Marc Lépine’s suicide letter.

This post includes both the Original French and the translated English text of Marc Lépine’s suicide note, found in his jacket pocket, which as well contained two other letters to friends.

English (Translation)

"Forgive the mistakes, I had 15 minutes to write this. See also Annex.

Would you note that if I commit suicide today 89-12-06 *December 6th 1989* it is not for economic reasons (for I have waited until I exhausted all my financial means, even refusing jobs) but for political reasons. Because I have decided to send the feminists, who have always ruined my life, to their Maker. For seven years life has brought me no joy and being totally blasé, I have decided to put an end to those viragos.

I tried in my youth to enter the Forces as an officer cadet, which would have allowed me possibly to get into the arsenal and precede Lortie in a raid. They refused me because asocial. I therefore had to wait until this day to execute my plans. In between, I continued my studies in a haphazard way for they never really interested me, knowing in advance my fate. Which did not prevent me from obtaining very good marks despite my theory of not handing in work and the lack of studying before exams.

Even if the Mad Killer epithet will be attributed to me by the media, I consider myself a rational erudite that only the arrival of the Grim Reaper has forced to take extreme acts. For why persevere to exist if it is only to please the government. Being rather backward-looking by nature (except for science), the feminists have always enraged me. They want to keep the advantages of women (e.g. cheaper insurance, extended maternity leave preceded by a preventative leave, etc.) while seizing for themselves those of men.

Thus it is an obvious truth that if the Olympic Games removed the Men-Women distinction, there would be Women only in the graceful events. So the feminists are not fighting to remove that barrier. They are so opportunistic they *do not* neglect to profit from the knowledge accumulated by men through the ages. They always try to misrepresent them every time they can. Thus, the other day, I heard they were honoring the Canadian men and women who fought at the frontline during the world wars. How can you explain *that since* women were not authorized to go to the frontline??? Will we hear of Caesar's female legions and female galley slaves who of course took up 50% of the ranks of history, though they never existed. A real Casus Belli.

Car pourquoi persévéré à exister si ce n'est que faire plaisir au gouvernement. Etant plûtot passéiste (Exception la science) de nature, les féministes ont toujours eux le dont de me faire rager. Elles veulent conserver les avantages des femmes (ex. assurances moins cher, congé de maternité prolongé précédé d'un retrait préventif, etc.) tout en s'accaparant de ceux des hommes.

Ainsi c'est une vérité de la palice que si les Jeux olympiques enlevaient la distinction Homme/ Femme, il n'y aurait de Femmes que dans les compétitions gracieuses. Donc les féministes ne se battent pas pour enlever cette barrière. Elles sont tellement opportunistes qu'elles ne négligent pas de profiter des connaissances accumuler par les hommes au cours de l'histoire.

Elles essai toutefois de travestir celles-ci toute les fois qu'elles le peuvent. Ainsi l'autre jour j'ai entendu qu'on honoraient les canadiens et canadiennes qui ont combattus au front pendant les guerres mondiales. Comment expliquer cela alors que les femmes n'étaient pas autorisés à aller au front??? Va-t-on entendre parler des légionnaires et galériennes de César qui naturellement occuperont 50% des effectifs de l'histoire malgré qu'elles n'a jamais exister. Un vrai Casus Belli.

Sinopsis :

Cerita ini berawal dari kisah seorang perempuan bernama Alea yang meninggalkan bukunya di perpustakaan, yang kemudian seseorang menemukan buku itu. Alea menceritakan betapa sukanya ia pada karakter fiksi di buku Alster Lake karya Dean Bjorn. Namun ternyata seseorang yang mengembalikan buku itu adalah penulisnya sendiri.

Memiliki ketertarikan yang sama tentang Jerman, Dean Bjorn jatuh cinta untuk pertama kalinya pada pembacanya itu. Ia menyatakan cintanya ketika mereka sedang berlibur bersama di Hamburg, di tepi Alster Lake, menggunakan surat cinta. Tentu saja Alea tidak menolak, karena dari awal ia sudah jatuh cinta pada karakter fiksi yang dibuat oleh Dean, yang ternyata karakter itu adalah dirinya sendiri.

Kelebihan :

Penulis mampu membuat para pembaca dapat memvisualisasikan negara Jerman di imajinasi mereka sendiri secara jelas, sehingga merasa seperti sedang dibawa jalan-jalan ke Jerman dengan membaca buku ini.

Adegan-adegan dalam cerita novel Alster Lake ini dituliskan secara jelas dan detail, sehingga pembaca dapat dengan mudah mengerti, dan buku ini menjadi ringan untuk dibaca.

