Renault Alpine A310 Prototype, 1971. The prototype A310 had louvres across the rear windscreen but these were not carried over to the production model. It was powered by a rear mounted 1605cc Renault engine with twin carburettors that produced 125bhp. The first generation model was criticised for being underpowered and in 1976 it received the PRV V6 engine

From: Formula 1 Website - Post Qualifying Interview (Miami GP 2024)
Transcript:
Lawrence: Hey Esteban, when we spoke this morning, you kind of felt like things were maybe getting better and okay, so you get things right. Did you learn a lot in the gap between here and qualifying? And did you make a lot of changes? Esteban: I thought it was a tricky session. I think we unfortunately didn't make a step forward in terms of car behaviour. But on top of that we had a small engine deficit. We lost a tenth and a half in the straights and looking at how close everything is, unfortunately it didn't help us, you know to go through into Q3. So, you know, hopefully that will be gone by tomorrow. It's a different engine mode in the race so we need to see if that has an impact. But yeah, I had small cuts basically through qualifying and we need to understand where that comes from. right? Lawrence: If you can understand it and fix it for tomorrow. You are optimistic that you can be in the fight? Esteban: We'll do everything we can. Obviously, that is always the aim to try push forward and hopefully we can do so.

Enjoy resigning Fernando announcement, I hope it makes you very happy. Dear Lord, what a sad little life, Aston Martin. You ruined my silly season completely, so you could confirm Fernando would keep his seat. But I hope now you spend it on some lessons in grace and decorum, because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.

alpine is the same joke of a team they were as renault just with a prettier coat of paint. literally one of the most well-funded teams pre cost-cap, paid tens of millions for their former WDC winner to return + snagged a then top driver in ricciardo and didn't learn a single lesson. they can't keep top management for more than a couple years maximum, they still can't build reliable engines even without customer teams as a drain, their pit stops are consistently middling at best. they hedge all their bets on a "next year" that they've been building up to since what... 2018? their personnel management is so shit that they can't even get a long time driver for their team to follow team orders and their factories try not to interact because they talk shit about each other. literally what the fuck are we doing. if your french team funded by french taxpayers can't be buoyed into getting their shit together by having two young french drivers idk what to tell you.

Did you learn something from today's sessions? Because I feel like I learnt nothing and we are going into tomorrow blind? Not just with Ferrari but the other teams as well. The sessions felt very... off.
Yeah there is a lot going on.
Ferrari are really hard to compare to the others right now because they are more focused on doing the programs to test the upgrades. In FP1 Charles ran on the old floor and Carlos with the new to compare(seems that yes there is a difference) then Charles ran with the new floor also in FP2 and is working on getting the settings right. It took longer in the garage than expected but they have a solid plan for FP3 tomorrow to get things ready for quali.
As for the others it's hard to judge. As with all FP sessions take everything with a grain of salt since we do not know the engine settings or fuel loads of the cars. We can make educated guesses based on the data but we don't know for sure unless they tell us.
Also I think a lot of teams were experimenting with tyre pressure and managing understeer as the track conditions and layout seem to be geared toward understeer. So a lot going on, every team is doing something different.
Apparently Mclaren didn't bring the minor upgrades they had planned as well. So that's worth noting I guess(mostly since I said a few days ago they were and now that's changed)
I don't think we are going in blind as far as Ferrari goes. Predicting the field tomorrow will be tricky.

OSI/Alpine Silver Fox, 1967. Also designed by Sergio Sartorelli and the last concept car shown by OSI, the "catamaran" Silver Fox was presented at the Turin Motor Show. Using a French Alpine-Renault A110 engine the intention was for the car to break speed records and it did reach 155 mph (250 kph) though that wasn't enough to claim any. Plan for the car to enter the Le Mans 24 hour race we abandoned as the Officine Stampaggi Industriali went out of business

is Ruth on gardening leave? I heard she was supposed to go to Ferrari but then she started doing F1TV
she is!! it's a pure speculation on my side, but there are many factors pointing to ruth joining ferrari next year in my opinion. the question is just how and if she fits into the structure frederic has been gradually creating in ferrari. in the meantime she joined f1tv as an expert and while i don't have f1tv i saw some clips and absolutely loved her unique insight.

Honest question but what impact might the 2026 regulation changes have? Is there any reason to believe that Newey’s designs will still be as dominate with those changes?
The thing about the new 2026 regulations is that no one seems keen on it. Horner was the first to speak out against it last year (which prompted a lot of people to speculate that Red Bull’s 2026 development is not going well), but since then, other teams as well have commented that the rules are technically flawed and needs to be cleared up soon.
Adrian Newey has also spoken out against the new rules. A lot of sources have stated in the past week that Newey is not happy with the direction F1 is going towards with the new regulations which could mean that he might retire altogether.
However, the fact he seems very aware of what issues the new engine rules will have aerodynamic-wise means that he will also be really good at solving them when or if he goes to a new team
