on each side and the proving ground jutting out in the middle while the lava flowing below lit bathed everything in warm light. Our ancestors have hewn the rock of this cavern to make our home; in sharp lines, hard walls, and strong pillars.
Every day, the city grows in beauty and I cannot be prouder.
“Shall we take a look at the stalls, my lord?” Gorim gently prompted me.
I smiled at him to excuse my lapse. “Of course.”
We walked down the steps towards the ground at the left of the palace, which was filled with stalls selling all kinds of dwarven crafts in honor of the Proving today. As soon as I appeared, everyone acknowledged my presence through the gradual lessening of their talk.
The previously spacious ground was now filled to bursting with stalls selling every kind of merchandise from the city and the surface. A shop selling dwarven weapons and armor was placed next to one selling human-made trinkets. Behind a rack of smithing tools was a cabinet filled with surfacer curiosities.  And tables with sumptuous food from the surface. Bottles of wine and beer known to people.
We dwarves mostly produce what we need, but we could never beat the surfacers in terms of food and cloth. They have simply far more variety up there and I briefly wondered how they could have it. From what Duncan told me, the surface was wide open, with no ceiling, and seemed to stretch from side to side, seemingly without end, so they had more crops than I could count with my fingers. Though Duncan never lied to me, I always thought what he said about the surface as ridiculous. An infinite space like that; however did it not manage to break up and fall apart?
Currently, I was looking at a display of surfacer cloths with the owner standing attentively at my side. I have little use for it as I’m rarely out of armor, save for leather and cotton, but the stall owner has many interesting types displayed today.
“A bolt for your lady, my lord?” he inquired. “We have all manner of cloths she will surely love: wool and velvet from Ferelden, silk from Orlais, cotton, and linen from the Free marches. If you would like something more special, we have embroidered bolts at the back in silver and gold thread. We also have ones appliqued with gems. Just let me get to it.”
I smiled at his insinuation of a mistress. Before I could speak, Gorim spoke. “You are too familiar, merchant,” he scolded the shopkeeper. “This is your prince who you’re talking to and you ought to pay him more respect.”
“It’s alright, Gorim,” I said as the merchant began to cower and mutter his apologies. I smiled wider to reassure him. “No harm done.”
The merchant started to stammer. “Apologies my lord. I wanted to please you so badly that I-”
“It’s alright. I took no offense.”
He nearly fell to his knees. “Oh, thank you, my lord.”
I drew back my hand at the silk bolt I was looking at. “Let me assure you; Your attention to me has pleased me enough that, if I were to be fortunate enough to have a wife, I surely would look for you to recommend to me an appropriate gift for her.”
He stammered effusively his thanks and with a nod, I and Gorim went to the next stall, which was selling something to my taste
“Greetings, my lord Aeducan,” the weapon seller called to me as we stepped in front of his goods. “I am so honored to have you visit my booths.” He stopped and looked as if he was about to say something. When I turned to look at his wares, he spoke, lowering his voice. “If you would excuse me, I have a…preposition but I dare not approach any further.”
I stared at his face in surprise. Gorim stepped closer and looked at the merchant likewise but with narrowed eyes. “Yet you dare now?”
“It’s alright,” I said to Gorim. “I’ll hear him out.”
Gorim nodded at me and turned back to the merchant. “Very well then. Speak.”
The merchant made himself smaller as he glanced around us. “Sorry. So nervous. I have a dagger made. For…you. As a gift for your first command. I, uh, sent a messenger to deliver the dagger to you but Prince Trian threw him out. I don’t know what offense he caused, but I had him beaten severely.”
Gorim and I glanced at each other. We both saw we had no idea why Trian would stop people from giving gifts to me. It was none of his business.
“I’m sure Trian has his reasons,” I said carefully.
He nodded, seemingly to accept my explanation. “Would you like to look at the dagger?”
“Of course.”
He smiled with extreme elation. “Oh, thank you, my lord. A thousand thanks to you. Here…” he bent down to retrieve a box on a drawer. He opened it, showing it to us. Inside nestled an extremely beautiful dagger on dark purple velvet. It was triangular-shaped, with the grip covered in druffalo leather. The guard was embossed with intricate designs and the blade shone dark like obsidian, I knew the blade was silverite just extremely polished to look like the glass. It was not merely decorative a fragile beauty belying its deadliness.
