Aiyanna -- A young spellcaster of some talent; she has taken an early interest in the arcane arts.  Though she only recently advanced past her apprenticeship, she seeks to expand her arcane knowledge, collecting new arcane wonders wherever they can be found outside the structures of academia.                 Her life of adventure begins alongside her sister.

aiyanna tries not to tear up, watching the other woman with those big, wide eyes getting glassy from her upset. she sniffles and turns her head so val doesn't see it, then she shrugs her shoulders and nods. "yeah, and that's scary. i don't know what to do."

"sorry." val half mutters , closing her laptop and turning full attention to aiyanna now. a frown has settled onto her features, brows in a furrow. "i can't . . . find anything, really. wait. are you like - - hungry yet ? "

MAMA I’M A NATIONAL CHAMP !. 𝘫𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘭𝘧𝘺 𝘹 𝘧𝘦𝘮 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳!

The atmosphere in the arena was buzzing as the UConn women’s basketball team geared up for their Final 4 showdown against USC. The players were hyped, adrenaline pumping. You had your camera in hand, ready to capture the intensity of every play. Jana El Alfy shot you a look, fire in her eyes. Jana: "Yo, we finna light it up today, you got the shots ready?" You adjusted your lens, locking eyes with her. You: "You already know, I’m here for all the heat."

The squad was huddled up, KK bouncing on her toes, Ashlynn cracking a joke to loosen the mood, Paige and Azzi were locked in, Allie was laser-focused, Aiyanna was bouncing to the beat in her head, and Kaitlyn was the quiet storm, just ready to wreck. Sarah was doing her thing, getting everyone’s energy right.

KK: "We ain't scared of no defense. We breakin' through like it's nothin'." Azzi: "Yo, I’m pullin’ from anywhere. Just keep that ball movin’." Allie: "We a family out here. We ain’t goin’ down without a fight." Paige: "This court’s ours. We ain’t leavin’ without the W."

You snapped a few shots, catching that pre-game fire.

You: “Y’all got this, huskys. Just do y’all thing, and I’ll capture the greatness." Sarah: "Ain't no way we not takin' this dub, photographer. Watch us work." You flashed a quick smile, feeling the hype in the air. The buzzer sounded, and the girls exploded out of the huddle, Jana giving you a nod. Jana: "Let’s go make ‘em regret stepping on this court." You followed them onto the court, camera ready. This was it. No more talk—time to show the world what UConn’s made of.

Studs in this community influenced their partners’ pregnancy decisions. Three of fivestuds believed that studs planned pregnancies for their girlfriends. Studs like PJ (age 24)reported they have friends who ‘make they girlfriends get pregnant for them’. Studs convinced their girlfriends to have a child because ‘they feel they want to have kids, but they don’t want to be the ones to produce’. Aiyanna (age 17), whose second pregnancy at age 15 occurred only months after having an abortion, described her decision to become pregnant as intricately tied to her stud partner’s desire to parent. Her decision to have a child was made ‘to have a child for her [my girlfriend]’. She reiterated this pregnancy rationale by stating that her pregnancy was an instance of ‘me having it [a baby] for my girl’

All femmes who sought pregnancy had permission from their stud partners to pursue pregnancy. Stud partners played the role of ‘decision maker’, deciding whether the time was right for their partner to become pregnant. They granted permission for their femme partner to have sex with a male in order to become pregnant: the most rigid boundary police allowed for a bending of the rules. Although studs seemingly guided the pregnancy decision-making process, femmes who became pregnant did not see themselves as coerced by their partners to have children, instead, they viewed the choice to have children as one made together and indicative of their desire to have a family together (Reed 2010).Gendered practices were ultimately family practices.

In much the same way, family practices may also be gender practices. For studs, being a baby’s daddy may have made their gender identity and their partner’s gender identity more dichotomised. Pregnancy makes gender identities disparate because of the ways in which new roles accentuate femininity and masculinity (Burke and Cast 1997). Parenthood confers upon individuals more traditional gender roles and is the ultimate symbol of womanhood for women and manhood for men (Belsky and Kelly 1994). Even in same-sex relationships, a child magnifies gender differences (Chabot and Ames 2004)because parents are categorised as biological and non-biological parents set apart in terms of genetics and biology, social identification and legality
