Word count: 303
The moment I walked in class I felt ice water get poured on me and the fact that it was freezing outside too. I looked to my right to see hiba laughing like crazy "what? Can't handle the cold" she said while laughing. I couldn't say anything I felt week and all I did was run to the bathroom.
The moment I went in all I did was cry I felt hopeless I couldn't even stand up to myself. While I was crying I heard someone calling my name from outside the stall."(f/n)?...(f/n)!" She called my name louder "what do you want?" I asked "I just want to help"the girl answered. I opened the door a few minutes later just to see her waiting for me "who are you?" I asked "Really? were in the same class and you don't even know me? I'm Nadeen" Nadeen answered in surprise "well I'm (f/n) but I guess you already know that and I don't really pay attention to anyone not even my classmates so iam sorry if I offended you"
"No, no it's ok" she proposed."Why did you follow me?" It was the only question that was running in my mind right now "well I saw what tasneem and hiba did to you and I felt bad and I wanted to see of your okay" I couldn't help but let out a small smile no one have ever stood up for me before so this felt new to me it felt good "we have to go before class starts ,if they look at you just ignore them" nadeen requested "your right we should go" I washed my face before leaving the bathroom so I it doesn't look like I have been crying and went with nadeen to class.
This is my first ever fanfict and series and I'm a bit new sorry if the chapter is short. If you guys have any tips for me feel free to tell me because I really need them

-----------------------
“Sorry for being so late”, I apologized to Tasneem.
Usually I was one of the first to arrive as she was my best friend, together with Hiba of course. I would help Tasneem prepare everything for her famous pajama parties instead of being the last one to come like today.
But my parents had needed my help with no chance to decline.
“It's alright. You're just on time”, she assured me. “We're going to start playing some games now.”
“Great”, I rejoiced and made my way over to the living room that was almost as familiar to me as my own.
“Hey guys!”, I greeted the other guests.
I was surprised at seeing Sarah and Farah here, but decided against bringing it up.
Without thinking about it I settled down next to Hiba who immediately sent me a teasing grin, making my heart flutter. Damn gay panic!
“We're all putting our phones onto the table and read out any messages that come in. Calls will be on speaker”, Farah explained excitedly.
“Are you in?”, Hiba challenged me.
“Sure”, I agreed and pulled me phone out to place it on the table.
It turned out to be rather boring than thrilling when we were waiting.
That did not mean that I was happy about my phone being the first to ring. It did not help that it was a group call from my friends.
“Who is it?”, Enas wondered.
“My idiot friends”, I stated dreadfully.
“Come on, you gotta answer it”, Tasneem encouraged me.
Reluctantly I tapped on the accept button.
“Hey (f/n)! What are you up to? Wanna play some games together?”, Noor suggested.
“Sorry guys, but I don't have time for you right now”, I let them down.
“Oh, come on! Don't leave us hanging! It's gonna be fun”, Yasser tried persuading me.
“She's probably just too busy with Hiba to grant us her company. Seems to be the only thing on her mind lately anyway”, Safaa proclaimed. “We can't compete with her.”
“Safaa, shut up”, I growled, feeling my cheeks beginning to heat up.
“Why so shy now? The last time we talked about her you got way too overprotective. Where's your sass now?”, Noor reminded me.
“Just stop, guys! This isn't funny”, I proposed.
“It's not our fault that you're Hiba's puppy”, Safaa declared.
Now the guys started chanting the words “Hiba's puppy” in perfect sync.
Automatically my hand moved to end the call. Sometimes I hated my friends, although I loved them at the same time. It was complicated.
“Wow”, Enas exclaimed. “What was that about?”
“Yeah, (f/n)”, Hiba chimed in, grinning at me. “What was that about?”
“It was nothing. Let's just get back to the game”, I attempted changing the topic.
“Nah, you're not getting out of this so easily. So tell me”, Hiba requested teasingly.
She did not stop moving closer until I was basically trapped underneath her, nowhere to go.
“Why did they call you my puppy?”, she questioned, mere inches away from my face.
I could barely comprehend the situation, no chance of forming any words as my head felt like exploding from heat and embarrassment. Hiba was too close to allow me to think clearly.
That everyone was staring weirdly at us, especially me, did not exactly help either.
“So what is it?”, Hiba continued taunting me.
“Hiba, I think you're going too far”, Tasneem assumed, apparently noticing my dire situation.
“Come on! It's just fun”, Hiba brushed it off and sat back down, allowing me to straighten up as well.
My heart was still pumping hard and fast. This had gotten out of hand way too quickly.
Luckily for me Sarah's phone was the next to ring, leading to a way more severe kind of drama including Nadeen and Omar.
So I was off the hook. At least I thought that way until Hiba confronted me again when I got up to get some more water.
She stopped me in the kitchen. “Seriously. What was all of that about? Your friends calling you my puppy?”, she inquired.
This time she was not teasing me in the slightest.
“It's embarrassing”, I alluded.
“So what?”, she scoffed. “I've known you for years. What could be so embarrassing that you don't dare to tell me when we're alone?”
“Well, that's exactly it. It's about you”, I pointed out.
“Then tell me”, she encouraged me.
A nervous sigh left my lips. “Fine. Noor called you hot and ...”
“He did?”, she interrupted me, a victorious grin adorning her face.
“Do you want me to tell you now or not?”, I ranted.
“Okay, okay. Calm down”, she shot back.
“Well … I kinda got angry at him because … I was jealous … or overprotective like they called it. I mean he's right. You're hot. And funny. And loyal. And brutally honest from time to time. And I just wanted to keep it all to myself”, I confessed. “Because I don't want him to become your boyfriend or even a hookup. I don't want anyone to be … except myself.”

Next Part
Thanks for the request and (not) sorry for the cliffhanger. Was kinda in the mood for it.

