Actor Noor Malabika Das, Who Starred In 'The Trial', Found Dead In Mumbai Flat

Actor Noor Malabika Das, who has worked in several webshows, was found dead in her Mumbai flat with the cops suspecting she died by suicide. Das, a former air hostess with Qatar Airways, was from Assam and lived in Mumbai's Lokhandwala. She was the co-star of Kajol in the 2023 legal drama 'The Trial'.

Her body was recovered from her flat on Thursday after her neighbours noticed a foul smell and informed the cops, sources said.

The cops broke open the door and found the 37-year-old actor's body in a decomposed state. They have collected samples, including medicines and mobile phones, from her home as part of the probe. But no suicide note was recovered from her flat, an official said, adding that an accidental death report (ADR) has been filed. An autopsy has also been conducted.

Malabika's elderly parents had visited her and recently returned to Assam. Since they couldn't travel to Mumbai again, her friend and actor Aloknath Pathak cremated her body with the help of an NGO.

All Indian Cine Workers Association has called on Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to conduct a thorough probe into the alleged suicide.

It is imperative for the government to probe the underlying causes behind these recurring tragedies in the Indian film industry, it said.

'It's shocking as you haven't known them like that': Madhuri on Alok Nath, Soumik Sen - In the #MeToo movement, which hit Bollywood in August last year, Nath was accused of rape by writer-director Vinta Nanda. Actor Madhuri Dixit says she was shocked to read names of Alok Nath and filmmaker Soumik Sen, people she has previously worked with, in the #MeToo movement as she was not privy to this side of their personalities. In the #MeToo movement, which hit Bollywood in August last year, Nath was accused of rape by writer-director Vinta Nanda. Sen, who directed Madhuri in "Gulaab Gang", has been accused of inappropriate behaviour by three women. When asked if it was heart-breaking for her to see their names in the #MeToo movement, Madhuri told PTI, "It is always shocking. Because you've known them and you've not known them like that." "It is always shocking when something like that comes out. What you've known them and what you're reading is two different people. It was so shocking." The actor is currently gearing up for her upcoming comedy, "Total Dhamaal". Post which, she would be seen in Karan Johar's production "Kalank", which features an ensemble cast of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur. Originally, Sridevi was meant to do the film, before she passed away in February last year. The role eventually went to Madhuri. The 51-year-old actor said she took time to "digest" that Sridevi was no more. "What took time was to digest the whole thing that had happened. It was so shocking, I was like 'you want me to do this role?' because even they (filmmakers) were stuck. They had to go on. "As a person it was hard to deal. As an actor, you know the role, the script. It's a different matter altogether. But to accept the truth was very difficult," she added. Actress Madhuri Dixit, who has worked previously with Alok Nath and Soumik Sen, accused in different #MeToo accounts, told news agency PTI that it was "shocking" to read their names in the controversy. "It is always shocking. Because you've known them and you've not known them like that," she said. Alok Nath has been implicated in several #MeToo stories. Last year, writer-director Vinta Nanda shared her account of being raped by an actor 19 years ago, who was identified as Alok Nath, based on her description of her alleged rapist as a 'sanskaari' actor. After Ms Nanda, actress Sandhya Mridul and a crew member from his 1994 film Hum Saath-Saath Hain also named and shamed Alok Nath in their respective #MeToo stories. Meanwhile, Soumik Sen was named in an anonymous #MeToo account.  "It is always shocking when something like that comes out. What you've known them and what you're reading is two different people. Alok Nath granted anticipatory bail.

Mumbai: Actor Alok Nath was on Saturday granted anticipatory bail by a court here on Saturday in an alleged rape case filed by writer-director Vinta Nanda. The City Civil and Sessions Court at Dindoshi here heard Alok's plea seeking protection from arrest following an FIR from Nanda, who has claimed he raped her 19 years ago, said official sources. The victim had lodged the complaint with Oshiwara Police on October 17 last year after Alok hit back by filing a defamation case against her in a Mumbai Magistrate Court. Alok had denied all the allegations levelled by the victim and lodged the defamation case demanding Re.1 as damages and a written apology from her. Read the full article

She turned around. “You know how to solve this. Is this really my concern?” 

