Have you ever noticed that Alear and the Four Royals acts as a Five Man Band? The story may not show that well, but their gameplay, nations and represented Emblems demonstrate that they are this trope perfectly. Veyle acts as the Sixth Ranger (actually 11th Hour Ranger). They best represent this trope as well because Alear, the Royals and Veyle are the only playable characters that can’t die on Classic Mode (oh and Vander too, but he’s just a mentor kind of guy).
The Five Man Band is among one my favorite tropes in media. Why? IDK why, it just is. I used to be a Power Rangers fan, five is usually among the highest these teams get to. In which case it becomes a Three plus two scenario where a Power Trio becomes a Five Man Band (Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, and Jungle Fury come to mind).
I bring up this trope to talk about Fire Emblem Engage specifically, Alear, and the Four Primary Royals fit this trope. And it’s not just in team composition, IMO, the Emblems they are best known for (specifically in the Prologue cutscene) best give idea on why they fit the role in the team.
Alear the The Hero/Leader of the team; because obviously they are the Fire Emblem Lord, they are the Divine Dragon: the only one who can summon the Emblems who can save the world from the Fell Dragon. And just like any other Fire Emblem Lord in the franchise, if they are defeated, it’s a game over. Pretty typical Fire Emblem knowledge.
Alear’s most common Emblem is Marth. Marth is the first ever Fire Emblem Lord in the franchise, the idealistic leader that his loved ones trust and follows. Marth is the first of many sword wielding heroes in the franchise. Swords are a very common weapon type for heroes (Micaiah is the only Emblem in the main game that canonically never uses swords).
Alfred is the Lancer. Who usually acts a foil to the Hero/Leader, usually is their first/best friend/companion, and/or is the first to question any decision the leader/hero makes. Not every character of the archetype has to be a rival or a jerk (or in most cases both), Alfred is one of those examples. Alfred is the first Royal to join. Firene has the closest ties with Lumera, and Alfred appears in more cutscenes than any other Royal in the game. (Double points for having Lances as his primary weapon type).
The Emblem he uses in the Prologue is Lucina. Lucina is the not the central protagonist of Awakening, Chrom is. Even still, Lucina is a character who acts as an emotional foil to Chrom. More importantly, Lucina is the descendant of Marth, who happens to be Alear’s most associated Emblem.
Diamant is the big guy/muscle of Alear’s team. Brodia is the Kingdom of Might after all. Diamant is the most physically imposing with his main stats being his HP, Strength and Defense. Diamant is also the tallest and oldest member of the team (age being 25, Alfred is 21, Ivy is 20, Timerra is 18 and Alear is physically 17).
Diamant’s national Emblem is Roy, who gives Sword Power as an inheritance skill that allows Diamant to hit harder with a sword, but at the cost of avoid. Rise Above (Emblem Roy’s Engage skill) increases his level and stats along with them. Ironically, Roy was 15 years old in his games, Diamant is the oldest Royal, yet Roy is one of the younger FE lords next to Leif.
Next is Ivy, befitting of Elusia’s title of the Kingdom of Knowledge, she is the smart girl. Ivy has gone to school and was at the top of her class. (Studying is also one of her hobbies and likes items regarding them) Ivy is the most level headed of the Royals. Ivy is the only member of this main team that uses magic, and her ability to fly and heal is invaluable in a Fire Emblem game.
Ivy is associated with two Emblems rather than one. Lyn (the Emblem entrusted to Elusia) has the ability to summon doubles that can be used to distract the enemy. While Leif is an Emblem that switches between your current weapons it best suit the situation (often for the worst, unfortunately). It’s also worth noting that Soren is the DLC Emblem entrusted to Alt. Elusia. Soren is the Tactician of the Greil Mercenaries.
Finally, Timerra acts the emotional core to the team as the heart. Despite being far more politically savvy than what her peppy personality might suggest, she still is a genuine mood-maker in her supports where she attempts to get Ivy to open up and give perspective to Diamant on their ways of leading their countries. Her Queendom represents Freedom and is a very accepting person.