Just you and me within these walls Ch.1
Pairing: Hiba x Female!Reader
Word count: 4436
Hiba is one of the most popular girls at ‘AlRawabi School for Girls’. She is best friends with Tasneem. She and Tasneem are the “queen bees” of the school. They are popular, adored and looked up to. Well Tasneem is, Hiba is known to have a more “Bully-like” Persona, she is bitchy, rude and she isn’t afraid to state her point. Which meant that Tasneem was seen as a complete angel,a girl who could do no wrong. You were friends with both of them, despite all the negativity you got, especially since you were closer to Hiba.
You were hanging out in your room, waiting for the rest of the girls. It was your turn to host the sleepover this time, you noticed Hiba staring at you.
"What Hiba?” Hiba chuckles to herself.
“Oh I’m just thinking” You notice a small smirk on her face, you can’t really tell if it’s sinister or innocent. She is thinking about something.
"Well don't hurt yourself" you teased
“Oh shut up..” She said with a giggle, she obviously didn’t mean anything by it, just some light-hearted teasing.
"What's on your mind?"
“You wouldn’t want to know…” She replied, she seemed distracted still, and not in the mood for any long or deep conversations. Just a light chat and a quick catch up. She looked over at you with that same smirk.
"So it is something dirty" you teased, you knew her too well. She rolls her eyes, trying not to giggle.
“You know me so well, don’t you?” She smirked playfully, she had always been rather vulgar when it came to these things. She liked talking about things that were inappropriate. You moved closer to her
“And what would that be?"
“Why do you wanna know so much?” She chuckled, she was enjoying playing this small game with you. She looked over at you,her eyes narrowing a little as if she was observing you. She still hadn’t answered your question about the ‘something dirty’ part.
"Since when did you become so shy?" You teased her even more,as you moved even closer. Hiba’s face began to heat up, she didn’t realize how close you had gotten to her.
“I’m not shy…. I just… don’t see why it matters…” She kept her gaze focused on yours, she felt a little embarrassed. She was just playing the game back but it looks like she was slowly losing. She looked away from you
"If it doesn't matter then tell me,what were you thinking about?" Hiba looked back at you, slightly flustered, she looked quite embarrassed now, since when was she so shy? She was normally so blunt and didn’t care about this type of stuff, she hated being vulnerable and this feeling.. She didn’t like it. She sighed.
“You know.. just stuff you don’t wanna hear about…”
"What if I wanna hear about it?" Hiba is now more embarrassed and slightly red, she glances back at you, avoiding your gaze
“You really don’t.. you’d think it was really gross…” She didn’t even realize how much she was blushing, this was not normal, she was never this shy before and the fact that it was with you was even more surprising.
"Just tell me,I can handle it"
“You really sure you wouldn’t hate me afterwards?…” She looked back at you for a split second, the heat wasn’t easing or going away, she was trying her hardest not to burst into a fit of giggles, her mind just raced with possible scenarios and things that could happen after she told you. She was hesitant, so she looked away again.
"Whatever it is,I promise I won't hate you" Hiba looked back at you, she looked so nervous to even speak about this, she hated feeling this way, but you were so persistent. She could tell you genuinely weren’t going to hate her. She gulped.
“Umm…. It’s really gross, I swear….” She was so shy now. She had never been like this before, especially around you.
"Hiba,just tell me"
“Okay, but just for a second you can’t laugh alright?” She cleared her throat, she didn’t like being this nervous in front of you, she was losing the game and you had already won before she even started playing, now she was stuck at the “Tell me” stage with nowhere else to go. Now she had to say it.. she’d never been this embarrassed before. Her heart pounded so fast and she could feel her hands trembling.
“Are you ready?” She swallowed, her voice had broken a bit, in her mind, this sounded way worse than it actually was. She had never spoken about these things ever.
“It’s… uh…” She glanced away again, she couldn’t get her eyes of your gaze, they were so pretty and they seemed to be staring at her soul. She sighed again. “Fine. But I warned you…” You waited for her to speak up. She sighed one last time before she finally spoke. Her heart was beating so fast, she felt the adrenaline course through her veins. She hated this feeling so much, but there was no getting around it. She had to do it. She spoke.
“I was thinking… ab… about…” She paused, she didn’t want to utter those words out of her mouth. She felt as if she were too embarrassed she’d just burst out crying. A nervous chuckle escaped her mouth, she looked over at you, wondering what you’d say now..
"About what?"
“D… Don’t laugh ok…?” She kept glancing away with each word she said, she didn’t want you to think she was some sort of perv. She felt sick, she felt like throwing up thinking of how you’d react but she just had to do it, she had come this far. She decided to speak it out just to get it over with. She sighed once more, opening her mouth to say it again finally…
"I promise I won't laugh"
“Fine…” She cleared her throat, she took a deep breath to prepare herself for what was to come. She looked at you one last time before she said it. As soon as she spoke, she felt such an enormous wave of regret washing over her. She felt an enormous rush of shame that could practically suffocate her.
“I was thinking about…” She gulped. “….you…”
"Me,what were you thinking about me?" Her heart beat even faster than before and she flushed a bright red. She was now just staring at the floor, she felt like she could just faint at any moment. She was trembling and felt the heat rise up in her face once more. She was regretting every second from her mentioning you… why was she so shy all of a sudden? Her voice turned weak, her throat was choking up on its own. She swallowed, she felt like any minute she’d pass out from all the adrenaline rushing through her body.
“I was thinking about… u… um…” She glanced away from you and hesitated for a second before she finally said it, she was scared she’d end up not saying it. “I was thinking about… K… making out with…you…” You blushed at her confession
“You were thinking about kissing me?" You asked as if you didn't believe her,a part of you wanted to hear her words again. Hiba’s stomach flipped as she heard you ask her this. She was trembling, her cheeks flared up even more with the red of her blush.
“Y…Yes..” She didn’t believe herself as she spoke those words either, the adrenaline was making her body go crazy as her stomach churned with nerves and emotion. She glanced at you once more, the heat radiating off her as she tried to maintain herself with what little of control she had left..
"What did it feel like? Did you like it?" Your mouth moved before your brain could stop you. She looked at you, her heart pounding at a million miles per hour, her face so red it was nearly glowing. She swallowed as her throat went dry with every single breath she took. She stared at your lips, your soft full lips were her weak spot.
“It felt…” She gulped. ”..nice..”. She paused, she had to say it as she was feeling braver now, she took a breath in as her heart beat fast. “I liked the thought of it”
"Do you wanna see if you're right?" A sudden wave of disbelief washed over her once you got those words out. She glanced at you once more, her mind ran wild with thoughts once more. The adrenaline hit her once again as you spoke those words to her. Her breath hitched in her throat, she thought she would collapse on the floor.
“You… r…eall…y want to?…” You leaned even closer,so your face was inches away from her.
"Don't keep me waiting" When she saw you inch closer, she looked like she was about to pass out, a bright red blush covered her face, her throat and heartbeat were both racing. Her legs felt shaky and her knees were close to buckling. She gulped, she felt the urge to just kiss you right now but she was still a little nervous. You were still so close to her face, that she could feel your breath grazing against her skin. Her heart thumped so loudly in her chest it made her entire body vibrate. She couldn’t hold it back anymore. Without even knowing she was doing it, she leaned in to you and pressed her warm lips against yours. She paused for a moment, her lips locking with yours, she pulled back slightly as her breath hitched, her lips slightly grazing with yours. She was so caught up in it all that she barely realized she was making a move. Her lips were against yours. Her heart was pounding so loudly that you could practically hear it. You pulled away after a few minutes to catch your breath "was it like you imagined?" She was breathless, her heart was still pounding, her eyes were glazed over as if she were in a trance. She was at a loss for words, she was speechless, her lips were still buzzing, she was so out of it. She could barely believe that she had actually done that. She had wanted and imagined this for so long, so here she was. She gave you a little tiny nod as she looked down at the floor, too embarrassed to even meet your gaze. "Is that all?" You asked,a little disappointed that she didn't give you a proper answer. You straddled her lap, your hand moving to unclip your hair clip and let your hair fall. She did always say that she liked your hair when it was down but it rarely ever was. So this was guaranteed to drive her crazy. "I guess I just have to try harder" you cupped her face and kissed her again. She was still in disbelief that this was actually happening, it had been one of those things she had constantly fantasized about but never actually believed would happen, but here she was. A wave of disbelief washed over her as she felt your mouth against hers once more. She let out a small whimper as you straddled her, your hands cupping her face as she felt your tongue press lightly against hers. Your soft lips pressed against hers as her mind ran wild with thoughts and emotions, her body trembled under yours. She kissed back, her lips locking and pressing into yours. Your hands moved slowly down to her neck and kept moving your hands further down. Her breath hitched when your hands slid down to her neck, she couldn’t believe what you were doing. The rush of adrenaline was overwhelming at this point as the heat and sensation started to overtake her. Her muscles tensed as your hands slid down her neck and down to her chest. She swallowed, her breathing was becoming more shallow and irregular. Her hands began to curl up at her side and her body trembled more with the sensation. You pulled away and moved your hands back to her face. She looked up at you with bright eyes and flushed cheeks, as you pulled away from the kiss. Her face was radiating heat as her breath still heaved and her heart was about to burst out of her chest. When you had moved your hands back to her face, she looked at them, then at you, and then back again. Her lips still had that soft, warm, tingling sensation from when we had kissed. Her gaze was slowly tracing back up to you and her lips were slightly parted, she looked at you, waiting for the next move. "So how was that?" She was still breathless as she managed out a couple of words. Her heart was still pounding and her breath was still irregular as she looked at you. Everything was so surreal, she still couldn’t believe we were even doing this. She gulped, she looked down at your hands, which were still on her face, she felt that tingle again and she liked it. She looked back up at you, her eyes were glazed with lust.
“It was… better than I could ever imagine…” You leaned in to kiss her again but your phone rang. She groaned when you pulled away from her, she was enjoying the moment way too much, and now that phone ring cut the moment short, like a knife cutting through the anticipation. She felt a wave of annoyance wash over her but she didn’t dare to show it. She didn’t want you to feel guilty. She wanted you to answer the call. She was dying to kiss you again but she understood that this call could be something urgent, so she kept her lips sealed and remained quiet. It was Tasneem, you picked up.
"Hello" Hiba glanced over as you picked up the call, she didn’t dare to listen to your call, she was too busy trying to remain calm, even though she was feeling extremely restless and on edge, the thought crossed her mind to listen in but she held herself back. She still wanted to respect your privacy, although the feeling of annoyance still lingered, she was trying to ignore it. You heard Tasneem on the other end
"Hey,me Sarah and Farah have been standing outside ringing the doorbell for the last 5 minutes" Hiba tilted her head and raised an eyebrow as she heard Tasneem speak. The annoyance continued to linger as you spoke with Tasneem, it was almost as if she were the one interrupting the moment between you and her.
"Sorry, give me a minute" you hung up and turned to Hiba. "They're here,I'll go get them and try to calm down before you come down stairs" Hiba listened to your every word as you hung up and spoke, her cheeks were still burning red with heat from the rush of adrenaline and all of the other feelings she was experiencing.
“They’re here huh..” She muttered, you clipped your hair back.
"Yeah,we'll be downstairs when you're ready to join us" She sighed as you straightened yourself back up and clipped your hair back, this action seemed to make her feel so impatient and frustrated, the feeling of annoyance began to intensify. She wanted you to stay right where you were, her mind was going crazy with thoughts of what might happen if you did stay. However all she could do was remain silent as she nodded her head. You made your way down and opened the door "hey girls" Hiba’s head tilted to the side as she heard you call out the girls’ names. She heard each girl’s voice reply with a simple “hey”, followed by a giggle. Her mind raced with thoughts, mainly of curiosity. She wanted to know what the girls were doing here, and what was going to happen next. Tasneem immediately asked
"Where's Hiba?" Before you could answer Hiba had made her way downstairs. She was now standing at the bottom of the stairs, her feet shaking as she looked at each girl with a soft smile. She had made her way downstairs a few seconds later than you expected her to, her cheeks still had the pink tinge to them. She glanced at each girl, unsure of what to say. Tasneem’s sharp eyes saw her before anyone else as she called out her name, asking where she was "Why's your face red?" Tasneem asked,Hiba immediately felt more embarrassed and her face turned even more red, as a nervous chuckle escaped her mouth. She scratched the back of her neck, she didn’t know how to respond to that, so she tried to go with a vague answer.
“It…it’s nothing” She uttered out, her heart was still beating rapidly, so the words felt a bit jumbled. You could tell Tasneem wasn't convinced but she didn't ask anything else. Hiba sighed, Tasneem was smart and quick. Even if the other two hadn’t noticed, Tasneem would’ve noticed straight away, she was like a hawk that didn’t miss a thing. Hiba could see a smirk on Tasneem’s face as she eyed her up, Hiba knew that Tasneem had noticed. Hiba just rolled her eyes and brushed her hair back. She felt a bit uncomfortable due to the smirk on Tasneem’s face. You were soon all sat around a table with snacks and sodas, except Tasneem who had brought a smoothie with her. Always keeping up her appearance even with her friends. Part of you felt inferior compared to her. But you pushed that feeling down.
"So what should we play first?" Farah asked,Hiba sat at the table with each girl, including you. She watched as Tasneem had her smoothie, looking all fancy with her straight, sleek hair and designer clothes. A sense of envy started to kick in as she observed her. Tasneem looked more like a model than she already did,but then she caught you staring and she glanced back at you. Her smirk was replaced with a small grin and a small teasing smirk as she drank her smoothie. She knew what she was doing. The girls started discussing possible games until Farah came up with one. All of you would put your phones on the table and whoever got a notification would be forced to read it outloud. The girls chimed in,each putting their phone on the table.
"I'm in" you said as you placed your phone alongside theirs. The game idea seemed pretty simple, but she liked how it involved everyone. She placed her phone on the table alongside theirs and folded her hands as she waited, waiting to see who would get the first notification. It didn’t take long until Tasneem had already received a notification, her phone had gone off first and she had been forced to read it out. She picked it up, looking at the notification as she cleared her throat.
“Ugh, a reminder to join the gym” She snorted. “So basic..” She said with a condescending pout as she placed the phone back on the table. Hiba didn't believe her and just grabbed her phone to check. Tasneem’s face immediately turned sour and she began to whine as her phone was whipped from her hands. “Hey! That’s not fair!” She exclaimed, her voice was suddenly higher pitched and her facial expression was one of betrayal, she tried to reach for her phone but you pushed her hands away. Tasneem continued to whine as you picked up her phone and opened the message. As you looked at the message on her phone, it was a text message from her personal trainer. Tasneem got caught out in her lie, and she didn’t seem pleased about it. A pout instantly spread across her face as she watched you read her messages. Out of all the things to lie about, she chose that her expression was like that of a kid that had been caught in the cookie jar with their hand still in. You leaned over to read the message. As you leaned over to read the message, Tasneem’s pout grew even more, she looked so irritated that she had been caught out in a lie. The text message was from her personal trainer and it read
“You missed your session today, just a reminder for when I next see you.” You knew what this meant, Tasneem had skipped her training session for some reason. The pout grew even more as you continued to examine the text message. A part of you was worried
"hey,he's not forcing you to workout or anything else?" You tried to sound as gentle as possible. Tasneem’s pout dropped slightly as she heard your concerned voice. She shook her head in the denial as she glanced over at you with a slightly embarrassed look on her face.
“No.. No,he’s not forcing me. I just thought I would skip today” She muttered, a small blush appeared on her cheeks, before she quickly shook it off.
"Okay, but we're your friends and if anything happens you can tell us" She nodded her head in agreement, she didn’t want to seem as if she was lying again, even though you still had a slight feeling of mistrust, you decided to let it go for now. Tasneem seemed more reassured now that your response had been so calm. She gave a small smile as she took back her phone from you. She picked it up from the table and put it back in her pocket. Now you were waiting for the next phone to ring or the next notification to pop up. The game was quite exciting, you had already got pretty comfortable with each of the girls so it was always fun to see what kind of notifications they would get. You sat and waited for the next notification to pop up. The anticipation was building up inside you along with your curiosity, the suspense was killing you. It didn't take long until another vibration was heard, this time from Farah’s phone. Her eyes darted down to the notification as she picked up her phone. She looked down at the screen with a curious expression on her face. Her brow furrowed as she opened up the message.
"What is it?" The girls all looked at her as she opened it, everyone was curious to see what the notification was. She clicked and her brow furrowed even further when she read the message. She went silent for a moment, before giving a small chuckle. She clicked on the message again, scrolling it up and down. The other girls waited a while before they realized that Farah was not going to say anything about the message she had received. The other girls glanced at her questioningly, and Tasneem nudged her.
“Well?” Farah then glanced back at Tasneem as she looked up at the girls. She looked down at the screen once again before her face turned bright red. She put a hand up to cover her blush. She mumbled out a few words.
“It’s nothing..” Obviously, none of you believed her. The others continued to nudge her,
“It’s obviously something..” Tasneem started to giggle slightly, looking at her with a teasing smirk. “We won’t laugh so tell us.” Tasneem said, a playful smirk on her face as she gestured for her to speak out. Farah just sighed and rolled her eyes playfully before looking back down at her phone and speaking out.
“Fine.. it’s from a boy that I’ve been talking to for a while.” She muttered out. There was silence for a while,it was the first time Farah had ever mentioned a boy. The others looked at her, their eyebrows raised with surprise. They knew that Farah had never had a boyfriend up until this point. So this was quite the shock. Tasneem and Sarah shot a glance at you, both of their expressions contained small smirks. Tasneem was the first to speak.
“Is he cute?” Farah rolled her eyes once more when she heard the question. She let out a small chuckle as she kept her phone in her hands.
“Yes,he is very cute” She put her phone away and now you were waiting for the next one. The girls were eagerly waiting to see who would receive the next notification, they were full of anticipation, their emotions and feelings were starting to rise the longer the game went by. They were in for one hell of a shock when they heard another vibration. This notification had come from Sarah’s phone, which was sitting on the table. She glanced at the notification as she picked it up, her face became red as her cheeks filled with embarrassment as she realized who the notification was from.
"Alright we've been over this, what is it?” She was completely red in the face, and a nervous, sheepish smile was on her face. She didn’t wanna say anything but the other girls kept insisting until she finally spoke out.
“It’s a boy that I’ve been flirting with…” She muttered out.
"Gee is every single one of you dating some boy,and I'm the last to find out," Tasneem said. You and Hiba gave each a knowing look before giggling.Tasneem was the only one that had had a boyfriend before everyone else. Farah and Sarah had just started to talk to boys as well, which pretty much meant that you were the last to find someone. You and Hiba both looked at each other and laughed at Tasneem’s reaction. There were only two phones left, you and Hiba. All of the attention was now on you and Hiba, as you were the only 2 that had yet to receive notifications. Every girl sat staring at you, as if they could use their sheer amount of staring to make the notification come faster. Their eyes were like hawks, scanning your every move. Tasneem was the first to speak out.
“I bet your notification is gonna be from a boy as well” She murmured, her smirk grew wider as a small giggle escaped her throat. Sarah and Farah joined in with Tasneem, all of them were staring directly at you with smug faces, they were all betting that you would be receiving a notification from a boy also. It was all coming down to the last 2 phones.