I was silent in admiration. From what I can see, I have no complaints about its craftmanship.
“That’s an amazing piece merchant,” Gorim said, not quite keeping his awe out of his voice.
“You do me much honor ser,” the merchant replied, abashed. “The blade has been crafted over a period of two years by masters of every art. I wish to bless my lord’s first command and hope that someday, when he rules, he will wear it.”
I and Gorim went still as we both understood that the merchant was proposing treason. Dangerous words to speak aloud in the middle of the public market. If his messenger was just as careless as he, then Trian throwing him out was no mystery.
“Trian is heir,” I reminded him gently, hoping that only his enthusiasm had led him to speak treason. “He will rule when my father your king returns to the Stone.”
“If the Assembly wills it,” he said, looking upward in the sign of our Ancestors. “Forgive me ser but whispers say that the second child of King Endrin will be chosen.”
“The whispers are wrong,” I said more strongly to impress in him his danger. “What they propose is treason and you would do well not to speak that aloud.”
The merchant paled.
“I was born a prince and I shall die a prince,” I added. “I have no wish to take the throne as long as Trian is alive to claim it. Pass it on to those who whispered to you and never speak of this again, for your own safety and those around you.”
The merchant bowed low. “Of course. Thank you my lord for warning me. But,” he looked with pain at the dagger in his hands, “what shall I do with this?”
The wise thing to do was to throw it in the lava but as I saw the way he looked at it as if it was his child, I reconsidered. We dwarves don’t treat our craftmanship lightly.
“I’ll take the dagger. I’ll wear it with pride when Trian ascends the throne.”
The merchant looked at me as if I’d just saved his family. I glanced at Gorim and he immediately held out his hands to take it from his hands. The merchant handed it over with reverent care, taking one final look at it, then turned to me, with tears in his eyes. “Thank you. You bring uncountable honor to me.”
I nodded my goodbye and we walked away from the stall. As soon as we’re out of earshot of the merchant, Gorim remarked. “What he meant is this will bring you uncountable gold to him if you wear that piece in public.”
I smiled at his cynicism. “Gorim, be kind to the poor man. He nearly lost his life today.”
“All for a bit of gold,” he answered and shook the package in his arms lightly. “Whispers, indeed. This is a princely gift. If Trian recognizes it, though, it may send the wrong message.” He then gave me a sideways look and added in a low voice, “Or the right one, depending on your view.”
I stopped walking to stare at him in shock. “Gorim, are you sincerely proposing…”
Gorim glanced around us and made his voice low, which, from the chatter of the people around us, would make his words intelligible to anyone but me. “My lord, you should know, though your humility prevents you so, that most people would want you to take your Father’s place instead of Prince Trian.”
I stared at him for a long while and I didn’t know I was holding my breath until it was forced out of me in coughing disbelief. “This is just a steaming pile of brontoshit.”
“I am not jesting, my lord. The army loves you, and the people too in the same way that they do. And the nobles would rather deal with you than with Prince Trian with his volatile temper.”
“Spawn’s balls, Gorim! I am not gonna take my brother’s birthright. My brother, who I love.”
Gorim clamped his lips tight as I looked at him with disbelief that he would dare say something extremely painful to me. “What kind of man do you think I am to think that I would do that?” I asked softly.
Gorim kept silent, looking at the ground in shame.
“Let’s speak no more of it,” I said with finality and we went to other stalls in silence.
While we peruse the next stall in a somber mood than the one we started in, we did not expect to run so early onto the one we were arguing about.
“Atrast vala, big brother. How surprising to run into you out among the common folk,” said a chirping voice to my left.
