I tried the Aldi's Specially Selected Pumpkin Cheesecake Drizzled Caramel Corn and it was pretty good. The popcorn was creamy and crunchy with a light cinnamon taste to it.
I'm surprised these were still good and I would eat these again.
Got at Aldi.

Uk supermarket tierlist because I saw a TikTok and their tierlist was simply wrong so here is mine
1. Lidl, cheap and not as crowded as Aldi. Very similar stuff but with a better overall vibe. Love Lidl <3 Get the app for shopping and get your partner in crime to get the app too but only use one of yours, every season or so they’ll hand out £5 off vouchers if you’re not a regular user of the app. The cat treats are good too. They’ve recently increased their cat food selection to have some more common brands now which is good too. Their own brand licki licks are the best bang for your buck on the market and highly worth trying for picky cats or cat meds.
2. Aldi, go there if you can’t go to Lidl. It’s too loud and crowded for me and the queues are annoying. I’m honestly not a fan. The queues remind me of primarks a Saturday. The stuff is cheap though
3. Sainsburys, go there when you’re feeling fancy ✨ genuinely though I go there once every so often for a special shopping experience. The blueberries are MASSIVE. Don’t get scammed by the garlic chives though, they’ll register as 2.25 but they’re actually £2.00. They have a decent cat food selection, a lot of fancier stuff too like Blink and scrumbles.
4. Asda, you go here when you need some specific and Aldi / Lidl don’t sell it. The vibes are fine, it’s not too crowded but it’s realll expensive for somewhere that used to be affordable, thanks for that one rishi (you don’t deserve my capital letters, you improper noun). The cat food selection here is okay but should be better. There’s not much range here but they have your classics like whiskas and felix.
5. Home bargains, SO MUCH FUN. Like fuck actually getting groceries, this is the trip of a lifetime. Don’t go there too often cause the novelty will wear off but god damn if the shit isn’t cheap and handy. Good for the occasional stroll, recommend going once every 6 months for funsies. You can go more often if you’re rich like that but we can’t afford that in this household. Limited cat food options, a lot of weirder unknown brands and paste texture cat food which hashbrown refuses to eat.
6. Morrisons is here next for sentimental value. Also breakfast was good here as a child and I like how much stuff they have. I like their cat food range but it’s not as good as Sainsburys.
7. Tesco, my fellow brits will hate me for this one but I don’t like the vibes of Tesco. The people there are just as poor as me but give off the vibe of feeling too proud to go to Lidl, like suck it up, the red bell peppers are 59p and the ones at my Lidl are huge. I weigh them sometimes for fun and they’re around 300grams, just go to Lidl. Decent selection of cat food too and they do seem to care about the price and affordability of it.
8. Green Co op, stuffs hella expensive for some reason and you can’t use the green co op card in the blue co op and vide versa which is really annoying but my sister likes going here so it’s eighth. The sweet selection is fine though.
9. Blue co op, we don’t need blue co op
10. Marks and Spencers, bomb cookies and gift stuff. Not much else, too expensive and we aren’t here living the lavish life.
Dishonourable mentions
11. Iceland, decent cakes but why go here when the range sells them too and the range is so much more fun to look through
12. Waitrose, who can afford this and why haven’t we eaten them for sustenance yet???