____________________________________________________________
I walked through the always empty streets admiring how the leaves danced with the afternoon wind. I had woken up on my bed a few hours back which led me to think all the events that had happened the day before were just a bad dream. But the stinging pain and scabbing over red lines under my bangs said otherwise. Judging from the sound of the radio playing old music and no sounds coming from the television I could tell right away it was only my mother and I at home. She had suggested I take advantage of my weekend and go get some fresh air and socialize, and said something about how we’ll talk about what happened later. Which brings me here.
Looking up at the sky I realized the sun was about to set which was my sign to go back home. I was just a few blocks away when I recognized someone crossing the not so busy streets, she had headphones on with her hair fluffed up and a pair of ripped jeans with a brown shirt.
I quickly averted my gaze when I realized it was Hiba, hoping she wouldn't notice me. But in doing so I accidentally made eye contact with a group of teenage boys who were for some strange reason already looking at me.
I swore under my breath keeping my gaze on the floor and rushed past the boys, which resulted in me bumping straight into someone’s back. “Watch where yo-” the voice paused, “oh, it’s you” Hiba snorted mockingly, turning to me. Her smirk was quickly wiped off of her face when she saw the scared expression on my face, before she could say anything a whistle sounded from behind me.
We both turned to look at where the sound was coming from, and spot the four creepy looking boys approaching us. I instinctively grabbed her hand in fear, which she squeezed in return but not taking her glaring eyes from their smirking faces. “Hey there you two, need a good fuck?” the one in a hoodie, which seemed to be the ‘leader’, taunted “We could share you know”. This caused the others to burst into laughter. A rotten smell coming from them.
Weed
“Lets just go, please” I pull her back whispering into her ear. She turns deeming the boys not worth it and I followed along not looking back but letting go of her hand. “Oh come on,” one of the other boys whined while reaching out to grab me “It’s very obvious you don’t have an issue slutting around” I feel his disgusting eyes lingering on my neck.
A click is heard from behind me and I freeze, I could see a glint of fear flashing on their face. I looked at her and instantly recognized the small yet vital weapon she held in her hands. The same weapon that killed her. “Aw think we’ll be scared of your toy gun?” another round of laughter rings through the empty streets.
She points her gun upwards and pulls the trigger making me almost jump out of my skin. Hiba gives me a look of…concern, but doesn’t hesitate to point it back towards the boys who make a cowardly run for it. I watch them carefully from a distance until I feel a hand turn my face to the side from my chin, a pair of worried eyes made contact with mine. Her hands tug mine down away from my ears and wipes my tears. “Let’s get you home, hm?”.
I glance at her pocket where the, now obvious, pistol pokes out. She notices me looking and I guess she felt my fear. “It’s a toy” she takes it out and shows that the bullets are red paint-balls. “Makes them cower like puppies” she grins then helps me up.

Caught on Camera - Shams x fem reader (Chapter 1)
summary: In a world full of wannabe influencers, (f/n) prefers to be a private person. But as Shams doesn't seem to care much about ones privacy, the two of them have quite a lot to discuss.
warnings: same theme as the series
word count: 975