I turned around and found my younger brother, Bhelen. Despite his greeting, his pale face looked harried and the light blue eyes had no luster. It always was the case when he was with our elder brother, Trian, who was standing next to him, looking like his overgrown version. In contrast, Trian narrowed his eyes when he saw me and gave a deep huff, sending the braids in his light-colored beard to flutter. His face was set in hard lines of disapproval.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Gorim whipped the gift swiftly but deftly at his side, away from the view of my brothers, instead of holding it in front. I glanced at Bhelen quickly, who looked slightly guilty when he met my gaze then back to Trian. I knew immediately Bhelen used me as a distraction to our elder brother. Because Trian looked like he’s about to chew someone out.
“Especially since duty requires you to attend our father the king. Have you little respect for him to disregard his wishes on a day set for you?” he asked sharply at me.
Knew it. Before I can say anything, Gorim spoke up. “Lord Harrowmont assured me we wouldn’t be needed for hours at least-”
“Silence! If I want the opinion of my sibling’s second, I will ask for it,” Trian barked, cutting him off.
Gorim mumbled “Yes Your highness” and stepped back.
My brows drew together in reproof at Trian and I said, “Don’t speak to him like that.”
Trian raised his in surprise at my words then drew together in irritation. “I’ll speak to the lower houses and castes as they should be spoken to,” he said snittily.
Stone, I love my brother but he makes it hard to be loyal.
“Now do as I say,” he added.
I gritted my teeth. “I will go at my leisure,” I said in a measured tone.
Trian stared at me with a shocked face for one moment, as if I’d sprouted another head, then he went red with rage. He stepped closer to me until we were face to face. “If I am king, you will never be allowed to act like that to me again,” he growled, keeping his eyes on me to make me cower. But I stared back hard without flinching, even as a crowd formed around us. Nothing Trian can do to me will scare me after what I’ve endured in the Deep Roads.
“Come, Bhelen,” he said finally, snapping his fingers. Bhelen looked at me, sheepishly, then followed like a dog to our brother’s retreating back. The crowd around us parted out of the way for them, then looked back at me uncertainly.
“It’s just a quarrel with brothers,” Gorim said to them, smiling. “Everyone back to business.” As we watch the crowd disperse reluctantly, Gorim turned to me and said “That was fun. Nothing like being talked down by the next king.”
“He had better not be like that when he is king. The nobles won’t stand a tyrant,” I said, looking on until the heads of my brothers were lost among the crowd.
“Oh? What has your brother done now?”
I turned at the speaker and was pleased with what I’ve found. Finally, a person I like to talk to. “Nerav. Stone met,” I greeted and bowed to a woman dressed fashionably in silk and sable.
Lady Nerav, daughter of Lord Helmi. Also my betrothed.
I’ve seen her many times dressed in a smith’s apron with soot on her face and looked mostly at home with that, but she had no problem being decked out in her best for an occasion.
I gave a look at Gorim to give us some privacy and he retreated to a respectful distance. Then I gestured at her if she would take a stroll with me. She accepted with a smile on her full cheeks and we headed leisurely away from the stalls. Immediately, she asked me about Trian.
I sighed. “He has been throwing his weight again. Reminding each and every noble that he is the firstborn Aeducan, as if they didn’t know already,” I said.
She nodded sagely. “As he should, since the election is coming up. He must be anxious.”
“Yes, skittish as a nug in a dwarven kitchen. I just wish he doesn’t shat on us all while he’s at it.”
She laughed. “Oh Thorin, you were always my favorite.”
“Oh? I had competition?” I teased.
“Plenty. But before you, there’s just no comparison.”
“Good to know. Embarrassing, otherwise. Not looking forward to talking to your father why you chose me and not the others.”
“Oh, don’t worry about my father. I think he loves you more than I do.”
“Hmm. I like my chances. At least I wouldn’t expect him on our wedding day threatening to disembowel me if I did anything funny to you.”
“If you did anything funny to me, I think he’d still adore you.”
I chuckled. This was why I was going to marry her. She had a sensible head on her shoulders and share the same humor as I. We had been friends since childhood and when his father dropped hints that it was time for him to marry, I never hesitated to ask her.
We arrived near the railing overlooking the flowing lava. She leaned on it, the warm light shining on her face and on her dark hair like a halo, and I thought she grew up very beautifully. She is the only woman I’ve spent more time with and I wondered why marrying her never entered my head until she told me one day that I had the right of first refusal for her hand. For many years, she said.
