I think I'll make an attempt to read the books targeted in the Cait Corrain drama. Missing here is "The Empire Wars" by Akana Phenix but there's no cover out for that one yet so... and there's a bunch of other author targeted because CC was a busy bee. But I'll start here.

3.75 stars
This one was way darker than I expected. I liked the use of dystopia- it felt as though the story had come from real anger at the atrocities of the world. I thought it was good, not flawless but I like a book with a lot to say and this certainly was that. It鈥檚 one that I鈥檒l be thinking about for a while longer (in a good way). Some small things are that some parts of the worldbuilding, especially with the magic system, didn鈥檛 fully line up? And while I was definitely very invested in the story and able to suspend my disbelief as I read, the plot isn鈥檛 fully airtight. But definitely a good read overall.

sorry if this is a silly question, but i've only seen pay phones in movies. did pay phones actually exist everywhere irl or is it used to create drama in films? what aren't there any?
/end id]
Yes, there did used to be pay phones dotting cities. Most of them were removed because with the advent of cell phones they were no longer profitable. Why seek out a payphone (and pay a premium to make a call) when you're carrying a phone in your pocket?
I feel like such a granny right now.