requested? Yes
----------------------------
In a time where social media were basically ruling the world, people thought of me as weird for avoiding them most of the time. It was not like I was completely against them. I just did not feel the need to post my life. Actually I thought that people who were posting their life were not content enough with it to just enjoy it. Instead they had to waste it on making everyone believe they were being as perfect as possible.
Nevertheless I came along with my classmates, even the most popular ones like Tasneem and Hiba. I was simply a private person. Therefore I was alone a lot of the time as well, sometimes hanging out with Nadeen.
I liked her attitude, standing up for herself and others, staying true to herself.
Although that was also what got me caught up in this mess of sitting outside in the burning sun to make a stand. The irony of it all was that Nadeen, Shams and I were the only ones outside at the end, though we did not care that much about our phones.
To be honest I did not really know what to think about Shams. On the one hand she seemed to be nice, offering us food and talking to us, and I was curious because I barely knew anything about her. On the other hand I did not like the fact that she was carrying around a camera all the time. It kinda made me feel watched. Like I had to be on guard to make sure she was not filming me.
“What are you up to today? Wanna hang out?”, Nadeen asked me when the school bell rang for the last time.
“Sure”, I agreed. “But please no more horror movies.”
“Why not? Your reactions are too good to miss out on”, she proclaimed with a chuckle.
“It's not my fault that I take movies too seriously. Of course the scary ones freak me out”, I justified myself.
“Though they're not even scary”, Nadeen shot back.
“How about you tell my dreams exactly that?”, I suggested, now laughing myself.
In the end she persuaded me to watch another one. I just could not say no to her when she offered to let me sleep over because that was always my condition for watching horror movies with her. It was hard to fall asleep if I was alone afterwards.
“What are you watching?”, I wondered when Nadeen was laughing about something on her phone.
“It's one of Sarah's videos. But this one is actually funny”, she enlightened me and rewound it to let me see the beginning as well.
It was about different types of girls at our school. She depicted me as the artsy fangirl which I could not deny. After all I was always scribbling away at some quick sketches or short stories about my favorite book and movie characters.
But when the video showed The Critic, which was obviously supposed to be Nadeen. Honestly I could not understand how Sarah could post something like that about Nadeen, considering they were friends.
The hurt was written all over Nadeen's face before she quickly hid it behind a nonchalant mask.
“It's blowing up”, I noticed.
Her views, likes and comments were basically exploding the more time passed. It was insane.
And on the next day Sarah moved on from invisible to absolute spotlight.
I tried to stay close to Nadeen as Sarah did not seem to take any interest in talking to her friend, now that she had other options. That was one of many reasons to hate social media. But never mind.
My eyes moved away from Sarah as I observed my environment. It was nothing unusual for me to do. From time to time it could be useful. That way I could stay out of the trouble and drama.
But this time I did not like what I saw.
Quickly I made my way over to Shams. “Were you just filming us?”, I accused her.
The others were too busy crowding Sarah to notice our discussion.
“Why does it matter?”, Shams remarked.
“I didn't allow you to film me”, I pointed out.
“So what? Everybody is running around filming nowadays. Why is it different when I do it with a real camera instead of a phone?”, she considered.
“I don't care about the kind of camera. Just delete it”, I requested.
“I'll cut you out of it if you stop bugging me. And don't chat it around. People behave differently when they're aware of being filmed.”
“Why should I do that? I don't owe you anything”, I declared.
“Look. Maybe you don't like what I'm doing, but I'm just expressing myself through art like you do”, she claimed.
“What are you talking about?”, I inquired.
“Your sketches and stories. I haven't read any of them, but it's obvious that you're passionate about them. So you should be able to see my point”, she resonated.
“You truly are a stalker”, I noted, taking a step closer to her.
Somehow this discussion had quickly become heated and despite my anger I had to admit that I was feeling a pull toward her.
“I'm a film maker. That's the point. By the way, you're the only one that cares. Everybody else is way too busy with their petty online lives and little drama. So can you just let it go? I promise to cut you out. It's for the sake of art”, she stated.
For a moment we were staring each other down, contemplating what to do next. And for some reason it became harder and harder to stay close. So I gave in.
“Fine”, I grumbled and stormed off.

Expectations - Shams x fem reader (Chapter 1)

------------------------
“Hey (f/n)!”, Tasneem greeted me as I was sitting on my seat and getting out my stuff. “I can't believe we're in the same class.”
I smiled at her and took a sip of water.
“So what do you think? Wanna make another tiktok together? The last one kinda blew up. Our followers seem to love it”, she noted.
“Sure”, I agreed. “But I'm meeting up with Omar later. So we gotta do it in the break.”
“Of course! Girl, I'm so jealous! Omar's literal boyfriend goals”, she declared.
“Make your move then”, I encouraged her.
“You're still just friends? Come on! Why?”, she wondered.
“Why not?”, I shot back. “Just because he's a decently hot guy and we've literally known each other for ages doesn't mean we have to become a couple.”
“It basically does though”, she claimed.
I had to suppress a groan at her statement. Why did everybody have to insist on that?
“Oh. Hitchcock's in our class”, Hiba announced as Shams entered the classroom.
Anger bubbled up inside of me. All I wanted to do was to stand up for Shams, but we had settled on avoiding each other at school as it might harm my image to be seen with her.
Luckily the topic shifted quickly when Sarah started talking to Tasneem.
So I decided to get a head start and began studying. After all I needed to keep up my good grades this term.
When the first day after the holidays was finally over, I could not wait to get to my favorite siblings.
I walked for a few minutes until I reached the meeting point where Shams picked me up with her bicycle.
“Ready to get home?”, she inquired with a grin.
“You have no idea”, I shot back and hurried onto the saddle.
I could easily not hold on without falling off, but I definitely would not waste this opportunity to hold onto Shams tightly, daring to lean against her.
“You're really pushing your luck, (f/n)”, she complained teasingly.
She was always claiming that she could not focus on keeping us driving when I was this close.
When we entered her home, the first thing we did was getting us a glass of ice water. It had somehow become a ritual whenever I came over because we used to stay out in the sun for far too long when we were kids, obviously dehydrating in the process.
Suddenly Omar walked into the kitchen as well.
“Why aren't you wearing a shirt?”, Shams questioned, frowning at her brother's naked upper body.
“I just came out of the shower”, he enlightened us.
An idea popped up in my mind and I could not help but act on it.
Before Omar realized what was happening I had fished and ice cube out of my glass and slipped it into his pants.
“Ah, you little ...”, he screamed out and jumped around due to the coldness. It was a hilarious sight and Shams breaking out in laughter was absolutely worth it.
“You're so gonna regret this”, he threatened me as soon as he got back to his senses.
I did not hesitate to run away as he was chasing me.
“Help”, I called out.
Of course, Shams supported me and made her brother trip over her foot, leading him to stumble to the ground.
“That's so not fair”, he grumbled and stayed down.
I exchanged a glance with Shams, who shook her head no.
After a while I warily approached Omar, feeling slightly guilty for pranking him and then teaming up against him. But that immediately changed when he took a hold of my ankle, then my wrist. He had caught me.
“(f/n), you're too naive sometimes”, Shams noted.
Before any of us could stop him, he grabbed my glass and emptied it over my head. Several ice cubes plus water as revenge for one.
“Omar!”, I cursed. “Have you gone crazy? Shit!”
Now he was the one laughing and out of the corner of my eyes I recognized that Shams was barely holding in her laughter as well.
“Oh no! You don't get to laugh at me”, I exclaimed and enveloped her in a hug.
“Ugh, guys! I didn't even do anything”, she reminded us as her clothes were soaked now.
“You just watched”, I remarked.
“Which you didn't complain about when you were the culprit”, she pointed out.
“Of course”, I agreed.
After a few seconds we all started laughing again. None of us could hold a grudge against each other for long.
“Let's get some dry clothes”, Shams suggested and pulled me to her room.
“Hey! I thought you were gonna hang out with me”, Omar interjected.
“You don't seriously expect me to stay like this”, I shot back.
“You can take my clothes”, he offered desperately.
“What's your problem?”, Shams wondered, still not letting go of my hand.
“Well … I may be her best friend, but you're her girlfriend. I know you both too well. As soon as she enters your room I'll be forgotten for at least the next hour”, he assumed.
“We're not THAT bad”, I claimed.
“How many stories do I need to tell you?”, he questioned.
“Okay, okay. We got it”, Shams stopped him. “She'll be right back.”
When we arrived in her room, Shams got some clothes for me and herself and then disappeared in the bathroom.
“Why are you doing that to me?”, I whined.
Hope was filling me when she opened the door, but she closed it again after throwing a towel in my face.
Defeated I began drying myself off and putting her clothes on. The fact that they were a bit too big for me was making it even more comfortable.
“I promised Omar we wouldn't take long”, Shams finally answered while getting out of the bathroom.
“I will let him wait a bit longer though”, she declared and pulled me into a passionate kiss that almost turned into a serious make-out session.
“Now go or I'll keep you”, she warned me.
I was just as reluctant to go as she was to let me. But I knew she was right. I was hanging out with Omar today, not with Shams. It would not be fair to let him down.
-------------------------
Next Chapter
Well ... I planned to write a Oneshot, but I couldn't help it and now I'm turning it into a series. Yeah, I know! Another Shams series ... I can't help myself. She's my favorite after all!
I hope you like the first chapter. Feel free to send me suggestions if you have any.
Btw I absolutely love that picture of Shams!