“But” Layla looked at him. “He is not the type to take bribes, and he is the most violent and feared officer of Delhi. He won’t let this down easily. He will hunt us” 

Layla chuckled at that. “Three years back, I made an army troop disappear in 10 minutes. It had 1500 people. Do you think this will scare me?” Richard gulped, his head down. “How do you know what he is like?” she lit up her cigar. “Every police officer knows about him in Delhi, it wasn’t too difficult,” Richard said. Richard wasn’t one to worry about such petty things- he has known her for long. “Find him” she said, turning around “alive.”

Richard nodded, and started to leave. “By the way” Layla says, stopping a sweating Richard in his tracks. “Who caused the explosion?” she asked calmly. “H-How would I know?” he said, turning to her.

“I didn’t want to kill them, you know. We have avoided police and surfacing of our organization for so long, I don’t want to put that on stake. But their clan, Gangarao’s people, won't leave us- and neither will the police. If the police officer you talked about has any information regarding us, it won’t be that easy to calm down a police investigation” she butchered the butt of her cigar. 

“Can I say something?” Richard asked, hesitantly. “Of course Richard” she said, turning to him. “He took my gun” he said. Layla chuckled. “That was a foolish thing to tell me” she said and Richard looked up, when he heard a gunshot and a numbing pain in his right arm.

"Gautam saab, I believe that we were clear on the terms." Her lips rolled around the cigar in her mouth. The dealer clearly was a cheap bargainer, she could tell. "But you are asking for 15 percent more than the price you deserve!" he exclaimed, leaning forward. "If others started deciding what I deserve, I would be deep in hell, gautam saab" she smoked out. Richard chuckled and she looked at him smiling. "Is this a joke?" Gautam said, and Layla nodded at Richard.

Richard slid the briefcase across the table towards where Gautam was seated. Another henchman opened the case revealing wads of cash. "What is this?" Gautam asked, and Layla sat up, handing her cigar to Richard. "An apology," she said. "For what?"

"The shipment isn't here yet." Richard said and Gautam stood up. "We are not going to pay you even a cent! The shipment was to be here yesterday!" He yelled and Richard looked alarmed. "There are civilians outside" Richard said, but Gautam didn't calm down. She looked at the henchman behind Gautam and the henchman shot Gautam right in his head.

Gautam's body slumped forward, his head falling on the open case. The blood seeped out like a river, tainting the notes in the case red. Beside him, Aloknath stood up, hands slamming the table. "We want our guns. Now." His voice was shaking from the anger. "Alok ji, calm down. I told you the shipment will arrive by-" Layla was interrupted by a guard entering the room and muttering something to Richard. He excused himself from the room.

"-By the 5th. Despite that, I offered you arms from my own collection, because I know your value and name in the market. Keep the guns and the apology, and I promise you exports by 3rd." She stood up now, and Aloknath seemed to believe that. "I don't believe in promises in business," Alkonath said, pointing the gun at her. All her guards cocked their guns at him.

She smiled, moving forward. "Alok ji, let's not get ahead. Why don't w-" Richard bashed in the room, bleeding.

 "We need to go" he muttered and she turned to Aloknath. "Come with us" She said, believing whatever crisis Richard was pulling her out of.

As she followed Richard and her goons around her, Layla saw Aloknath collecting all the money and guns- when the bomb exploded, murdering Gautam Gangarao and Aloknath Kripalu- the leaders of Indian arms market.

#MeToo– the words which have shaped into a global movement now is finally gaining its momentum in India, thus leading to the demolish of several heroes of B-town and from the world of showbiz.

The latest ‘star’ to join the list is veteran actor Aloknath. Yes, don’t get shocked as the latest alleged abuser to be called out is Indian film and television’s very own ‘sanskari babuji’. He has been accused of rape and repeated sexual violations by television’s veteran writer-producer and director Vinta Nanda. The Cine & TV Artists Association (CINTAA) has decided to send him a show-cause notice.