Buku Alster Lake dapat menambah wawasan, karena terdapat beberapa kosakata dalam Bahasa Jerman yang diselipkan pada setiap babnya.

Sampul buku Alster Lake sangat menarik dan menggunakan gaya vintage yang cocok dengan alur cerita pada isi buku ini.

Kekurangan :

Bahasa yang digunakan dalam percakapan antar tokoh dinilai terlalu formal, sehingga memberikan kesan yang kaku.

Beberapa bagian cerita Alster Lake menggantung dan menimbulkan sejumlah pertanyaan. Seperti ketika adegan Dean Bjorn menghilang tidak dijelaskan apa yang terjadi kepada Dean Bjorn, bagaimana ia akhirnya bisa memulihkan dirinya sendiri.

Lompatan cerita terlalu jauh, yang mana tiba-tiba Alea wisuda.

Kesimpulan :

“Alster Lake” adalah novel yang memuat konflik yang tidak terlalu berat, dan juga menggunakan bahasa yang mudah dipahami semua orang. Novel ini juga dapat membuat pembaca secara tidak langsung belajar sedikit mengenai Jerman, bahasanya, tempatnya, jalannya dan negaranya.selain itu banyak pelajaran menarik yang dapat kita ambil dalam novel ini.

Nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam novel :

Jangan mengambil keputusan ketika dirimu dikuasai emosi. Emosi apa pun itu. Sebab, emosi membuat dirimu tidak dapat berpikir secara jernih.

Komunikasi adalah kunci dari sebuah hubungan. Maka itu, apa pun yang terjadi, baik itu baik atau buruk sekali pun, selalu coba untuk komunikasikan kepada orang yang berhubungan denganmu.

Rekomendasi :

Novel ini sangat cocok untuk orang yang menyukai novel romansa namun tidak terlalu terkesan romansa dan juga novel ini cocok untuk yang ingin mengetahui tentang jerman, budaya, dan bahasanya karena novel ini memberikan sedikit pengetahuan tentang jerman.

What is Social Gaming?

Four Types of Play of Roger Caillois

French sociologist Roger Caillois developed four basic categories of play to characterize the roles in games and their intricacies:

Agon: This involves competition and is characterized by the presence of rules and the desire to win. It encompasses activities such as sports and board games

Alea: Games of chance fall under this category, where ability is not as important as luck in determining the result. Lottery games and gambling are two examples.

Mimicry: Role-playing, pretend play, and simulation are all part of this kind of play. People can take on several roles and identities, which encourages imagination and creativity.

Ilinx: Disorientation and vertigo are symptoms of ilinx. Activities that cause vertigo or changed perception, such spinning or some amusement park rides, fall under this category of play.

Caillois further divided these categories into two types of play:

Paida: This type of play is more spontaneous, exuberant, and unstructured. It corresponds to mimicry and ilinx and is associated with Mead's concept of pretend play.

Ludus: Ludus play is highly regulated and consists of structured, well-defined activities. It is translates to Mead's category of "games" and includes contests (agon) and games of chance (alea).

Are gaming communities becoming less about play and more about monetisation?

According to (Daniels, 2023), the conventional idea of play within these groups has been impacted by the growing tendency of commercialization in gaming communities. More and more gaming communities are concentrating on monetization techniques in order to leverage their user base and engagement. This shift is evident in various way:

Has the Covid-19 pandemic changed the public perception of gaming?

It is true that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a variety of effects on how the general public views games. The consequences of the epidemic on gaming behavior and players' well-being have been clarified by research and studies. Here are some key findings:

Ma întreb dacă acel anon și toți cei care se plâng pentru că Jungkook fumează și ce efect are asupra tinerilor din fandom au aceeasi părere despre toate celebritățile americane care se droghează. Din câte înțeleg americanii au avut o campanie mare împotriva fimatului și se vede pentru că fac atâta tantam din asta, dar cu drogurile (care din cunoștințele mele pot să aibă efecte mult mai grave decât fumatul) sunt ok. Și cu alcolul dacă tot veni vorba. BTS au băut alcool de multe ori live și totuși nimeni nu e îngrojorat că adolescenții o să înceapă să bea alcool din vina lor.

Cred că e o chestie culturală. Fumatul e comun în România ca și în Coreea de Sud. Și fratele meu a început să fumeze ca adolescent, tatăl meu fumează, mama mea fuma mai demult etc.

Asa că din perspectiva mea ca româncă îmi e greu să înțeleg ce e așa mare scofală.

