big potential spoilers, feel free to leave this unanswered. re: how can sam be burying louis but also guarding armand. i think sam is 100% burying louis and no longer with armand, that is real, but we only know claudia's death from armand's "pov". SPOILERS for the books and potential future episodes but we still have not seen armand perform the surgery on claudia. i believe armand at that moment, whilst everyone else is burying louis, is chopping claudia's head off and the woman's body we have yet to identify, from some trailers and this weeks "next episode teaser", who is falling to the ground, well... is for the... surgery.

So what we saw there... was not the truth, in any case.

Being Lonely While Being 'Loved'

You know what's worse than eating dinner alone? Eating dinner across from someone who's there but not really there. Who's physically present but mentally somewhere else. Who'd rather scroll through their phone than ask about your day.

There's something especially cruel about feeling lonely while lying next to someone. When you can literally hear them breathing but somehow feel a million miles away. When you're close enough to touch but feel like you're reaching across an ocean.

Being single and alone? That makes sense. That's a clean kind of lonely. You know why you're alone. You understand it. You can work with it.

But being lonely in a relationship? That's a different kind of heartbreak.

It's getting dressed up for date night knowing they won't notice.

It's saving a funny story to tell them but never getting the chance.

It's watching their face light up at a notification that isn't from you.

It's feeling like a guest in your own relationship.

When you're single, Friday nights alone mean freedom. When you're in a relationship, Friday nights alone mean they chose something else. Someone else. Anything else.

When you're single, an empty bed is expected. When you're in a relationship, an empty bed while they're right there... that hits different.

When you're single, nobody texts? Normal. When you're in a relationship, watching them text everyone but you? Soul-crushing.

Here's what they don't tell you about relationship loneliness:

Sometimes it's quieter than being single.

Sometimes it's louder than any argument.

Sometimes it's seeing them smile at their phone and knowing it's not about you.

Sometimes it's realizing they wouldn't even notice if you weren't there.

At least when you're single and lonely, you can do something about it:

Go out.

Meet people.

Work on yourself.

Build something new.

But when you're lonely in a relationship? You're stuck in this weird limbo. Too committed to leave. Too lonely to stay. Too afraid to admit that maybe having someone isn't the same as not being alone.

The worst part? You can't even talk about it. Because how do you explain feeling alone to the person who's supposed to be there? How do you tell someone you miss them when they're sitting right next to you?

Single loneliness is like hunger when you haven't eaten. Relationship loneliness is like hunger when there's a feast in front of you but for some reason, you're not allowed to eat.

At least when you're single, people get it. They try to help. They set you up. They invite you out. They check on you.

But when you're lonely in a relationship? Everyone thinks you're fine. Because look - you have someone! You're not alone! Except you are. In the worst possible way.

Single loneliness makes you want to find someone. Relationship loneliness makes you forget why you wanted someone in the first place.

It's the difference between:

An empty house and a house full of people who don't see you.

An empty inbox and an inbox full of one-word replies.

No one to talk to and someone who doesn't want to listen.

When you're single, loneliness is an absence. When you're in a relationship, loneliness is a presence. A weight. A shadow. A constant reminder that having someone doesn't always mean you have love.

So here's the truth… being alone isn't the worst thing. Being lonely with someone is because at least when you're alone you don't have to pretend you're not lonely.