Her Emblem is Ike, and even if people mainly see him as a snarky guy, Ike is a very compassionate person. I mean, Ike would have to be a nice guy if he is the only person Soren is unfailingly kind to and is devoted to above everyone else. Ike’s Resolve (pun intended) is the thing that keeps the Greil Mercenaries from falling apart after his father’s death. Gameplay wise, Timerra with Ike act as a Critical Hit fighter with Wrath and Sandstorm. It takes a lot of effort and a bit of luck to make the most of her.
And finally, Veyle rounds out the team as the Sixth Ranger (doubles as 11th Hour Ranger, she is the last recruit in the main game). Sixth Rangers often comes joining in the team after a rivalry dispute and or brainwashing (Tommy Oliver (trope namer) and Zuko from Avatar comes to mind), Veyle is no exception. Veyle is the only other Non DLC Dragon units in the game. Most Sixth Rangers often (like the Red Ranger) have a power no other Ranger does.
Veyle doesn’t have a designated Emblem outside of Marth (who her evil self used, and she has boss dialogue with Emblem Marth in his Paralogue), but I consider Emblem Alear to be the closest thing Veyle will get to a designated Emblem. Her evil self also wears Alear’s Ring in the bad ending.
The major difference between Alear’s team, and the Four Hounds led by EVeyle is that the Hounds were already formed long before the story began. Alear and the Four Royals don’t officially form until more than halfway through Engage’s main story chapters. And yet these guys became a real team where the Hounds failed.

Hello! I have a small request, if you have time I was wondering if you can do Nel, Alear and Yunaka with a S/O who often spaces out and wanders off and next thing you know their like trapped in a hole or something with little to no idea how they got there?
It’s just a silly scenario my brain made up. I hope you have a great day/evening/night!
(FE: Engage) Nel, Alear, and Yunaka's S/O constantly getting stuck
This request was from December 1st of 2023, WHOOPS
Nel simply sighs upon seeing S/O in another pitfall, her red eyes glancing down.
This was not something that should be a normal sight, yet here she was.
(S/O) "...H-Hi, Nel-"
(Nel) "S/O. We have spoken about this."
(S/O) "I-I know we have! Sorry, just...can you get me out of here first?"
Nel reaches down to grab their arm and yanks them out without any effort, watching as they stumbled.
(S/O) "Thanks...Um-"
(Nel) "Perhaps it would be better for you to stay near me on the Somniel?"
(S/O) "I don't want to add any unnecessary stress, Nel!"
Too late for that.
The next best thing would be for these holes to keep showing up. Then again, S/O might fall off the edge if they weren't caught in it.
...Now that she thought about it, who keeps digging these holes anyway?
(Nel) "It is fine, S/O. As long as I know that you are safe, it will not add any additional stress."
(S/O) "So I don't stress you out?"
(Nel) "I did not say that."
(S/O) "Ha...R-Right."
Why can no one in this army ever be normal? Is the thought echoing through Alear's mind as she sees S/O on top of a tree.
(Alear) "S/O?"
(S/O) "...Oh, Alear! Do you need something?"
(Alear) "How on earth did you get up?"
(S/O) "...T-That's a good question, I'm not sure."
(Alear) "I'm starting to think your spacing out might get yourself hurt one day."
(S/O) "Don't worry, I haven't gotten hurt in a couple months whenever I do this!"
(Alear) "That...doesn't make me feel better, S/O."
She has Vander, Framme, and Clanne keep an eye on S/O, much to her embarassment.
But it'd give her some peace of mind knowing that the three of them were on the case making sure nothing serious would happen.
...Goddess, she hoped it did.
Yunaka's eyes narrow as she realizes there's a abnormal shadow hanging above her.
Immediately spinning around with dagger in hand, she's about to throw it-
Before seeing S/O casually laying on top a rather high boulder, making her drop the dagger.
Effortlessly catching the hilt and sheathing it in her belt with a single motion, one hand goes to her chest in relief.
(Yunaka) "Holy CRAP you scared the heck outta me, S/O! How did you even?!-"
(S/O) "Yunaka? Is something wrong?"
(Yunaka) "Uh, yeah? You're just chilling up there like a total weirdo! How did you even climb that, it's completely smooth!"
(S/O) "...I don-"
(Yunaka) "-Don't know, right. Shoulda known the answer to that, hah..."
Everytime S/O does this, she swears her lifespan shortens.

