i can post this here too actually

so today i went to the natural history museum and it was incredible as always. hoyever. as a woman in the gift shop was trying to sell me on a dinosaur field guide (amazing book, love it so far, just bought a copy for a friend and also bought the shark one from the set of 5 field guides for myself too they are SO beautifully illustrated and clever), she presented my professor and i with a Theory.

her Theory is. that the earth was orbiting further away from the sun back in the dinosaur days because the gravity we experience now would not support their size, and they'd be crushed by it! so the whole planet was surely further away, thus making the gravity Different Enough to support them being so large!

and i'm just here like. imagining dinosaurs semi-floating like astronauts on the moon. just bouncing around. skipping like a millipede.

it was the most baffling thing to happen all day and my poor professor was just reduced to nervous laughter and i'm still thinking about her. gift shop lady i will remember you always.