Was on Pinterest (I know, I do sometimes cheat on Tumblr with the Pretty Plagiarism Hellsite, I'm not proud of it)
Anyway, I saw this and just about threw my phone...
Tumblr media
(I didn't throw my phone because I have to use it to sign into the work VPN so I can keep my job)
But I literally saw red for a brief second.
My fridge, freezer, and pantry currently consist of about 20 eggs, half a loaf of bread (gift from my mother), several servings of cooked black beans, some cooked white rice, a bag of frozen peas, about five frozen chicken nuggets, a pound of dry white rice, a small jar of dried lentils, a small jar of split peas, a slightly larger jar of pinto beans, two packets of minute rice, two packets of ramen (another gift from my mother at kiddo's request), several cans of spaghettios, several cans of tomato paste, two tins of tuna, a few packets of instant oatmeal, a tin of hopefully not stale steel cut oats, and some bisquick for pancakes & waffles.
I do have a little less than a pound of flour, and things like sugar, baking soda, baking powder, some spices, some condiment packets, vinegar, and some boullion. Oh, and some coconut oil that's been in the freezer for awhile, meant for making hand cream, but isn't rancid so it's getting used for coating the electric skillet and waffle maker once we'd run out of olive oil and butter.
This is what we'll be cooking with until the next pay day/grocery day in two weeks.
So, I'm not quite at the level of food insecure, but I'm pretty damn broke.
And the pictures on that pin are just nothing like what we're able to eat. Ever. For at least the last 10 years. I don't even remember the last time I was able to buy meat on a regular basis.
Canned chili with meat instead of beans and chicken nuggets are like Special Occasion foods for kiddo and I rarely have any (because I can easily sub beans, kiddo has sensory issues with most beans).
I might get myself a single chicken pot pie from time to time, especially in the winter. But I can't afford to buy like cuts of chicken to make my own. It's too much money to spend at once on just one thing. My $35 grocery shops twice a month have to cover a LOT.
Plus when we moved in (2021), the stove/oven was broken, so we had a scrapper haul it away for the recycling value. So we've been using a toaster oven and small electric skillet since then.
I had a little remorse at my knee-jerk reaction to the cover photo, so I clicked into the blog to see what the actual list was like. Title of the blog is Boss Single Mama, so maybe she knows what she's talking about. Maybe she's been there for real.
Nope. Chicken, beef, ham, almost every dish has meat. Cheeses and other dairy, a variety of vegetables, all things that we get very sparingly and use in small amounts on many meals, not as a main ingredient.
And even thinking back to my childhood it wasn't much different. We shopped at Aldi before it was cool and their selection was far more limited. Most of our meals were rice or pasta based, with meat only appearing as ground beef, tuna, and sometimes bologna.
Hot dogs were a special treat and even those weren't used on a bun. They were cut up in a pasta salad or casserole. Sometimes if we had a few leftover we would eat them the next day fried in a pan and wrapped in bread or a tortilla and that was a good day! We bought the cheap cheese in blocks and had to grate it because Aldi didn't even carry shredded cheese back then.
This is the kind of thing that makes me feel like when most people talk about being broke, or living frugally, or thrifty, or struggle meals, or whatever the trendy phrase is... They're talking about something vastly different than my daily life.
And it just makes me feel crappier about how I'm raising my kiddo, and it seems like there's so few resources to help people who are actually struggling. Whose lives don't look like a Boss Single Mama blog.
Anyway, if you ever feel the same way, you aren't alone. I raise my bowl of bean & tomato sauce rice to you! We are survivors, in spite of it all.