People who talk about Engage (feel free to reblogg this one to promote yourself or your mutuals)
So for those who aren't familiar with my blog, I am mainly doing Engage analysis because I am tired of the constant negativity around this game and that I wanted to see what works and what doesn't works in Engage's world. That's why I took in me to make a deep dive and dig as much as possible from Engage's universe.
Please, if you enjoyed this game, take a look and don't hesistate to share with me your opinions or share those post. I hope you'll enjoy them
*Those are post made by blog who also made Engage post and discuss the story that I decided to include for the sake of recomendation, don't hesitate to give a look
** I might add some others post in this one in the future, so stay tuned

001: for your ship of ships, Yunaka x Alear, and 002: for Timerra
Alear/Yunaka
when I started shipping it if I did:
I started genuinely shipping them when I played Engage for myself, because that's when I realized that oh. Oh this works so well.
my thoughts:
OHHHH THEY'RE SO GOOD. The parallels are immaculate, their dynamic is super silly in lighthearted moments and so heavy during more serious ones, they give hopelessly in love vibes and, you know. I adore them platonically too, obviously.
What makes me happy about them:
Yunaka finding love and support from her god of all people, someone who she always thought would judge her to be irredemable and instead adores her, and Alear trusting Yunaka despite her being expicitly sketchy being the first step in their self-forgiveness. When you think about it, Yunaka's background is basically an abridged version of Alear's.
Just, idk. They make me so happy!
What makes me sad about them:
Oh boy. Their pasts and their trauma. Yunaka's constant self-loathing and fear of her past coming to the surface and impostor syndrome and thinking Alear's too good for her. Alear's discomfort at being treated like a god and feeling alienated because of it. Past Alear. Just... Past Alear.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
I don't think I've found anything that actually annoys me, to be honest. Which is good.
things I look for in fanfic:
Both the fluff with them being silly together (pre and post relationship) but also the angst of them dealing and opening up about their trauma.
That good hurt/comfort stuff 🥲
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
For Yunaka I'd say Citrinne, since you know. "Enemies" to lovers is always fun
For Alear I don't have any other strong ships, so I'd say I'm fine with almost everyone. Except the kids and the rest of their family, obviously. And Lindon.
My happily ever after for them:
Them being happily married and obnoxiously in love while they watch over Elyos together 💕
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
They switch! I think they're very into cuddles, generally :3
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Yunaka infodumping about weapons with the detail of an MGS codec call while Alear listens to her with heart eyes ❤️
Timerra
How I feel about this character:
Love her! She's such a good mix of silly and serious, she can be really goofy but also she's one of the smartest people of the cast and will not fuck around with people she deems a threat, but she's super chill with anyone else!
If I had to describe her in a word, it would be "Fun".
All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Ivy's a fun one (thanks Koto), but her, Merrin and Panette are so polycule shaped. Oh, and Nel too!
My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Veyle! The fact she goes from being among the most skeptical about her to one of the most supportive once she actually joins for good is so interesting, and also the contrast between someone so carefree (on the surface at least) and someone who feels ashamed to even be alive. Just, idk. I really like them.
I think she'd be besties with Alfred too, wish they had supports together.
My unpopular opinion about this character:
She's smarter than she looks, her voice is great and she's a lot more interesting than people give her credit for.
Also the fact the Solm siblings are the most overlooked ones of the cast is... sus, to say the least. This fandom is not escaping the racism allegations.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wish she was more involved in the story. Compared to the other roylas she and Fogado don't go through much that directly involves them, you know?
Oh also while I'm not sure I would actually want it in canon, recruitable Fell Timerra would've been cool.
my OTP:
See above. I don't feel particularly strongly about any of them to declare them my OTP, so...
my cross over ship:
If FEH counts as a crossover, she and Sharena would hit it off really well. Azura too would be fun! OH, and Rinea too. Just thought of it👀
As for other stuff, hm...
BOTW Zelda would be interesting, she and Daisy would be cute and, hm. Her and Aqua would be the crackiest of crack pairs but, you know. It could work!
I dunno, I'm just throwing stuff around at this point.
a headcanon fact:
She absolutely brings Fauxgado with her during battles and on official business. Nobody's going to stop her from bringing her poorly done youngest brother along!

Do you happen to have any sapphic ships for Engage? A lot of the girls are pretty gay most of the time
Thank you so much for the ask, this one is actually a bit tough since I’ve only played Engage twice and done so using uh… questionable rosters of units, so the supports I’ve seen ended up a bit limited.