“About the wedding, I want to talk to you about something and you’re not going to like it,” I said.
She turned to me still with that charming, teasing look on her face. “Oh? Is this the part where we tell each other’s dirty secrets? Like you always leave your clothes on the floor so I should expect to pick it up after you forever?”
“Save it when we’re married. This is more pressing.”
She stopped her teasing and waited.
I took a breath before announcing it. “We’re going to postpone the wedding.”
“What?” she yelled, as I expected. I wasn’t aware of the preparations for our wedding but I knew enough that she had worked long on it.
“At least until Trian is crowned. I didn’t like the look I got from him when I announced our engagement.” He looked like he was about to kill me then my bethroted. My brother wasn’t a particular favorite with the nobles, and seeing me, his younger brother, being the toast of Orzammar in alliance with one of the strongest noble houses, must have turned his mood sour.
When we were children, we were thick as thieves and Trian wasn’t this volatile back then. Now that we’re grown, he looked at everyone with suspicion and acted as if everyone was in conspiracy against him all the time. Even his family. And I had no idea why we’ve come to this.
“So we’re not getting married because your brother looked you wrong?” Nerav mocked, drawing her arms across her chest as she pouted.
“Don’t be like that,” I said to her. “We’re still getting married, just later. I don’t want to get married while Trian is in a foul mood. He might crash the cake.”
“Poor cake. I think I should tell the baker to make it from granite.”
“Yeah, tell him to come to me. I think I could find plenty of that in the Deep Roads.”
We shared a laugh, as we always do.
Nerav seemed to be pacified enough about her work being postponed and spoke with the same cheer as before she knew about it. “So, I have work to do, telling everyone the wedding is delayed. And what would the handsome groom do?”
“I’m going back to the Deep Roads, at least, until the election is over. I find I like hearing more of my men’s snoring than Trian’s tirades.”
“So I’m going to play the part of the pining lover?”
“Yes, you do that marvelously, the way you polish your ax.”
She laughed for a while then grew serious. She looked at me with slyness in her eyes. “Don’t you think he has other reasons for being …testy?”
“Like what?”
“Like there having a stronger contender for the throne?”
“There’s no one else who has a stronger claim than he has. Lord Harromont may try, but he’s too loyal to my father. The other noble houses may, but they don’t come close to my family in terms of prestige and honor.”
“Maybe it doesn’t have to be from another house. Maybe it comes from someone who had the esteem of both the noble and warrior caste by his fearless campaigns against the darkspawn.”
I sighed, a deep rumble. “Ancestors, not you too.”
She cocked her head quizzically. “Not me too?”
I glanced at Gorim. She followed it and turned back to me, understanding on her face.
I rubbed at my temple. “What idiot pushed my name forward?”
“It’s been talked about by everyone. If you were just born first, the deshyrs would accept you as king without a murmur.”
“Well, I’m not the firstborn. Trian is. And I would never go for the throne. Not while Trian lives.”
She nodded, looking down, hiding her face from me, and pressing her lips together. I could sense she thought I was just being stubborn and so annoyed at me.
“Besides, I’m not that fond of sitting on my ass all day listening to nobles argue about who owed money to whom,” I added, turning the conversation light as before.
“Well said,” she said flatly as she raised her head and turned away to continue looking around the city.
I gave a sidelong glance at her. “And don’t you want to be Queen?”
She smiled at me. “Well no, I’m not that fond of being Queen, nudging my husband the King awake while the nobles argue about who owed money to whom.”
I laughed. “So there it is; my dirty little secret. You’re going to marry an unambitious man. There’s still time to get out of the wedding if you have second thoughts,” I teased.
“The second thoughts that I have is the color of my wedding dress but the rest of it,” she leaned close and kissed my cheek, “I have no doubts.”

"Teeth" is just a drabble. It's not polished or really even proof read all that well. So just a heads up for readers. It's just writing practice.
---
Overview. "Teeth" takes place in a universe where humans and fantasy creatures live side by side. Usually in some what harmony. Some creatures are capable of blending in with human life and assuming the form of people. There are tensions between human and nonhuman though.
