WHELP I saw Alien: Romulus, (spoilers possible in comments!!), but I have to say I do NOT understand the hype for this movie. It was worse than Covenant, which I didn't think was possible. It felt like AI had a HEAVY hand in it, from script to the terrible deep fake character that was animated in the movie (WHYYYY?). Toward the end I was just laughing at how ridiculous it was, especially the nonsensical use of the famous line from Aliens. One really *good* thing about it, though, the actor that played Andy, David Jonsson-- by far the BEST thing in the movie. Incredible job with his role, I look forward to seeing him in more! Anyway, I like Alien/Aliens, and Sigourney Weaver is all, so here's my original Saint Ripley costume!

The brilliance of Ridley Scott's Alien (one of the greatest films ever) lies in the nightmarish hellscape he created, allowing subsequent films to thrive.

Alien: Romulus proves that Fede Álvarez seems like the right choice to lead the 45 year old franchise forward.

Cailee Spaeny & David Jonsson were phenomenal.

While I would've loved a bit more thematic depth like Prometheus and Covenant, it does seem like a fresh start for the franchise. Looking forward to Alien: Earth.

My favorite production still from "Alien: Romulus." As a stalwart of Gen X & self proclaimed advocate of the movies from that era allow me to proclaim, "Cailee Spaeny, congratulations on attaining 80's status 'Final Girl'. Proud to see you carry the mantle of Sigourney Weaver (Ripley), Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) & Jamie Lee Curtis (Laurie Stroud). There have been others to be sure, Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott) from Scream, but you fought & defeated one of the five monsters of that era: The Xenomorph (Alien), The Terminator, The Thing, The Predator & of course, Michael Meyers (Freddie & Jason, get honorable mentions). ... naja. Zugegeben: ziemlich gut gemacht, gute (durchweg überzeugende) Schauspieler, hervorragendes Setting, ganz im Stil der ersten vier Filme. Aber der Film erzählt jetzt zum — hm, fünften? — wiederholten male die gleiche Story, alles schon gesehen, alles ein einziges Déjà-vu (heise online: "eine bunte Zitatensammlung"). Deswegen, obwohl ich gerne mehr Punkte geben will, nur (7/10) Punkte: gut. Vielleicht wären es 8 oder 9 Punkte geworden, wenn ich den Film doch im Kino gesehen hätte?