There are also just SO many amazing sapphic ships, since like you said the girls are gay as fuck, so narrowing it down to favorites without listing absolutely everything is a bit daunting lol.
First and foremost I think Ève and Seforia should kiss, perhaps even kiss me if they’re feeling a bit spicy.
I also think Saphir is just outright, one of the most attractive women in the game. I do sadly lack outright ships for her though, but I read a Saphir x Goldmary fic that was absolutely incredible.
(Sidenote if anyone has some sapphic Saphir ships they love, please tell me, I want them.)
On my first playthrough of Engage the big sapphic ships that popped out at me based on supports were, Goldmary x Etié, Yunaka x Citrinne, and Chloé x Merrin.
Also honorable mention to Goldmary x Merrin, I’ve written it for my lovely friend more than once, and it is safe to say I’ve been converted to her ways.
Also also the amazing Solm polycule with Merrin, Timerra, and Pannette. I love all of them!
My second playthrough when Fell Xenologue came uh… was a reckoning of Ivy ships. Nel and Zelestia both are just, so high up there for me, and I really really love either or both of them with Ivy, or even just with each other for that matter.
Nel actually is probably my engage best girl, because I am not immune to that voice of hers.
The big elephant in the room here is probably the lack of Alear ships. I actually do like Alear, like way more than I expected to going in, and do think that her sapphic ships are hella cute, but a lot of them don’t pop to me as much as some of the other units.

The Fe fandom keeps on complaining about incest but really though... the only canon incest ship in the entire franchise is Arvis x Deirdre and it portrays incest negatively. The rest is brother complex and sister complex trope. Then comes the Avatar that gets a special treatement, with IntSys auto censoring themselves by removing themselves the incest they put with a canonical excuse because they know it would attract less people of it was actual case of fictional incest. In Fates you had the letter with the Hoshidans Royal, and "it's not that creepy to marry the children of your kidnapper !" In 3 houses, it is whatever you can do to explain Byleth and the Nabatheans despite the narrative never claimming anything in that regard. And in Engage, well. In normal times it would be the classical "is it incest if it's your alternate half siblings ?" but in Engage, multiverse explaining why Nel and Rafal aren't Alear's alternate siblings due to shenanigans and sue so that they can bang unlike with Veyle who is platonic . Intsys can't go too far themselves because Japan too isn't a big fan of glamorzing incest between siblings even if anime have less problem with it with America until your remember Games of Thrones. But Fe games are shounen games rpg fantasy mostly directed towards teens, not towards adult even if it can tackle dark topics. So saying Intsys support incest is kind of unfair seeing that it's limited to either dark portrayals, jokes that never paid off since Eirika can't marry Ephraim, and then the Avatar having fake incest options. Really nothing harmfull here.
Even in Asoiaf it's not portrayed positively, the Tagaryen's madness is heavily implied to be linked to their incestuous pairings, the Lannisters blowed over their family, screwed their dynasty and House and ultimately caused a war because of it... And in the greyjoy family, Euron's incest doubled as sexual assault against his younger brothers !
So even in this more, uh, popular media, sibling incest is displayed in a fucking bad light !
Brocon and siscon are common anime/media tropes in japanese entertainment ? But reading some "jokes" especially about the Fe8 siblings makes me wonder if some people really believe siblings can't love (not romanticaly given the topic !) each other and must always fight !
Ultimately yeah, someone saying fe supports incest either reveals a lack of playing the games this person is deriding, or that someone doesn't want to acknowledge that "cousin incest" is authorised in large parts of the world, like the one where IS resides, or they're just trolling.
#anon#replies#Fandom woes#Fe series#The Fe8 wank is the most infuriating though#The twins rely and support each other#The caressing cheek is overblown like#People don't understand family members can love each other ? Seriously ?#I know people joked about puritanism but damn

Fire Emblem Engage - Fell Xenologue Theory Crafting
So, lately, it seems all I've been doing is complaining about FE:Engage. Let's change that. I'm in the mood for figuring out how Elyos in the Fell Xenologue is different from the main story, and I have some ideas to put down while waiting for its release in a week and a half. (From here, Elyos of the Xenologue will be referred to as X-Elyos, and the main story Elyos as M-Elyos)
Prepare for a long post.