Hiba's Puppy - Hiba x fem reader (Part 2)
Part 1
warnings: none
word count: 912
-----------------
“Wait”, Hiba proposed with a slight chuckle. “That kinda sounds like a love confession.”
“You know what? Forget it”, I mumbled and turned to leave.
I had at least expected her to take me seriously. But apparently I did not know her as well as I had thought.
“It is?”, Hiba reassured. “(f/n), look, I ...”
“What is taking you guys so long? Are you okay?”, Tasneem interrupted her.
“Yeah”, I claimed and used Tasneem's appearance to flee.
Hiba had just been searching for a gentle way to let me down, which was absurd in itself. After all she was not one to take care of other people's feelings. So I must have seemed extremely vulnerable.
The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful as Tasneem had canceled the game after the call with Omar.
After playing some more games with less drama, we decided to go to bed. Now I was regretting settling my stuff right next to Hiba's because I had to lay down next to her after the awkward ending of our conversation.
I purposefully turned my back toward her to avoid looking at her.
But after a felt eternity I still was not able to fall asleep, the day spooking in my mind.
I almost cried out when a hand wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer. It could not be anyone else but Hiba.
I figured that she was asleep, but that quickly turned out wrong when she started whispering in my ear: “Hey, I know you're still awake. You've been ignoring me.”
I stayed silent.
“Why did you run away when Tasneem showed up?”, she inquired.
“We shouldn't talk about it here. What if anyone hears? It's already been bad enough for me”, I considered.
“They're fast asleep. Trust me”, Hiba proclaimed.
“What do you even want?”, I questioned.
“Finish our chat from earlier?”, she supposed. “I didn't get to say what I wanted.”
I could feel her breath on my ear and it was driving me crazy. Why did she have to be such a tease?
“Don't worry about it”, I assured her. “You don't have to let me down slowly.”
“I never intended to, anyway”, she noted. “I've been having my eyes on you for a while now, but I always thought you were with one of the boys.”
I could barely breathe at her words, struggling to process everything she was saying.
“So what do you say?”, she wondered.
I loosened her grip on my waist to turn around and face her. The sight of her was reminding me once again how stunning she was.
“You like me, too?”, I uttered, not sure if I could trust my mind right now.
Her eyes moved from my eyes to my lips. “Yeah”, she confirmed.
A bright smile captured myself, making her chuckle quietly, before she closed the gap between us to kiss me.
At first it was shy and hesitant, but it quickly turned more passionate and desperate as we had waited for so long.
When we parted again, Hiba was grinning at me, pulling me back into her arms.
The next morning I woke up in Hiba's arms. So it had not been a dream after all. I smiled at the memory of last night.
The others had already gotten up, leaving us behind to sleep in.
When I turned around to try regain the feeling in my arm I had apparently laid on for way too long, Hiba stirred awake as well.
“Who turned on the sun?”, she grumbled.
I could not help but laugh. “The others are probably eating all our breakfast”, I assumed.
“Don't care”, Hiba mumbled, burying her head in the crook of my neck.
Hiba was probably the worst morning person I knew. So I granted her a few more minutes before getting up.
“So you two have finally gotten out of bed as well”, Enas pointed out as soon as we entered the kitchen.
They were already finished with breakfast, just like I had figured.
“You two were so cute by the way”, Tasneem remarked grinning.
She pulled out her phone to show us a picture of us sleeping in each others arms.
“Give that to me”, Hiba demanded, snatching the phone out of Tasneem's hand before she could react.
“Hey, don't delete it”, she complained.
But Hiba had not deleted it. She had sent it to herself, which I only knew because I was able to get a peak.
Later that day the boys picked me up to hang out.
“You guys would be so dead if the night had turned out any different”, I enlightened them.
“What exactly are you talking about?”, Noor questioned.
“What do you think I'm talking about? Your stupid call! Do you have any idea how awkward that was?”, I ranted.
“Hey, don't make her angry!”, Yasser scolded him.
“Nah, you're all off the hook because Hiba's my girlfriend now”, I announced.
“She is? Congrats”, Safaa exclaimed and patted me on the shoulder. “Though I gotta say that I'm a bit jealous.”
“Watch what you're saying”, I warned him, but my serious attire was quickly replaced by laughing at his horrified expression.
No matter how much shit these guys were getting me into, I just could not be mad at them for long.

Tasneem's PoV
“What pictures should I share next?”, I wondered, handing my phone over to Hiba.
We were hanging out at my home right now, which was not rare for us. After all she was my best friend.
“That one's hot”, she suggested. “Oh, and take this one, too.”
My mom was not home. So we were sitting on the couch in the living room.
“Isn't this one a bit too sexy?”, I considered.
“Nah. It's alright. Look at this”, she declared, showing me a pic of herself.
In comparison to that mine was still innocent. Yet I would not judge her for it. It was completely in a gray zone.
“What else do you have?”, I inquired, taking her phone from her.
Meanwhile she was skipping through my gallery.
Hiba was absolutely great at taking pictures.
I stopped in my tracks when I found a picture of (f/n). I could not help but stare at it for a while.
She was sitting in class, apparently listening to Miss Abeer. Her focused gaze was kinda cute. Therefore I had my difficulties to skip to the next picture.
The more I scrolled through Hiba's gallery though, the more pictures of (f/n) I found. The weird thing about that was that (f/n) was never looking into the camera.
Something was off.
“Hiba? Why do you have so many pictures of (f/n) on her phone?”, I asked her bluntly.
“Huh? What are you talking about?”.
I presented her collection to her.
“Guess I always forgot to delete them”, she brushed it off, wearing a poker face.
“Why did you take them in the first place?”, I continued.
“Why does it matter? It's nothing unusual to have pictures of your friends on your phone”, she shot back, obviously getting irritated.
“What about your other friends then? Wait! Do you like her?”, I assumed.
“Maybe I do. So what?”, she proposed.
A pit formed inside my stomach. This could not be true.
“You can't like her”, I exclaimed.
“Why not? Because she's a girl? Come on, Tasneem! I didn't think you were homophobic”, she stated.
“No! You can't have her. I've had a crush on her for months now”, I proclaimed.
“And yet you're still dating Omar”, she reminded me. “But that doesn't matter anyway. (f/n) wouldn't want somebody superficial like you.”
“You're calling me superficial? Have you taken a look in the mirror recently?”
“At least I don't stuff my mouth with junk and hang over the toilet whenever something bothers me. It's only a matter of time until she finds out and then she's gonna be so grossed out by you that she will never even want to look at you again”, she claimed.
That was an excruciatingly low blow. I had not even known that Hiba was aware of my eating disorder. But throwing it at me like that made me question our whole friendship.
“You know what? You may be pretty, but that's all you got. You're a bitch who cares about nobody but herself. The only thing you can do is make everyone else feel miserable, so you don't feel as shitty about your life. That's why nobody wants to hang out with you. The only friends you have are around because of me”, I ranted.
“Wow”, Hiba mumbled and left abruptly.
Her teary eyes were burned into my mind, knowing that I had caused all of this. But right now I could not care less.
Ironically I did exactly what Hiba had accused me of. Retreat to my eating disorder.
Actually Hiba was my only friend that mattered to me, but from time to time I just could not stand her mean attitude. Yet I had not meant to lose her completely.
What was I supposed to do now?
Hiba was stubborn and hurt, which was not a good combo.
Every time I tried to approach her throughout the next days, she would straight up ignore me. Until she did not.
“Why are you even trying to talk to me? You made yourself pretty clear that you couldn't stand me. So just leave me alone”, Hiba grumbled as I had met her outside in the break.
“Hiba, I'm sorry. You're my best friend. I don't want us to be fighting”, I apologized.
“You're sorry because you can't stand the fight. Not because you're actually sorry”, she accused me.
“So what? If I remember it correctly, you were the one starting this in the first place”, I reminded her.
“Oh! Now I'm the villain. I mean … of course I am. Because little Miss Perfect could never do anything wrong”, she remarked.
You know what? Maybe you're right and this whole thing between us just doesn't work out. You wanna be a bitch? Then be my guest! I won't bother you again”, I declared and walked off without looking back.
The urge to binge was unbearable. Therefore I was relieved to have two pastries in my school bag, who were gone in the matter of a minute.
For that one minute everything else seemed to fade away. But it was over quickly and instead of my initiate pain, the guilt and fear of ruining my hard work kicked in.
My feet were moving on their own, carrying me to the bathroom, where I made sure that nobody was inside.
Then I let it all come out, deleted the sugar and fat and countless calories from my system.
A tear slid down my cheek. Was life really supposed to this excruciating?
I wiped the tear away and got out of the stall, cleaning myself up at the sink. Apparently I was having tunnel vision because I had not noticed someone standing across from me.
“Tasneem ...” It was (f/n). Shit!
I felt myself flinch out of surprise, making a mess with the water covering my hands.
The look on her face told me that she had heard me.
“Hey. Sorry you had to hear that. I think I've eaten something wrong”, I lied.
“So you're gonna go home now?”, she questioned.
“Nah. I'm already feeling better”, I brushed it off.
“You're not”, she claimed.
“No offense, but how do you want to know that?”, I shot back.
“It's written all over you”, she insisted. “Is that what you're doing when you claim to use the restroom?”
“What are you even talking about? I was just feeling sick”, I exclaimed.
She flinched slightly when I yelled at her, making the guilt return. It was not fair to let all my bottled up emotions out on her.
“You are sick, Tasneem. But not the way you're claiming to be. It's okay. I'm not judging you or anything. I just want to help you”, she noted softly.
I avoided to look at her, completely out of words. She knew. It was too late to convince her otherwise.
Suddenly she wrapped her arms around me, enveloping me in a comforting hug.
“You're so tall”, she stated after a while, grinning up at me.
“You're just short”, I teased her, making both of us chuckle.
For a short moment I forgot about everything weighing me down. I wished life could always be this easy.