In it, Dustin finds himself in a city, where the local mafia is interested in him. This gang is mainly ran by dragons who try to control and dominate the other creatures in their city. "Owning" other fantasy life to do their bidding and dirty work. Unfortunately for him, he got himself caught by the dragons' pack of wolves and now has to deal with the head dragon himself.

Teeth. Pt - 01
"This creature is something special. Quite a rarity, some don't believe they exist. But they do, and we now possess one." The older dragon smirked looking at the curiosity on the boy's face. The older dragon presented himself as an aged man, maybe 50s or 60s, dressed in dark business attire. A stark contrast in dress to the teenage boy tailing him.  "Do you know why people like us want one under their control? Do you know much about them?"
"Why, Sir? What's different about him?" The young dragon asked shyly. Picking at the fringes of the sleeves on his hoodie. He didn't know what to think about the Master's plans yet.
"He's a cockatrice. A creature of the same scale as us. But more of a bastardized beast than a civil member of society like us. They're notorious for their unpredictable and hot temperaments. It's difficult to bridle and tame one. But if you have one under control. You'll command nothing but respect from everyone around you." He said still smirking, "They can kill a weak willed individual simply by looking them in the eye, and bend the will and manipulate people with a glance. They also have a nasty poisonous bite, to us it's not as effective. To others it can be deadly. But they're mostly all brute and brawn. They'll fight like nothing you've ever seen, but they aren't too intelligent from what I hear." He put his hands on the door, ready to open it. "Just judging what he did to our pack of Werewolves, he's definitely living up to their rumors."
The boy stayed quiet, listening and feeling ever more at unease about this. He'd wished the Master had chosen someone else to help him with this project. He wanted to stay 'just the person who cleans up the messes.' Not one of the hands on people.
"Are you ready to see your new project? He's bound tight, so don't worry. Just keep your composure around him and your will strong and he'll be easy dealing." The old dragon smiled at his young apprentice. He was a medic in training, this would be his first live project on his own. The boy didn't know much about healing or working alone. He was worried he was going to accidentally kill his master's prize - that's if the Master didn't kill it first.
The old dragon heaved open the heavy metal door to the concrete room. A few glass blocks let light into the room near the top of the ceiling, but it stayed dim and dingy. It trickled in in soft cool hues, bouncing off the dust kicked up into the air. Cool, damp, and absent of most color. Even with the amount of light let into the basement level room, it was difficult to tell the time of day.
A naked beaten man laid on the floor closest to the far wall. Buckled over on his side in a position that looked twisted and painful. His hands bound behind his back by shackles, and around his neck another heavy shackle. All of which were chained to the concrete wall by steel eyelets.
The moment they stepped in, Cole, the young one nearly fell to his knees at the heavy energy this creature emitted. The Master felt the waver in his helper. "Don't be scared, he can't hurt you." He offered reassuring words. The two walked in closer, Cole shuttered as they approached the man.
"Is he even still alive?" Cole was in disbelief at the condition the creature was in. Crimson pooled and smeared across the smooth concrete floor around the creature while there were no signs of life from him. Gashes and bruises covered his body. Dirt and grime mixed with blood and whatever else coated his raw skin.
"Check him. He still had a pulse when the Weres threw him in here. He hasn't been checked on since though." The Master cocked his head and pointed the tip of his cane at the body.
Cole hesitantly got close, being cautious and slow with every movement. He knelt down beside the creature and set his bag down. He gently touched the man, his skin cool and crusty from dried blood. He bent down closer to listen. He was breathing, barely. Small shallow gasps. Cole read his energy with a hand on the man's chest. "Sir, he's really faded. I don't think I'm skilled enough to heal this and fix him. I mean I don't know what these creatures can withstand, but I feel like he's not able to handle much more." Cole seemed a bit panicked.
"That's WHY I chose you. I don't want him healed. I want to keep him as close to death as possible. Just keep him stable, that's all I need you to do." The dragon's voice got dark. "I don't want to kill him, but I feel like it might just go that way depending on his attitude. Let's hope he surprises me, and it doesn't come to that."