First, lets start with the first things to change in the timeline: X-Elyos has seven Emblem Bracelets, and both Lumera and Alear are already dead. The reason behind Lumera and Alear's deaths can be explained by the Emblem Bracelets, I think. In X-Elyos, Lumera had to sacrifice herself to seal Sombron, which, assuming things played out as they did in M-Elyos, meaning Alear and Sombron fatally wounding each other, Lumera's sacrifice would, naturally, result in Alear not surviving. But why? Why would Lumera have to sacrifice herself like that?
Simple, I think. Because the Emblem Bracelets don't have the same powers as the Rings. There are only seven bracelets, after all, so they probably can't access the same 1000 year power that was the focus in the main story, yet alone the Miracle. The Bracelets wouldn't have been able to seal Sombron.
This, I feel, is the most important point, as all other changes spin off of this.
With Alear dead, I think we won't be seeing Veyle in the Fell Xenologue, simply because Veyle would know Alear is dead. We know this from the main story, as dragonstones break upon the death of their user, such as in chapters 21-22.
The new characters, Nel and Nil, I think survived instead because they took the chance to hide while X-Elyos mourned the death of Lumera back then.
As for how X-Elyos is different in the modern day compared to M-Elyos, it might boil down to the fact that there's no central religion. Without some Greater Being like Lumera to guide the people towards what's considered 'good', the four kingdoms fell into more hostile habits, hence the whole 'cold war' going on in X-Elyos.
But now, the most interesting change between the two Elyoses (Elyos'? Multiverse theory's a pain): the Four Hounds/Winds.
We've got Zephia and Zelestia, Griss and Gregory, Marni and Madeline, and Mauvier and... Mauvier. My man really didn't get the luxury of a new name, huh?
So far, we only know generally how they're different, and not a single clue about Mauvier. Zelestia is more compassionate, Gregory is timid, and Madeline is, for the most part, more upstanding. How'd this come about?
My theory is that Zelestia saw Lumera's sacrifice. Saw the Divine Dragon on her deathbed, showing love for Alear, a Fell Dragon, wishing she could have been their mother. I think this was the moment that Zelestia understood what it meant to properly be a family, rather than Sombron's twisted view on it. Thus, we have the Four Winds.
At the moment, this is what I've got. Wonder how much this'll hold up once the Fell Xenologue releases.

Love your fe engage stuff. Can I get Alear and Nel with an S/O who is immortal.
(FE: Engage) Alear and Nel with an immortal S/O
Originally I was going to do a more somber take on immortality, but this is FE Engage we're talking about. Just enjoy the ride with Ups and Downs instead!
Technically speaking, Alear herself was virtually immortal, and thankfully alongside her S/O.
At least when it came to aging. Or at the very least, they would take a very VERY long time to age to the point it might as well be immortality.
That being said, Alear didn't really know how to feel about it.
She'd live long enough to see the things eventually fade, including the people she called friends.
All the while, herself, S/O and a select few others would remain to see it happen.
But, S/O let her see a new take instead. One that confused her greatly.
(Alear) "Just...don't worry about it?"
S/O smiled at her, tilting their head as they leaned back into the chair.
(S/O) "We have all the time in the world, Alear. Quite literally! I'd say it'd be a waste to spend a good time getting sad over it."
(Alear) "I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying I shouldn't think about it at all?"
S/O chuckled and moved closer in order to hold her hand.
(S/O) "What I'm saying is that we should focus our attention solely on the here and now. We're going to have bumps in the future, and the past will bring both happy and sad memories."
Alear looked down at the table silently, a brief moment passing before turning back to S/O.
(Alear) "...Live in the present and be happy with what we have, huh?"
Alear let out a soft laugh before looking out to the Somniel, watching her friends pass by and socialize.
(S/O) "Mhm. It may be a selfish way to think, but frankly, thinking about what could happen all the time is no way to live. So why not enjoy what's in front of us?"
While Alear disagreed on some aspects of that line of thinking, she couldn't deny there was some merit to it at least.
Enjoying the time with her loved ones was one thing Alear could certainly agree was worth it.
Since S/O would be side by side with her the whole way, she figured she could at least give their perspective a try.
