today is one of the worst days I've ever had.
Instead of self harm, I wrote a my chem lyric on each arm.
Kind of cringe, but I don't care

sure! I'm going to give some options so you can personalize it. copy/paste this post into your email composer, delete the parts you don't want, give it a re-read to see if there's anything else you want to change, then send.
you could even copy/paste this email into a recurring task or calendar appointment so that you stay on your elected rep's ass. If you're going to do that, make sure you keep an eye on what your elected rep is doing so that you can give positive acknowledgement to whatever effort they're making.
I welcome responses with additional suggested ways to word this type of email.

Curtail presidential immunity
Presidents must obey the law like the rest of us

no presidential immunity
Trump v United States (2024) is very bad for the USA

(Brief summary of your topic and position - pick one)
I oppose the recent Supreme Court decision granting absolute immunity to the President for official acts. This…
Unlike the Supreme Court's majority, I support limited powers and immunities for the President of the United States. SCOTUS's recent decision granting the President absolute immunity for official acts...
(pick one or two)
...presents a grave and urgent threat to the rule of law.
...has no basis in the Constitution.
...eviscerates every principle the Founders fought for.
...transforms our presidential system of government into monarchy.
...is a green light for every would-be murderous dictator who might ever be born in our country.
...is an unconscionable federal power grab that diminishes the rights and freedoms of each and every citizen of the U.S.
...ironically makes the lives of Supreme Court justices vulnerable to future lawless Presidents. (be very careful if you reword this one, as you don't want someone who has piss-poor reading comprehension to think that YOU are threatening assassination. you could end up getting investigated by law enforcement)
(optional: one or two sentences describing how this SCOTUS decision affects you or your loved ones personally. Don't catastrophize, though. I honestly could only think of one example, so don't feel bad about skipping this bit.)
I'm a military veteran, and it disturbs me to think of what our country could become under this SCOTUS decision. (ONLY select this option if it's true, seriously. I wouldn't include this in my email, because I'm not a veteran.)
(close with a call to action)
(if writing to an elected rep at any level) I urge you to pursue all possible means to prevent this backwards SCOTUS decision from becoming the law of the land, including...
(if writing to your local newspaper) I call on all citizens to prevent this dangerous Supreme Court decision from becoming the law of the land. To defends our freedoms, we must take every possible measure, including...
(if writing to your federal legislators or to Biden) ...passing a Constitutional Amendment,
...expanding the Supreme Court with additional justices who respect the rule of law,
(if writing to your state legislators or governor) ...passing a state-led initiative to amend the Constitution,
(if writing to your state or city government) ...passing a statute that sharply limits Presidential immunity for criminal and civil violations within our (state/city),
...investigation and prosecution of all financial crimes by Supreme Court justices,
...censure and impeachment of the six SCOTUS members who signed this decision.
Sincerely,
(real name and address, to prove you're a voter within the district that the elected rep is beholden to)
A couple comments on this model email.
Your message will probably be read, not by your elected rep, but by their overworked young staffers. (This is more true for higher offices than for your city reps, but even your city reps have staff.) If they get a lot of email on the same subject, they're probably just trying to make a tally of the public's opinions. "Hey, boss, we received 47 emails about this issue, with 44 against absolute immunity and only 3 in favor." So that's why you want to keep your message short and focused.
You may have noticed that I didn't characterize the SCOTUS majority as corrupt far-right boot-lickers. They are, but that's a side issue. (You can write a separate email about SCOTUS if you feel so moved.) The other reason I didn't characterize them as far-right is that I don't want to activate the reader's assumptions about my partisanship. Likewise, I didn't name any president, presidential candidate or political party.
If you use certain words like "Founders" and "freedoms" you may come across as more politically moderate or even right-leaning than you actually are. Good. Let 'em be confused about you. Complaining about a federal power grab is also good for making them think you're a moderate. Just don't make a false claim about your party affiliation, because they can get that information if they want it.
If they're moderate or on the right, using "Founders" and "freedoms" and such may even pull at their heartstrings. But don't spend too much time trying to work in those USA patriotism keywords, because the staffer who reads your message may only be keeping a tally as mentioned above.
Above all, be truthful and sincere.
no kings no presidential immunity
now that I'm over the initial shock, I'd like to remind everyone of something we all can do:
Email/phone your elected reps at the state AND federal level to briefly, firmly, politely express your opposition to the SCOTUS majority, your support for a constitutional amendment, and your support for the impeachment of the SCOTUS six.
Your state government can't change federal law, but they can pass a resolution in support of curtailing this absurd power grab on behalf of the federal government.
This post is about moving from helplessness to action. I welcome responses which focus on what we can do and what our elected reps can do.