Cole bowed his head in understanding.
"If it is something you're concerned about. Don't worry about him shifting on you either, or in general. He's been living and hiding amongst people for so long that a shift is hard on him. He doesn't have the stamina to keep it up like our Weres do. But if he agrees to stay with us. We'll revert him back to feral and work on his stamina so it doesn't chew him up so much every time he does it." The dragon poked at the unconscious man with his cane. "If he shifts in the state he's in now, it'll probably kill him to do so."
Cole studied him closely as did the Master. Watching the body try and pull breaths in.
"Well, should we wake him and offer the deal?" Cole looked to his master with side eyes. He didn't think the dragon was going to start off with him this early. He thought he'd at least give the man a night's rest. He had already dealt with the full force of their pack early this morning. Something that's not an easy feat. How they didn't rip him from limb to limb as a single man taking them all on, he still wondered and thought about.
"Stand back." The older dragon commanded. Cole quickly listened and bounced back behind where the Master was standing. With a swift kick that made Cole's stomach twist in sympathy, the dragon railed his boot hard into the cockatrice's gut. The creature gasped and struggled awake. He convulsed in pain and twisted his body with agony. Disoriented, he tripped and fell over himself trying to right himself. While fighting the restraints, he stood shakily and locked eyes with the older dragon then lounged in rage towards him. Trying to attack anyone and anything around him. The chain stopped him short, choking him loudly as the others pulled at his arms causing his joints to lock up.
Still, with pure hate in his eyes, he tried his damnedest to get to the dragon. He didn't care what it would take. He fought as metal bit down and tore into his flesh. As the collar crushed his throat. Confusion was still thick in his head, and he didn't understand much of anything going on. Just that it hurt.
"Settle down you fucking idiot. No one's touching you, you're fighting yourself. Look." The Master held out both empty hands. "Settle yourself. Now."
The man let out a chuff not wanting to listen, but did so just to catch his breath. He eased back to kneel down. He was dizzy and was having issues with his balance right now. The man kept his eyes locked on the oldest dragon. They silently stared one another down. Both trying to assert dominance over the other. The Master didn't have a problem looking the creature in the eye. He had no fear of what it could do. He had the upper hand as of this moment.
"I have an offer for you. Which I wholly suggest you take." The dragon said coldly, with Cole still hiding behind him. The creature's eyes would flash to him quickly and back. "I would like you to join our family as one of my children. You know what you are, and why we want you. If you accept, you'll be unbound, sent to medical, and given a nice room to call your own. Be it, you'll still be guarded until you've earned your trust. But follow accordingly and you'll be golden and taken care of comfortably. If you disagree, well, I have ways to make those agree to take my offers."
The man kneeling before the dragon let out a deep growl from his throat, still trying to threaten the dragon.
The dragon frowned, "I suppose if I get tired of you, I could just auction you off. I know plenty who would bid top dollar for you. Even though you're older and damaged goods. It's clear you've had a previous owner who knew your capabilities well. Your old owner was scared of them." The dragon laid the tip of his cane on the man's cheek just below his scarred eye. The metal burned his skin - silver.
He did his best to stay stoic. But the subtle wince was enough for the Master to see.
"But I'm sure you're still able to over take those weaker than you. Just not quite someone on par." The dragon smiled devilishly. "I knew you were already trying to push your luck with me." He took his cane and jabbed it into the brand that had been burned into his upper chest years ago. "There's also the fact that I can part out your dead body and sell it for quite a bit of profit on the black market as well."
He still didn't say anything back to the dragon. Just glared.
"Let's see those teeth of your's pretty show horse." The dragon muttered with a smile poking fun at the idea of a livestock auction. Again he brought up his cane and stroked the man's chin.
In response, the man spit towards them in defiance. The Master didn't take too kindly to that, and raked the cane head across the man's face - hard. The man toppled over with a loud gasp, but sat back up as quickly as his broken body would allow. A reptilian hiss left his lips when he looked back at the Master. Fresh blood started to trickle down his cheek. What little blood left he had to bleed. His previous deeper wounds were still weeping, while this new one ran freely.