Playfully nudging their hand before standing up, she helped S/O out of their chair before motioning to the others.
(Alear) "Alright, we'll do things your way for a while."
Nel was both burdened by the memories of her past and worries of the future.
And having the blood of the Fell Dragon within meant that she would be plagued by them for a very long time.
Though after meeting the other Alear and S/O, perhaps she need not always think about what was, and what could be.
S/O was always happy to drag Nel along and her brother to enjoy the little pleasures around the Somniel, much to her confusion originally.
(Nel) "S/O. You always seem so happy."
(S/O) "Hm? Should I not be?"
(Nel) "It's just..."
She hesitated for only a moment before resuming, speaking her mind bluntly.
(Nel) "Are you not troubled by anything?"
Instead of mockery or offence, she found only softness in their expression, making her eyes widen slightly.
(S/O) "Of course. I think I can safely say every single one of us are, past, present, or future."
S/O sat down on the grass, patting the spot next to them for Nel to join them as they stared off to the skies of the Somniel and soaking the sun.
As she sat down, S/O continued.
(S/O) "It'd be quite rude for me to say 'Oh, just forget everything you went through', considering. But it's the little things right now that are just as important."
S/O wrapped an arm around her waist, making her cheeks heat up, and not from the sun.
(S/O) "For example...Right now, I have the person I love next to me. What about you, Nel?"
Nel smiled, shoulders relaxing as her nose let out a small exhale.
(Nel) "There is...truth in the words you speak. As for right now, I have you, too."
Nel timidly let her head rest onto their shoulder, S/O squeezing her closer in response.
(S/O) "Besides, I recall you saying that rest is important as well."
(Nel) "Does that extend to lazing about at every waking moment?"
(S/O) "It does to us! A life of nothing but work sounds boring!"

Idk man, it reminds me more of a kind of scenario where Kana and Morgan could S support all their potential siblings. regardless, i dont' care. I'd have to unlock their S support to complete the game anyway. but really if Intsys needs to come up with excuse even this complicated to make it clear to the audience that they should not suspend their disbelief into thinking that those characters are related (because fictional character don't exist so how the heck can they be literalt siblings) I am sure they themself know that they can't put actual incest without having problems. Heck, I married a 2nd gen in Awakening and even shipped the avatar with it, I shall be able to survive.
Oh dear, it seems that my inbox has exploded. That doesn't happen often. Lots of anon answers here.
You know that there will be people adding Alear/Nel and Alear/Rafal to their lists of pairings you're not allowed to ship, alongside all those I mentioned earlier as well as any Avatar/2nd gen, Azurrin, Dimigard, Byleth/their students, and all of the eyebrow-raising Pact Ring options in base Engage. I can't imagine being that uncomfortable with IS being as carelessly tasteless as they always are while still playing these games.
Kink ? Nay. It's just that Instys are cowards. they knew that some palyers would be disappointed to not be able to marry them, so they decided to over complicated things to make it sure that we understand that they are not siblings event though their are Sombron's kids. It's for the player's satisfaction. Just like how we could marry the Royals in Fates.
Incest kink is indeed a thing; do some searching on Pornhub or AO3 and you'll quickly find a wealth of examples. Some players will like having that out, like the whole thing with Byleth not S ranking their students until after they're no longer students just ignore that they keep calling them "professor". Some players will whole-heartedly embrace the incest.
I knew that the whole Nel/Alear Rafal/Alear was gonna sparks up between people saying it's incest vs those saying it's not. I personally don't view it as an incest relationship not only because I am buying Intsys's excuse since I have to suspend my disbelief into this, but because in their interactions, they don't act at all as such nor consider themselves to be related in any way. Heck in her supports with Veyle, Nel literaly friendzone her when Veyle ask her to be her sister. Moreover I am not into that kinks boat, I just like Alear x Rafal.
...And some will see the implication and condemn anyone who ships those pairings, even if they're not being read as incestuous. It's a no-win situation all around, although I could just say that that's in the nature of fandom to argue endlessly about these kinds of things. The best thing you can do is ignore the wankier voices and ship who you like, however you like them.
