As someone who also watched the film yesterday for the first time, I too can confirm that HFC is, indeed, fanfiction!
leaving this here
#monty python#holy flying circus#Fr though#The whole film hypothetically should not have worked like that structure-wise and it could've been messy but uhh guess what?#It actually fit the entire premise and the vibes of it#and IT.WAS.GORGEOUS.#And I guess that was intentional on behalf of the filmmakers of HFC#Since ofc Monty Python also threw logic outta the window in terms of the style and comedy#what with the stream-of-consciousness style/approach that the HFC crew were inspired by and made tribute to when making the film!#Also I appreciate that they went the route that they did and made a whole Pythonesque parody of the event#Cuz in a way the actual events of the LoB controversies were in a way very silly indeed#So I think the film really benefitted from that!#But I also love the lil quiet and emotional moments that came from this film#Especially the relationship with Mike and his wife#it's really lovely and wholesome#Also I can't forget to mention the John x Michael plot they went with in the film#This film pretty much made Johnicael (John x Michael) canon#in universe of the film ofc#Ok uhh rambling over. This film is amazing pls do check it out!!#Also I love Graham and Terry G. in this film they were great!!#Tom Fisher's Graham was the true MVP of this film fr!!!

For the monty python ask: 1, 2, 4, 14, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24 :)
omg thank you sm for sending so many!!! :) i'm really excited to answer all these
One: Who is your favorite member?
this is such a hard question and my answer changes a lot but i've got to say either michael or graham. michael because seeing him elicits instant joy and affection in me, and graham because he is the love of my life and i adore him. but then this is such a tough question and i feel guilty because i love every member of monty python for different reasons.
Two: Do you have a least favorite member? If so, who?
i can't think of a way to answer this that won't get some people upset lmao, but my gut response is probably terry g because of that stupid short film at the beginning of the meaning of life that goes on way too long. OF COURSE he was responsible for that. what the fuck were you thinking, vance
Four: Favorite sketch from MPFC?
i LOVE this question and idk if i've answered it before but my answer literally changes all the time. i have so many favorites, obviously the dirty fork is one of them but also nudge nudge, and this one very underrated court sketch with michael as the cardinal richelieu impersonator, and graham as inspector dim, and although those two bits are highlights i love literally every insane part of that sketch.
Fourteen: Favorite work outside of Python (the rutles, terry g's movies, etc.)?
i JUST watched the rutles and can i say? it is fantastic, and just further cements my love for neil innes. i also really love do not adjust your set and have a soft spot for a fish called wanda.
Eighteen: Do you have an unpopular opinion? If so, what is it?
this goes along with the previous answer lmao. i thought time bandits was really boring and didn't make it through it lmao-
Twenty One: Most underrated Python-related thing (sketch, song, etc)?
i don't have a great gauge for what's underrated or not when it comes to python, lmao, but maybe the records? i think they're fairly good and i rarely hear people talk about them, at least not here.
Twenty Two: Most overrated member?
probably john lmao. outside of monty python fandom, he tends to be the only one people recognize, to the point where occasionally people are under the impression that he is Monty Python lmao. i mean i like john but there was no way i was going to say michael in response to this question </3
Twenty Three: Most underrated member?
SHIT- well. i don't see a lot of terry g content on here lmao, so i guess he's the only answer???
Twenty Four: How did you discover Monty Python?
it's always been a part of my life, similar to a lot of people here i think. i remember watching the holy grail for the first time as a kid and absolutely loving it, and my mom occasionally showed me sketches so i'd seen like. spanish inquisition, spam, silly walks, etc, but it was only recently that i decided to actually watch all of flying circus (and now i've done so multiple times lmao) and learn all of the python's names and delve deep into this fandom and here i am lmaooo