Caught on Camera - Shams x fem reader (Chapter 9)
Chapter 1
Previous Chapter
warnings: none
word count: 1.032
----------------
I did not hear a word from Shams throughout the rest of the weekend. No texts, no calls, no meetings. It was freaking me out as I was constantly wondering if my mind had made it all up.
When had all of this even begun? Didn't I use to hate her? How could I fall in love with her all of a sudden?
I was anxious to go to school today, not sure what was going to happen.
But when I passed by Shams in the corridor, she only sent me a short smile and then continued her way, not really paying attention to me.
I was utterly confused and frustrated.
Nadeen noticed my dire state and attempted asking me about it, but I was too scared to let my hope fade to tell anyone.
Actually I even tried to talk to Shams once while giving her the clothes back, but she was avoiding my eyes and giving curt answers.
Later I was glad we had P.E. because I could at least let it all out by moving my body, although I was not the best football player.
I was running after every ball, compensating my lack of talent with effort. The others did not bother all that much to keep up with me as I was running as fast as I could without losing the ball. Shams did though.
She was on the opposite team, playing defense right now and she was not letting me through. Instead she was keen on getting the ball back.
At one point our fight became so heated that we both fell. I was not sure who had fallen first and how we had managed to pull the other down with us.
What I did know was that the eye-contact and the tension were back. That my environment simply faded for a few seconds as my focus was solely on the girl underneath me.
Now she was not avoiding my eyes anymore at all. Rather the opposite.
“Hey girls”, Coach Feras called out. “Are you okay?”
That made us both snap out of it and I got off of her, giving her a chance to stand up.
“Yeah”, I assured him and jumped back to my feet.
I shortly glanced at Shams before the game continued.
Afterwards Shams vanished once again. I did not see her in the changing room nor during break. But Nadeen was not letting me off the hook.
“So that's what's distracting you so much today”, Nadeen concluded, grinning at me. “What happened between you on the weekend?”
I contemplated whether to tell her or not. But what bad could it do? So I told her the whole story, except my nightmare, and ended with the almost kiss. If you could call it that.
“Seems like you have a hand for that. For a moment I wondered if you two were gonna kiss right in front of us”, she noted.
“Was it really that obvious?”, I questioned.
She nodded, a sly smile planted on her face. “It felt like we weren't even there.”
“I'm not imagining that Shams and I are on the same page, right?”, I reassured.
“Well … I'm just saying she couldn't keep her eyes off of you and didn't make any move to get away from you. And she's spending time with you after all the shit you pulled on her”, she considered.
“Wait! The two of you are kinda friends as well. Did you ever talk about me?”, I wondered.
“Maybe”, she alluded.
“What did she say?”, I inquired.
“Sorry, can't tell you. I'm not telling her that you're madly in love with her either, am I?”
“That's just cruel”, I complained.
“Just talk to her”, she encouraged me.
“I tried, but she's avoiding me since last weekend”, I declared.
“Well, I know just the right place to find her”, Nadeen proclaimed.
Then she started walking off, telling me to follow her.
I did not expect to end up at the old school bus. But after about a minute of Nadeen going inside, Shams was right behind her.
“Now talk with each other instead of me. See ya”, Nadeen announced and walked off with a lazy wave.
“What was that?”, Shams remarked.
Anxiety was creeping up inside of me, the fear of rejection feeling overwhelming.
“I'm sick of this”, I thought aloud.
“Sick of what?”, Shams shot back.
“I don't think I ever really hated you. Honestly I don't quite get it myself, but I do know that I was pissed that my mom interrupted us at your house. And that we were surrounded by people during P.E.”, I stated.
“So what are you saying?”, she questioned.
I took a step toward her and she did not back away. I leaned in to her, stopping right before our lips touched.
“I'm saying that I want to know if you want this, too”, I whispered.
As an answer she closed the last little gap between us.
I completely forgot we were at school, the pain of my scraped knee from our fall before completely erased.
My track of time was cracked. I had no idea how long our kiss lasted, only how it ended.
“Finally”, Nadeen exclaimed, making us jump away from each other out of surprise.
Apparently Nadeen had been secretly watching us.
“What kind of friend does that?”, I yelled at her while she was approaching us.
“A great one”, she proposed. “I mean … look at my creation.”
She turned Shams' camera around to us, revealing a picture of our first kiss.
Without us noticing Nadeen had caught us on camera.
“When did you even take that with you?”, Shams wondered.
“When you were too distracted worrying about your upcoming conversation with (f/n)”, Nadeen confessed.
“I'll definitely keep that though”, Shams considered.
I stepped behind her to take a look at the picture as well. It was really cute and the perfect proof that I had not just imagined our kiss. It was sure to be treasured.
The End
---------------
Honestly it feels so weird to end this story. This story just feels like the starting point of my journey with all of you here. I hope you'll all stay with me. I love talking to all of you and looking forward to creating more together with you!

What Could Have Been - Hiba x fem reader (Chapter 1)

-----------------
After years of moving around I was relieved to finally be back at home, although it was strange at the same time. So much had changed and yet remained the same somehow. I could not quite grasp it.
While my parents were busy working already as some people they had hired were unpacking, I took a stroll around the neighborhood.
We were living in another part of the city now. Another thing to get used to.
But I was not too worried about that. I was rather anxious about changing schools in the middle of term once again. It was my last year after all. My parents could have at least let me finish that at my old school. But my situation did not matter to them when it came to their job.
Back at home I retreated to my room. Somebody had set all my stuff here as well, not giving me the chance to decide over my own room.
I sighed and started decorating it the way I wanted at least.
My eyes drifted over to my wardrobe. I was cringing when I spotted the uniform. I had gotten used to not wearing one abroad and was definitely not looking forward to this kind of constriction again.
Nevertheless I was dressed in it the next morning, my parents too busy to notice my anxiety. They did not even great me as dad was typing some text away and mom was making a call.
I skipped breakfast and walked outside to get into the car. Of course my parents had hired someone to drive me as well. But for now I was glad that I did not have to take the bus.
Getting introduced to my new class my eyes automatically scanned the faces of my new classmates. I used to be horrible at remembering faces and names, but after moving for the third time I had started to excel at it. Kinda social survival mode.
I halted when my gaze focused on a tall girl with wild black girls and dark eyes. She looked awfully familiar and yet I did not know why.
When Miss Abeer said my name the girl looked at me in a weird way as well. What about that?
It was frustrating. The answer was basically right in front of me and yet I could not get it. So I sat down instead and tried to focus on class.
But the nagging questions did not leave my mind. Therefore I made the decision to talk to the girl as soon as the lesson was over.
Before I could reach her though, the girl in front of her began talking to her.
I froze when she said her name: Hiba. And suddenly it was like a lock had been opened and all the memories were coming back up, from a time long gone.
Hiba had been my best friend. Losing her had ripped me apart years ago.
I stumbled toward her, feeling like I was in a trance. “Hiba”, I mumbled.
Her head turned around to me, a frown on her face. “What do you want, newbie?”
My heart sank at her snarky remark. But I decided to continue anyway.
“Don't you remember me?”, I wondered.
“Why should I?”, she shot back.
Her friend, I supposed, was crossing her arms in front of her chest and looking at me suspiciously, like I might jump at her any second.
“I know it's been a long time, like five years ago. We were childhood friends, remember?”
“So what?”, she questioned.
“I just ...”
She interrupted me: “You thought we could just go back to being friends again now that you've returned? You gotta be kidding yourself! I don't hang out with losers anymore. Now shush and leave.”
Tears sprung to my eyes before I could stop them.
Was this really Hiba? She used to be so kind to me. One more thing that had changed while I had been gone.
“Are you deaf?”, Hiba taunted me. “Go. Away.”
I could not help but follow her words. It hurt too much to stay here.
After two minutes I was somewhere outside, no clue where I actually was because I did not know my way around school yet.
How could Hiba change so much? Of course, years had passed but this was just extreme.
Suddenly I was consumed by anger.
It was not my fault that my parents had ripped me away from my home, that I had left her behind, that I had no choice but to return to her new self. That I had missed such a major part of her life that I had not been able to self her kindness.
I felt like a puppet being controlled by my parents. If they just had not forced this decision upon me … If I could have stayed …
I was sitting on the concrete, leaning against the wall of the school building. My mind was playing tricks on me, trying to fill the void. To fill the five years that had passed with images of Hiba and me still being together. Images of what could have been.
------------------
Now Hiba is getting her own story as well. How do you like it so far?

Weirdo To Celebrity - Shams x fem reader
summary: In an alternative universe Shams has managed to fulfill her dream and become an established film maker. But over her fame she never forgets to appreciate (f/n), her beloved wife.

----------------------
Lights and countless voices were surrounding me as I was waiting for my wife to arrive. It was the debut of her new movie and everyone wanted to talk to her, in stark contrast to our time back at school.
“Hey, sorry for the wait”, Shams apologized while sitting down next to me.
“No problem”, I assured her and gave her a quick peck on the lips, before moving to hold her hand. “I can't wait to see the film.”
“You'll love it”, she promised. “It turned out even better than expected.”
Over the cause of the last seven years, Shams had managed to establish a name for herself. For her dream we had moved to the US and so far life could not go any better.
Despite the homophobia that was already present here, it was safer to express ourselves here than back at home. We had even been able to marry.
After finishing watching the movie I had to admit that Shams had been right. It seemed like she only got better with every new project.
When we went outside the press was everywhere, waiting for their chance to talk to her.
“Well, you know. Shams has always been incredibly passionate about being a film maker. I think that's what brought her here, this far”, I stated in an interview.
“How does it feel to be married to such a bright star?”
I looked over at Shams who was smiling happily at me, while answering the questions of another interviewer.
“To be honest it can be a hassle sometimes. Getting recognized when going out. Dealing with stalkers and crazy fans. Barely seeing her from time to time. But this is her dream, always has been. It makes her happy and that's absolutely worth it. There are advantages as well of course. The money, the connections, knowing about her plans before everyone else. But the only thing that matters to me is being with her and her being content with her life.”
“I can only agree”, Shams interjected. “I'm lucky to have such an amazing wife like (f/n). She's always supporting me no matter what, encouraging me to continue my way, even if it's hard. I mean … she even moved to another continent with me. I can never thank her enough for everything she's done for me.”
My eyes began to water at her words.
Shams was making sure I was feeling loved as much as she could, fulfilling my wishes before I even knew I had them. But hearing such a love declaration in front of potentially millions of people was a completely different league.
I could not help but kiss, did not want to stop myself either. Shams smiled into the kiss and for a short moment we forgot about the cameras.
After that we were all over social media, people rooting for us, some being jealous.
I was mainly on social media to push my wife's fame, but lately I was also getting a lot of fan messages.
“Would surprise me if not”, was Shams' only comment to that.
Shams' fans even started requesting her to include me in her live streams. Now there were clips where Shams had secretly filmed me cooking for her or of us getting ready to go out.
I had never imagined my life to turn out like this, but I did not mind.
My coworkers had also started bugging me with my newfound fame.
Honestly some aspects of it were awesome, like our dinner parties with some of Shams' actors.
But from time to time I wondered why Shams had chosen me out of all people and if she would still choose me now that she had so many options. After all I was not that special.
I was a simple woman, working a part-time job because we did not need the money anyway. I had just wanted to do my part for society as well and just sit at home all day.
Today was our wedding anniversary of three years.
I made Shams her favorite cake and prepped everything for our usual trip to the beach that had become our little tradition.
“Hey, love. Happy anniversary”, I greeted her when she came out of the bedroom.
Before giving her the chance to reply anything, I pulled her into a passionate kiss.
“Time really flies by, doesn't it?”, she considered. “I'm sorry, but I need to take care of something first, before we can go.”
“Can't you do that another day?”, I wondered, disappointment filling my chest.
“Nah. It'll be too late then. But I promise I'll be back in an hour.”
She grabbed her back and left after sending me a short smile.
I was used to her having to leave suddenly, but in the past she had always made time for our anniversary. Was her work starting to become more important than me?
I shook those thoughts away, deciding to listen to music to cheer me up, while cleaning the house a bit.
Actually I hated cleaning and Shams never had time for it. So she had hired someone to do it for us. But right now it was a welcome distraction.
Fifty minutes later Shams finally returned and I tried my best to get a hold of my disappointment and intrusive thoughts. It was not her fault that her job was demanding.
After about a twenty minute ride we arrived near the beach. I was glad that we had decided against living in the city and instead settled in a village closer to nature.
Shams and I carried the food and beverages together to our spot. But when it came into sight I almost dropped everything.
The sand was littered by dozens of lighted candles. There had already been a blanket placed on the sand that was decorated with countless different flower petals. To top it all off there were several hearts drawn into the sand.
I was too stunned to react.
“Sorry for leaving earlier, but I just can't manage to wake up early and I wanted to do it all myself”, Shams enlightened me. “Do you like it?”
“I love it!”, I exclaimed, placing the cake on the ground and jumping into her arms, not caring about the bottles falling to the ground.
“You deserve nothing less”, she whispered.
“I love you.”
----------------------
I hope I managed to catch what you were imagining, anon. What do you all think about it?