"even though I haven't seen any of Nel or Rafal's supports yet I'm confident in guessing that their Alear supports lean more in that direction than Alear/Veyle does." oh no. In their S support, Nel strays up says "I love you" and has a ring on her ring finger. Rafal is ring findered too while in Veyle CG she had the ring on her middle finger. It seems the localization did buy Instys's explanation... still think it could have been less weird to make Nel and Nil part of Sombron's species to explain why their are fell child.
"provided you want to read it that way". well I have unlocked their supports and Nel is being like "we are not family we do share an heritage" and the others try so hard to make it clear that they are not siblings i can't tell if it's just to appease the player's conscience or if it's part of worldbuilding. After all one could argue that relationship like Pygmalus dating Galatea is incest because he created that statue or something like this...
Yep, that tracks. Online shipping culture is all about finding any excuse you can to bash ships you don't like, so that's definitely going to be happening here.
Never mind the non incestuous explaniation and the ship wars. Will we ONE DAY know what on earth is going on with Sombron/Emblem 0 ?
My silly headcanon for that is that Sombron's missing Emblem is the player, and that when he's added to Heroes the dialogue will tease at him finding the summoner familiar. It would be delightfully meta.
How is Alear supposed to be Lumera's child in that universe ?? Like it make sense because of their hair being full blue and things having gone different but how is it even possible ?? Maybe I should not ask that because this whole alternate world is giving me even much more of a headache than the Awakening multiverse kids being the shepherds kids but at the same time, not their kids.
It's probably meant to be inferred from the solid blue hair. I'm not going to bother looking any deeper than that; FE dragon lore has never interested me much, and we already know that Engage is extremely on the nose when it comes to color symbolism.
Remember how we nearly escaped the whole "jean anna S support" while people were genuinely confused that 17 year old Alear could marry 45 year old Vander but not 16 year old Clanne ? They really had to bring Kaga's vision. Would'it not have been easier to just make the twins belong to the same species without having the ambiguity of them being an alternate Sombron children even if it's not Alear's father ? No ? to easy to simple ? make it more look like Morgan and all the 2nd gen ? ok
The specific ages thing seems mostly about being sensitive about censorship. It doesn't make much logical sense, but at least the ages don't appear anywhere in the game itself so I suppose you could ignore them if you like. I've never been an active Avatar shipper, so I wouldn't really know how that goes. The twins being Sombron's children was I guess done so as not to complicate the worldbuilding, with the Divine and Fell Dragons being essentially two family lines (also mage dragons exist on the side, but the story never does anything with that). See my above note on my disinterest in FE dragon lore.
I guess no one ever tried the argument "well technically those characters are not biologically related because they are ficitonal character that doesn't exist and therfore have no blood nor actual parentsand believing they are the same family is just part of suspension of disbelief just like when I use 2 doll; pretends they are siblings when i play with it and when I am done i totally rewirte their relationship" because it is way too realistic and is the simple true for any anti to ever acknowledge it. would spare the justification though
Pointing out that fictional characters aren't real never leads to anything, aside from sometimes the accusation that liking certain ships hurts real people. This came up in Three Houses wank on occasion, so it can apply to liking/disliking certain characters.

*sigh*
Ok this is going to be the final post I ever make on this issue
Again, in canon both Nel and Rafal aren't Alear's half siblings.
They both come from a dimension where Alear isn't their father's child hence why in the S support they'll mention that fact, because that's what makes them unrelated to Alear.
"But Alear still has Sombron's blood!!!" So ? How is it gonna change the fact that in canon they come from a world where Alear has not Sombron's blood and Rafal having this one line in his S support with Alear ? The writing has already been done, finished approve no matter what arguments you can pull off your pocket so you're probably better off accepting it
"But Sombron has the same DNA, he looks identical" THAT THE LOOK ALIKE LOOKS LIKE SOMBRON IS NOT AN EVIDENCE OF HAVING THE SAME DNA !! Besides Nel straight up explains at the begining of the DLC her Sombron was native to his Elyos and hence had different ancestor so even if you try to replicate irl to a fictional scenario that wouldn't work
"But in X or Y media multiverse is written like this so logically it should" No, I'll stop you right here. Multiverse as a concept is entirely fictional. I wathced long ago a video made by a scientist explaining that the spacio-temporal rules of the universe were so precise that it was literaly impossible for an alternate version of yourself to even exist. Do you realize how many % of chances you had to even be born the way you are ? That somehow your parents would happen to meet in another world and have you in another world and that you would look exactly like you do is close to 0. Any writers is free to wrote about multiverse with all the rules and any rules that they please and I'd have problem to see you say "but it's not like that irl" since it doesn't exist in real life, we have no idea how many chances there is to have indeed a dimension where everything is absolutely identical.