"So will you accept my offer?"
"No." He said lowly with a dry cough.
"Wow! You can speak!" The Master said with fake excitement, but the dragon's smile dropped. "I figured you wouldn't." He sighed looking to the young one. In that split second he looked away, the creature leaped forward and did something neither one of them expected. Flesh tore to scale and feather as teeth nashed. A loud guttural roar broke through the air. Cole got a first hand glimpse of what a cockatrice truly looked like.
The creature thrashed with all it's might against the chains. The deep boom of it's growling and screeching echoed through the room with deafening volume. This wasn't an elegant beast like the Eastern dragon the Master was. Even more brutish than the Western dragon Cole was. This creature was built for chaos and savagery alone. Needle like teeth, hooked claws, spines, and a dazzling mix of colorful feathers that warned loudly 'do not approach.'
But just as soon as he tried to. His stint he pulled ended quickly. Buckling over as his body betrayed him. As the man coughed and gasped, blood began to leak from his nose and mouth. Choking on his own bodily fluids, he collapsed in a convulsing heap. Cole sprung forward to help, but the Master pushed him back and he instead moved towards the creature.
The cockatrice couldn't hold his shift, and reverted back to his human form. A panicked man, curled on the floor. Suffocating.
The Master knelt down to grab him by the collar around his neck. He lifted him by it, and bent the seething man over his knee. Face down to the floor, a stiff arm against his back pinning him against the dragon's knee. Keeping him from moving. The Master used a strong hand to grip the man's matted blonde hair close to the scalp.
Even bent in a face down position. The man couldn't get the fluid to clear from his throat. The dragon, with his free hand, brought it close to the man's gasping mouth. "If you bite me, I'm not above breaking that jaw of your's." He threatened, then stuck his fingers in the creature's mouth to help him clear the thick clotted blood out of his throat.
Cole wasn't sure if the man even knew what was happening, his eyes were wide and in shock, but completely devoid of any conscious thought. As the Master continued to clear his airway, the creature would involuntarily retch and gag. The Master could feel his body harshly contract, but all that would come up was bile. It burned his throat and nose, and through his heavy gasping it burned his lungs each time he'd try to inhale. Just adding to the struggle. The Master made note, "he has nothing in his stomach right now, seems he hasn't eaten in awhile." He said out loud so his apprentice could make note of it too.
The creature started to settle into a more regular gasping. The dragon still held him tightly by the hair, but started patting and stroking his back to try and help him finish getting everything out of his lungs that he could. There was a look of fatherly concern in the dragon's eyes. He may come across as apathetic, but Cole knew the Master did have a caring side at times.
"Just take it easy. Breathe. Let's try and keep your blood inside of you where it belongs." He cooed softly trying to get the man into a normal breathing pattern. Thick blood dripped from the creature's mouth in long viscous threads. It spattered the floor with each forceful exhale. The creature's stomach churned and the need to vomit was still fresh, but his body was too exhausted to try again. The most he could muster was dry heaves as the taste of copper and acid lingered in his mouth.
The Master stayed holding the man like this for a while until finally he started to show improvement. "I knew you weren't that intelligent, but are you really that fucking dense? You're play with your life stupid mutt. If you're gonna act like an animal, I suppose we're going to have to train you like one." The dragon took a heavy hand and ground the man's face into the puddled blood and mucus. Dragging his cheek roughly across the floor. Master stood, letting the creature's body limply slide off of him. "Maybe rubbing your nose in it will get it through your head."
Cole watched the man closely, seeing what he'd do, if anything at all. His sides heaved dramatically as he tried to pull air into his body. Weakly, he tried to move himself into a fetal position, but only made it part way there before giving up. He laid there limp, back to them, and didn't stir nor move.
The Master had an angry look to his eyes as he turned to look at Cole, "he's yours now. Leave him like this so he thinks about what he's done. Just get me his vitals, and get him stabilized. Nothing more. If he acts up, beat him with my cane, don't worry about being nice about it. The silver will leave a nice sting." He said with a sharp tone then handing the cane off. The Master wiped the filth off his hands on his pants, and promptly left. Shutting the door behind him with force.