I'm right here - Hiba x fem reader x Tasneem

Today was one of those days I could almost burst from excitement.
My girlfriends Hiba and Tasneem had invited me to go to Pins with them to have some fun together.
Of course Ali and Omar were going to come as well, but that did not worsen my mood in the slightest.
I had taken my time choosing the perfect outfit. Enough to look hot, but subtle enough to not look cheap. I had wanted to dress up for them.
I could not help checking my phone every minute as I was waiting for them outside. Tasneem had assured me that they were picking up and I did not need to worry about anything but showing up.
“Hey, hottie”, Hiba called out through an open car window.
She was wearing her signature smirk as she was eyeing me up and down.
“Are you gonna come in or just keep decorating your neighborhood?”, she teased me.
That made me snap out of my trance and jump into the car.
Hiba took a hold of my waist pulling me onto her lap when I intended to climb over her to get to the middle seat.
“Hey! Don't keep her to yourself”, Tasneem protested and pulled me away from Hiba by my arm.
A giggle left my lips at their behavior. They could be so sweet.
During the ride their whole attention was on me as they were complimenting my outfit and taking this chance to make out. The driver would never rat us out.
But the touches, compliments and kisses all stopped as soon as we left the car again. As if we were entering another universe.
All of a sudden Hiba and Tasneem were walking ahead and I was struggling to keep up with their fast pace.
They threw themselves at the boys, chatting away. It was like I did not even exist anymore, although I was right next to them.
Ali and Omar were nice to me as well, giving their best to include me in the conversation. But it was like Hiba and Tasneem were actively ignoring and excluding me, drawing every little attention away from me, even if it was merely a simple question.
Our teams were uneven. So Hiba and Tasneem just decided that I was not going to play and instead only watch.
When Omar considered that it was not fair to leave me out of it, he made the compromise to play together with me and switch between trys.
The girls were cheering the boys on while they played, giving them a high-five when they managed to hit a lot of pins.
Now it was my turn.
I picked one of the balls and got to the line in front of the bowling alley.
Before playing I turned back around to the others, hoping for some encouragment from my girlfriends. But they were not even looking at me. They were invested in another conversation with the boys. Honestly they appeared like they were flirting.
Tears sprung to my eyes, blurring my vision.
How could they do that to me? Why had they invited me in the first place if they did not care if I was here?
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Then I rubbed my eyes to clear my vision again.
I had no idea how I did it, but somehow I managed to get a strike, hitting all the pins at once.
Suddenly my sadness and betrayal were replaced by excitement. Maybe I had overreacted.
I made my way over to the others. “Guys! Did you see that? I hit them all”, I declared proudly.
“Nice job”, Omar complimented me.
Hiba and Tasneem were still not paying any attention though.
My face fell again as the disappointment returned.
I sat down on a chair, swiping through my phone. I was skipping through the pictures we had taken mere minutes ago in the car. If I did not have those pictures I might have thought I had imagined it all, considering how different they were acting right now.
Without saying another word I stormed outside, glancing at the others on my way. They did not notice that I was leaving. Of course they did not.
By now the tears were falling, my head hanging low hoping that no one would see.
Should I text my mom to pick me up? But then I would have to explain the situation or at least come up with a decent lie. My mind was not ready for that.
So I decided to walk home instead.
I did not care that it was dark and I was alone. I did not care that I had to walk for two hours straight to arrive home either. I just wanted to get home and hide under my blanket.
The outfit that I had felt so confident in earlier was feeling suffocating now. Apparently it was not enough. I had pictured this whole night completely differently.
It should not have ended with me walking home alone, crying my heart out.

----------------------------
Lately everything seemed to be a nuance darker. The sun was not as bright as it used to be. The sky not as blue. The air not fresh enough to provide me with sufficient oxygen. Breathing had turned out to become more laborious as my chest was feeling to tight for my lungs.
Yet I dragged myself to school every day where it was all came crushing down on me even more. After all I did not have a choice.
Since Layan's death nothing had been the same and yet it felt like nobody truly cared. Not about Layan herself. At best they cared about the fact that one of their students was not alive anymore.
Everyone was just moving on, stopping here and there to stare at the signs that Layan had actually existed. But to me it was so much more. She had been one of my best friends, basically my only friend considering that nobody was wondering about my sudden distant nature.
Maybe I was even more unseen than Layan. I had turned into a shadow.
Miss Abeer was actually the only one recognizing me.
I noticed her concerned glances when I was only staring at Layan's old seat in class. She was even calling me in to talk to me from time to time. But sadly that was not enough to lighten the pain.
Right now I was hiding inside one of the bathroom stalls throughout the break. Somehow the close space was giving me some kind of comfort, like my world was confined to these four walls. Plus you did not have to explain yourself when you were crying in there.
I was startled though when I heard somebody throwing up. Honestly I did not want to risk getting such a tiresome infection. So I decided to leave as soon as that student had left as well.
Out of curiosity or rather to know who I should avoid for the rest of the day, I took a peek through the slit between my door and door frame.
To my surprise it was none other than Tasneem.
Of course I took notice of her sitting in class later on as if nothing had happened. But it did not seem like a big deal to me. She could have eaten something she could not stomach after all.
But that changed when I accidentally caught her throwing up once again a few days later.
This time I decided to confront her with it.
“Tasneem”, I called out while getting out of my stall.
She jumped as she obviously had not noticed my presence before.
“(f/n). How long have you been in here?”, she inquired, insecurity resounding in her voice.
I had to admit that I was surprised she even knew my name.
“Long enough to know about your eating disorder”, I enlightened her.
The gasp and the literal panic written all over her face were making me continue quickly: “Don't worry! I won't tell anyone. Under certain conditions.”
Her body language changed as she crossed her arms in front of her chest, a defensive almost angry look on her face.
“What do you want?”, she questioned, her voice resembling her non-verbal language.
“I want you to talk to me about it”, I proposed.
There was a short moment of silence between us before she spoke up again: “Seriously? Why the bother? You can already screw me with knowing about it at all. You won't get anything out of it”, she noted.
“But maybe you will”, I considered.
“I don't get it”, she confessed. “Why would you do that?”
“Because I want you to get better. This is serious, Tasneem”, I pointed out. “How long has it been going on?”
“I dunno. Maybe a year or so. I don't really remember”, she admitted.
“Have you tried talking to your mom about it?”, I wondered.
“It's complicated”, she claimed.
“Okay. The break is almost over. Do you mind meeting up after school?”
“You won't let this go, right?”, she reassured.
I shook my head no.
“You can come over to my place if you want. I'm getting a riding anyway. So you can just come along”, she offered.
“Okay, I will”, I agreed.
As soon as we left the restroom, our relationship was unchanged. She did not pay attention to me at all.
But a few hours later I was sitting on a chair next to her bed she was sitting on.
“So what else do you want to know?”, she inquired.
“Can you come to me or call me whenever you feel the need to do it?”, I requested.
“How would that help?”, she remarked. “You don't even know me. This whole thing is ridiculous.”
“You're upset”, I noticed.
“Obviously”, she shot back. “You're completely ignoring my privacy.”
“Keep on ranting if it helps”, I encouraged her.
“Who do you even think you are? How highly do you think of yourself to suppose that you out of all people could help me? You can't save me”, she exclaimed.
“Probably”, I whispered.
“You think I could be your project just because you don't have anything else to do as you have no friends. You don't even try to get along with people. You're a weirdo”, she continued.
My eyes fixated on my fidgeting hands. Despite my recent lack of experiencing my emotions, her words were somehow hurting me. Most likely because she was right.
After a short moment of silence I asked her if she was finished.
“(f/n), sorry. I ...”
I interrupted her: “Don't be. Just come to me when you need to vent. I'll listen to you. I'll try to help even if I'm just an imposter.”
“I didn't mean it like that”, she insisted. “It's just … nobody knows about this except you.”
“It's okay to be scared, Tasneem”, I assured her. “Everybody feels that way from time to time.”
“You sure don't”, she mumbled.
“What?”
“You always seem collected, wearing a poker face. You don't even try to participate in class. I've never seen you hang out with anyone. Yet you appear indifferent, calm, like you don't care”, she explained.
“If I didn't care I wouldn't be here, would I?”, I replied.
“But why me out of all people? I'm privileged, have all the resources I could need. So why are you still wanting to help me?”, she wondered.
“Coincidence? You're right. Everybody's dealing with something heavy and there a plenty of people who don't have as much money or connections. But you're still struggling. So the right piece you need seems to be missing. I couldn't forgive myself if I knew and didn't act on it. I know that it's selfish”, I confessed.
“Okay”, she stated.
“Huh?”
“I will try to come to you. But it's gonna be hard for me to do so, especially because I don't really know you. So I need to be selfish as well and make a condition”, she announced.
I waited for her to continue.
“I want you to tell me about yourself as well and become my friend. It wouldn't be fair if this whole thing was one-sided after all.”
“We have a deal then”, I agreed and shook her hand with a smile.
Over the course of the next months we grew into our roles.
Tasneem actually came to me at school whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And she would call me when I was too far away to quickly get to her.
I would talk to her, try to make her work through her emotions in another way.
I let her squeeze my hands as tightly as she needed to when she was suppressing the urge to binge.
I gave her a pep talk when everyone else talked her down.
I hugged her when she felt like nobody cared about her, but only her performance.
I told her bedtime stories when she could not sleep out of stress.
I was sitting in the front row during her most vulnerable moments and for the first time since Layan's death I was fully experiencing my life again, with all the unbearably strong emotions that belonged to it.
“(f/n)?” Tasneem softly uttered my name as we were laying on her bed.
It was not unusual for me to visit her anymore, not even to sleep over at her place. Sometimes it was helping her to hold me to fall asleep or the other way around. It was frightening to feel this close to her. Like I might lose her in the blink of an eye, just as quickly as it all had begun.
“Yeah?”, I answered, turning a bit to face her properly.
“You've changed”, she noted.
“You too”, I noted, smiling at her.
She smiled back at me. But it vanished too quickly.
“What is it really?”, I questioned.
“You're the only one who truly sees me”, she proposed. “I know that it hurts you when I fall back into my bad habits and yet you never blame me for it. You're always supportive, giving me whatever I need, whenever I need it.”
Was that a compliment? I was not used to this kind of conversation.
“When you visited me for the first time, I was an asshole. But you still stayed. Even though I talked you down. It didn't seem to affect you”, she remembered. “Do you still feel that way? Now that you know me better, would it hurt if I talked to you like that?”
“It did hurt back then”, I admitted. “But it would be more painful now.”
“How can you always stay so calm then?”, she inquired. “No matter how upset I am, you don't freak out. Instead you get me to calm down as well.”
I avoided looking at her when she said that. My hands started fidgeting again.
“You aren't”, she realized. “You want to come off as invincible, to mask it. But you're not. You're just better at hiding it.”
I stayed silent at her statement because she was right. I had picked up that skill a long time ago, maybe had it my whole life. But it had become worse with Layan's death. So bad that I sometimes could not see through my own act.
“What is your thing you're dealing with? It's gotta be a big deal since you never brought it up”, she assumed.
“I dunno if I can talk about it”, I confessed, my voice already cracking slightly as tears were flooding my eyes at the mere thought of Layan.
I had not gotten any chance to deal with my grief yet. Otherwise I would have broken down completely and there was no way my parents would let that happen. They thought it would simply go away after some time, like the person I had felt closest to had not just been killed by her own brother. Like I would be able to talk to her again, like she would call me to tell me whatever was bothering her. Like she would sing for me when I was feeling down.
Without realizing I started crying as the memories flooded my mind. I just noticed when I saw Tasneem's expression before she pulled me into her arms.
My tears transformed into painful sobs as I could not hold it in any longer. When I was too exhausted to continue crying I fell asleep in her arms.
I woke up in the middle of the night.
Tasneem was holding me so tightly that there was no way to get out of bed without waking her up. So instead I tried my best to enjoy the moment despite my head screaming at me to run.
The fear was getting stronger the closer we got. It was unlikely that Tasneem was going to die soon. But I had not expected Layan to die either. So rational thinking was not helping me in any way.
“Hey”, Tasneem greeted me.
Her voice was groggy from sleep. It was absolutely adorable.
“Hey”, I mumbled back.
She loosened her arms around me to give me a chance to move. “How are you feeling?”
Great question now that I was so out of touch with my feelings. But I had to be honest with her. After she had opened up to me so many times it was not fair to keep everything about me to myself.
“Scared”, I uttered.
“Why?”, she worried.
“I … really care about you. A lot. I don't wanna lose you”, I revealed, pushing myself against her again to make sure she had not already disappeared.
“I won't leave”, she promised.
“You never know”, I declared. “What if it isn't your choice?”
She cupped my cheek with her hand, leading me to look up at her.
“I won't leave”, she repeated. “So please don't leave either.”
“Even if I didn't wanna be your friend anymore?”, I questioned.
“What?” Horror was taking over her face.
“I'm sorry, but … I love you”, I confessed.
For a moment she froze, scaring me to no end. But that all vanished when she closed the last tiny gap between us to kiss me.
When she pulled back again, she complained: “You really scared me for a second, you know?”
I laughed at her reaction and after pouting for a few seconds she joined in. Just now I realized how much I had missed laughing like this.
I was aware that my pain would not just fade away this easily. That I had a lot to work on and that being with Tasneem would not be enough to solve all my problems. But it was moments like these who were crucial to help turning my world brighter again. One step at a time.