an independent and selective multi-muse roleplay blog with fluctuating activity, expect highly nsfw (violence, drugs, trauma & mature themes) and smut friendly writing with a personal preference for all things gay. this is a side-blog so i cannot follow back, which makes this blog not mutuals only. muses are written by decimus, 30+, qpoc, any pronouns, advanced lit. all muses are dominant and tops.
not looking for anymore threads on discord at this time.
OPEN STARTERS. MEMES. WISHLIST. WANTED OPPS.
rules & roster of muses,
oo1. When I say all muses are tops and dominant, I mean that I am experienced enough to know what I'm comfortable writing and that is it. Do not try to force switching on me. I also tend to selectively like brats (brats do not automatically make a bottom better written and I don't know how that thought process even started tbh.) oo2. With that said, all of my muses are complex and multi-dimensional in some way. My men have thoughts, feelings, dreams, goals, and personal preferences, and will absolutely soften for the right ships with chemistry. I'm not the writer for you if you believe tops/doms should be automatic kink-dispensers with no emotion or depth. oo3. You will see kinks as dark and heavy as non/dubcon, werewolves/monsters, possessiveness, public play, blood play, pain play, kidnapping, gun/knife play, violence, etc. You'll also see that mixed in with earned fluff and romance; I can play some very hard doms or terrible men but even they can be open to romance, no matter how dysfunctional. Therefore, follow at your own risk, or talk to me about your limits if we are roleplaying together. Any attempts at blog policing will result in a block, though. oo4. Biggest limits are probably any age regression, diapers, scat, feet stuff, writing submissive characters myself, racism/bigotry, poly relationships.
oo5. We can always move to discord if that's what you prefer. I have enough discord threads for right now but can use it to ooc chat.
oo6. I will admit I am picky. If a reply doesn't inspire me or I'm not having fun with a rp, I have no issue dropping and I am very ghost friendly. I can be open to restarting or trying multiple threads for the right partner; if I talk with you or roleplay with you often, that means I enjoy your writing and to feel free to come to me with new ideas or reply to other starters I may have.
oo7. I'm a queer person of color and this is a safe space for your muses of color. In fact, I prefer interacting with them.

It's beginning to look like: the "special select" store-(?)brand Aldi's butter crackers with chocolate. Other local stores sell similar looking ones, but the chocolate is much worse in those.
The dark chocolate ones are pretty sinful for snacks.
Humor me, Tumblr,
Your extremely nerfed fairy godmother appears and offers to magically resurrect one discontinued corporate food item for you, in perpetuity.
What do you ask her for?
Personally I'm still pining for peanut chexmix.

Dollar Tree: Dollar Tree is a great place to stock up on cleaning supplies, party decorations, and even some food items at just $1 each. With a little creativity, you can find plenty of household essentials at a fraction of the cost you’d pay elsewhere.

In a move to help shoppers save money, the grocery chain will be offering discounts on seasonal favorites like picnic essentials, BBQ must-haves, travel-ready snacks, and better-for-you foods. According to Aldi President Dave Rinaldo, the decision to drop prices was made in light of the growing concerns about inflation. The goal is to make it more affordable for people to enjoy time with friends and family, as well as to spend time outdoors during the season. In a press release, Aldi announced that shoppers can expect to save around $100 million with the price reductions, nearly double the amount saved last year. In 2023, customers saved over $60 million thanks to similar campaigns by the grocery store. Some of the products that will see price reductions this summer include Specially Selected French Baguette, Macarons, Vitalife Assorted Kombucha, Simply Nature Organic Pinto/Kidney Beans, Season’s Choice Frozen Blueberries, USDA Choice Black Angus Sirloin Steak, and Season’s Choice Frozen French Fries. Aldi, 15535 Whittier Blvd, Whittier, CA 90603
Tumblr media
ALDI is owned by a German company that also owns Trader Joe’s. They share some similarities, including an everyday low price strategy and exclusive private label brands (i.e., only available at ALDI). You can really save a great deal on staples and household items. Some of the packaging looks very similar to name brand packaging. The departments aren’t staffed, so it’s limited service and limited selection. They have some specials every week.
The store was clean and well lit, with wide aisles. It’s a great place for staples like milk, eggs, and cereal.
They have fresh produce, cereal, frozen food, canned food, spices, pantry items, cheese, meat, seafood, beverages, snacks, wine, candy, garden items, cookware, personal care items, cleaning supplies, fresh flowers, seasonal items, etc. They have some organic food. The prepared foods selection is limited.
I like to get the holiday items like heart shaped pizzas for Valentine’s Day, ghost-shaped pizza for Halloween, and Christmas tree-shaped pizza. Their frozen foods aren’t as tasty as TJ’s. The baked goods are better at TJ’s as well.
Deposit 25 cents if you want to use a shopping cart. I like to bring my own bag and use it to put my groceries in while I’m walking around the store. Bag your own groceries.