Imaginează-ți dacă fanii celebrităților române are avea astfel de reacții. Eu una nu pot, mă bufnește râsul. Că tot ziceam de vedetele de la noi, de când am devenit fană kpop și am început să mai citesc pe ici pe colo despre vedetele americane mi-am dat seama că showbizul românesc e un mare circ cum nu prea vezi la alții. Chiar am gasit niște postări pe Reddit făcute de un român pentru străini despre Becali și OTV și manele.

Sunt ipocriti majoritatea, tu ce crezi? Plus ca am impresia ca nu au capacitatea de a intelege ca opiniile astea vin de undeva, e un mesaj la nivel societal produs cu un anumit scop. Chiar nu e asa greu de inteles daca iti pui mintea la contributie, dar din experienta pe care am avut-o si eu personal si din ce texte citesc pe social media, oamenii astia au o gandire foarte ingusta si rigida. Nu pot privi dincolo de universul mic in care ei traiesc si au impresia ca ala e normalul, desi e un concept lipsit de sens.

Nu zic ca trebuie laudat orice obicei care ajunge sa faca parte din cultura sociala a unei tari, dar in cazul asta cu fumatul mi se pare absurd. In general nu sunt de acord cu parerile oferite asa, fara sa fie cerute. Sa ma ia pe mine la rost un strain ca de ce fumez ar fi neobisnuit din cale afara, as ramane proasta. Si mai e ceva, ca toti vorbesc de sanatate. Au impresia ca fumatorii sunt toti oameni idioti care habar nu au de riscuri. Atitudinea asta de superioritate ma da pe spate, mai ales ca majoritatea dintre noi avem vicii de toate felurile, mai mult sau mai putin acceptate.

Evident ca n-au nicio treaba cu alcoolul pentru ca nu exista campanii impotriva lui si nu e condamnat la nivel societal. Dar cati nu mor din cauza la ciroza, de exemplu. Cum ziceam, minte ingusta.

De cand am intrat in contact cu k-pop, dar mai ales fanii, simt ca fac parte dintr-un univers paralel sau ca ma intorc in timp la ora de religie din scoala. Numai acolo auzeam aceleasi tampenii puritane, dar macar in cazul ala era de asteptat. Cel mai tare imi dau seama cat e de ridicol cand uneori mentionez vreo absurditate din kpop la oameni care n-au nicio treaba cu asta si imi dau seama in timp de explic cat de fucked up e. Mai mult decat in general. Pentru ca nimeni cu scaun la cap nu s-ar preta la un comportament pe care il au fanii kpop. Cel putin fenomenul e studiat, ca altfel ar fi pacat sa se piarda.

Si ca sa ajung la ultima parte din mesajul tau, frate nu pot sa cred ca mi-au revenit toate amintirile cu showbizu romanesc. Cred ca le-am reprimat, ca uitasem tot circul de la tv. Eu nu mai urmaresc de ani buni, nici nu stiu cine e acum in prim plan, am ramas cam blocata in anii 2000 cand vine vorba de astia. Am citit postarile alea de pe reddit, nici nu pot sa-mi imaginez cum ar intelege strainii. Oricat de bine s-ar explica, you'd have to be there. Plus nuantele. Serialul Elodia a fost mai ceva ca toate telenovele la vremea aia. Si atunci nu intelegeam cum naiba nu se mai termina. Eram in scoala generala in 2007 si imi aduc aminte ca asta era subiectul principal. Si multe altele.

Si apropo, de curand mi-am adus aminte de marea telenovela de pe Acasa, Numai Iubirea. Ca jumatate din popor se uita. Cumva as baga fenomenul asta tot la absurditati din tv romanesc pentru ca tin minte cum au mediatizat si promovat o scena de viol. Nu mai tin minte numele personajului, dar Adela Popescu juca personajul, era sora cu nebuna de Zavoranu. Anyway, era ceva normalizat. Episod dat si in reluare ziua in amiaza mare cand te uiti cu bunica la televizor. De atunci am mai evoluat, cred eu, dar in acelasi timp mi-ar ajunge sa dau canalul pe pro tv la emisiunea lui Maruta ca sa vad ca tot am ramas mult in spate.

Si americanii au trash tv, dar nu cred ca se compara cu showurile care se faceau la televiziunea romana. Cum explici ca un politician era lasat sa vina in direct sa faca cele mai groaznice comentarii pline de injuraturi si sa nu existe consecinte? Sau Diaconescu aruncat in tomberon acolo in platou? Nici Caragiale nu ar fi anticipat ce s-a intamplat la noi post-89. Ne-am mai redresat si noi o data cu economia si aparitia unui middle class.