So basically you are arguing despite the canon that this ship might be potentially immoral because even if multiverse doesn't exist because what if the writers are wrong about the own story they wrote because we should ask ourselves if in another world bloodrelationship are kept and DNA doesn't change ? Please find real problems
"But Nel and Veyle become siblings in her support so Alear-" That Veyle choosed to bond as a sister with a fell dragon who hail from a world where Veyle is her sibling because in this world Sombron is still her father is Veyle's decision, it doesn't concern either Rafal or Alear, if they want to bond this way with Nel and Veyle, then it should be their own decision
"But don't you think this is convoluted as all heck ?" Yes it is. But at the end of the day it's what the writers wrote. No one can change that except them
"But if you have to go through all that trouble to make it ok, then that's-" Again, that's nothing. All of what happened is just the consequence of the writers writing what they needed : they nedded Nel and Rafal to be the child of the Sombron of their world to have him serves as a catalyst for their story but didn't needed to have them being siblings to Alear so they made sure that Alear in their world is Lumera's child. Like you really though that this one change, Nel being in love with Alear and the PR being romantic wasn't done on purpose ? You really didn't connected the dots ?
"But no one would complain had they given the Fell twins a different parent!!" Oh I sure don't doubt that but again, considering what the canon says, would it have made that much of a difference ? Besides you can still ship them with the Blue Alear if it bugs you so much to have them being shipped with the regular one. It's essentially shipping the same ship since it's involving the same characters and that if you put Alear in Emblem mode next to Isekai Alear they have the same hair and eye color and it's the essential reason why the twins being romance exist but hey, if it helps you feel better (but if you ask me if you can ship them with a least one version of Alear without it carrying the uneasyness you are feeling that shows how much of a nothing problem that is)
"But it's not a good look when you have to explain why shipping 2 characters isn't ince-" Look, anyone who has been in a fandom will tell you that's the one argument that is easily disproven by people so into their headcanon that they project it into canon and that's not even entering into cultural differences and sues
"But it makes me unconfortable, I prefer to headcanon them as siblings" Which is perfectly valid and understable, you have every right to be weirded out by it and to not like shipping them but prefering a family headcanon, provided of course that you don't try to police people on those ships since... the creator of the characters themselves are fine with this ship happening in canon
"But the fact they let you marry your multi-cross-dimensional sibling is wil-" Again, multiverse doesn't exist so we have literaly no idea id we can have cross dimensional sibling to begin with, we are bond to the text that says they aren't in virtue of Alear changing parents across dimension
"But there would have been so much more potential if they became siblings in canon instead " that's more your wish on the story then anything, because Alear hates Sombron and feel no kinship to him so why would they towards another Sombron whom they never met and isn't even their father in that world ? And Nel and Rafal both comming from a world where Alear isn't their sibling I don't see them feeling kinship suddenly because in this world they are a Fell dragon too since they also hate their own Sombron. Veyle is a special case in case you havent noticed... being their siblings in their world and having a connection with Alear's that actullay relevant to the main story... and being called Alear's only sister in the JPN version.
"But all of this is only so that you the player can marry them" So ?Not only is that untrue since Alear being a Divine dragon by blood in their world wasn't linked to the S support future, but that also means they have even less chance of being related because why on earth would you have the player marry their sister ? You can't even do it with VEYLE. I think that Veyle not being concerned should already speak volume to that
At the end of the day we are talking about fictional characters (aka stuff that don't exist and don't have blood nor DNA so aren't related in any other place then your imagination) that can be romanced in canon sayin that they aren't related to Alear in canon and that can still be shipped with the other version of Alear who is identical in apperance and personality any way. I think by that point it shows that fighting over this is useless.

Hi ! I have a question regarding the ships allowed for the Fell family week. Does Alternate Alear/FX!Alear x Nel counts as the pairing that aren't allowed or is it fine ?
After discussing it with the others we decided to treat it as any other ships, meaning it's allowed as long as it's not the main focus.
In other words it's fine as long as you keep it in the background.