The flashy lights and loud music were surrounding Nadeen and me as soon as we left the car. The party was already alive.
“I need to go and see Shams for a minute. Do you wanna come along or join the party?”, Nadeen inquired.
She could not be serious! I did not even have an invite! But after Nadeen's reflection session earlier today, I kinda wanted to avoid Shams for a bit. At least until I had it all figured out.
“Go ahead! I'll see you later”, I declared and made my way over to the garden.
The noise was telling me clearly in which direction I should head.
I was not really one for parties like this. The drama was inevitable, especially with the social hierarchy of getting an invite. Not mentioning that I did not even know Omar in the first place, neither most of his guests.
So I settled on one of the sofas standing around.
I did not stay alone for long though as some guy sat down next to me.
“Hi, what's a pretty girl like you doing here all on her own?”, he greeted me with a smirk.
“Seriously? That's basically the most overused pick-up line ever”, I teased him, chuckling slightly.
“I just couldn't help myself”, he confessed. “I'm Ali by the way.”
“(f/n)”, I introduced myself casually.
His smirk turned into a genuine smile. “I've never seen you around. Why is that?”
“Well, this isn't really my trope”, I enlightened him. “Though I gotta say that I regret coming here less now.”
“I'm feeling flattered”, he proclaimed, dramatically placing his hand on his heart. “How do you know Omar?”
“I don't, actually. I'm here with my friend Nadeen. She basically dragged me here”, I declared.
“Guess I'll have to thank her for that”, he noted.
“I wonder if she's back already?”, I thought out loud, looking around for her.
But instead of spotting her, I accidentally made eye contact with Shams. Could I even claim it a coincidence, considering the frequency?
After looking around a bit more I finally found Nadeen talking to Omar. Fine by me.
Ali and I were having a great time talking. So why interrupt it?
Although after some time I could not shake the feeling that I was being watched.
But Nadeen was still busy chatting with Omar and Shams was not even looking my way. Maybe I had imagined it.
Ali told me some stories about his time with Omar and his soccer games. From time to time he asked me some questions to get me to tell him a bit about myself as well.
I had not had such a good chat in a long time, but it was disturbed by a nauseating pain in my stomach.
“Are you okay?”, Ali worried.
“Yeah, I'm fine”, I brushed it off, quickly masking the pain. “But I'll need to go for a minute. I really enjoyed talking to you though.”
“All my pleasure”, he remarked.
On my way into the house I remembered that my period was supposed to come soon. How could I have forgotten about that?
I internally cursed myself for being so thoughtless. But it would not change anything to beat myself up over it.
Instead I hurried to the nearest bathroom to check the situation and to my horror my assumption had been right.
Frantically I was looking through the bathroom cabinet, hoping to magically find a pad.
Luck seemed to be on my side at least in that aspect. I even found some painkillers.
A part of me was feeling guilty for taking without asking first. But over the years I had learned not to take my period lightly.
I just hoped that I had taken Shams' stuff and not her mom's. That would be even more awkward.
After some damage control I went to the kitchen to get some water to take the medicine. By now I was already feeling pretty dizzy and nauseous on top of the pain.
At least I found everything easily and hurried to take the painkillers.
As I was only starting to feel even worse I intended to sit down on the nearest chair. But suddenly the world around me was spinning until it all turned black.
When I woke up again I was disoriented for a moment.
The dark blue ceiling was the first thing I saw as I opened my eyes.
Panic rose inside of me. I had never seen a room with such a ceiling before. Where the hell was I?
Out of reflex I quickly sat up, groaning at the pain in my head. My stomach was actually feeling better.
“Hey, it's okay”, Shams reassured me, placing her hand on my arm. “You're in my room. The door is unlocked. You can leave anytime you want. But I think you should take it slow for now.”
I had not noticed her until now.
So this was Shams' room?! I took it all in for a moment.
“What exactly happened? How did I end up here?”, I wondered.
“Well … you passed out in the kitchen. So I made Omar carry you to my bed”, she enlightened me. “How are you feeling?”
“My head is killing me”, I proposed.
“Figures when you hit it on the floor”, Shams noted. “Do you know why you even fainted?”
“My period just loves me”, I joked. “Shit!”
I just remembered how strong my period always was and took a look at her sheets. The pad had not been sufficient. Now all I wanted to do was vanish. Could this whole situation become any more embarrassing?
“Shams, I'm so sorry”, I apologized.
“Nah, it's alright. I know how to get the stains out. We all know the struggle”, she brushed it off. “Wanna go take a shower to clean yourself up? I have my own bathroom. You can also borrow some of my clothes if you want to.”
“You're a lifesaver”, I declared, making her smile.
She got me some clothes and a towel and showed me where her pads were.
I had never expected this evening to turn out like this. Sometimes my life felt like a drama show.
After being finished I returned to Shams' room where she was sitting at her laptop wearing headphones. She was deeply focused and somehow it was mesmerizing. I could not take my eyes off of her.
Nadeen entering the room without knocking startled both of us, although Shams noticed later than me.
“Are you okay? Omar told me that you had passed out”, Nadeen worried.
“Yeah, I'm good now. Thanks to Shams”, I added, sending her a grateful smile which she reciprocated.
This was the first time I was genuinely being nice to her and to be honest I was a bit ashamed of it. She had not deserved my nasty behavior towards her.
After a sigh of relief Nadeen was grinning at me. “Guess I'll leave you two alone then”, she announced and left before we could react.
