Lionville, the acclaimed melodic rock band hailing from Italy, recently released of their highly anticipated new studio album, “Supernatural”. The album marks an exciting new chapter in the band’s journey, featuring their new lead vocalist, Swedish singer, producer and songwriter Alexander Strandell.

Alexander says, “The new album is a bridge between the past and the future of Lionville and I am thrilled with the final result, a perfect mix of melody and power.”

Lionville was formed in 2010 by Stefano Lionetti, a songwriter, singer and guitarist based in Genova, Italy and his brother Alessandro. Thanks to the incredible songs, they managed to write and record five albums with Lars Säfsund as lead vocalist, becoming one of the most appreciated AOR act in the scene.

“Supernatural” follows the acclaimed “So Close To Heaven” and shows Lionville's new course with the addition of Alexander Strandell, who previously sang with Art Nation. Melodic rock/AOR fans have always held Lionville in high regard and “Supernatural” will do nothing to dissuade them from this line of thinking.

Lionville once again proves why they are one of the leaders of the melodic rock movement, managing to raise the majesty of their music.

Nitrate - Feel The Heat

Formed in Nottingham in the mid-2010s by bassist Nick Hogg, melodic/hard rockers Nitrate recently released their fourth studio album, ‘Feel The Heat’.

‘Feel The Heat’ contains eleven anthemic and hook-filled tracks. It features a duet and backing vocals by Norwegian rock singer Issa, plus further backing vocals by Paul Laine (Danger Danger/The Defiants), Leon Robert Winteringham (LRW Project) and Alan Clark (Change Of Heart).

Heavily inspired by the late ‘80s rock scene and influenced by the likes of Def Leppard, Europe, Journey and Bon Jovi, Nitrate have previously issued the critically acclaimed albums ‘Real World’ (2018), ‘Open Wide’ (2019) and ‘Renegade’ (2021).

The new album ’Feel The Heat’ sees Nick Hogg continuing to work with Tom and James Martin (ex-Vega)plus Swedish vocal sensation Alexander Strandell (Art Nation, Crowne), with new drummer Alex Cooper (Devilfire) and guitarist Richard Jacques welcomed aboard. Together, this sextet have created a true belter of an album that already belongs among the elite in its genre.

Nick Hogg says, “We can’t wait for everyone to hear our new record. There is a real buzz of excitement within the Nitrate camp like never before and we can’t wait for the album to finally hit the stores. Resenha: Creye - "Creye"

Graças à recomendação de uma amiga no Instagram, fui conferir o primeiro full-lenght do Creye. Curiosamente, dias antes, por acaso eu esbarrei com a bela capa do álbum (veja ela aí no alto), ao fazer uma pesquisa na Internet. E confesso: apesar de ter achado a arte gráfica bem bonita e de ser muito fã de Hard Rock, Melodic Rock e AOR, isso não foi o suficiente para que me interessasse em ouvir o material. Tremendo engano da minha parte, porque a estreia da banda sueca é simplesmente genial.

Lançado pela Frontiers Records no fim de setembro, "Creye" (sim, o disco é batizado com o próprio nome do grupo) traz um conjunto de canções empolgantes para nenhum apreciador do estilo botar defeito. "Holding On" (ouça no player abaixo), a faixa de abertura, já é logo de cara um belo exemplo do que virá pela frente. Com grandes arranjos e melodias, competência instrumental a cargo de Andreas Gullstrand (ex-Grand Slam) e Fredrik Joakimsson nas guitarras, Gustaf Örsta no baixo, Joel Rönning nos teclados e Arvid Filipsson na bateria, além do ótimo vocal de Robin Jidhed (filho de Jim Jidhed, vocalista do Alien), a sequência segue inspirada com "Nothing to Lose", "Different State of Mind" (assista ao clipe no player abaixo) e "Never Too Late".

"All We Need Is Faith" não fica atrás, sendo outro destaque do trabalho, apesar de sua pegada mais cadenciada, que logo é compensada por mais um refrão e segunda parte vibrantes. "Miracle" mantém o ritmo desde sua introdução guiada por um violão e igualmente conquista pela ótima melodia e refrão cativante. Com destaque para a camada de teclados que permeia a faixa e a atuação da bateria, "Christina" (confira o lyric video no player abaixo) também empolga pelo ótimo refrão. Na sequência, "Straight to the Top" apresenta backing vocals caprichados que valorizam ainda mais o gogó de Jidhed.

Cumprindo a, digamos, “cota de baladas" de todo bom álbum de Hard/AOR que se preze, temos "Love Will Never Die", que desempenha bem o seu papel. Ao passo que "Still Believe in You" retoma o andamento mais agitado, assim como "City Lights", logo em seguida. "Desperately Lovin'" reduz um pouco a marcha, mas sem perder em qualidade, da mesma forma que "Better Way", responsável pelo fechamento da track list regular do disco.

E como já se tornou uma prática habitual da Frontiers, a edição japonesa traz aquela manjada versão acústica de uma música que já consta no álbum. A escolhida foi "Straight to the Top". Nesse caso, poderiam ter incluído, por exemplo, a faixa "No Easy Way Out" (cover de Robert Tepper presente no filme "Rocky IV"), que encerra o EP "Straight to the Top" liberado pelo Creye em 2017 e que não está no recém-lançado disco. Ok, o EP em questão trazia Alexander Strandell (ex-Diamond Dawn, Art Nation) nos vocais, mas não daria para regravá-la com Jidhed (que depois assumiu o posto) na função? Vá entender...

Crítica à parte, se você gosta de Work of Art, Wigelius, Houston, H.E.A.T. e Eclipse, só para citar alguns outros nomes do gênero (coincidentemente, todos belos representantes do Hard Rock/AOR sueco), então o Creye é, de fato, a sua praia. Não seria exagero algum dizer que temos aqui um fortíssimo candidato a álbum do ano. Pelo menos em seu segmento. Vida longa ao Creye!
